Duplicate and orphelin Report engine "rweng"

Hi All,
I have a report server 10g (9.0.4) on HP-UX using three engine rweng-0,rweng-1,rweng-2
here is my conf :
<engine id="rwEng" class="oracle.reports.engine.EngineImpl" initEngine="1" maxEngine="3" minEngine="1" engLife="50" maxIdle="10" callbackTimeOut="60000">
Sometimes when i type the command ps -ex i found duplicate engine for example : (2 or 3 -- rweng-0) ( 1-- rweng-1) ( 1 -- rweng-2)
There is also an other problem somtimes the server hangs et stop responding.
The rwserver.trc shows some error like :

  • Webi and Deski report engine ports

    We're having problems connecting to the webi or deski report engines through a firewall with BO XI R2 Java SDK. We've followed this document extensively :
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/0047e5f4-3140-2b10-1bae-de175e4c741c
    We've set the -port and -requestport switches but the opendocument call always hangs and eventually gives out the error :
    No server was available to process the request. Please try again later. (Error: RFC 00101)
    Its definitely a firewall issue - I can turn off the firewall to solve it, but obviously that's not a long term solution.
    I believe we have configured the servers correctly according to that document given we managed to successfully connect to the CMS through a firewall following the same procedure.
    If anyone has any experience connecting to the RAS webi / deski servers through a firewall via the Java SDK, please let me know.
    Greg.

    You should only be getting the getRASConnection() method log with Desktop Intelligence, since the internal server name is RAS21.  It's distinct from the public server name RAS (Report Application Server) that's specific to Crystal Reports.  Not trying to harp on this, just an FYI when posting.
    How about the Desktop Intelligence Cache Server?  All communications to the Desktop Intelligence Report Server goes through the Cache Server.  So it's SDK <-> DeskI Cache <-> DeskI Report Server.
    Sincerely,
    Ted Ueda

  • Reports engine doesnt start automatically

    Hello,
    I install weblogic 10.3.3 with forms&reports 11.1.1.3 and I have the following issue.
    When the weblogic starts, the reports engine (RWENG) doesn't star automatically to print the reports. To be able to print the first report I need to manually open the "/reports/rwservlet/showjobs?jobname" site or press the "start in-process button".
    I already tried to define the" minEngine=1, initEngine=1 and maxEngine=5" but the issue persists.
    Can anyone help me out? How can I start the reports engine automatically, so I dont need to open the URL or press the button every time the weblogic starts?
    Thank you.

    Yea. Based on your first post:
    x-tra wrote:Although i am able to login at gdm, what i am getting next is an x-session with 3 terminal windows.
    it seemed to me that you were successfully getting to GDM login but just were not getting to your gnome session, so that's why I didn't go into great detail about setting up GDM and just suggested using a different init file (~/.gnomerc in this case).
    But, basically, you were choosing the wrong session at GDM, and once you selected Gnome, you were good to go, is that correct?
    Anyway, back to dbus-launch ... any background on why you chose this methodology over putting dbus in the rc.conf daemons? I'm not criticizing, I've just not seen it done this way, so I thought you could provide some insight into your choice.
    it doesnt make any difference its just another way to load dbus and having some options for the gnome-session.
    Your solution is much easier so i stick with that.

  • Report Server Vs Reports Engine

    Hi,
    Could someone explain the difference between report server and a report engine (advantages vs disadvantages)?
    What does lifes remaiming means on a reports engine?
    On a 100+ user system, which is better, mulitple reports servers or higher reports engine setting?
    Thanks
    Edited by: 913146 on 08-Feb-2012 02:35

    Hi,
    About engLife,you can get the details from the below link.:)
    You will also get the information of other report server parameters
    http://docs.oracle.com/html/A9210201/pbr_tune.htm#1005700_
    Difference between report server and a report engine
    Report engine is a part of Report server..When ever a report server starts then the report engine gets initialized and gets available at the same time.
    If Report server is down,Report Engine also goes down.
    which is better mulitple  reports servers or higher reports engine setting?
    Now consider this example,
    If you have set you Max and Min engine to 3,
    Now assume,3 users have simultaneously sent request to execute a report.
    These 3 request will be handled by 3 engines available in the report server.
    Now in between this,if the 4th user tries to execute another report..since all the engines are full,this request will be in the queue and will be executed once any report engine gets free.
    Multiple report server will be helpful,As the load gets balanced between different report servers.
    Regards
    Fabian

  • REP-56048: Engine rwEng-0 crashed sending reports to printer Linux

    Hi,
    I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of things I could try to get around this error in Oracle 10g (10.1.2.3) on Linux:

    I'm receiving it when I send a report directly to the printer (DESTYPE=printer DESFORMAT=blank DESNAME=printer name. When I run it locally on my Windows Machine, the command works and my report prints direclty to the printer fine. It's only when I go to Linux that I have issues. I get the above error. I've read posts on here about turning tracing off but that doesn't seem to help (unless I turned an option off that I thought was tracing.
    When I run it with (DESTYPE=cache DESFORMAT=pdf), the reports generates in a new browser window and works fine (on Windows and Linux both).

    Has anyone had any issues with upgrading from a different OS (like Windows) to Linux and trying to print reports directly to the printer? I've had nothing but issues with it. I know others are using the feature but, I just haven't figured it out.
    When I send it via the command line, I get this message below. I'm working with Oracle Support on this. I've got default printer setup as my network printer. I can print a document via the command line to my printer but when I submit an Oracle Report command, I get errors like below.

    Please try the following
    * Modify $ORACLE_HOME/bin/reports.sh, replace "classic"
    with "server" in the LD_LIBRARY_PATH for the JVM
    * Modify $ORACLE_HOME/bin/rwengine.sh, just before the exec
    command, insert the following line:
    export LD_PRELOAD=$ORACLE_HOME/jdk/jre/lib/i386/libawt.so
    In Linux there was a similar problem and the above workaround worked . You can give this a try .
    Thanks

  • Report Engine does not increase when there is a large no of reports queue

    Hello Everybody,
    Specifications:
    Product : Oracle Application Server Forms and Reports Services 10.1.2.0.2
    OS : Windows 2003 R2 Server
    Dual Core CPU 2600MHz
    6 GB RAM
    We are doing the sizing for our reports server. We have specified the following in our rep_server.conf
    <engine id="rwEng" class="oracle.reports.engine.EngineImpl" initEngine="2" maxEngine="6" minEngine="2" engLife="50" maxIdle="30" callbackTimeOut="90000" engineResponseTimeOut="3" jvmoptions="-Xms64m -Xmx128m">
    Even when there are 5000 or more reports in the queue still the number of engines in the reports server remains at 2 though I have given that it can use upto a maximum of 6 engines. Can anybody please explain why this happens? Am I missing something here?
    Thank you for your reply in advance.

    Hello,
    Anybody has any idea why the report engine is behaving like this?
    Thanks in advance

  • Terminated with error: br REP-56048: Engine rwEng-0 crashed, job Id: 5778

    while running report i m getting following error
    Terminated with error: <br>REP-56048: Engine rwEng-0 crashed, job Id: 5778
    I m unable to trace what is wrong currently i m using report application server 10.1.2.3.0 and delimited as desformat.
    I have already used jvmoption and delimiteddata.
    but both failed to solve the problem as jvmoption does not work in my case and delimiteddata has expected format problem.I want to use delimited option so what is the problem with engine that it crashes on the few reports.
    regards,
    kaushal

    How many MB of SGA + PGA is assigned its BD?
    Do the following:
    1. It is necessary to modify the engine definition to include :
    jvmOptions="-Xmx512M -Xms128M -Xss512k"
    How to do it, depends on the version of Report Server in use :
    a. For version 10gR2 (10.1.2.x) :
    Backup your Reports server .conf file and Modify the rwEng parameters and add :
    jvmOptions="-Xmx512M -Xms128M -Xss512k"
    b. For version 11g (11.X), this has to be done through Enterprise Manager. In Enterprise Manager, locate your Report Server and go to "Basic Configuration" page then insert :
    -Xmx512M -Xms128M -Xss512k
    into the field "JVM Options" and "Apply" your changes.
    * The important option is "Xss" that sets the maximum stack size that can be used by C code in a thread.
    3. Restart your reports server and try to run again with DESFORMAT=SPREADSHEET

  • English and Arabic reports output in PDF

    Hi,
    We generate reports in pdf through our application. We have some English reports(left to right) and some Arabic reports(right to left) but directions settings in our application server is left to right so our Arabic reports are also coming left to right.
    How to resolve this?
    Application server 10g

    if you are using JSP reports that is means you are encountering the following bug: please change it to RDF and try again.
    Bug 7671625 "PDF OUTPUT IS LTR WHEN RUNNING JSP REPORTS REGARDLESS OF NLS_LANG SETTINGS"
    otherwise change this parameter in the windows regestry REPORTS_BIDI_ALGORITHM=UNICODE and restart the report server then try printing the report
    or
    1. Backup and edit the Reports Server configuration file $ORACLE_HOME/reports/conf/REPORTSERVERNAME.conf.
    2. Add the following lines :
    <environment id="AR">
    <envVariable name="NLS_LANG" value="ARABIC_EGYPT.AR8ISO8859P6"/>
    <envVariable name="TK_LOCALE" value="bidi"/>
    <!--envVariable name="REPORTS_BIDI_ALGORITHM" value="UNICODE"/-->
    <!--envVariable name="REPORTS_ARABIC_NUMERAL" value="ARABIC"/-->
    </environment>
    3. Modify the line for the engine tag to use the specified Environment ID. For example, change:
    <engine id="rwEng" class="oracle.reports.engine.EngineImpl" initEngine="1" maxEngine="1"
    minEngine="0" engLife="50" maxIdle="30" callbackTimeOut="90000">
    TO:
    <engine id="rwEng" class="oracle.reports.engine.EngineImpl" initEngine="1" maxEngine="1"
    minEngine="0" engLife="50" maxIdle="30" callbackTimeOut="90000" defaultEnvId="AR">
    4. Save and exit the Reports Server configuration file.
    5. Restart the Reports Server for the changes to take effect.

  • Terminated with error: br REP-56048: Engine rwEng-0 crashed

    Dear community,
    I have OAS 10.1.2.3.0 installed on Windows server 2008R2, it's a test environment. Everything is working OK, expect running one specific report. It is failing with REP-56048: Engine rwEng-0 crashed. I am running report with destype=cache desformat=pdf, but it doesn't work with spreadsheet or html either.
    I have enabled tracing and this is what I get in the log:

    I tried to increase cache in reports_server.conf and setting up JVM "Xmx512M -Xms128M -Xss512k" for reports server engine, none of these configuration settings worked.
    Please advise if there is anything I can configure to bypass this problem.
    Thank you!

    The problem was solved by adding another report server with "SERVER_IN_PROCESS=NO" parameter in rwservlet.properties file.
