Duplicate control label preventing creation of unit test using UTF

Hello Everyone,
                   I was trying to create a unit test for a VI using the unit test framework (evaluation version) to try out this tool.  I have two questions regarding that.
1. Several sub-VIs are called by this VI. I wanted to create a unit test for each of these sub-VIs so that I could test each of them separately. But UTF provided me with the option to create a unit test for the main VI alone. The main VI is huge and getting 100% code coverage is going to be a challenging task. Is there a way by which I can create unit tests for the individual sub-VIs?
2. When I tried to create the unit test for the main VI, I got an error saying: Cannot create a test from this VI. Contains the following duplicate control labels. This is because the same indicators are being used in different cases within a case structure.
Is there anyway to resolve this issue?
Thanks

If I understand what the problem is you have to controls or indicators that have the same name. To fix this you need to give them unique names. If they need to say the same thing on the user interface then you can use the caption and change the name on that so they both have the same name.

  • BeginTimer and EndTimer Not Working In Data-Driven Unit Test Using DataSource Attribute

    Using VS2012 Ultimate I have a unit test with the <DataSource> attribute which passes in values from a CSV file.  I'm wrapping the unit test in a load test.  I expect a Transaction to appear in the load test results for each row in my DataSource
    due to the BeginTimer and EndTimer methods in the unit test.  However, I only get 1 transaction, with response time roughly equal to the overall test time.  For example, if each row in the DataSource takes 1 second to process, then my test time and
    transaction time would be about 10 seconds with 10 rows in the CSV file.
    I've created a load test with Constant Load Pattern, 1 user, and 1 test iteration.  Seeing the behavior described above.
    I have tried with and without and the check for $LoadTestUserContext.  I'm only using that because I get a NotSupportedException when running the unit test on its own.  I can't believe this bug still
    exists, but that is another topic.
    Note also that I cannot see the Debug output in the Output window in VS2012.
    Any tips?  Thank you.

    Could you share me a screen shot about the reslut in load test?
    Could you share us the load test result in "Transaction"Tables?
    About how to use the
    Transaction for unit tests, maybe you could get useful informaiton here:

  • SSDT: Creation of localDB instances from project file - Sql Server Unit testing purposes

    I have a SqlServer Database Project in my solution (VS2013 Professional) which has a corresponding test project with some stored procedure unit tests. Currently I am using a LocalDB and as far as I understand a local database instance is created in C:\Users\[User]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Microsoft
    SQL Server Local DB\Instances\Projects and the specific .mdf file referenced in the SQL Server Object Explorer is in C:\Users\[User]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\VisualStudio\SSDT\[ProjectName]. The unit tests run fine on my local machine which I have developed
    the project on.
    My issue is we have a box which is configured to check out the project file from our version control, build the project using ms build commands and then run the unit tests using VSTest.Console. Usually with C# Test projects we reference the test project
    dll and the unit tests run fine. I have referenced the dll for the test project with the stored procedure unit tests in.
    With the Stored Procedure unit tests however we get this exception:
    Initialization method [project].[spTest].TestInitialize threw exception. System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 50 - Local Database Runtime error occurred. The specified LocalDB instance does not exist.
    After some digging I have realised that the localdb instance seems to be created when the project itself is created in VS not when it is built. Specifically when the localdb is first used and if you look into the appData folder of the test machine there
    is no corresponding mdf file for the project.
    The question is is there a way to set up a localDB instance on the new machine if all you have the project file? The only purpose of the project on the test machine is to run the unit tests, no other development purposes. VS2013 Professional is installed
    on the test machine but a solution only using config file changes or MSBuild/VSTest commands would be preferable.
    I realise you could change the connection string to an actual test database and run the unit tests of that but we quite like the localdb approach for the testing. I also realise that you could potentially transfer the mdf file (haven't tested this solution)
    as well, though I would prefer if there is a solution to my initial question.

    I have been reading up on LocalDB and I assume a automatic LocalDB is created when you create a sql server database project (ie on localdb first use). I have tried adding the database creation to the test project config file but do not really know where
    to go from there. The second link does not really specify when the named localdb will be created if you add the config items and I am not even sure if that is an actual solution.  Here's my test project config file for reference

    Thanks in advance for any response. Sorry if there is any misunderstanding, while I have been using VS to develop from the start, this is the first time I have used a Sql Server Database Project.

    Yes, you can create a LocalDB instance manually. You use the SqlLocalDb utility, see here:

  • Suggestions requested for Unit Testing process and build processes.

    Hi All,
    We are using WebLogic WorkShop 8.1 SP2 to build our WebApp. One thing I am trying
    to get together is a "Best Practises" list for aspects of WorkShop developement,
    particularly Unit Testing, Continous Build methodology, source control management
    etc.I have been through the "Best Practises Guide" that comes in WorkShop help,
    but it doesnt address these issues.This could help us all for future projects.
    1)Could anyone give pointers on how to perform Unit Testing using either JUnit/JUnitEE
    in the WorkShop realm, given that Controls cannot be accessed directly from PO
    Test classes.
    2)For a project of size say 5 developers ,does it make sense to have a nightly
    build using tools like CruiseControl?We use CVS for our source control and its
    working out pretty well, but given that we currently have no Unit Tests that can
    be run after the build and that can provide some reports on what broke/what didnt?
    I am sure we all would appreciate any suggestions and more questions on this topic.
    Thanks,
    Vik.

    Hi, Chris,
    can you perhaps explain your solution in greater detail. I am really curious to
    find a way to test controls.
    "Chris Pyrke" <[email protected]> wrote:
    >
    I have written (well it's a bit of a dirty hack really) something that
    lends itself
    to the name ControlTest (it unit tests controls). Its a blend of Junit
    and Cactus
    with some of the source of each brutalised a bit to get things to work
    (not much
    - it was a couple of hours work, when I was supposed to be doing something
    else).
    To write a control test you code something like...
    package com.liffe;
    import com.liffe.controlunit.ControlTestCase;
    import controls.Example;
    public class TestExample extends ControlTestCase
    private Example example = null;
    public void setUp() {
    example = (Example)getControl("example");
    public void testExample() {
    this.assertNotNull(example);
    String result = example.getData();
    assertEquals(result, "Happy as Larry");
    Other tasks required to set up a test are creating a web project with
    a jpf which
    needs some cut and paste code (14 lines) in its begin method and a jsp
    which is
    also cut and paste (5 lines). (ie create a standard web project and paste
    in 2
    pieces of code)
    In the web project you need to create a control (A) with an instance
    name of controlContainer.
    (if it's called something else the pasted in code will need changing
    to reflect)
    In this control you need to put an instance of TestContainerImpl and
    any controls
    that need testing.
    You then need to add a method to the control (A) that looks like…
    * @common:operation
    public String controlTestRun(String theSuiteClassName, boolean xsl)
    container.setControl("example", example);
    return container.controlTestRun(theSuiteClassName, xsl);
    You need to call container.setControl for each control being tested and
    the object
    'container' is the instance name of the TestContainerImpl that was put
    in.
    There are 4 jars (junit, cactus etc) that go in the library. You will
    also need
    the ControlUnitBase project (or maybe just it's jar).
    To use you call a URL like:
    http://localhost:7001/TestWeb/Controller.jpf?test=com.liffe.TestExample
    TestWeb is the name I gave to my web project - this will be different
    for each
    test project
    com.liffe.Example is the class above and will therefore be different
    for each
    test case.
    You can also call
    http://localhost:7001/TestWeb/Controller.jpf?test=com.liffe.TestExample&xsl=true
    (Note the extra &xsl=true) and the browser will (if it can) render it
    more prettily.
    This seems to do the job quite nicely, but there are several caveats
    I would hope
    someone from bea would be able to address before I start using it widely.
    1) To access the control you need to create it (eg as a subcontrol in
    the control
    (A) above.
    To get it into the test case you need to pass it round as an Object (can't
    return
    Control from a control operation). As it's being passed around among
    Java (POJO)
    classes I'm assuming that control remains in the control container context
    so
    this is OK. It seems to work and the Object is some form of proxy as
    any control
    seems to be reproxied before the control is invoked from the test case.
    2) If I'm testing controls called from a JPD then they either need to
    be in a
    control project (and my test cases called from a Web Project) which makes
    for
    a large increase in project numbers (we already have this and are trying
    to resist
    it) To avoid this - as a process project is a brain damaged web project
    I simply
    perform some brain surgery and augment the process project with some
    standard
    files found in any old web project. this means I can call the test JPF
    from a
    browser. This seems nasty, is there a better way?
    3) I would like to be able to deliver without the test code. At the worst
    the
    code can be in place but must be inacessible in a production environment.
    I don't
    know how best to do this - any suggestions (without creating lots of
    projects,
    or lots of manual effort)
    If anyone has read this far I would ask the question does this seem like
    the kind
    of thing that would be useful?
    Hopefully a future version of workshop will have something to enable
    unit testing
    and this hacking will be unnecessary.
    Could someone from BEA tell me if this is a dangerous way to do things?

  • SQL Developer Unit Testing - Validation with PL/SQL

    Hi,
    I am trying to create Unit tests using SQL Developer UT framework.
    But when i am creating validation using User PL/SQL code option.
    Then how can i check value returned by l_count in code snippet below:
    -- Please raise an exception if the validation fails.
    -- For example:
    DECLARE
    l_count NUMBER;
    wrong_count EXCEPTION;
    BEGIN
    SELECT count(*) into l_count
    FROM test_recon
    WHERE
    match_num = 99836936
    AND Stg_status_flag <> 'E';
    IF l_count = 0
    THEN
    RAISE wrong_count;
    END IF;
    END;
    Also, can someone please refer me to few more demo examples (apart from oracle docs) to implement good test cases with SQL developer.
    I appreciate your help.
    Regards
    Dipali

    Probably not the answer you're looking for, but back when I was playing around with the Unit Test stuff, I didn't have sys privs, and the DBAs were a little busy at the time to set a up a repository for me. Rather than wait, I installed Oracle XE on my machine and created a small dev schema and deployed unit test to that. It's so much easier to perform quick proof of concepts when you have full control.

  • Flash Builder 4.7 Unit Tests for Mobile Devices

    I am trying to setup a simple unit test using Flash Builder 4.7. I created a Test Suite and a Test Case class.
    Using the menu, I select Run > Run. I see options to select which Test Case / Methods I'd like to run.
    But the strange thing is, next I have to select a launch configuration. I'd assume it would just launch in some console window and give me test results. I did what I could and have it setup to run on the AIR simulator for a XOOM device. Nothing happens I just see a blank screen with a blank bar at the top.
    I've also tried right clicking the project and choosing execute flexunit tests. My FlexUnit Resulst still says 0/0.
    What is the launch configuration I need to use to execute the test cases and get the results?

    I solved it! After looking at example code on google, I realized that the s:ViewNavigatorApplication was missing two key options:
    firstView="flexunit.flexui.FlexUnitTestRunnerUIMobile"
    firstViewData="{getFirstViewData()}"
    Thankfully I was able to derive this. It makes 0 since to me why this wouldn't be added to the automatically generated mxml file but the functions it utalizes does. This to me seems like a defect. If you'd like people to use automatically generated files, make sure they are functional.
    Thanks

  • Unit test with JUnit

    Hi all,
    I use Eclipse IDE: Eclipse Java EE IDE for Web Developers. Version: Indigo Release
    I use JUnit 4. For project properties> Java Build Path> Libraries: I have JUnit4 added. Also under the same tab: Maven Dependencies> I have junit-4.8.2.jar
    In pom.xml I have:
    <dependency>
          <groupId>junit</groupId>
          <artifactId>junit</artifactId>
          <version>4.8.2</version>
          <scope>test</scope>
        </dependency>Basically, I’m writing unit tests using JUnit in the past few months! All I needed to do was to create a test class, add a test method like below:
    @Test
    public void testMethod(){
              // Some test code
    }Right click on method, Run As> JUnit Test
    That’s all I needed to do to either run my unit test or do Debug As> Junit Test to debug my unit test.
    All was fine with the world! Starting yesterday, when I add a new test method in a test class, and then do: Right click on method, Run As> JUnit Test
    Nothing happens! I cannot run or debug any test anymore! Meaning I cannot add any new unit test!
    Let me also add that after I add my test method, I do a clean build thru Eclipse and Eclipse sees the newly complied class which contains my new test method.
    Since none of my configurations changed, I have no idea what went wrong!
    Does anybody has any idea? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Yes, I have an idea: Post your code. I for one am not going to my waste my time speculating and guessing.Could also just be IDE crud. I've had similar problems with older versions of Eclipse. Never with current ones though.
    OP: eclipse creates run/debug configurations for each class. If you search around a little you should find the dialog, I don't know the exact name. I think you can reach it from the "run as" menu options. You should try clearing the settings of your test suite to see if that changes anything.

  • Unit Test in SQL Developer 2.1: Automated Builds

    Hi,
    I am interested to know if the new Unit Testing framework can be accessed via API so the test execution is initiated from automated build process.
    Regards,
    Vadim

    I am having a problem with the unit testing command line.
    I am attempting to run the unit testing using the command line interface.
    I can connect to UNIT_TEST_REPOS schema in SQL developer.
    I am successfully running units test and suites in SQL developer.
    UNIT_TEST_REPOS, RCSV1 and DEVER users are granted on the UT_REPO_USER role and UNIT_TEST_REPOS and DEVER on the UT_REPO_ADMINISTRATOR.
    The following commands result in an error box saying "No Repository was found on the selected connection, you need to create a repository." (The HELP button apparently does nothing. The OK button closes the box.)
    C:\Program Files\sqldeveloper\sqldeveloper\bin>UtUtil -exp -test -name RCSV1_RCS_SECURITY.GET_LDAP_BASE -repo unit_test_repos -file c:\ut_xml\test.xml
    Unable to open repository
    C:\Program Files\sqldeveloper\sqldeveloper\bin>UtUtil -run -test -name RCSV1_RCS_SECURITY.GET_LDAP_BASE -repo unit_test_repos -db dever
    Unable to open repository
    C:\Program Files\sqldeveloper\sqldeveloper\bin>UtUtil -run -test -name RCSV1_RCS_SECURITY.GET_LDAP_BASE -repo dever -db dever
    Unable to open repository
    I would guess that I am not supplying the correct connection info.
    My last comment triggered an idea. It turns out that the connection names required are those connections named in SQL developer. In my case, they are not the same as the schema names. The following command worked as advertised.
    C:\Program Files\sqldeveloper\sqldeveloper\bin>UtUtil -run -test -name RCSV1_RCS_SECURITY.GET_LDAP_BASE -repo UNIT_TEST -db DeverLocal
    The ANT target is
    <target name="UnitTests">
    <exec executable="cmd" dir="${sqldev.bin.dir}">
    <arg value="/c"/>
    <arg value="UtUtil -run -suite -name RCSV1 -repo UNIT_TEST -db DeverLocal"/>
    </exec>
    </target>

  • Transport of ABAP Unit Test Classes between systems.

    Hi guys
    I have a bit of a dilemma on hands here pertaining to the transport of ABAP Unit test classes. Generally when you create a transport containing classes the transport manager will automatically include all "programs" related to the class like the local type definitions, local implementations and with ABAP Unit the local test classes.
    <b>The question that I have is how would one go about excluding the ABAP Unit test classes in transports to production systems and pre-WAS 6.40 systems that do not support ABAP Unit? Does the transport system automatically manage this for you?</b> Any help ideas regarding this would be greatly appreciated.
    Kind regards
    Ettienne Hugo

    Hello Ettienne
    I have a very similar problem that I have to maintain objects for release 6.20 and 6.40. Since I appreciate ABAP Unit Tests as being very helpful I do not want to miss them even in such a situation.
    My approach is as following:
    - If possible, I try to separate the local classes from the tested object, for example:
    - Report or function group
         - contains an include like <z_include_ft01>
                - Within <i><z_include_ft01></i> I have a single stament <i><z_include_au01></i>
    The actual ABAP Unit Tests are coded in <z_include_au01>. Now if I need to ship the development to a release < 6.40 the only thing I need to do is to comment the single INCLUDE statement in <z_include_ft01>. This manual step cannot be ommitted (however, it would be simple task to define an eCATT doing this). In addition, include <z_include_au01> should not be in the transport request for the development (if it happened the import error would not affect the function of the development because it is no longer linked together).
    Advantage of this approach:
    - I clearly see that my development contains ABAP Unit Tests (use naming conventions for the includes) and
    - I can ship - with little effort - the development to SAP releases not supporting ABAP Unit Testing yet
    Regards

    This seems to be coming from the repository being marked as Shared repository. Appearantly sqldeveloper is issueing a different query, referencing TEST_USER_NAME, in that case. After I did a DESELECT AS SHARED REPOSITORY and drop/recreate of the repository the error ORA-904 no longer occurs.

    Hi Experts
    1)  Is there any control or validation to prevent creation of duplicate material? I mean, if the description of new material is 100% or 95% matching with an existing material, there should be a validation.
    2) Is there any feature of usage of catelogs for creation of material master description?
    warm regards
    ramSiva

    Hi,
    Have a try to use Enhancement: MGA00001, user exit: EXIT_SAPLMGMU_001 for control you need.
    You can also use BAdI for this:
    BADI_MATERIAL_CHECK -> method CHECK.
    In both enhacements there is a structure STEXT - here short text(s) of new created material should be found for validation.
    Here you can make some ABAP works necessary.

  • Unit Test Module cannot create repository

    DBA has created user with listed permissions in the documentation and Unit test repository creation is still stating basic permissions need to be met. In addition, I now need to upgrade my (nonexistant) repository and the basic permissions are still not met. What exactly does the repository admin require in oder to create a repository?
    Additional problems:
    When the dba types in the correct sys user password for that user to create the correct permissions through SQL developer, it states they are wrong. How does the sys user login as sysdba through that? That is our best guess as to why it won't recognize the password. This is also why I am asking what our DBA needs to simply get the admin user running.
    Also, after the repository is created, what permissions can be removed from that user? With our DBAs, less is more :)
    I appreciate any help; I realize this is a duplicate, but following other threads has not yielded results either.

    Hi sinistral -
    Instructions for setting up a unit test repository in a (dba friendly ;) ) locked down environment are in {message:id=3985967}
    +That link points directly to the message for minimum permissions set up. Alternatively, A few messages back is one with info on how a dba can set up the roles/permissions as SQL Developer would so you don't get asked for sysdba info and can use the shared repository feature. {message:id=3985438}+

  • Unit Testing and Code Coverage

    Is there any way to see graphs and charts of how much code was covered during Unit Tests in OBPM 10GR3 from the CUnit and PUnit tests?
    We use Clover Reports in Java Projects.
    Any such tool for OBPM 10GR3 projects?

    Here are some more
    Triggers and DB links are not available in Oracle Explorer - it would be great to have them in there - I found triggers under tables - but I would much prefer them to be broken out under their own node rather than nested under table
    I think others have mentioned this but when you query a table (Retrieve Data) - it would be great to be able to specify a default number of records to retrieve - the 30 second timeout is great - but more control would be nice - also a way to control the timeout would be nice as well
    I noticed that I get different behavior on the date format when I retrieve data (by selecting the option from the table menu when I right click on a table) versus getting the same data through the query window - why isn't it consistent?
    Also - with Intellisense - can you make the icons different for the type of objects that the things represent (like tables versus views versus functions)
    I noticed that I couldn't get dbms_output to show up with Intellisense - I had filtered out of Oracle Explorer all the System objects - does that somehow affect Intellisense as well? I know that the account I am using has access to those packages.
    Also - more control over collapsible regions would be nice - I love that feature of VS - but for ODT it seems to only work at the procedure level (not configurable with some kind of directive etc...)

  • Unit Testing and APEX Global Variables

    We've recently started to unit test our database level PL/SQL business logic.
    As such we have a need to be able to simulate or provide output from PL/SQL APEX components in order to facilitate testing of these components.
    Some of the most obvious portions that need simulation are:
    1. The existence of a session
    2. The current application ID
    3. The current page ID.
    We currently handle requirement #1 by using apex_040100.wwv_flow_session.create_new
    We handle 2 and 3 using the apex_application.g_flow_id and g_flow_step_id global variables.
    I'm just wondering, how safe is it for us to use wwv_flow_session.create_new to simulate the creation of a session at testing time for those things which need a session?
    I've also noticed that there are apex_application.get_application_id and apex_application.get_page_id functions whose output is not tied to the global variables (at least in our current version).
    Is it safe for us to expect that we can set these global variables for use in testing or is apex moving to get_application_id and get_page_id functions away from global variables?
    Will there be corresponding set_application_id and set_page_id functions in the future?
    Sorry for the question bomb. Thanks for any help.

    My first question would be why do you need to establish a session to test your PL/SQL?
    wwv_flow_session is a package internal to APEX, and you should probably leave it be.
    The get_application_id procedure you refer to is in apex_application_install, which is used for scripting installation of applications - not get/set of page ID like you're describing.
    If you're uncomfortable using apex_application.g_flow_id, you can use v('APP_ID') or preferably pass the app_id/page_id as parameters to your procedures.
    Your question seems to have a few unknowns, so that's the best I can describe.
