DUPLICATING  A FIELD

I AM CREATING A NEW DATABASE ON WICH I NEED 8 FIELDS WITH THA SAME ITEMS FOR CONTROL FOR ALL 8 , THE ITEMS FOR CONTROL ARE 45 , HOW CAN I DUPLICATE THE FIELD OR COPY THE ITEMS FOR CONTROL FOR THE REMAINING 7 FIELDS?

Hi and welcome to Apple Discussions and the AppleWorks forum.
Our hearing is pretty good in here, so there's no need to SHOUT. Apologies if the problem is that your CAPS LOCK key is broken, and that's the reason for your post being all in capital letters.
AppleWorks Help makes no mention of duplicating any type of field in a database, and I've never come across a means of doing so. I suspect you'll have to enter all 45 control items for each field.

Barry

  • Why are my duplicated form fields rotated 90 degrees?

I'm duplicating form fields from a portrait document (Doc 1) to a portrait document (Doc 2) that was originally landscape.
Step 1: I rotated the landscaped document (Doc 2) using the right toolbar under pages and saved the document.
Step 2: I inserted the portrait document (Doc 1).
Step 3: I duplicated the form fields from the Doc 1 to Doc 2 but the duplicated form fields are at 90 degrees.
    How do I correct this?

  • When duplicating a field, even when the original field is locked, the duplicated fields appear at different positions on pages that are the same size. How do I make them uniform?

I'm trying to put a hidden time stamp field on the bottom of all pages of a thousand page document, yet when I duplicate the field, the reproduced fields appear at different positions on different pages. Is there a way to make them all appear uniformly on each page. I've tried using the Lock function in the Properties menu before duplicating but to no avail. Please help.

I go to Tools>Forms> Edit...Do you want to detect...No. Add New Field>Text Field. I lay out my field at the bottom of the page, adjust the Properties (Hidden but printable, read only, font, alignment), Lock the Properties. Then I right-click and hit Duplicate.

  • ICloud duplicated Note field contents

I just migrated from MobileMe to iCloud on my 2 Macs and iOS 5 iPhone 4.
Afterwards the contents of the Note field in Address Book on the Mac and Contacts on the iPhone is duplicated or repeated in that field. All text is repeated below the original text.
But while this is the case for many contacts it is not true for all. Doing some random checking it appears to occur all the time if there are many lines of text in the Note field.
    Anyone else see this?
    Any diagnosis?
I would like to find out why so I can determine if it will happen again and also if there is other data that is compromised in some way.
    Thank you.

    OP adding information.
When I tried to correct the repeated text in the Note field for one contact, I found that in addition to repeating the existing text the migration or iCloud had added two "n"s in the middle of the Note filed for this one contact.
I deleted that "n"s on my Mac. However that change did not propagate to my iOS 5 device nor to my other Mac. But the deletion of the repeated text did work as did adding some test text.
    Any diagnosis?
    Thank you.

  • Duplicating form fields from one PDF document to another

    Hi,
Does anyone know of a way to select and duplicate all acrobat form fields from one PDF document into a new PDF document. I know I can do so one field at a time but would like to know if there is a way to do so in a wholesale fashion.
Our PDF documents are created in-house each year and are nearly the same as the previous year's document containing 99% of the same form fields in the same locations. These forms contain a lot of form fields, anywhere from 50 to 100 fields.
Rather than start from scratch each year defining the same fields that were present in the previous year's document, I am looking for a way to copy the form fields from an existing PDF document (last year's PDF in our case) and copy the form fields into a new PDF document (that does not yet have any form fields defined) and hopefully maintain all the field attributes and positions from the previous years document.
    Thanks for any suggestions,
    Steve

The PDF template we need to copy the form fields "to" doesn't start out having any form fields. It is the fields that we need copied from a previous year's PDF template.
Here's an except from my original post: "I am looking for a way to copy the form fields from an existing PDF document (last year's PDF in our case) and copy the form fields into a new PDF document (that does not yet have any form fields defined)"
The "new" PDF template is a complete "paper" form with updated legal text and calendar year referrences but NO form fields. In our IS group, we then take these forms, add form fields to them and are then able to populate them with database-resident user data. We serve them up to the user in their browser pre-populated with their application data.
So again, our need is to find a way to copy form fields from "last year's" PDF template and copy just the form fields to an fresh "new year's" PDF template that contains no form fields to begin with. What we begin with is just a PDF representation of a paper student loan application.
    Thanks for the suggestion!

  • Help duplicating a field on the same page.

    Hello,
I am trying to create a form which reads up wright but when placed sideways in a filing cabinet, a duplicate text field shows the file name that was entered in an upright field. Basically, typing the name into the field once and having that field dictate or duplicate itself in another field on the same page. Your help is appreciated
I am using acrobat 9 professional.

Just give the fields the same name and set the orientation of the upright field to 90 degrees:

  • AW Database: duplicating a field to every record.

Is there a way that I can duplicate a field from every record to a new field so I can alter it?

Field G (called 'Field 2' in this example) should be a calculation field as shown here:

  • Duplicating a field on a layout?

Does anyone know if you can duplicate a field on a layout?

    Hi Stphanie,
Welcome to the discussions and the AppleWorks forum.
Fields can be placed only one time on any particular layout. If you want to display the same data in more than one location, the easiest way to do so is to define a new Calculation type field that simply copies the data in the original.
Example: Original is in 'field 1'
    New field 'same as 1'
    Formula: 'field 1'

  • Populating the "number format" and "calculate" field properties?

I've been making a lot of Acrobat forms with an extremely large number of form fields (as in, over a hundred or more per form).
Each field has to have these properties:
-Set to Number format, with 4 decimal places specified
-Set the Calculate property with a simplified field notation (field1*field2), to perform multiplication, or, it's set wtih the "value is the (product) of the following fields" function.
Is there a way of copying these attributes to already pre-existing fields?  It appears that for already existing fields, if you want them all to have these same attributes, you have to set them one by one-- very tedious.  If you multi-select all fields at once, it doesn't let you set them all to the same calculation setting, and it doesn't even let you set them all to number format.
So, up till now I've simply made one (or a few) fields, set them to these properties, and then populated them by duplicating the fields, but-- I still then have then to go in and re-name every single field, so that each is a unique field-- also very tedious.
Is there some way that I don't know about, that would allow me to set these properties to multiple pre-existing fields at the same time?

    Unfortunately, no.
However, you can set the the field's calculation formula using a simple script.
Let's say your fields are called field1, field2, field3, etc. You can then run this code from the console:
    maxFields = 100; // let's say you have 100 fields
    for (i=1; i<=maxFields; i++) {
         f = this.getField("field"+i);
         if (f) f.setAction("Calculate", "event.value = this.getField('x').value * this.getField('y').value;");
Of course, you can adjust the formula to your own needs.
Make sure you use single quotes inside of the script when you want to specify a literal string.

  • How do I add State/Province and Country to my drop down list?

How do I add State/Province and Country to my drop down list?

    Hi Gen,
My problem is that I'm working with the free version of Form Central - I'm willing to purchase a version.  Earlier in my form I have States as a drop down menu (see below) but can't copy it to make it appear later in the same document. I was trying to avoid recreating the entire form. Any tips on copying or duplicating a field inside a document.
    Best Regards,

  • Is Acrobat the product I need?

Thought I would through this out there.  I am looking for a product to facilitate and streamline document flow and management.
Specifically: When we hire an independent associate, they must fill out redundant contracting paperwork with multiple (5-50) different carriers.  I would like to have these associates fill out one complete set of documents and from that source, the multiple contracts can be populated.  Is there an Adobe product that can complete this task?  I have Acrobat 8 from the Master's Collection, but do not know the extent of capabilities.
    Thanks, djf

Adobe sells Livecylce software that could automate this process online and provide for filling out the fields as much as you can without the independent contractor and then the independent contractor information could be propagated to the different documents. This would be an expensive way to do this. If you combine the documents for the 50 carriers into one document duplicating the field names for each carrier for information that would need to be the same, then it would propagate throughout the document for all 50 carriers. You could place a bookmark at the beginning of each carrier's documents so that the person filling out the documents could navigate the documents more efficiently or you could place the bookmarks where on the pages that contained the information the person needed to fill out.

  • HCM Processes and Forms - Create multiple records of one infotype (eg 0008)

    Dear all,
I'm trying to create two new records in infotype 0008 (basic pay). Regarding it's time constraint 1 it should like the following:
    Before
    01.01.2010 - 31.12.9999 - 2000u20AC
    After
    01.01.2010 - 08.11.2010 - 2000u20AC
    09.11.2010 - 31.12.2010 - 2500u20AC
    01.01.2010 - 31.12.9999 - 3000u20AC
So I want to add two splits two the record. One is easy, as it's done by the SAP_PA operation. I experimented with the record indices and duplicating my fields, but it didn't work. Another idea would be to retriggerd the SAP_PA several times using scenario steps.
Can you give me a hint, by which lever multiplee splits can be achieved? Or is this not possible at all?
    Thanks in advance,
    Peter

    Thanks for your fast reply.
Knowing this as a fallback is comforting. I just want to ensure, that I don't apply any coding, if a task is also possible by customizing.
Another idea I had in the meantime was to execute the SAP_PA several times. Do you have any experience, if this works to create multiple records in one infotype?

  • N's in address book

Address Book displaying "n's". What's up?

R.E. Smith and thousands of other users are frustrated with the insertion of "n" between duplicated NOTES fields in Address Book.  If you had 10 lines of text in your NOTES field after iCloud did a sync cycle you would end up with two sets of the 10 lines with an "n" between the two.  I have some address book entries with up to 6 duplicated sets of notes with "n" between each set of the duplicated lines.  This behavior started when iCloud syncing of address book records was introduced.  It seems to occur, for me, when I turn on iCloud on each device.  Since I have an iPhone, iPad and 3 Macs, I end up with a lot of duplicated notes fields with "n's" in between.
I've learned to go into EDIT mode before touching the NOTES field to keep any sync actions from starting while I'm editing.

  • Blocking of duplicate entry

We would like to block duplicate entries from being posted into our database especially the BP ref no field in the AP invoice.
I have read through a post which shows the procedure of doing this through an approval procedure. However, is there another way to prevent duplicate entries like this from adding into the database such that it blocks the user if he has duplicated this field rather than sending an apprval procedure? One way of doing this is by creating an SBO_SP_TransactionNotification which blocks the transaction from adding. Would someone be having a sample code for this?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Asif

    Hi
You can use this stored procedure in sp_transaction_notification. Please test this in test environment before you proceed.
/** block duplicate Vendor Invoice number **/
    if (@object_type = '20' or @object_type = '18')
    and (@transaction_type= 'A' or @transaction_type= 'U')
    begin
    declare @venno as varchar(100)
    if @object_type = '20'
    begin
    select @venno = NumAtCard
    from opdn
    where docentry =@list_of_cols_val_tab_del
    if 1 != (select count(docentry) from opdn with(nolock) where NumAtCard = @venno)
    begin
    select @error = 1
select @error_message = 'Duplicate vendor ref no in PO Receipts. ! '
    end
    end
    else
    if @object_type = '18'
    begin
    select @venno = NumAtCard
    from opch
    where docentry =@list_of_cols_val_tab_del
    if 1 != (select count(docentry) from opch with(nolock) where NumAtCard = @venno)
    begin
    select @error = 2
select @error_message = 'Duplicate vendor ref no in AP Invoices. ! '
    end
    end
    end

  • Duplicate fillabe page with different filed names..

Hi, i have one page fillable form (it has check boxes & fillable text fields). so i want to duplicate this page. but duplicating all field names should be unique. i mean i want to make 8 page filable form using my currant fillable page. but all the fields should be unique.( different pages i'm entering different details).. i don't no this is possible or not. if this is possible, pls help me. thanks in advance..

You probably already know that Acrobat can duplicate the field across pages (right click on the field and select Duplicate across pages). That does not accomplish a part of what you want to get - unique names.
    Take a look at http://try67.blogspot.in/2011/07/acrobat-copy-paste-field-to-multiple.html
