DVD Stuck in my Imac

*I have a DVD stuck in my iMac, can't see it on the desk top! Can I manually eject it, if so how?*
Help?
Minchroadster

Hi Minchroadster
Open Disk Utility and select the DVD's image in the left column, then go up and hit the blue eject button. If for some unknown reason the DVD's image is not shown in Disk Utility, restart your Mac holding the mouse button to eject the DVD.

  • Dvd stucked in my iMac

I put a normal-sized dvd into my iMac and when i wanted to eject it, it was almost out then it was sucked back in. how can I bring the dvd out?

    check out Kappy's user tip:
Five ways to eject a stuck CD or DVD from the optical drive
Ejecting the stuck disc can usually be done in one of the following ways:
    1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the left mouse button until the disc ejects.
    2. Press the Eject button on your keyboard.
    3. Click on the Eject button in the menubar.
    4. Press COMMAND-E.
    5. If none of the above work try this:
Open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder. At the prompt enter or paste the following: /usr/bin/drutil eject.
If this fails then try this:
Boot the computer into single-user mode. At the prompt enter the same command as used above.
To restart the computer enter "reboot" at the prompt without quotes.

  • DVD stuck in G5 imac - Keeps re-reading

Just put in a freebie DVD from a paper. I noticed it had four raised bumps around the centre of the hole... Couldn't remember seeing that on anything before but stuck it in ignoring my doubts.
Have tried ejecting it and my mac tries... but then it seems to change it's mind and quickly moves the plate back into position and begins to re-read it.
I have tried the following from other posts I've read:
*Lying the monitor on its side and pressing eject
*Restarting the Mac and holding down the mouse.
*Taping back the fabric - in an attempt to whisk out the DVD with an impliment with sticky tape attached (happens far too quickly)
Would like to try the 'OPEN FIRMWARE' that I see regularly mentioned, but have no idea how to get onto it before typing in everything.
Any suggestions or instructions to accomplish this or a new idea would be very, VERY much appreciated : )

    Try this:
    Switch on
    After the startup chime, press and hold the keys <command/apple> <alt/option> <o> and <f> ( ⌥ ⌘ F O )
At the command line prompt, type: eject cd
Hit Return, the optical drive will then open.
    Remove the disc.
    Type: mac-boot
    Hit return.
    Hope that works.

  • Got a home dvd stuck in my imac

i can not get this dvd out i try to click eject i try command and E at the same time but it will not come out please help thanks

This is a little harder not knowing which of the four generations of iMac you own. What does "About this Mac" from your Apple menu say about your processor. There are differenct types of optical drives in each generation.
Does the disk show on the desktop? If so, either drag its icon to the trash or right-click the disk's icon and select "Eject" fromt eh resulting contextual menu at the cursor.
If there is no icon on the desktop, restart the computer and hold the mouse button down during the restart.

  • DVD stuck. Can I turn it off?

I've had a DVD stuck in the imac for a few weeks now. I've got too many projects running to take it in to get fixed. Today the DVD is making a horrible noise trying to eject and I can't get it to stop. Instead of throwing it through a window is there a way I can turn off the DVD/CD drive to get it to stop from trying to eject?
    Thank you!

  • Compatible dvd drives with Intel iMac (mid 07)

    Greetings to all
I have a stuck dvd disc in my imac for about 2 weeks now. My drive was having major problems and now i think is the time i have to change it.
    My drive is a PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K06A.
Now i'm looking for a new drive to buy. The problem is that i can't find out for sure compatibles drives.
Could anyone please tell me compatible models ?
    Thanks a lot in advanced
PS. I had tried ALL the ways to unstuck the disc but nothing worked. The disc starting to come out, but it stucks before the slot.

Yep. I'm looking for a compatible drive as well.
Any suggestions on a usable superdrive or even blu-ray that will work in my 20" 2.4 GHz mid-'07 iMac?
There's got to be someone here who can give a pointer or two? I see a superdrive at OWC for G5 iMacs, but no word on if it's compatible with the Intels.
    Please help!

  • Australian CD Stuck in American iMac

An Australian CD of photographs is now stuck in my iMac. I tried to force eject it, and even though the iMac gave me the confirmation that the disc was effectively force ejected, the disc never popped out. How should I solve this problem?

How to Get a Jammed CD/DVD Out of an iMac Optical Drive:
Drag the CD icon to the Trash, reboot the Mac and hold down the mouse button, or the “Eject” button on your keyboard.
Launch Apple’s Disk Utility application, select the stuck CD and hit the “Eject” button.
Using the Terminal, enter the following command: drutil eject
If none of these solution works, there’s a good chance that there’s a hardware problem.  If you still have difficulty ejecting the disc from your iMac, the cause may be one of the following issues:
    UNEVEN EDGE OF THE CD
There are two levers on a slot-loading CD/DVD drive that help center a CD/DVD disc. Some CDs and DVDs have an uneven edge which can cause enough friction to prevent the disc from ejecting.
If this happens follow these steps:
Take a large paperclip and grasp it with one hand so that about three quarters of an inch, or 18 millimeters, extends beyond your fingers. Insert the paperclip into the CD/DVD slot about 1.5 inches, or 36 millimeters, from the left edge of the slot. See below.
    CD/DVD Slot
With the other hand, drag the disc icon on the desktop to the Trash to force the computer to eject the disc. When you hear the disc attempt to eject, slide the paperclip to the left edge of the slot and then remove the paperclip. You should feel a little resistance from the spring loaded centering lever. See below.
    Paperclip Inserted into the Slot
Once the disc has been successfully ejected, wipe the outside edge of the CD/DVD with your hands. Cleaning the edge of the disc in this way will reduce the likelihood of the disc becoming stuck again.
    BOTTOM COVER MISALIGNED
If the bottom plastic cover is misaligned it will prevent a CD or DVD from ejecting properly. You can usually tell whether the bottom cover is misaligned because the slot is distorted. If the top of the CD/DVD slot appears to be bowed downward then the bottom cover is probably misaligned. Contact your local Authorized Service Provider to correct the misaligned plastic cover.

  • How can I watch a DVD playing on my iMac on my TV using Apple TV?

How can I watch a DVD playing on my iMac on my TV using Apple TV?

You can't. The only way is to transfer the movie to your computer and import to iTunes (making sure it is compatible) and either use home-sharing or airplay the movie off an ios device.

  • DVD will play on iMac, not on DVD player

I'm burning dual layer DVDs from iDVD. The DVDs won't play on my DVD player, but will play fine using the DVD player on the iMac. Anyone have any idea why?

But for 6 hours of VHS video, it will take two DL DVD disks.
You might want to think about importing the footage into iMovie and editing it.
I put footage from about 35 VHS tapes and about 40 Hi-8 tapes onto miniDV tapes for importing into iMovie and found that there was a quite a bit of bad footage: shots of ceilings and floors, jerky movements, shots of nothing important. With good editing, the footage total time length was cut down, and I have been able to use single-layer DVDs for all my iMovies. I have put our family's photos and videos onto DVDs in chronologic order. I have now done 30 years worth--the last 10 years were recorded onto miniDV tapes so no conversion needed. Some years took only one DVD; other years had to go on several; a couple of years we were very busy on trips/doing plays and sports and it took 5 or 6 disks for the year.
If you are not interested in editing, you wouldn't need to use a computer, just get one of those VHS-DVD converting machines.

  • A duplicate DVD made on my iMac will not play on it although the original DVD will play on it and on my TV.  Answers?

I made a duplicate of a DVD on my iMac but it will not play on it.  The original DVD plays on my iMac.  The duplicate will play on my DVD player with my TV.  The original DVD is not a copyrighted commercial DVD.

That doesn't create a DVD. It makes a copy of the files on the DVD. All you did was put data files on the disk. A disk must be formatted correctly for a DVD player to recognize it as a DVD.
Use Disk Utility to make an image of the DVD, then burn the image to Disk.
    File menu, New>Disk Image from <DVD name>
Set the image format to DVD/CD Master.
Once the image is finished, select it in the Disk Utility Sidebar and click the Burn button.

  • DVD Plays on one iMac/Not another

    I've got 2 iMacs running 10.5.6.
    I've created a DVD on a Sony RDR-VXD655 digital DVD/VHS recorder/player.
DVDs created on the Sony will play on one iMac and not the other. On the one it won't play on the recorded DVD shows up as a blank DVD. The problem iMac plays commercial DVDs just fine.
I've tried to see what video utilities I have on the iMac that works and transfer them to the one that doesn't, but no luck. The only thing I haven't installed is Final Cut Express.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks... DHK

Contrary to popular belief, burning at the highest speed(s) are not recommended.
Burn at the slowest speeds that the discs can use.
When I would burn video dvd's. The newer drives had no problems, but the older drives wold complian, and spit out the discs.
I burn at the slowest speeds, now all of my dvd players are happier.

  • I used Roxio VHS to DVD for Mac (have iMac with Snow Leopard) and the audio does not synch with the video when playing in iMovie.  Any suggestions to fix?

I used Roxio VHS to DVD for Mac (have iMac with Snow Leopard) and the audio does not synch with the video when playing in iMovie.  Any suggestions to fix?

Thanks for the reply.  I tried playing with detaching the audio in iMovie, but with 20+ hours of video to correct, it would take too long.  After 28 hours, Corel/Roxio tech support replied that it is a known bitrate mismatch problem and they have no real fix.  I strongly suggest not to buy this product.
