DW/FW questions + general adobe site Q

Can someone help me with this missing information I have.
Is it correct that we can no longer purchase programs on CD? We can ONLY get a monthly subscription or something to this site in order to get programs?
If that is the case, after we get a subscription, and download the program... do you need the subscription beyond a month? This is weird. I dno't understand any of it.
Also, what package do you buy for FW and DW, together? Or has FW been discontinued? (as I do not see it under Products)
Which I hope is NOT the case! My gosh, it would be horrible if that were discontinued!

It was a few wks ago that I tried so I don't recall the specific message. I just know it would not install. So, I searched online only to find out it doesn't not install on Win8. Not too mention, I found quite a few people in the same boat as me, and none any happier about it lol.
You know, at work, we may be able to convince them to get us upgraded programs (although, no permission as of yet for updated DW or FW). But... work would NEVER pay a subscription fee. So, we will have to look for an alternative. I mean, we don't even have a means by which to pay a monthly fee. No credit card. Our system is still on cheques. We sometimes have use of a Department card but never could we have use of it for a subscription.
And when it comes to home users, we save for a VERY long, long time to be able to purchase these EXPENSIVE products. It is simply not feesible, or easy, to buy brand new, too often.
I had convinced my husband to get me DW & FW for xmas .... until I learned about this subscription bussiness AND that the two of them will cost $1,800
Last night he went onto some web site & found them for approx. $350 - $400 for each one. Making it about $800. SO... I might be able to get the DW for xmas... not sure about the FW. Maybe next Birthday. I have PS CS6 BUT... FW does what I need for web sites, SO much quicker & easier. I am doing some of this now, in PS instead (because I can't get FW loaded) and I tell you, what a complete pain in the arse doing some of these things in PS. FW is meant for the web stuff. PS is meant for pictures. I can even do what I want, to a picture, in FW, easier than PS.
Now, if PS were to combine some of the EASY to do stuff that FW has, it would really be a great program. Until then... FW is my choice. Where as my husband, who is into photography, uses PS more for those needs. & it likely suits him better for that. FW - not so much.
My use of DW is for non-profit organizations where I help them, for free as a volunteer, with their web sites. They don't pay people & for me to come up with $1,800 for a voluteer hobby, just isn't going to happen. Not to mention a monthly subscription.
It's really too bad because my favourite two programs are not longer accessible to me at home.

Errors with Adobe Site...

First I have tried Live Chat and I am immediately kicked off. I cannot get to the chat to ask a question. Also I click The link: "For information on migratiing sites that you previously created using the Business Catalyst extension, see Migrating Business Catalyst sites to Dreamweaver CS6." Some of the errors I have run into are simple stuff (it would seem to me) like broken links. While no one is perfect I have ran into many broken links some related to BC, some are just general Adobe and not BC. I had to search to find a few things when before the layout was simple. It seems a bit more convoluted when looking for different items. I image there where be some very unhappy partners (I know there already are as other forum post here reflect) as more changes happen.
I do want to add I get some of the change and think some are for the better in the long run just frustrating when trying to get things done.

LR3 download problems, Adobe Australia. Question for Adobe or anyone?

It's been several days now since I online-purchased my upgrade to LR3 from Adobe Australia's online store. Serial numbers came through fine by email, no problem. However, when I went to download the file from the link provided in the Serial number email, another issue altogether - Akamai download manager installs then chugs away until 99% download, then freezes the entire system requiring cold restart to resurrect things. Have now tried this several times, always with the same result.
The process does generate a file in the download target directory, called "Lightroom_3_LS11.exe.dlm", 164,378 Kb, as you can see it still has the .dlm extension.
Question to Adobe or anyone else who might feel they know: has Akamai simply failed to remove the .dlm extension, and if I manually remove the extension, is the file likely to work?
The 'alternative download method' on the download site provided to Australian customers seems to be a dead link, nothing happens when I click on that. Will have to try Adobe Australia's helpline, but that is only 9am-5pm Mon-Fri so I have to wait until next week (it's Friday night here and Monday is a public holiday). No 24/7 help in Asia Pacific it seems!
Note, I did check all of the security settings in IE8 for compliance with Akamai requirements before starting.
Very frustrating, particularly after having zero problems with online purchase/download of all previous versions (I've been a constant user since version 1.0). The difference this time seems to be the Akamai download manager, perhaps particularly in its implementation on the Asia Pacific download site, as US customers seem not to be having the same level of problems?

Just a further update re. my LR3 download problem:
I managed to successfully download the LR3 update file using another computer running Vista 64. That computer was also running different antivirus software (McAfee Security Centre) so that may perhaps also have had an effect.
So for anyone who may be be having similar problems, my experience downloading LR3 from the Adobe Australia website has been:
Akamai download manager failed to download the LR3 update file on the following system:
Windows XP SP3
Norton Internet Security 2010
Akamai download manager successfully downloaded the LR3 update file on the following system:
Windows Vista 64

Safari won't load almost all adobe sites

Everytime I do a google search or try to log into any Adobe site forum it doesn't work. Any question about Flash or Adobe product and the link starts with "http://www.adobe.com..." doesn't work. It is VERY frustrating! I've even tried resetting the browser and no luck. Try the link below, doesn't work.

You should now have a file named "hosts" on your Desktop. Double-click the file to open it in TextEdit, and verify that it has only the contents shown above, with any extra lines removed. If so, close the window without making any changes.
Next, go back to the Terminal window and enter one final command, again without typing:
sudo sh -c 'cat Desktop/hosts > /etc/hosts'
This time, you'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. Confirm. Quit Terminal.
Do not type anything in the Terminal window except your password.
That will fix the hosts file. You can now delete the file that was created on your Desktop.

How do i remove image links to adobe site with my dreamweaver built flash gallery ?

This is probably a very simple solution, but i can't figure out how to remove the link to the adobe site when you click on the images in my gallery--I built a site in dreamweaver used the insert media option and added my photos---when uploaded, my images in the gallery are clickable and take you to the adobe site...how do i make the images have no link??

Which version of DW are you running?
There are plenty of jQuery solutions and commercial plugins to create photo galeries.
Some require hand coding,

Please remember to unzip the file from your Downloads folder in order to load them into Lightroom.
What is the error in Lightroom?

Problem with finishing install of Flash Player on a Mac. When finishing by entering the requested password, the dialog box jiggles as if the p/w is invalid. But it works in the Adobe site.

I am trying to install Flash player on my Mac. All the steps are working as they should, until the point where I am asked to enter my password. I do this, and the dialog box jiggles as through the p/w were invalid. However, it works to sign in to the Adobe site. I just changed it to be sure and checked again.

There is no password required to download or install the Flash Player. Chances are your Mac is requiring you to enter its password to allow the installation to occur.

Some Questions on Adobe PDF Forms

I have some questions on Adobe Forms development (especially Adobe Forms in ABAP)
1)     In a form interface, in the Code Initialization can we use Object Oriented Syntaxes such as class method calls, etc?
2)     Can we declare Global Data variables with reference to Class References / Interfaces
3)     Can we use the latest ECC 6.0 enhancement framework to add code in the standard form interface to enhance / enrich some logic within the form? This is to avoid copying the form interface into a Z in order to enrich the form via coding?
Please let me know if this is possible at all and how

That is possible of course. You should use the PDFObject API for that requirements.
1. define a xml schema with all data given by SAP system.
2. create a form template which uses this schema as data connection
3. implement a java application (i.e. J2EE application) which:
- gets the data from SAP system and generates some pdf files (using PDFObject API)
- reads pdf files back to xml and submits the data to a BAPI

This is not the first time I get it, and it seems a recurring problem.

"My Adobe" site is permanently redirected to "Adobe ID" site. There is no way to retrieve serial numbers for CS 5.5 products and below.

How can I get my serial number for CS 5.5 Master Collection and CS 5.5 Captivate? This was retrievable only a few days ago using the "My Adobe" site at (adobe.com/account.html)
The My Adobe URL (adobe.com/account.html) has a permanent redirect to the new Adobe ID URL (accounts.adobe.com/) Just a few days ago, Adobe "My Products and Services" contained my collection of serials.Users now cannot access this URL at adobe.com/account/my-products-services.html with the redirect in place.
The new Adobe ID site "My Products" at (accounts.adobe.com/products) reports "You have no registered products." We need the "My Adobe" classic site back to access our registered serials.
Adobe should update their help documentation that references the old link (adobe.com/account.html) as well. Here are a couple of examples:

https://accounts.adobe.com/products shows all my products with their serial numbers back to 2005 when I first registered PSE2.0 that came bundled with my camera, and the two example pages with old links properly redirect to the Plans page and all I have to do is click View all products and again I will see my list back to 2005.
So things are working just fine for me. If it says you have no products, maybe there are changes still percolating through the server network that aren’t in place from where you’re surfing from, or maybe you have multiple AdobeIDs and are signed into the one that doesn’t have products registered to it.
In other words, things appear to be working just fine with my AdobeID using either the old links or the new links and so I’d reword the request to be that you want the new site to work properly. The old site did have another layout that required clicking into each product to see the serial number whereas the new site list everything on one page without clicking into anything. I prefer the new way.
