Dynamic Calc'd Member not picking up Sub Var changes  -  11.1.1.3

Hi,
We have a Dyn Calc'd member formula using a sub var on a member. When sub var is updated, values in member formula referencing the sub var don't update. We have stop and start the application for it to pick up the new sub var in the member formula.
any ideas?

Unfortunately you have to live by the definition in dbag which is in the post that Tim provided the link for but nobody seems to follow links these days :)
"To ensure that a new substitution variable value is available in formulas, partition definitions, and security filters, stop and restart the application. All other uses of substitution variables are dynamically resolved when used."

  • Automatic Payment Program(F111) not picking Bank Sub accounts

    Dear all,
    The entiries genertaed from automatic payment program(F111) is not picking the bank sub accounts (Receipts/Payment GLs) which are given in the following node:-
    Financial Accounting --> Bank Accounting --> Business Transactions -->Payment Transactions --> Payment Request --> Define Clearing Accts forReceiving Bank for Acct. Transfer
    It is picking the Main Bank GL, which has given in bank master(FI12).
    Please advise.
    Thanks & regards
    Ramesh Nair

    Hi,
    The config : Financial Accounting --> Bank Accounting --> Business Transactions -->Payment Transactions --> Payment Request --> Define Clearing Accts for Receiving Bank for Acct. Transfer
    Is to decide bank sub account of the sending bank, when you are doing Bank to Bank transfer. This is manditory for cash management bank to bank transfer. Please read the config documentation again.
    I just cut and paste from SAP documentaion.
    "In this activity you define the offsetting accounts for the receiving bank accounts for bank account transfers (payments between house bank accounts) which should be posted to when payment is made.
    The entries are necessary when payment requests are created for cash management payment advice notes that result from cash concentration, for example. The offsetting accounts for the paying house bank are determined by the payment program specifcations and the payment methods used. The offsetting accounts for the receiving house bank cannot be determined from these specifications, however, but can be defined in this section. "
    Now, when you are creating payments with F111 and if you want to get sub accounts for house bank you have to do the following config.
    F111 -> Maintain Configuration -> Bank determination -> Bank accounts ( for each accont id and payment method combination ).
    Then you will see payments from this sub accounts and you have to setup posting rule to clear this account if you are doing EBS.

    What is the most efficient way to automate batch scripts? Changing and updating substitution variables? I'm sure there are many ways to automate batch scripts. I was unsure how to do this with the Hyperion tools without purchasing a third party tool.

  • Data not replicated with partition and dynamic calc

    HI
    I am using Essbase 11.1.2.1.
    I want to use a replicated pratition wetween two Essbase BSO applications.
    But in my source application, I have to send an account ACCOUNT (level 1) with several stored members and 1 dynamic calc member with formula. Due to this Dynamic calc account, the partition doesn't work (data are not replicated).
    How could I do?
    Thanks
    Fanny

    You're right, dynamic calc account are not issues. I am using them in partition.
    But py issue is there :
    The source dimension is like this :
    TAX (Dynamic Calc)
    - 6xxxxxxx
    - 6yyyyyyy
    - 6zzzzzzz (Dynamic Calc) = formula
    The target dimension is like this :
    TAX
    And so I need to send TAX (Source) to TAX (cible).
    I don't think it is possible, but I would like a confirmation before using something else.
    I hope it is clearer now.
    thanks

  • Datacopy from Dynamic Calc member

    Hi All,
    Within a dense dimension(Accounts) I want to copy data from dynamic calc member to a stored member. Below is the structure of my dimension.
    Member X (~, Stored)
    Member A (Dynamic calc, TBLast)
    ----Member A1 (Dynamic Calc)
    ----Member A2 (Dynamic Calc)
    ----Member A3 (Member formula, Dynamic Calc, TBFirst)
    Now I want to copy data from Member A to Member X. I believe we cannot copy from Member A because it is a dynamic calc member, instead we can write a script which adds the children of Member A1, A2 and A3 provided A3 did not have member formula. I hope i'm right. Any suggestions will be highly appreciated. Using ver 11.1.13.
    Thanks

    Kevin,
    Unfortunately, I think this is the way it works. DATACOPY will not copy dynamically calculated members to stored members.
    Although it is not in the DATACOPY Tech Ref documentation, that's the way it works.

    You are going to have to come up with another way of copying the Scenario by summing the members into the target Scenario. It can be a pain because you're going to have to mind the creation of the blocks. SET CREATEBLOCKONEQ will be your friend on this one.

  • Dynamic calc member formula problem

    Hello Gurús!
    We are using a member called "Full Year" that is a Dynamic calc with a member formula that calls another dynamic calc. For any reason, it is not working when we try to retrieve it from Excel Add-in.
    Any ideas? Any problem for put a Dynamic Calc as member formula of antoher Dynamic calc?
    Thanks for your time!

    that can be the problem, depending on what dimension they are in, the order the two pass occurs could couse you issues. In cases like this I've had to put the entire calculation into the member I wanted to calculate and bypass the dependency

    I received the following from Hyperion. I had the customer add the following line to their essbase.cfg file and it increased their performance of Analyzer retrieval from 30 seconds to 0.4 seconds. CalcReuseDynCalcBlocks FALSE This is an undocumented setting (will be documented in Essbase v6.2.3). Here is a brief explanation of this setting from development: This setting is used to turn off a method of reusing dynamically calculated values during retrievals. The method is turned on by default and can speed up retrievals when it involves a large number of dynamically calculated blocks that are each required to compute several other blocks. This may happen when there is a big hierarchy of sparse dynamic calc members. However, a large dynamic calculator cache size or a large value of CALCLOCKBLOCK may adversely affect the retrieval performance when this method is used. In such cases, the method should be turned off by setting CalcReuseDynCalcBlocks to FALSE in the essbase.cfg file. Only retrievals are affected by this setting.

  • Dynamic Calc result different on each retrieval

    We're currently testing version 6.5.6 on an NT server. We have two formulas set to Dynamic Calc. On the first retrieval, the formulas seem to retrieve fine. After several retrievals (maybe 20) they stop working. After this, each retrieval will give a different result. It seems to cycle through a few different incorrect answers before it starts over. If I modify the outline, restart services or reboot the box, it fixes the formulas for a while. However, after several retrievals, it reverts to its bad behavior.These formulas work consistently in 6.1p3a.We have already tried adding CALCFGDEPOPT FALSE to the Essbase config file to turn off event 28. It did not solve the problem.

    Check your application log to see if the dynamic calc is dependent upon another dynamic calc member. If so you may need to make these members that calc incorrectly "Twopass" such that the first calculation is completed then the twopass calc is performed. You might also check the app log to make sure the dynamic calc members are not trying to perform the calcs off of members that have not been calculated yet. (i.e: they are below the cyn cal mbrs in the outline).

  • Datacopy of dynamically calc'd data

    In Essbase 6.5, I am looking to copy data in an ACCOUNTS dimension from one dynamically calc'd member to a level zero member but it doesn't work. Any ideas?

    The last 2 queries are getting optional data out of the DB.  The user is not required to fill out those fields but if they do, I want to get that data.
    I have designed it this way following the instruction of the book "head first php and my SQL" by Head First Labs.  It said that you should minimize duplicate data in a table as much as possible to keep them small.  Instead put the data in a separate table and reference it with a key.  Your tables should only describe one specific thing, so thats what I did.  I have them linked with foreign keys and primary keys.
    In my case each user can have a vehicle saved for them, maybe 2 or 3.  for each vehicle they have the option of listing a car audio setup for that vehicle.  Now when they change their setup and update it on the site, a new setup entry is made.  That way the old pics/video of their old setup are still correct and all new pics will be correct as well.     So essentially each vehicle can have maybe 5. 10 setups linked to it.   Hence the separate table for video data, vehicle and setup.  make sense?
    As for the joins, I was kind of confused on how to do it correctly with my particular queries. And since the 2nd and 3rd queries dont always need to be executed, i thought if i left it as 3 it might save some execution time as only 1 short query needs to be executed.
    what is your opinion on the matter?
    and what do you mean by procedural language? like if/else?

  • Dynamic Calc Member in formula not working

    Hello,
    I am having an issue trying to calculate a dynamic calc member in a calc script.
    Lets say this is our outline:
    OC_GRANDPA (Dynamic Calc)
    OC_PART1 (Dynamic Calc) (+)
    Child1 (Calculated at top of calc script - STORED member) (+)
    Child2 (Calculated at top of calc script - STORED member) (+)
    OC_PART2 (Calculated in middle) of calc script - STORED member [NO CHILDREN] (+)
    I need to use OC_GRANDPA in a formula
    Final = OC_GRANDPA * .05 Rate;
    It is giving me 0 when I run the calc the first time and works if i run it a second time. Is this issue two dynamic calc members? I tried making them twopass and no luck either. I really do not want to make them stored then do a calc dim (accounts) in my calc script. Any other ideas?? If I make my formula use the level 0 members and not the OC_GRANDPA it works but that is not good coding in case I added more Children Id like to automatically pick up. PLEASE HELP!!!! Thanks!

    Thanks Cameron! I think I actually posted my mini hierarchy incorrectly as I am trying to put a formula on a different member under grandpa that has no children. Regardless it kept coming up zero -- all of the level 0 members are also calculated in the script. After much trial and error I ended up using the calc script for fomulas for the level 0's then I put a member formula on the member that I could not get to calculate in the script and also made it two pass. So then my calc script has the formulas for the level 0, a Calc Dim (Accounts) to perform the agg and calc the member formula then a calc two pass to calc yet another formula that uses this member.
    I do however now have a different question regarding member formulas - do you know if they calculate top down or bottom up?

  • Data not rolling up of a dynamic calc member for a particular entity

    Hi,
    In my planning application data is not rolling up of a dynamic calc member for a particular entity whereas it is working fine for other entity.
    Please find below the sample Smartview Retrieve
    ----------------Member_ALL---Member_None---Member Top---Member_ALL---Member_None---Member Top

    Acc1------------100----------------#--------------------#---------------122---------------#-------------------122
    NOTE: # denotes missing
    Member_ALL and Member_None are children of Member_Top. Both Member_ALL and Member_Top are Dynamic Calc whereas Member_None is Store.
    As shown above data is rolling upto Member Top for entity 2 while it is not getting rolled up for Entity 1.
    Request you to please help in finding the error.
    Thanks in Advance'
    Joseph

    Hi Joseph,
    Is Acct 1 Dynamic Calc? In that case will it NOT calculate the combination MemberTop->Entity1 as Member_ALL->Entity1 + Member_None->Entity1.
    I beleive it'll calculate the Acct1 member again for Member Top based on the dynamic formula (whatever the logic). If you make it Acct1 Stored, then the aggregation will be correct by first calculating and storing the Acct1 member and then AGG the Member dimension.

  • DATACOPY from Dynamic Calc Member not working

  • @ATTRIBUTESVAL works properly in Calc script but not in Member Formula.

    We are using Essbase 11.1.2 –
    "Global_Period" is a Dynamic Calc Member. Below is its Member Formula:
    "ProjType " is an attribute (text) dimension.
    "Global_Period" ="ValidAccount";

    AND @ISLEV("Tot_Org",0) AND NOT @ISIDesc ("Service_Division") AND @ISLEV("Tot_PRJ",0) )
    "Global_Period"->"No_GL_Account"-> @CURRMBR ("Projects") =
    1* "ValidAccount"->"Global_Version" ->"Global_Scenario"->&Budget_Year->"Global_Entity"->

    The Calc Script below is exactly equivalent to the Formula, and run perfectly with no Errors.

    @MEMBER(@NAME(@CONCATENATE ("Proj_",@ATTRIBUTESVAL("ProjType"))));
    SET CREATENONMISSINGBLK OFF;
    ENDFIX
    For many reasons we prefer to use the Dynamic Calc Formula for "Global_Period".
    As result of some checking I discover that the problem is with the function @ATTRIBUTESVAL,
    because the formula has worked fine when I replace the @ATTRIBUTESVAL with a string.
    Please help, what is the right way to write the formula in order to make it work.
    Thanks
    Tami Kedem

    Dear Cameron Lackpour,
    Thank you very much, for your reply.
    I'd given it a try, but it didn't help.
    The purpose of this formula is as follow:
    We holds 1's (ones) for allowable combinations of "Project_Type and Accounts", namely, each project type has different list of accounts that are allowed for input.
    I need to populate the input 1's to all projects (and their children) according to its "ProjType".
    The Data forms has periods in columns, thus by putting "Global_Period" (Hide) as the first column, and use "Suppress Missing rows" - for each project (on the "Page") , the form will show just the allowable Accounts in rows.
    (we have around 300 Accounts, 50,000 members in Project dimension and around 25 Types of projects).
    Please help.
    Thanks!

  • Dynamic Calc Member with Formula to Calculate a Rolling 13 Year

    I have to create a rollup in my time dimension that will have 13 members representing each month of a 13 rolling forecast. I am having trouble setting this up as dynamic calc members with a formula assigned to it. For example, on of the members has the following formula.
    As you can see, I am referencing several substitution variables since I want to make this as most dynamic as possible without having to make any changes to the formula member. Only making changes to the substitution variable. Any help would be much appreciated.
    IF((@ISMBR(&Current_Year)) AND (&Act_RF_Last_Month == "Jan"));

    ELSE #Missing;
    ENDIF
    IF((@ISMBR(&Current_Year)) AND (&Act_RF_Last_Month == "Aug"));
    "RTM 6" = @SHIFT(&Act_RF_Last_Month,-7);
    ELSE #Missing;
    ENDIF
    IF((@ISMBR(&Current_Year)) AND (&Act_RF_Last_Month == "Sep"));

    "RTM 6" = @SHIFT(&Act_RF_Last_Month,-7);
    ELSE #Missing;
    ENDIF

    We use similar logic but its in a calc script, not a dynamic formula.
    Here's an example of what we do:
    FIX (&Year, &Scenario)
    IF (@ISMBR("JAN"))
    "Average Usage%" = @AVG(SKIPBOTH, @MDSHIFT("Usage %"->"DEC"->&actYear, -1, "Year",), "Util %"->"JAN"->&actYear);
    ELSEIF
    ENDFIX
    Another example in a different database:
    IF (@ISMBR("JAN")) ((@MDSHIFT("Fees"->APR,-1,YEARS,)+@MDSHIFT("Fees"->MAY,-1,YEARS,)+@MDSHIFT("Fees"->JUN,-1,YEARS,)+@MDSHIFT("Fees"->JUL,-1,YEARS,)+@MDSHIFT("Fees"->AUG,-1,YEARS,)+@MDSHIFT("Fees"->SEP,-1,YEARS,)+@MDSHIFT("Fees"->OCT,-1,YEARS,)+@MDSHIFT("Fees"->NOV,-1,YEARS,)+@MDSHIFT("Fees"->DEC,-1,YEARS,)+"Fees"->JAN)/10)*12;
