Dynamic Link to Encore from Premiere Issues

I created a simple After Effects composition and Dynamic Linked it to Premiere Pro. (All CS4 Programs)  I completed the editing process, and Dynamic Linked my timeline into Encore.  In Encore, the Premiere Pro timeline appears, but it does not represent the After Effects composition within the Premiere Pro Timeline.
I am unsure as to why this occurs.
Also, I have issues with getting the DVD's I burn to play in other computer/DVD players.  The discs I create work perfectly fine in my computer, as well as my DVD player but I am unsure why they do not work in other people's devices.  The discs are DVD-R discs.

So you must downrez at some point in the workflow. Some users have problems and/or think they get better quality out of direct PR/AME exports than using DL for this purpose.
I would test the workflow by creating three short test sequences - one with a clip from one camera, a second from the other, and a third with both in a sequence using the same settings you are using in your edit. I would use the "drag a clip" to the new item method for making each of the first two sequences. By short I mean 30 seconds to 2 minutes with a mixture of still and action.
Export using whatever method you pick of those recommended, but use CBR 8 instead of VBR etc. Bring the resulting files into Encore. Yes, look at the files exported on the computer, and look at Encore preview, etc, but also burn to a disk and watch on multiple TVs. There are lots of issues in best quality.

  • Adobe Dynamic Link or Export from Premiere and load into Encore?

    Hi
I'm making some tests about authoring DVDs and Blu-Rays from Encore CS6. My video editions are made in Adobe Premiere Pro CS6.
Looks like I have 2 ways to send contents from Premiere Pro to Encore.
    1) I can set all my editions in Premiere Pro, then Export the entire timeline to a MPEG-2 DVD or MPEG-2 BLU-Ray file, then start a new Encore project and import this video file as a timeline.
    2) I can finish my editions in Premiere Pro, then use the Adobe Dynamic Link > Send to Encore options. So, it's not necessary to export files, since the task of transcoding is an Encore's task.
Question is: Any advantage of using way 1 or 2??? Thinking about speed to finish the job, is one way better than other?
What do you use do choose?
    Thank you for these tips
    Gustavo.

    Hi Stanley
Thank you very much for your tips. Just one thing:
In Premiere we can choose, for Blu-Rays, the MPEG-2 or H.264 codecs. You mentioned the H.264 Bly-Ray choice.
Any advantage regarding the H.264 instead of the own MPEG-2 coded?
Best Regards and thank you very much again.
    Gustavo.

  • Color Correction in Encore from Premiere

When I open my Encore project which consists of a Master show from Premiere (composed of multiple timelines), it doesn't see the color correction used in Premiere.
Curiously, Encore 5.1 does (although this was fraught with transcoding issues, hence my jump to 6).

No. Original was created in premiere 5.5 and dynamically linked to encore
5.1 via timelines containing the various sequences from premiere. The
burned dual layered dvd would freeze at 7:24 in the 5th chapter and return
to the main menu.  I opened that encore project in encore 6 and burned a
fully-functional did with the exception of the encore 6 project wouldn't
see the color correction effects from the premiere5.5 project to which it
    was directed.

CS 4 Dynamic Link to Encore doesn't work most of the time.  Encore stops operating after opening and periodically Premier Pro stops working.  I'm told that there has been a problem with CS4 when using Dynamic Link to go to Encore and build CD's.  Is there a way around this?  Is there a patch to correct it?

    To build CD's???
What problem does Encore have with DL?
If DL is not working properly for you the way around this is to export from Premiere to either mpeg2-dvd for DVD or BluRay H.264 for BD-disks and import the files in Encore.

  • Dynamic Link AE Comps in Premiere

Is there a max number of AE comps that can be dynamicly linked in a single Premiere sequence?
    Thanks

    I have never found one.
I suppose that memory might be a limitation. While playing around with the concept of some limitation, I linked to some comps while watching my Resource Monitor. It didn't take long to get to over 10G of RAM in use just having Ae and Pr and my browser (Google Chrome) open. And it was just a 90 second sequence. I messed around a little more and it jumped to 15G. I have 32G so it was no real strain, but I can see where enough comps might prove to become a problem.
Worse comes to worse, if you ever found one, you could just render out the comp. I use Cineform, so loss of quality on export is not really an issue. Other codecs might begin to show wear and tear if you try that.

  • Export to Encore from Premiere - Set DVD Title?

    I am new to Encore.
I tried to Export to Encore from Premiere. The DVD turns out fine, but the DVD is named "Untitled Project" and I'd like to give the disc a custom title.
I saved the Encore project, gave the disc a title, and the titling works out fine, but the DVD has no sound.
I have tried both of these processes two times each, and the same thing happens.
Given the choice between a custom title and sound, I certainly want the disc to have sound. But how do I get both?
    Help help help.

    Thank you for your reply.
I used a short disc title in Encore, which was PANDORA. The titles winds up on the DVD, but no sound.
But when I export the video from Premiere to Encore, I don't see a place where I can enter a custom name. So it names the DVD Untitled Project. Can you tell me where that is in Premiere?

  • PPro Dynamic Link To Encore (File Allocation)

    Hello all,
First, I've just started using PPro CS5 and what a treat it's been.  Thanks to the Adobe team and to the regulars in the Hardware Forum for all the help.
If my work flow is:  Assets > Edit In PPro > Dynamic Link to Encore > build IMG... then what would be the best way to spread the files across a 4-drive system?
    System
    -  W7-64 bit, Prod Prem with PPro 5.0.1 (and now 5.0.2 as of last night)
    -  i7930 OC 3.4GHz (water cooled)
    -  Asus P6T SE
    -  12GB RAM
    -  GTX470 (with hack, but no longer needed after last night )
    -  Coolermaster Haf X
    -  Antec 1000W power
    -  C:  OS and programs (150 GB Velociraptor)
    -  F:  PPro project and source files (captured videos and music) (F3)
    -  G:  PPro media cache, preview files (F3)
    -  H:  "masters", page file (18 GB) (F3)
    -  no option to Raid (will most likely happen in the distant future)
    -  DVD-R, BD-R
    -  so far this system is "fast" and stable for me.  Loving it!
    Project
    -  DV > DVD (basic editing with no files or apps applying out-of-the-ordinary tasks)
    -  Future Use:  HDV > BDR (basic editing with no files or apps applying out-of-the-ordinary tasks)
    Thoughts
    -  I'm fairly confident in my PPro allocations after reading Generic Guidline For Disk Setup (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/662972) but always looking to tweak and improve.  This is more with the addition of Encore to the mix.
    -  I'm thinking the Encore files would go on G and the IMG file would be kicked out to H.  But if Encore makes heavy use of the media cache and previews on G, then maybe the Encore files and IMG should go on H.  Opinions?
    -  Any better way to allocate the files?
    -  Any suggestions on my page file size/location?
These initial projects are also my way of fine-tuning my new work flow, computer configurations/settings,
    Thanks,
    Erik (Pyramid Pyro)

When you dynamic link to Encore, you send it nothing really: it opens an instance of the pproheadless which gives Encore what it wants until it is time to transcode it, and then it compresses the PR sequence using the Encore settings you set for the project and for that sequence (ones like the ones Encore tells you it can't load). So yes, it matters.
Has Encore CS5.1 (the version that is part of PR CS5.5) worked for you before?

  • Premiere Pro CS4 dynamic link to Encore CS4

I'm a newbe and I have a fundamental question about the Premiere Encore workflow. When I edit a project in Premier and I use the File>Dynamic Link>Send to Encore command, I get "Start New Project" from Encore. How do I update the edits I did in Premiere to a current project in Encore? Is there a way to Dynamic Link Premeire edits while I'm in Encore?

I have the exact same problem. I linked them together, but when I made the change in Premier Pro, the changes did not update in Encore. Everything
I read and watch on Adobe says it will happen automatically, but I'm not seeing it happen. Is there any way to replace an existing timeline in Encore with its updated sequence in Premier?

  • Exporting to Encore from Premiere

    Hi all,
I have Premiere Pro CS6 and I have completed my ediring in Premiere. I am ready to export the work so I can place it into Encore and do more work.
However in Premiere , I go to export, media and do all the settings. Yet I cannot work out what option to use so the work can be recognised by Encore.
Also is their an option like their was back in CS3 were you can export your work straight to Encore?
    Thank you

    1. In Premiere Pro, select a sequence.
    2. (Optional) Add Encore chapter markers, if desired. See Add Encore chapter markers.
    3. (Optional) If you are producing a sequence for standard-definition output that includes high-definition clips, select Maximum
Render Quality before using Dynamic Link to send the sequence to Encore for DVD authoring. This does not apply to HD
sequences that use Dynamic Link for Blu-Ray Disc authoring.
    4. Choose File > Adobe Dynamic Link > Send To Encore.
    5. On the Basic tab in the New Project dialog box, type a name for the disc into the Name field.
    6. (Optional) Click Browse and browse to a location for the Encore project, to change it from the default location.
    7. In the Project Settings pane, select the name of the authoring mode desired.
The sets of options available in the Settings area and on the Advanced tab depend on whether Blu-ray or DVD is the
    authoring mode.
The authoring mode can be changed at any time in Encore, in the Project Settings dialog box.
    8. (Optional) Click Advanced, and select the desired transcoding settings.
    9. Click OK.
Premiere Pro starts Encore. The Encore Project panel contains the dynamically linked Premiere Pro project and sequence.
    10. Finish authoring and exporting in Encore. For more information about using Encore to author and build DVDs, Blu-ray discs
and SWF files, see Encore Help.

  • Audio not transferring to Encore from Premiere Pro CS6

I'm trying to export a sequence through the Adobe Dynamic Link from Premiere Pro CS6 to Encore and the audio is not transferring with video. The video is 30 minutes long with multiple video and audio tracks. The video came through fine, but no audio track. However, I also brought a timeline into the project that was less than 3 minutes and the audio track came with it. Any suggestions/help much appreciated! Thank you!

Yes--that is correct. Audio track in Premiere but no audio track present in Encore. I believe the audio format in Premiere is Stereo. It is HD footage shot on a C-100 camera. The sound was recorded into the camera and all brought in together. I did end up doing the work around that was suggested and just exported an MPEG2-DVD and pulled the audio in manually. But, would love to try to figure out how to make it work directly using Adobe Dynamic Link. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

  • What encode setting are used when sending to Encore from Premiere?

    Hi All,
I have a an HDV 1440x1080 30p video and sequence in Premiere CS4. If I export it to AME, i can set the output format and presets to whatever i want. In my case, I set AME to Format: "MPEG2-DVD" and Preset: "NTSC Progressive Widescreen High Quality" and leave the other settings alone.
However, when I send the sequence via Dynamic Link from Premiere CS4 to Encoder and press on the build button, what default settings is Encore CS4 using to create the DVD?
I am assuming that i can bring up "Export Settings" in Encore prior to building to alter the default export settings and in my case i would use the Encore Export Settings:
    Format: MPEG2-DVD
Preset: Progressive High Quality 7Mb VBR 2 Pass
and leave the other Encore export settings alone.
BTW, i think its interesting that the default export settings for MPEG2-DVD, Progressive (Standard and Widescreen) High Quality in AME from both Premiere and Encore have different basic video, bitrate and GOP settings.

The 'Automatic' transcoding setting is dynamic - it changes whenever you add or subtract from the project. One of the main benefits of using it is that Encore will automatically calculate the bit budget for your disc.
But if it's somehow not working out, you need to reconsider using it.
Normally, I do my own bit budget (there are several online bit budgeting apps out there). But then, I'm a 'manual' kinda guy...

  • Why Dynamic Link to Encore when CUDA doesn't help Encore?

Ok, so I just finished cutting together a 90 minute video and used Dynamic Link to bring it to Encore. My source files were AVCHD and HDV mixed, so Encore had to transcode them. I attempted to do a transcode before burning, and got all the way to 99% in the transcode when I got an error message saying that I couldn't transcode the file because it was open in another program (I had closed PPro, but apparently it was still open?). Anyway, I tried hitting "build" and got the same error, again at 99%. So I went back to PPro and used it to export an mpeg2-dvd file which I then imported into Encore and burned to DVD.
Now, though I would appreciate some suggestions as to the source of my error when transcoding with Dynamic Link, that's not the root of my post... here it is: I'm not likely to use Dynamic Link again when Encore's (failed) transcode took nearly two hours for my 90 minute video, while doing a direct export from Premiere took only 40 minutes. I can only assume that the difference in time is because PPro is a) 64 bit, and b) can take advantage of the CUDA (I did all my CC and transitions using CUDA effects). Until Encore hits 64 bit and can take advantage of CUDA, I doubt I'll be using Dynamic Link again... anyone have any insight or comments?

I'm not sure that the information is correct.  Test project with dynamic link from PR to EN.  I right-clicked and picked transcode now.  Using windows task manager processes, the only programs using cpu are encore (60-80%) and premiere (10-20%). I happened to have AME open, but it was using zero.
I do not have a CUDA card, but I don't think it matters for this test.
I thought we had been told (probably in CS3 or CS4) that Encore was using ame, but this doesn't look like it.  What engine is actually doing the EN transcoding?  It certainly appeared to be running internally to Encore.  Is there any difference in how Encore is transcoding between using "transcode now" versus transcoding through "build"?
