Dynamic update to Excel data

Hi Friends,
I have couple of requirements on xcelsius documents. The details are as under:
1. Swf file will have column charts and sliders or Grid. When the value is changed for any one series in the chart by sliders, we need the value to be updated into the underlying Excel. Is it possible.
2. The other issue is In the Column chart Original values are sorted by value from left to right - left being the least value. When the simulation is done using sliders and few of the most expensive values will be adjusted the chart need to be re-sorted either auto or manual sort button. Is it possible.
I am new to xcelsius product.
Any guidance is helpful.

1. This is precisely how Xcelsius works. As a Slider that is bound to a cell is moved, the value in the cell changes. The chart then displays whatever value is in the cell and will update as the value changes.
2. Xcelsius does not provide a "sort" feature. This functionality can be accomplished by building the logic into your spreadsheet. For example, you have data in A1, A2 and A3 that is in sequential order (10, 15, 20). You have a slider that is bound to A2. When the slider is dragged, A2 changes to 30. The values are now out of sequential order (10, 30, 20). To resolve this, you could create a second row that uses formulas in B1, B2, B3 to re-order the values. The simplest formula would be using the SMALL function (array,k). This way, no matter what values are in A1, A2, A3 they will appear in the proper numerical order in B1, B2, B3. You would then bind the chart to display the data in B1, B2 and B3.

I would like to send a template e-mail to each sales rep at "PC.com" that says:

I would like all the data for each customer to go to the sales rep. For instance, Jim should get an e-mail stating that "Pear Computing" has two items, and a separate e-mail stating that "Orange Computing" has two items. What I want to avoid is the MS Word mail merge solution that equates to Jim getting 4 emails. I would like the equipment to be grouped by customer number or account number. I would prefer to have a dynamic layout with flowed page as the number of items per customer will vary.

Dynamically Update External Table Data

I loaded a data table from an external csv file. But the csv file is an output from a program that appends a new line to the csv file every couple days.
I made a Report with the loaded data, but in a couple days when a few new lines of data appear in the csv file, I want my report to update as well.
Is there a way to create a "Refresh Button" in my application that will load the data from the csv when pressed?

what you describe could certainly be achieved, but it would have to be designed and built, it is not going to be provided "out of the box". I would probably go with an external table based on your file and a process that you would build would be callable from the button and this would do some sort of a merge of the external table data into your database table. Apart from being callable on demand, the process could also be made to be a scheduled process that loads the data on a regular basis, say once a day or once an hour, depending on your requirements. To use an external table it is assumed that the file will be available on the database server. If not and the file is available on only a client machine, then doing an on demand load process would still be possible, but a little more difficult.

Since i am dynamically importing the excel data, every time the position of the date fild is going to change. For static its ok that i know that V3 is going to be a date.
But for dynamic date may be at position V22 or at any place.
please suggest something.

Thanks for the reply. Yes i understand what exactly you are saying.
That's why i have created a test table. All fields in the table are of varchar2 type and no constraints were given to the table and import the data to test table.
Once the data is imported to test table, then i am inserting data to my original table i.e CRM_DELT_IMPORT. I have written the following code for that.
But when i press the button i got the error
FRM-40735:WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED trigger raised unhandled exception ORA-00001
my CRM_DELT_IMPORT have composit key on ("ROUTE_ID", "DELDATE", "DELSNO", "PROFILE_ID")
I also inserted few records with normal insert on SQL prompt , records gets inserted in to the table.
But when i use the form for insert and click on button of insert i get the error.
I also check that records gets imported in test table but not get inserted into CRM_DELT_IMPORT table (with the help of form. )
(can i use IGNORE_ROW_ON_DUPKEY_INDEX here? and how?)
Please help me in this problem.

Unable to create or update the Excel Personal data provider in Web Rich

Iam getting the below error message ,when iam using Excel as personal data provider in WEBI Rich Client.

Was this issue resolved? I see this post has been marked answered but there wasn't any information on what it took to resolve the issue.
We have our CMS and processing servers on Linux while our Scheduling servers are on Windows. The WEBI reports with external data providers fail to run on Infoview/ scheduler.
We were told this is addressed in FP 3.6 but that is not the case. We installed FP 3.6 but still continue to see these errors. It required us to manually deploy the ExtensionFactoryService package for enabling the refresh of such reports on infoview/schedulers. It also involves placing of the file used [.xls/.txt] on the linux server on the PersonalDPFiles directory.
No luck so far!!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Dynamic update of swf file

Hi,
In an excel sheet I've connected to an SQL server table through 'Import Data' functionality. This excel has been used to create a dashboard in Xcelsius. Whenever the backend data is changed, the excel and the dashboard in Xcelsius is getting updated.
Is there any way to dynamically update the dashboard in the generated swf file also whenever the backend data is changed?

Have a Refresh component in your dashboard and set to refresh the connection in the properties...
So when ever you click Refresh button...it will refresh your connection and get the latest data in your dashboard.

Excel Workbook with Excel Data Model stored on SharePoint - daily refresh

I'm not sure if this is exactly the right forum but I'm hoping that someone here can either answer or point me in the right direction.
I have an Excel Workbook with an Excel Data Model.
The Excel Data Model uses SQL to contact our data warehouse and pull through data into tables.
We are storing the Workbook on a SharePoint site and viewing it using Excel Services.
The data in our data warehouse is updated daily and so I would like to refresh the workbook daily and remove the option to refresh the data in the browser.
Is this possible with a workbook that has an Excel Data Model (I've seen lots of posts that relate to workbooks with connections to tabular models).

Refresh Excel data/charts reports in sharepoint

Hi all,
I created an Excel report with some Pivot Charts, starting from a
Sharepoint list data.
The Excel is saved in a document library of the site.
The aim is to keep Excel data/charts updated with the values of the corresponding
list.
When I open the Excel with Excel Online and click on "Data" - "Refresh all", I see no updates.
Anyway, if I export the Excel on my pc and click on refresh data, I can see the updates.
Any solutions? Thanks in advance

You can't refresh the SharePoint List data in Excel this way. I thought you are using SharePoint server then you need to configure power pivot for your form after that you can get the Odata feed from the SharePoint list using the Odata source you can refresh
the data in excel online.

Upload Excel data to Sharepoint list VIA infopath form

Hi,
I'll try to explain the process of what I want to do first.
1. In Excel
I have an exceldocument (XLS, XLSX or XLSM) with 4 named columns and a named worksheet saved locally on my computer.
I want to upload this data into preferably a custom list in sharepoint but it needs to run via a infopath template first.
2. In Infopath
The Infopath template will prompt the user to specify values in 2 additional fields.
After giving input to these fields user may browse for the locally stored excel document and upload the document.
In the same infopath template a dynamic array should be visible containing 6 columns (4 from excel + 2 from headerlevel of template) and the amount of rows based on the number of rows from excelsheet.
At the end of template a submit button is found for uploading the entire array into sharepoint custom list.
Is this possible to do at all?
NOTE! End user should not have to save the excelsheet as XML file nor do a XML mapping.
Infopath should, perhaps with help of VBA read excelsheet and transfer data to correct destination in sharepoint on it self.

Hi Jonas,
You can attach your Excel doucment into InfoPath form and send InfoPath form to a custom web service. Then you can parse the Excel data and combine the Excel data and additional fields into SharePoint list in the customized web service.

Getting error message when i am trying to update the excel file using script task in ssis package

SSRS Dataset Column MetaData dynamic Update

Hi All,
I have report which is dynamically pivoting columns in the query ,i need to update those dynamic columns on the ssrs column metadata fields on the data set,cross tabbing using tablix doesn't work for my logic ,is
there any way ,the column names can be updated when new columns get added .
As an example
If my dataset query is dynamically pivoting sales data against months when month changes, i need the new month to be update in the data set fields

Region1 Product2 Sep Oct Nov

According to your description that you have columns(Month) which need to update in the DB sometime, so this fields need to update in the report too, you try to use pivot function in the query to make them update dynamically on the report but failed, right?
I have tested on my local environment and we can make it dynamic increase by using the matrix, you have mentioned matrix not support the logic, I think you problem can be caused by the wrong way you design the matrix, you can use the unpivot function to
turn the column name of month to a single row and create an matrix to put the month name in the column group ,Details information for your reference:
1. Put the query below to the dataset:
SELECT Region, Product, Col , Amount
FROM
select Region, Product,Col1,Col2,Col3,Col4,Col5,Col6,Col7,Col8,Col9,….Coln from case1111
)a
UNPIVOT(Amount FOR Col IN (Col1,Col2,Col3,Col4,Col5,Col6,Col7,Col8,Col9,..Coln) ) p
Note: Col1,Col2,Col3,Col4,Col5,Col6,Col7,Col8,Col9,….Coln :this part need to update every time you have added an column of month in the DB.
2. Create an matrix and design the report as below
If you have some other fields which will not dynamic increase, you can insert these fields the same way as [Product] (Product is added as the inside group of Region,[Col] will display the month name)
3. Every time you have added an column in the DB, remember to update the query by adding this column in the step1 too, and then the matrix will be update automatically.
There is also another method to design the column (Not using the Matrix)by using the parameter to control the dynamical increase for your reference:

How to create a Macro in excel to store the excel data to Oracle Database

Hi All
Does anyone has created a macro in excel which on being run stores the excel data to Oracle database. In my project I need to create one such macro for updating oracle database with excel data and another for inserting excel records.
I tried doing this using a macro in MS access but Client wants its to be done using Excel Macro only.
Any help would be highly appreciated.

Automatic update of HU data in Outbound delivery

Hello all,
I would like to create an ABAP program to automatically update the HU data in an outbound delivery. The purpose is to have an excel spreadsheet with the HUs per delivery and download them into the outbound delivery without the need to use manual actions.
Does anybody know of a FUNCTION, BAPI, IDOC or anything else that may assist me in this task ?

Go To transaction BAPI, look at Logistics General -> Handling Unit Management -> Handling Unit
If you want to create a delivery and know the materials and HUs just populate the delivery IDoc and process it.
If you want to pack material by uploading this spreadsheet then look at LM* transactions as that is quickest way to find what you want.

Dynamic update of safety stock in SAP R/3 systems (ECC 5.0 version)

Hi Friends,
Forgive my newness to SAP. Let me explain the problem i am facing in SAP. I want to identify the parameters to dynamically update the finished goods safety stock for each depot by SKU wise.
Current process :- Safety stock is calculated manually and updated by using Transaction code MS02 in the system.
It would be highly useful if i know the flow in SAP system and how the current process can be changed?
If more info is required i'm ready to give.

Will it update safety stock for finished goods in each depot by SKU wise? Raw material safety stock isn't my concern.
project description : Manufacturer of chemical goods , 70+ products,350 skus
Distribution : factory to depot (bulk volume)
Mother go-down to depot(Stock transfer)
No of depots :33,factory:3,mother go-down -1
Sales forecasting is done in excel for every month and updated to SAP via BAPI. After that DRP,MRP and other runs takes place.
What are all the areas i need to touch in to get the parameters to update the safety stock?

Dynamically Updating Content Server Portlets

[urlHi, I am currently having difficulty dynamically updating content server portlets. I have a portlet of the following form:[/url]

story author3 title3 01/02/03
So I have this table where each one of the line items is an article in the content server. So, for example the first line item is an article "mystory" by "author1", with title "title1" and date "04/05/01" additionally there is an article text field, but this isn't displayed unless I click on the article name.
I can set up the basics of this portlet, but when I try to add any real functionality I run into one of two problems.
First Problem: Passing Information
I cannot find a way to pass information between content portlets. For instance, if the user would like to "re-sort" this table based on "date", I would like to have the user click on the "date" column heading and then reload the page. To do so, I would have to pass the section name back to the page so that it could resort based on this data. I have not found anyway to effectively pass information to a content server portlet. I am building these pages through use of the presentation template framework (so I can have access to the content items) but that seems to change the way portlets are handled.
I got around this limitation with a regular portlet by creating an intermediary page which captures passed information and stores it to the session state. Once the information was in the session state, it is accessible to the portlet on the first page. However, this only works because remote portlets do not change their session id once loaded. Content Server portlets, on the other hand, change their session id after every reload of the browser or page change. I can send information from a content server portlet to an intermediary page, but I cannot send it back to the portlet because the session id has changed so I have no idea of knowing where to send the information. I can write it to a session state, but by the time I return to the portal page, the content server has changed its session id so it does not know where to look any longer.
I suppose it would be possible to create an application state variable and append it with some static token (if there is some static variable per portal session) but I would rather not have to deal with application variables if at all possible.
Second Problem: Dynamically Updating PCS Tags
Even if I were able to the pass information back to my content server portlet, I run into another issue. The easiest way to sort content server items is using the filter command in the pcs:foreach tag. So, if I wanted to sort by author name, I could do something like the following <pcs:foreach var="item" expr="filter(folderByName('content'), filtered.name == '"name")" or something like that (the syntax may be incorrect, I just wrote this off the top of my head). However, it appears that the way the presentation templates are compiled goes in the order of PCS tags THEN JSP. So I would have no way of dynamically changing the variable on which I sort. For example, if I clicked on "Date" above in my table, I would like to be able to dynamically change my code so that I sort on date, and not name. I cannot find a solution to this problem.
My workaround is to use the pcs tags to write out all the possible sortings to java array objects. This gives me access to the data on a JSP level and based on whatever the user will chose, I could then display that array. While this works, it is extremely ghetto and inefficient. Any help or suggestions would be fantastic.

You can use just about any javascript you want in any Content Server presentation template including ones that are used for portlets.
However, you should be careful to name javascript functions and global variables uniquely so that they do not conflict with any other javascript on the page. To do this, you can append the item id to function and variable names, for example,
