Dynamic Variable for YTD08

Hi All,
   I am having a requirement for the generating a report for the selection field 0calmonth.if execute the report,the field name should get change for the previous years and i should get the data for the same.
For Example:
Input : 200906
                                                            YTD' 200906(Dynamic)      YTD 08 (Dynamic)
ARCHWAY SALES - CINCINNATI         1234                                       1234
ARCHWAY SALES - CINCINNATI        13,725                                     13,725.
Eg.. If i give the input as 200906 and execute the report then at YTD 08 place i have to get previous year ( 200906 has to be converted as 200806) so it has to generate dynamically .

Create 2 Restricted Key Figures YTD(FiscalPeriod) and YTD(FiscalPeriod-12)
In 1st RKF
Bring the KF of YTD and restrict by Fiscalperiod Variable
In 2nd RKF
Bring the KF of YTD and restrict by Fiscalperiod Variable and offset the variable by -12.
Use these 2 in your report.

Hi all, this is my scenario:
I've created a query with input variable for characteristic Year/Month (0CALMONTH), in columns i added a key figure and in rows i added the characteristic 0CALDAY. The result looks someting like this:
Varibale entry: 09.2006
Result table:

Now, what i need is to add a column that shows the value of the previous day, so the result should be:

I guess offsets will be the solution, but i need a variable (dynamic variable) to read the current day (0CALDAY) in the report... anyone knows how to do this? a customer exit can solve it (which code)? Please advice.

Dynamic Variable for last day of month

Hi all,
I have created one report where in YTD is calculated based on stsyem date. NOw in this report the cal month is in row thus displaying data month wise. But i need one key figure which giving the last day vaue of every month that are displayed in YTD i.e this is based on cal day. Thus the report layout is as follows:
if report is run in mar 2007 then it should display:
calmonth            key figure due amount
Jan 07                this should show due value on last day of jan 07 (i.e 31st jan 07)
Feb 07               this should show due value on last day of feb 07 (i.e 28th feb 07)
Mar 07               this should show due value on last day of mar 07(i.e 31st mar 07)
customer exit variable can give me only one value at a time. How can I make it dynamic to take last day value of every month as per cal month. Could anybody explain me if worked on any such issue.

Hi,
We can assign multiple single values to the customer exit.
So in the Query take CALMONTH in rows.
And take your KF in column with Customer exit variable restriction on CALDAY.
So in the code of this Cusotmer exit varible, from the Current date find out the year of the current date and then assign those 12 required days to this variable.

How to use the dynamical or static variable for ESSBASE cube name?

Hi Experts,
When I import ESSBASE Cube into physical layer, the cube name from ESSBASE is created automatically, such as H_Sales.
I want to use the the static or dynamical variable for replacing the external name. So I try to create the static variable in RPD,such as cubeName, and use the following code
'VALUEOF(cubeName)' into the textbox of external name.
However, when I view the report in answer, it will generate the error message: Database VALUEOF(cubeName) does not exist.
Is it possible to implement this functionality?

I am loading images via xml lazyloader into my air app
I need var b to be "img" + item.id dynamically
any ideas???

If you dont know the lazyloader code then can you please explain how to create a dynamic variable for a bitmap???

lets say item was 1,2,3
Then

img[2]
img[3]
would be able to hold a different bitmap

Dynamic variant for select option High value

Hi ,
Please help me in creating dynamic variable for a select option date field high value.
II tried the following method:
1. Enter the values in the selection screen
2. Save the variant using the SAVE button
3. In the next screen for the date variable select the 'Selection variable' checkbox (L) and click on the button 'Selection variable' in the toolbar.
4. Now you will see this variable in the next screen with 3 types of buttons. Click on the middle button (i.e. D - Dynamic date calculation).
5. Click on the down arrow button and select the option 'Current Date'.
5. Save the variant.
But it is saving the date value in Field LOW of select option( From value).
I need it in TO field( High value).
Please help.

we can do it other way .. Select the same steps as you have done but after the assigning the value current date to low ..click on the selection option push button at the application bar and choose the 'less than or equal to' option to your select option value and try the same ....
I guess this would throw you same results as that of the value in the high value button

Dynamic variable Time for Select

Hi,
I try to develop some scripts but always I have the same problem , when I try to put in a Select instruction the variable Time, it doesn´t work correctly (for example):
*SELECT(%example%,"ID","TIME","[ID]='%TIME_SET%' ")
It doesn´t read correctly the variable Time_Set.
Have you got any idea to try to do selects using dynamic variable?

Hi,
Dynamic variables like %TIME_SET% do not interact very well with the compiled default logic (LGX files) when it is run after a data send. If you look at the Default.LGX file, you will notice that your *SELECT statement does not appear there because that *SELECT statement has already been compiled. That is why the logic works when it is run via the debugger (because the LGF file is getting executed at run time) and it does not work when it is run via a data send (because the LGX is being executed).
What you will need to do is:
1. Create a another logic file (for example: Calculation1.LGF) and copy the text from the Default.LGF to this new logic file.
2. Place the following text in the Default.LGF file:
*RUNLOGIC
*LOGIC=Calculation1.LGF
*ENDRUNLOGIC
3. Validate and save the Default.LGF file
Now try running the logic after a data send and see if that works.

Selection variable for dynamic selection in QE51n

Hi All,
I have a scenario were we have a repetitive Manufacturing and we create one insp. lot of origin 13 and keep creating insp. points for days, so my user wants the insp. points to be displayed only for the past 3 days based of the Date Insp. point identifier which is one of dynamic selection criteria under insp. points, I see with other transaction I can do selection variable on dates for dynamic selection fields but I cannot do that in QE51n, I can do the same in QE51 but not in QE51n, can some tell me if there is a OSS or other way to get this working.

In the screen for QE51N :Result Recording Work list", Follow this Path,,,,,,,,,
Edit--->Dynamic Selection.
The system will pop-up new small window for "Dynamic selection for insp. lot and operation" here I there is one folder is available named "Inspection point " which is having the selection criteria "Inspection point", double click on it and enter the desired values.

In AS3 you can use the bracket notation...
var trainOfUfo = "...hi earthling...";
var handleBlade = this["train"+"Of" + "Ufo"];
AS2 supports the eval() function, but it was done away with in AS3

How do I create an automator variable for a path that includes a date?

I like to use Image Capture to scan documents into a hierarchy of folders under my ~/Documents directory that are organized by year and document type. For example, I have
~/Documents/archives/2011
     /Misc
     /Utilities
and
~/Documents/archives/2012
     /Misc
     /Utilities
for archiving miscellaneous docs and utilities bills. Now, switching folders in Image Capture is annoying so I want to use the Automator support built into that app to direct the scanned images to ~/Documents/archives/<Current Year>/Misc or ~/Documents/archives/<Current Year>/Utilities. I was able to do this with separate Automator workflows, each with a hard-coded path to the destination folder. For example,
What I would like to do is use an Automator variable to dynamically determine ~/Documents/archives/<Current Year>/Misc. I see variables for Home, Documents, and Current Year.   However, when I try to create a new path variable it only lets me choose a full path to a Finder folder. Well now, you went and made me learn something today. In the Variables Library, under Utilities, is a variable named AppleScript. You can put a small script into this that evaluates to your path, for example:
((((path to documents folder) as text) & "archives:" & (year of (current date)) as text) & ":Utilities") as alias
If the script evaluates to a proper path, it can be used wherever any other path can - you can experiment by looking at the results of a Get Value of Variable action.

How to substitute a bind variable for a IN condition?

Dynamically I am setting the WHERE condition for one of my blocks using SET_BLOCK_PROPERTY Built in. The condition that I am attaching has two IN conditons..
For Eg.,
contracts_tbl.status_col IN ('NEW', 'OLD', 'EXPIRED', 'OPEN')
AND contracts_tbl.id_col IN (1, 2, 3, 4)
The number of choices in the IN condition will vary depending upon the user choice in my screen. Because of this the parsed SQL state is could not be shared and multiple of these are getting created in shared pool. To avoid this I would like to use bind variables.
There are two ways I am trying to do this..
1. Generating one bind variable for each value. i.e.,
contracts_tbl.status_cod IN (:global.var1, :global.var2,
:global.var3)
Now this could result it memory error if no. of choices exceeds the avilable memory. Also its a tedious task to purge the variables after querying the block. Also because of multiple IN conditions, the chances of different set of selections are possible and then again sharing will be minimal.
2. The second method is to set the one bind variable for each IN condition. i.e.,
:GLOBAL.Var1 := '( 'NEW', 'OLD', 'EXPIRED', 'OPEN' )';
:GLOBAL.Var2 := '(1, 2, 3)';
contracts_tbl.status_col IN :GLOBAL.Var1
AND contracts_tbl.id_col IN :GLOBAL.Var2
In this case, forms is not querying as the IN condition takes the global variable value as one string and the query returns no rows though there are plenty available for each status. Also any NUMBER type condtions erroring out as the , and ( are invalid numerals.
Q: Is there anyway you can make this work? or Is there any other better method to substitute bind variables in place to avoid creating new set of statements for each query in the shared pool?

Variables for calendar year/month

Hi All,
My requirement is to create a headcount report which has to display the number of employees for different time period. ´
1) When user chooses calender day then the report should display total number of employees on that time period(01.01.2005)-(10.01.2009).
2) If user chooses calyear /month then he should see the report for each calyear/month (like 01.2005 , 02.2005,02,2005....)in the columns.
I tried dropping calyear/month in column and i got the result for my second scenario (like 01.2005 , 02.2005,02,2005....)
But when the user chooses the calday it still shows the report by calmonth (bcoz of calyear/month in the column).
I also tried text variable for calyear/moth(replacement path method) but i have the restriction in the interval (from date or to date - i have to choose one by default) so it shows only either date in the columns .
The two variables. 1) Calender Day (Interval,Optional)) 2) Calender Year /Month (Interval,Optional)
I got four restricted key figure to restrict number of employees by business.
Eg :
When Cal Day is choosed then the report will be :(01.01.2005 -10.01.2009)
               (01.01.2005 - 10.01.2009)
Country Sales Finance
India        20      30
Denmark 30      50
When Calyear / Month is choosed then the report will be : (01.2005 - 02-2005) :
                    01.2005                    02.2005
Country     Sales Finance      Sales Finance
India           24     70                70         45
Denmark    36      60               56        30

Hello,
This cannot be achived dynamically.
I think the two ways you can work out is creating two different reports one to include daywise and the other to include montwise structure.
Otherwise you can keep calday in free char and ask user to swap calmonth with calday as per requirement.
Else you have to create a workbook report and make use of VB macros to calculate report dynamically which is a very complex approach.

Binding dynamic variable in XQuery doesn't work: ORA-00932

I have a table with several columns. One of those columns is a XMLType.
My goal is to have a query which selects rows from the table of which the XML column matches certain criteria.
I'm trying following example (JDBC) : http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b28369/xdb_xquery.htm#insertedID11
First, I created my own query, which looks like:
select * from MyTable t, XMLTABLE( xmlnamespaces (DEFAULT 'http://test), 'for $i in /RootElement where $i/SubElement[contains(Element, "someValue")] return "true"' passing t.xmlColumn)This works as expected. Next, as done in the example, I'm trying to replace the "someValue" with a dynamic variable.
Query then looks like:
select * from MyTable t, XMLTABLE( xmlnamespaces (DEFAULT 'http://test), 'for $i in /RootElement where $i/SubElement[contains(Element, $val)] return "true"' passing t.xmlColumn, :1 as "val")This does not seem to work, neither in SQLDeveloper nor in java.
I always get the :
java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes: expected - got CHAR(SQLDeveloper just gives ORA-00932)
When I put $val between quotes (so "$val") then I get no error, but then I get no results either.
I think it will not replace $val in that case but just use it as a literal, so thats not what I want
I also tried to remove "contains" xpath and use the exact same example as on the oracle page
select * from MyTable t, XMLTABLE( xmlnamespaces (DEFAULT 'http://test), 'for $i in /RootElement where $i/SubElement/Key = $val return "true"' passing t.xmlColumn, :1 as "val")But this doens't help either.
I'm clueless about this, so any help would be appreciated

Ok, I tested it using the latest enterprise edition (11g) and there it works as expected.
However, on 10.2.0.1.0 and 10.2.0.3.0 it gives this error.
Is this a bug which has been fixed or should I do something special on 10g ?
I installed all of these as normal without any special settings, created the tables and ran the query...
