Dynamically Build Tables

I've looked through the forums and found a lot of previous posts regarding dynamic spreadsheets, but I don't think any of them worked quite like this (although I could be wrong).
I have a master table that lists a bunch of items and each item has several columns with information describing that item. For example: Row 1-Ball, Small, Blue, Smooth. Row 2-Cube, Medium, Red, Textured. And so on... This table is not complete and as time goes on I'll have more items to add to it.
Now here's the tricky part: I have other tables that I would like to have their contents build as I add items to the master table. So, when I add Row 3 for a Cylinder the other tables will automatically add the new item to themselves, perform the functions I have laid out, and sort accordingly.
Thank you for your help with this.

Perhaps I'm not properly understanding the solution, but I think mine differs from these examples. Both of these examples are looking for subsets of items from their master tables (only plants with these characteristics or only students from this group). I am looking to have additional tables that still list every single item (ball, cylinder, square), but not all of the fields.
At its most basic, using labels in the header cells of Table 1 for:
"Item" (Column B), "Size" (C), "Colour" (D), "Surface" (E),
the formulas for Table 2, showing only:
"Item" in column B and "Colour) in column C
B: =Table 1::B
C: =Table 1::D
In this form, Table 2 will shot the item name and colour in rows where such information has been entered in Table 1 and zeroes in rows where the data has not yet been entered.
This variation will suppress the zeroes, leaving blank cells in rows where there's no data in Table 1.
B: =IF(LEN(Table 1::B)>0,Table 1::B,"")
Items on Table 2 will be listed in the same order as on Table 1.

    Use this code to get all components of internal table.
    Then build fieldcatlog.
    DATA: tab_return type abap_compdescr_tab,
              components like line of tab_return.
    perform get_int_table_fields using    <fs_it> changing  tab_return.
    loop at tab_return into components.
      wa_fldcat-fieldname  = components-name.               "Field Name
      wa_fldcat-scrtext_m  = components-name.              "Column Heading
      wa_fldcat-inttype    = components-type_kind.     "Data Type
      wa_fldcat-intlen      = components-length.          "Data Lenght
      wa_fldcat-decimals = components-decimals.     "Data Decimal Places
    append wa_fldcat to it_fldcat.
    endloop.
    form get_int_table_fields  using    t_data type any table
                                changing t_return type abap_compdescr_tab.
       data:
       oref_table type ref to cl_abap_tabledescr,
       oref_struc type ref to cl_abap_structdescr,
       oref_error type ref to cx_root,
       text type string.
    *Get the description of data object type
       try.
           oref_table ?=
           cl_abap_tabledescr=>describe_by_data( t_data ).
         catch cx_root into oref_error.
           text = oref_error->get_text( ).
           write: / text.
           exit.
       endtry.
    *Get the line type
       try.
           oref_struc ?= oref_table->get_table_line_type( ).
         catch cx_root into oref_error.
           text = oref_error->get_text( ).
           write: / text.
           exit.
       endtry.
       append lines of oref_struc->components to t_return.
    endform.

    Hi,
    1.build your fieldcatalog by yourself.
    e.g. 4 columns , you will append 4 records in fieldcatalog internal table.
    2.use this fieldcatalog internal table to create dynamic internal table by method: cl_alv_table_create=>create_dynamic_table.
    3.edit content of  dynamic internal table.
    4.use alv to display it.
    That's all.

  • Dynamic internal table column issue

    Hi
    i have ALV report with dynamic internal table.after i build the internal table and fieldcatalog i have problem  i.e. when grid is displayed then one of the column value is coming in the next column.i populated col_pos in field catalog also and in the debug mode data is populated correctly for respective columns in fieldcatalog and dynamic internal table. But when it is displayed i have this problem.
    any inputs on this?

    Hi Moorthy,
    Did you perform an ALV consistency check?

  • Passing Dynamic Internal Tables to Memory

    I have a bit of a conundrum right now that I can't seem to correct. I am working on adding an ALV report to an existing report program. I was able to write a simple helper program that builds a custom object that I defined that translates my raw data into two seperate dynamic tables, and then builds an ALV grid and outputs it. The reason I wrote this in a simple helper program was so that I could use SUBMIT ... EXPORTING LIST TO MEMORY from my primary report program and capture the input so I can later write it out under our company's standard ABAP list format as if I were using WRITE statements.
    The output of the report itself is working beautifully. We have included functionality to automatically take the output, produce an HTML file from it, and then FTP it directly to a webserver so our clients can get easy access to it. What I want to be able to do though is give the clients two tab-delimited files that contain the raw data that was used to build the report. We have an interface in place to do that, but I somehow need to be able to pass these two dynamic internal tables which I have field-symbols to reference back to my calling program.
    Here is what I am trying to do:
    CALL METHOD OBJ_ALV_MR_EST_REASONS->PRODUCE_ESTIMATION_REPORT
        IMPORTING
          RPT_DATA_BY_REASON   = ref_it_estreason
          RPT_DATA_BY_DISTRICT = ref_it_district.
    *   Assign the field symbols
      ASSIGN ref_it_estreason->* TO <it_estreason>.
      ASSIGN ref_it_district->* TO <it_district>.
    * Export the two internal tables to memory so they can be
    * retrieved by the calling program
      EXPORT reason = <it_estreason>[]
             district = <it_district>[]
      TO MEMORY ID 'ZCR_ESTIMATION_REASON_RPT'.
    As you can see, my method returns two references to dynamic internal tables. I have used the memory debugger to see that these tables are being correctly written to the ABAP memory.
    However, back in my parent program when I try to do the following,
    CREATE DATA ref_it_estreason TYPE REF TO DATA.
          CREATE DATA ref_it_district TYPE REF TO DATA.
          ASSIGN ref_it_estreason->* TO <it_estreason>.
          ASSIGN ref_it_district->* TO <it_district>.
          IMPORT reason = <it_estreason>
                 district = <it_district>
          FROM MEMORY ID 'ZCR_ESTIMATION_REASON_RPT'.
    I get the REFS_NOT_SUPPORTED_YET exception which says that "For the statement Export/Import ..." object references, interface references, and data references are currently not supported".
    I have tried multiple other ways of defining my field-symbols or my reference pointers but they all result in exceptions of some sort. Is there any way for me to get this data passed back? It seems like there must be a way to get the data from memory since I know it's being correctly stored there.
    Thanks in advance.

    Shortly after posting this, I had an idea which I was able to implement to actually get this to work.
    I decided that I would simply pass the FIELDCAT tables for each of my dynamic tables into the same memory ID as the tables themselves.
      EXPORT reason_fcat = it_estreason_fcat
             district_fcat = it_district_fcat
             reason = <it_estreason>[]
             district = <it_district>[]
      TO MEMORY ID 'ZCR_ESTIMATION_REASON_RPT'.
    Then, back in my calling program I execute the following code. This retrieves the FIELDCAT tables, builds two empty dynamic table type reference variables and then lets me create field-symbols to reference those components.
    *     Retrieve the fieldcat internal tables first
          IMPORT reason_fcat = it_estreason_fcat
                 district_fcat = it_district_fcat
          FROM MEMORY ID 'ZCR_ESTIMATION_REASON_RPT'.
    *     Generate an internal table type assigned to each
    *     reference variable based on the fieldcat listings we
    *     retrieve
          CALL METHOD cl_alv_table_create=>create_dynamic_table
            EXPORTING
              it_fieldcatalog = it_estreason_fcat
            IMPORTING
              ep_table        = ref_it_estreason.
          CALL METHOD cl_alv_table_create=>create_dynamic_table
            EXPORTING
              it_fieldcatalog = it_district_fcat
            IMPORTING
              ep_table        = ref_it_district.
    *     Assign the field symbols
          ASSIGN ref_it_estreason->* TO <it_estreason>.
          ASSIGN ref_it_district->* TO <it_district>.
          CREATE DATA ref_wa_estreason LIKE LINE OF <it_estreason>.
          CREATE DATA ref_wa_district LIKE LINE OF <it_district>.
          ASSIGN ref_wa_estreason->* TO <wa_estreason>.
          ASSIGN ref_wa_district->* TO <wa_district>.
    *     Finally, we can retrieve the data from memory and assign
    *     to the internal tables referenced by our field-symbols
          IMPORT reason = <it_estreason>[]
                 district = <it_district>[]
          FROM MEMORY ID 'ZCR_ESTIMATION_REASON_RPT'.
    This worked beautifully and saved me from having to do a major redesign. I don't know how helpful it would be for ABAP Objects to be passed to memory (I believe some type of serialization would need to be in order there), but for dynamically typed internal tables it worked like a dream with little overhead.

  • Dynamic Alv for Dynamic Internal Table

    Hi All,
    I am new for abap dynpro.
    How can i create a dynamic alv table in abap dynpro withoud ddic structure??
    My requirement is as follows:
    I have a table having some field e.g MATNR WERKS NETWR.
    I want to pivot data werks and to display in webdynpro alv.

    You can use the RTTI to build up a dynamic structure in memory:
    Something like this - where both the data and its structure and meta data all come from an external source (which happens to be MDM in this case):

  • Populating dynamic internal table with data

    Hi,
    I have an internal table with the data like the below
          profit  lineId  amount
          center
           s21     70     1000
           s21     80     1200
           s22     70      800
    In the above internal table the number of distinct lineIDs will be vary based on selection-screen creiteria.
    So for this I build a fieldcatalog and dynamic internal table like the following
    The data available in the above internal table should be placed into the dynamic internal table like the following.
         profit
         center  LineID70 LineID80 .....etc
          S21      1000     1200
          S22       800
    Can any one suggest how to proceed?
    Thanks in advance
    Nanda.

    Hi
    This is my first ever reply so I hope this works or gives you some ideas.
    DATA: l_idcount TYPE i,
                l_idvalue LIKE itab2-amount.
    *loop through the source internal table
    LOOP AT itab1.
    * increment count of id numbers in current profit center
      l_idcount = l_idcount + 1.
    * run through the amount fields in target internal table
      DO ID_number TIMES VARYING l_idvalue
          FROM itab2-LineID70 NEXT itab2-LineID80.
        IF sy-index EQ l_idcount.
    *   change field value if id count same as field position
          l_idvalue = itab1-amount.
        ENDIF.
      ENDDO.
      AT END OF profit_center.
        itab2-profit_center = itab1-profit_center.
        APPEND itab2.
        CLEAR l_idcount.
      ENDAT.
    ENDLOOP.
    ID_number is the number of ids as a result of selection-screen criteria.

  • Create dynamic internal table with deep structure;cell coloring dynamic ALV

    Hi,
    My requirement is to do cell colouring for a dynamic ALV.
    So I am creating a dynamic internal table using the following method.
      CALL METHOD cl_alv_table_create=>create_dynamic_table
        EXPORTING
          it_fieldcatalog = i_fieldcatalog[]
        IMPORTING
          ep_table        = i_output.
    But how do I define field COLORS which should be again an internal table ?
    Is there any other way for cell colouring?
    Putting my problem in another way:
    How do I create a dynamic internal table with one field as another internal table.
    Quick replies are highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Nisha Vengal.

    halo Nisha
    Before building the display table . you can add the field in the feild catalog right . This display table gets generated from the field catalog right
    1 Create a global structute say ZEXTEND_FIELDCAT
    2 Have fields like STYLE type lvc_t_styl
                             COLOR type LVC_T_SCOL.
    3 Now you have to extend ur fieldcatalog
      l_fieldcat-fieldname = COLOR'.
      l_fieldcat-ref_field = 'COLOR'.
      l_fieldcat-ref_table = 'ZEXTEND_FIELDCAT'.
      APPEND l_fieldcat TO lt_field_catalog.
      CLEAR l_fieldcat.

  • Dynamically build parameter list

    I'm after an easy way to dynamically build a list of ALL the defined parameters within the additional PL/SQL code section on a portal report. I then want to use p_arg_names / p_arg_values to retrieve and store the passed values in a table.
    To clarify, the report may have 10 parameters of which say only 5 are passed on a particular run. I need to then populate 10 columns which includes nulls for the parameters not passed. This way parameter values will always be written to the same column.
    I aiming to use this as generic code to apply to several other reports which will write to the same table.
    Ron

    In case anyone else needs this I'll post the solution myself.
    1. p_arg_names and p_arg_values (shows only the populated parameters / values)
    2. l_arg_names and l_arg_values (shows all the parameters / values)
    So in my case I needed to reference l_arg_names and l_arg_values.

  • Setting a Filter on a dynamically created Table

    Hi All,
    I am currently working on a Database to automatize some process. Quick explanation:
    The User can import a CSV (Text) File via a DialogBox, which gets imported into a Table. After this, the content has to be filtered, setting conditions on 4 different rows. The new Table gets exported into a new CSV (It has to be CSV, since it later gets imported
    into SAP)
    I am having some trouble with filters though:
    How can I set a Filter on a dynamically created Table (using VBA)?
    Best case would be to save the filter into my Import spec, but Access doesn't seem to have this option (?)
    Can somebody help?
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Alex

    Thanks for the fast reply! Sorry, I am not really proficient at Access. How do I do a query on a dynamically created Table? Do I have to save the Table into a Variable. Or what's the way to import it?
    Hi Alex,
    I never use the Import functionality, nor DoCmd.TransferText.
    To import data from a csv-file I made my own Import functionality. In fact it is just reading an external file, line by line, and each line field by field using the field separator. In my opinion that is far more versatile than the standard functionality.
    But you can use the standard functionality of Access to import a csv-file into a table.
    Having the data in a table, you can generate the appropriate query for the output in a VBA procedure:
            sql_string = "SELECT Field1, Field2, ... FROM MyTable WHERE Field1 = ... AND Field2 = ... ORDER BY Field3"
    and make a recordset of it:
            Set cur_set = CurrentDb(sql_string)
    The output csv-file is then filled by opening a file for Write, loop through all the records, concatenate for each record all the wanted fields using the field separator, and write the result line to the csv-file.
    Most important is to understand this process. After that it should be possible to build it. And if you have further questions, just ask.
    Imb.

  • Dynamic Internal table values read and assign it back

    Hi All,
            I want to get the internal table field name dynamically and fetch its value and do some calculation and asign the new value to the same field name.

    Now i've the internal table field name as <WA_PIPE>-ZW1 in v_fld and v_fld1 is having the value of the same field.
    How to assign it to the internal table field.
    Thanks.

  • Reference comp in dynamic internal table using CL_ALV_TABLE_CREATE

    Hi,
    I am using CL_ALV_TABLE_CREATE to create a dynamic internal table. Everything works fine, but there is one problem with it. How can i create a component in the internal table that is actually a REF TO a certain data type. i.e. later i would like to store a reference to some dataobj in this component of the internal table.
    I cannot use cl_abap_*descr classes to create internal table because of some other reasons, otherwise it would have been easy to do it.
    Any kind of help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks and best regards,
    Ghufran

    Hi Ghufran,
