Dynamically Created ActionHandler List

I'm trying to create a program that allows the user to specify the number of JButtons to be created, where each one has its own event listener, but the same event handler.
Take the following code:
//Brief code explanation:
//Upon instantiation of the MultiButton class, a user-specified number of JButtons are created
//If the user clicks on the second button, they will be notified
//All other buttons do nothing
class MultiButton(){
private MultiButton(int numButtons){//Constructor
for(int i=0; i<numButtons; i++){
buttonVector.add(new JButton());
buttonVector.get(i).addActionListener(new buttonActionPerformed);
//... code to attach JButton to GUI ... (assume this works)
private Vector<JButton> buttonVector = new Vector<JButton>();
class buttonActionPerformed(){
public void Actionperformed(ActionEvent e){
if(callingButtonID == buttonVector.get(2).JButtonID) //This would be where the problem is
System.out.println("The second JButton was called");
}Basically, I need a way to know which JButton was called so that I can see which button in the buttonVector was activated. I'm not sure if this is possible, but I'm open to any advice or alternate methods.
Good luck!

have a look at this:
import java.awt.GridLayout;
import java.awt.event.ActionEvent;
import java.awt.event.ActionListener;
import java.util.ArrayList;
import java.util.List;
import javax.swing.BorderFactory;
import javax.swing.JButton;
import javax.swing.JFrame;
import javax.swing.JPanel;
import javax.swing.SwingUtilities;
public class MultiButton extends JPanel
private List<JButton> buttonList = new ArrayList<JButton>();
public MultiButton(int numButtons)
super(new GridLayout(0, 1, 5, 5));
setBorder(BorderFactory.createEmptyBorder(5, 5, 5, 5));
for (int i = 0; i < numButtons; i++)
JButton btn = new JButton("Button Number " + i);
btn.addActionListener(new buttonActionPerformed());
add(btn);
buttonList.add(btn);
private class buttonActionPerformed implements ActionListener
public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e)
JButton selectedBtn = (JButton)e.getSource();
System.out.println("Button ActionCommand = " + selectedBtn.getActionCommand());
// to find it in the array, you could use its text or you could loop through the arrya
for (int i = 0; i < buttonList.size(); i++)
if (buttonList.get(i).equals(selectedBtn))
System.out.println("Selected Button index in array is: " + i);
break;
private static void createAndShowGUI()
JFrame frame = new JFrame("Swing Application");
frame.getContentPane().add(new MultiButton(7));
frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
frame.pack();
frame.setVisible(true);
public static void main(String[] args)
SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable()

• Dynamic create Drop List

Hi, i'm building a form to gather info on the number of sessions there are in a day. So on this form, there is a drop list which allows the user to select from 1 to 10 sessions.
Now, all the sessions are different times, so i have to create different number of drop based on the number select.
Therefore if the user select 5, 5 new drop list appears and if 8, 8 new drop list appears. These new drop list would show times value for the user to select.
Eg of drop list would have

1
i've so far manage to dynamically the select drop boxes but they do not show the option times values as i wish to.
How can i get the drop list to show the options?
can anyone help?
function createSessionTimes(){
var aElement=document.createElement("")
document.body.insertBefore(aElement);
var aElement2=document.createElement("<options value='1'>1")
aElement.insertBefore(aElement2);
}

Yes, i know this is javascript. but i was hoping there is a jsp way to dynamically create new number of drop lists based on the value of the drop list above.
so far i only seen javascript but i wish to do in jsp alone. Can anyone provide a jsp solution?

• Need help populating dynamically-created fields

I have a form which uses Javascript to create table rows on
the fly so as to add items to a list dynamically. The table
consists of two fields -- an ID and let's call the other one
Attribute A. The user clicks "Add another one" and another row of
data entry fields pops up. My action page works fine to get the
value of these rows using the evaluate() function (I always
wondered what that did), but I want it to go back to the calling
page, have the calling page create the correct number of rows, and
populate them with the changed or inserted data that was just saved
-- the same way that an ordinary action page might save data and
then return you to the calling page.
The first row of this table is created through HTML and only
additional rows are created dynamically.
I have it all working up to and including the creation of the
correct number of fields as an "onload=(loadTheData)" in the

tag, but how the heck and where do I populate them
with the data returned from the query?
Below is the Javascript and how it's called. I changed some
variable names to protect the innocent, but that's basically how it
works. So the Javascript is creating the fields -- one for each
record returned by the query -- but how can I assign the record
values in turn? Do I need WDDX? If so, how would that be
written?

If you are going to use JavaScript to dynamically create the
list, then
look into the <cfwddx...> tag that is very useful for
translating
ColdFusion data structures into JavaScript data structures.
You can
then use the JavaScript data to populate your table.
But I would think it would be simplier to use the ColdFusion
data to
build the default table with existing data. Instead of just
creating
one row with ColdFusion create rows for the existing data
then just use
the JavaScript to add more rows on the client, just as you
are doing now.
P.S. evaluate() is usually an awkward choice to access
dynamical form
variables. I presume you are using something like
<cfset something = evaluate("form.aField_#aVar#")>
This can be easier with the use of array notation.
<cfset something = form['aField_' & aVar]>
OR
<cfset something = form['aField_#aVar#']>
To each his own, but knowing array notation is a very
powerful technique.

• Creating Selection List Dynamically or Through Code

Has anyone created Selection Lists for Excel or Analyzer Dynamically Through Code? We have lists that could change quite often and would like to automate the process.

Different methods for different situations. If you are just concerned about capturing newly added descendants/children of a dimension, it may be best to always begin the query at the appropriate parent level, then zooming/drilling to list all children/descendants at the time the query is run. Assigning attributes is another way to achieve this, assuming all the members which you wish to capture are similar in nature (eg. flavor, size, product category, etc.). After creating the attribute dimensions and assigning them to base dimensions, simply adding the attribute to the query dynamically filter the values returned. You can also drill/zoom on the attribute dimension in the query to view detail lists of the individual members which match.

• Creating a list with different row sizes...

I'm new to AS 3.0 and CS4 and I've been getting up to speed
on all of it. I've used the List component before with my own
CellRenderer. I now need to create a list with different row
heights. The List component is great and does everything that I
want but it requires all rows to be the same height.
I'm unsure of where to go. Creating my own class seems like a
lot of work. The TileList and Grid components don't allow different
sized (and dynamically changing) row heights either. Is there some
base class (SelectableList? BaseScrollPane?) that I should extend
or do I need to just bite the bullet and write it all from scratch?
I need each row to have it's own height and interaction with
a row could change the height of the row. The main use is a list of
data. If the user clicks in an item, it turns the display into
something they can edit (which will need more height).
Thanks for any thoughts on a direction I should think about.
By the way, I really like that AS 3.0 is much more consistent of a
programming language than previous MX versions that I've used.
We're doing a lot of AS/Flash/AIR work with it and it's turning
into a wonderful environment...

Any ideas about this??

• Dynamically creating a Record Group based on Previously entered Record Grou

Forms [32 Bit] Version 10.1.2.3.0 (Production)
Hi,
I know how to dynamically create a record group based on a query and putting the code in When new form instance.
My query is. I have a form which has multiple Record Groups and the user wants to dynamically create subsequent groups based on previous groups.
For example
I have a record group with selects a Location,
when the user selects the Location from a list of values
the 2nd record group called 'Cost Centres' will have to filter out only those with the locations selected above.
How can I populate the 2nd record group at run-time when I do not know what site the user will select?
If I simply populate in when new form instance as in location and just select everything, the list of values populates.
CC field is a LIST ITEM and the list style is a POP LIST, it is not required.
I have put the code in the Location field in the when-list-changed trigger.
I am getting this error:
frm-41337: cannot populate the list from the record group
here is the code:
DECLARE
v_recsql Varchar2(1000); -- The SQL for creating the Record Group.
v_recgrp RecordGroup; -- Record Group
v_status Number; -- Return Value of Populate_Group function.
c_where VARCHAR2(1000);
BEGIN
IF :location = '1' THEN
c_where := ' substr(cost_centre,1,2) in (''01'',''02'')';
ELSIF :location = '2' THEN
c_where := ' substr(cost_centre,1,2) in (''02'',''03'')';
ELSIF :location = '3' THEN
c_where := ' substr(cost_centre,1,2) in (''01'',''11'',''07'')';
ELSE
c_where := ' 1=1'; --EVERYTHING
END IF;
v_recsql := 'SELECT cost_centre, description FROM cost_centres where '||c_where;
-- Create the Record Group
v_recgrp := CREATE_GROUP_FROM_QUERY('v_recgrp', v_recsql);
IF NOT ID_NULL(v_recgrp)
THEN -- No Error, record group has been successfully created.
-- Populate Record Group
v_status := POPULATE_GROUP('v_recgrp');
IF v_status = 0
THEN -- No Error. Record Group has been Populated.
POPULATE_LIST('block.CC', 'v_recgrp');
END IF; -- IF v_status = 0
-- Delete the Record Group as it is no longer needed.
DELETE_GROUP('v_recgrp');
END IF; -- IF NOT ID_NULL(v_recgrp)
END;thanks for your assistance.

Hi,
Once record status gets change for block you can not populate/repopulate the list item. Keep those list items as non-database item with different names and create different items as database orignal items. Than assign the values in WHEN-LIST-CHANGE trigger to the actual database items.

• How to select column dynamically with sharepoint list as data source in ssrs report

Hi all,
I am creating reports from SharePoint list but i have requirements to select the column name dynamically with SharePoint list as data source. I didn't find any way of doing this..
Can anyone help me to resolve this issue..
There is no way of specifying column name dynamically here in data set query
<RSSharePointList xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
<ListName>test list</ListName>
<ViewFields>
<FieldRef Name="ID" />
<FieldRef Name="ContentType" />
<FieldRef Name="Title" />
<FieldRef Name="Modified" />
<FieldRef Name="Created" />
<FieldRef Name="Author" />
<FieldRef Name="Editor" />
<FieldRef Name="_UIVersionString" />
<FieldRef Name="Attachments" />
<FieldRef Name="Edit" />
<FieldRef Name="LinkTitleNoMenu" />
<FieldRef Name="LinkTitle" />
<FieldRef Name="DocIcon" />
<FieldRef Name="ItemChildCount" />
<FieldRef Name="FolderChildCount" />
<FieldRef Name="test_x0020_date" />
<FieldRef Name="title2" />
</ViewFields>
</RSSharePointList>

Hi MNRSPDev,
Sorry for the delay.
According to the current description, I understand that you want to specify column name in dataset query designer dynamically when using SharePoint list data source.
Based on my research, this is not supported by default. As a workaround, you can use XML data source. The XML content can be embedded directly within the query. This lets you use the expression capabilities within the processing engine to build queries and
data dynamically within the report. And it can be used for retrieving XML data directly from an external data source, passing it using parameters, and embedding it within the query.

• Is it possible to dynamically create form fields in PDF form?

Hi all,
I would like to dynamically create object like textbox, dropdown list from xml data. For example:
When I receive following xml data:
<field name="Check Box" type="selectbox"/>
<field name="Text Field" type="textbox"/>
I want to generate 2 form fields check box and text field with title "Check Box" and "Text Field" accordingly.
Is it possible to do it in javascript for PDF form?
Thank you and regards,
Anh

You cannot dynamically create objects on the fly like that but you can create interpret the XML and create an XDP file (which is the language of the template file) then bring that into Designer and create a PDF from that.

• Dynamically creating variable names in javascript

Hi.
I have to create variable names dynamically in JavaScript.
My JSP file accesses information from Database and forms a String corresponding to the information received.
This String is passed to a JAvaScript function that should CREATE a variable with that NAME.
For Ex:
My database access resulted in a single row...
id name sal
34 John Smith 38000
the resulting VARIABLE NAME should be Menu34. 34 comes from the database result.
Is there any function to dynamically create a variable name in JavaScript?
Thanks in advance.

The JSP is printing the contents of an HTML page, and Javascript code can be part of that output...
So you would just write out the stuff, something like this....

In the browser, it'll just look like another long list of Javascript variables.

• Problem with dynamically created columnchart (FB 4 and 4.5)

I have an application (written in FB4 but I've imported to FB4.5 with no difference in behaviour) which dynamically creates cartesian charts. The total column values should be the same but the user can group them according to different fields. This works fine except for one of the possible grouping options. When that is used, I can see that all the data is present in the dataprovider, but one of the groups is just not shown - or rather when you hover over the column it shows "0" as the value for that group.
This is the code I run when the HTTP query comes back:
private function gotGroupHistory():void{
if (hsGroupHistory.lastResult.list.item is mx.utils.ObjectProxy) {
histModelSource = new ArrayCollection;
histModelSource.addItem(hsGroupHistory.lastResult.list.item);
} else {
histModelSource = hsGroupHistory.lastResult.list.item;
var grouparray:Array=new Array();
var cset:ColumnSet = new ColumnSet;
cset.type="stacked";
var csplan:LineSeries=new LineSeries();
csplan.displayName="Target";
csplan.yField="plan";
for each(var thisitem:String in chartgroups) {
var cs:ColumnSeries=new ColumnSeries();
cs.yField=thisitem;
cs.displayName=thisitem;
cset.series.push(cs);
columnchart1.series=[cset];
columnchart1.series.push(csplan);
columnchart1.invalidateSeriesStyles();
columnchart1.series=columnchart1.series;
legend1.dataProvider=columnchart1;
As I said everything appears to be correct - the data provider has the data for all the groups but just 1 of them is not displayed. The legend also shows the name of the missing group. I really cannot figure out what is going on. Can anyone suggest my next line of investigation please?
Thanks

4. quick help needed ...

Hi Omar,
I have solution for you
To populating or refreshing the lists you can use
two procedures:
One of them - generic, which can be used for all types of list
Another is specific which contain a SQL statement to retrieve the data for
particular list.
1. Specific procedure:
PROCEDURE GET_DEPARTMENT_LIST
IS
sql_stat VARCHAR2(32767);
ret_code NUMBER;
BEGIN
-- SQL Statement for Drop-down List
-- (must have two columns for label and value - both VARCHAR2)
sql_stat := ' SELECT DEPARTMENT_NAME,TO_CHAR(DEPT_ID)'
||' FROM SCHEMA.DEPARTMENT';
POPULATE_MY_LIST('BLOCK.DEPARTMENT_LIST',sql_stat,ret_code);
END;
2. Generic procedure:
PROCEDURE POPULATE_MY_LIST
(item_name VARCHAR2,
sql_stat VARCHAR2,
out_code OUT NUMBER)
IS
rg_id RECORDGROUP;
rg_name VARCHAR2(100);
ret_code NUMBER;
item_id ITEM;
BEGIN
item_id := FIND_ITEM(item_name);
IF ID_NULL(item_id) THEN
out_code := -1;
RETURN;
END IF;
--Creating Record Group with Unique Name
rg_name := 'RG_'||SUBSTR(item_name,INSTR(item_name,'.',1)+1,LENGTH(item_name));
--Checking Record Group Name for existance
rg_id := FIND_GROUP(rg_name);
--If Group does exist - delete it
IF NOT ID_NULL(rg_id) THEN
DELETE_GROUP(rg_id);
END IF;
--Creating Record Group
rg_id := CREATE_GROUP_FROM_QUERY(rg_name,sql_stat);
ret_code := POPULATE_GROUP(rg_id);
IF (ret_code <> 0) THEN
out_code := ret_code;
RETURN;
END IF;
POPULATE_LIST(item_name,rg_id);
IF NOT FORM_SUCCESS THEN
out_code := -2;
RETURN;
ELSE
out_code := 0;
END IF;
DELETE_GROUP(rg_id);
END;
Hope it help.

• Dynamic retrieval in list boxes using JSP

Dear All,
I have a list box in a form which is created by extracting data from oracle database. There are approximately 26000 records which are added dynamically in the list box. There are five rows in the form and each row has to have a list box with all records. Now if i retrieve all records for all list boxes, the page takes high time to load. I also tried using String array to read once and write them using loops in list box. But even then the loading time is quiet high. Is there some better way so that the page loads fast enough. I am using Oracle Database and the table is indexed.
Thanks & Regards,
Gagan Arora

Well, it's big enough to make any page slow... but you can try to load all the list boxes in the client side with javascript.
i make that usually, create a javascript strings array and on the "onLoad" event fill all the list boxes with the values in that array.
but anyway is too much data.

• Dynamically create document type Item Attribute using WF_ENGINE.AddItem API

Hi
Is WF_ENGINE.AddItem API , supported to create document type Item attributes dynamically ? If yes how do we set the display name of the attribute. If no then is there is any other method to dynamically create document tyoe item attribute?
Thanks

Hi,
If the document is stored on a file system, then I would replace the message body with a PL/SQL document which includes links to the files as straightforward URLs. There would be no need to include them in the Workflow in any way. For example, I recently worked with a client where all the (file) attachments made within eBusiness Suite were then migrated into Oracle Universal Content Management and the attachment was replaced with a URL to the new document. Any notifications now just reference the URL link to the document within the document management system in an HTML notification. While the processing is going on, the user is given the list of files that exist as attachments, but no links because the document is being processed by the management system.
If the attachments are going to be stored in Workflow as documents, you won't be able to change the display name though - display name is set for the attribute on the message, not for each specific notification. Changing the value of the display name for the message would impact all notifications that use that message, which isn't what you want.
What you need is to dynamically build the notification (either using PL/SQL or OA Framework) and include a list of attachments in the notification. This may be a direct link to the document (either in a document management system or on a file system somewhere) that you can render as a URL, or a link to code that can retrieve the document from the database and serve that to the user. This is not a straightforward piece of work.
If this is purely internal, you might be better off having a custom form / screen which displays the different documents, and link to that from the notification. Or you could link to a standard form for the transaction and have the users pick up the attachments directly from the transaction.

What version of Flex are you using? The Help for Flex 3 has
this to say:
http://www.adobe.com/livedocs/flex/3/html/help.html?content=events_05.html
Defining event listeners inline
The simplest method of defining event handlers in Flex
applications is to
point to a handler function in the component's MXML tag. To
do this, you add
any of the component's events as a tag attribute followed by
an ActionScript
statement or function call.
You add an event handler inline using the following syntax:
<mx:tag_name event_name="handler_function"/>
For example, to listen for a Button control's click event,
you add a
statement in the <mx:Button> tag's click attribute. If
you add a function,
you define that function in an ActionScript block. The
following example
defines the submitForm() function as the handler for the
Button control's
click event:
<mx:Script>
function submitForm():void {
// Do something.
</mx:Script>
<mx:Button label="Submit" click="submitForm();"/>
Event handlers can include any valid ActionScript code,
including code that
calls global functions or sets a component property to the
return value. The
following example calls the trace() global function:
<mx:Button label="Get Ver" click="trace('The button was
clicked');"/>
There is one special parameter that you can pass in an inline
event handler
definition: the event parameter. If you add the event keyword
as a
parameter, Flex passes the Event object and inside the
handler function, you
can then access all the properties of the Event object.
The following example passes the Event object to the
submitForm() handler
function and specifies it as type MouseEvent:

<mx:Application xmlns:mx="
http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml">
<mx:Script>
import mx.controls.Alert;
private function myEventHandler(event:MouseEvent):void {
// Do something with the MouseEvent object.
Alert.show("An event of type '" + event.type + "'
occurred.");
</mx:Script>
<mx:Button id="b1" label="Click Me"
click="myEventHandler(event)"/>
</mx:Application>
It is best practice to include the event keyword when you
define all inline
event listeners and to specify the most stringent Event
object type in the
resulting listener function (for example, specify MouseEvent
instead of
Event).
You can use the Event object to access a reference to the
target object (the
object that dispatched the event), the type of event (for
example, click),
or other relevant properties, such as the row number and
value in a
list-based control. You can also use the Event object to
access methods and
properties of the target component, or the component that
dispatched the
event.
Although you will most often pass the entire Event object to
an event
listener, you can just pass individual properties, as the
following example
shows:

<mx:Application xmlns:mx="
http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml">
<mx:Script>
import mx.controls.Alert;
private function myEventHandler(s:String):void {
Alert.show("Current Target: " + s);
</mx:Script>
<mx:Button id="b1" label="Click Me"
click="myEventHandler(event.currentTarget.id)"/>
</mx:Application>
Registering an event listener inline provides less
flexibility than using
the addEventListener() method to register event listeners.
The drawbacks are
that you cannot set the useCapture or priority properties on
the Event
object and that you cannot remove the listener once you add
it.
don't see anything in there about anonymous functions...?
