Dynamically set a value based on value selected from LOV

I'm having trouble creating a dynamic action to set a value. I've used dynamic actions to hide and show regions but for some reason cannot set a value.
I have a select list --> P101_LIST. Source Type is 'Database Column'. Source value or expression is 'person_id' The query is as follows:
Select first_name, person_id
From Persons
I have a display value --> P101_DISPLAY. Source Type is 'Static Assignment'. Source value or expression I left blank.
I would like for every time the user selects a name from P101_LIST, the P101_DISPLAY item gets updated to show the corresponding value(person_id).
Because there are other page items / information on the page, I would prefer this to not submit / update the page. Wouldn't want other page items / information getting updated.
Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

:P101_DISPLAY := :P101_LIST;
Items to submit: P101_LIST
Item to return: P101_DISPLAY
And done.

How can we use C# to read dynamic parameter's value list from .rpt?

I'm using Cystal Report 2008. We know starting from CR XI we can create dynamic parameters, the list of items of this kind of parameter are fetching from database. So in general the SQLs to get the list of values for dynamic parameters are stored in the .rpt.
In Crystal Report Designer, if I preview a report with dynamic parameters, it will first query the database and then show the input dialog with list of values from database for user to choose. My question is can we implement the same thing by our C# code? I'm planning to use C# code to read this dynamic parameter's value list from .rpt and render them on the web page. Then pass back the user selected values to the .rpt to run the report after user make the choice. I didn't find any APIs can do this. Is it possible?

How to set the value of an LOV in CO prgramatically and get the Pkey value?

Hi,
I need to set a value to a LOV, say ItemLOV in a page through CO and get the Primaykey that LOV will return. How can I achieve this?
Req:
1. Set the Item_Name, say 'DELL_1618' so that the page displays this in the LOV.
2. Fetch the PK value returned by LOV in the backend into a VO attribute say Item_ID, '100009881'.

Sorry, I replied for General LOV Scenario, but want to set it programatically right,
You need to execute your LOV query in Controller for Item 'DELL_1618' using prepared statement, get the value for both dispaly value and Id and set it to LOV and FormVlaue Item in PR of controller.

Trying to get a fourth field to populate based on the selection from three other dropdown menus.

I would like the Treatment Classification field to populate with a combination of text and numbers based on my selection from three other drop down menus.
For example:
If I select "0-No Hurt" in the AHL field, "0-No Hurt in the PHL field, and "Near Miss in the Treatment Choice field, then the Treatment Classification field would populate to "L00NM".
If I select "2-Moderate Hurt: in the AHL, "4-Fatality" in the PHL field, and "Restricted Work Incident" in the Treatment Choice field, then the Treatment Classifiaction field would populate to "L24RWI".
If I select "1-Minor Hurt" in the AHL field, "4-Fatality" in the PHL field, and "Medical Treatment Incident" in the Treqatment Choice field, then the Treatment Classifiaction field would populate to "L14MTI".
Etc, etc, etc.
I could then fill in the resyt of the script with the required text.
Not sure how to load my PDF file.

Do your dropdown list items currently have export values set up? It seems like the value you want to construct is simply concatenating the values of the three dropdowns, and this would be easy if you set the export values of the list items appropriately. For example, the export value for the "0-No Hurt" item would be 0 and for "Near Miss" it would be "NM", etc., so the script could look something like:
// Get the values of the drop downs, as strings
var v1 = getField("AHL").valueAsString;
var v2 = getField("PHL").valueAsString;
var v3 = getField("Treatment Choices").valueAsString;
// Set this field's value

Can we return a value in two field based on a value select in LOV?

i have a lov attached to a non-bind text field. when i select a value from non bind field lov, a record group of another LOV attached to a database item field generated. both text field are in same block.
LOV record group query of non-bind field is:
select cli_desc,cli from ivt_cli_mst
mapping is done for same lov field.
as: LOV record group query of database item_field :blk_stg_mst.item_cd is

assign LOV to database item.(as usual setting the lov reuturn column to it). in the when validate item of database field assign value to no db field(something like if :db column is not null then :nondb_col := :dbcolumn).

Is there a way to fill a cell with a value based on the selection from another cell?

For example: If have a drop down menu created for Cell A1 with options (Dog 1, Cat 2, Bird 3). Is there a way to fill cell A2 automatically when I select from the drop down menu.
So if I selected 'Cat' in A1, cell A2 would automatically input the 2.

I suggest an extensible method that allows you to add other animals:
This method adds a small table called "Animal Lookup" that matches names (same as in the pop-up menu) with a value.
The table on the left uses this table to retrieve the value based on the animal:
B2=VLOOKUP(A2, Animal Lookup :: A:B, 2, 0)
select B2 and fill down

We are configuring the JMS adapter to put into an MQ topic. For this we are giving all the values for the configuration parameters like
Factory Properties.
JMS connection Factory
Transacted
Destination Type
Username
Password
Destination Name, etc...
and we are able to produce message on the MQ.
Our requirement is to dynamically pass the values for the above parameters from some configuraion files(other than oc4j-ra.xml), which will have value for each obove parameters.
Any help on this is highly appreciated.

Setting default value read from user session, for an LOV in Query component

I want to set the default value of a field in VO that participates in a named view criteria and thereby in Query component. That field is configured with an LOV by mean of a view accessor. The values are Y and N and the corresponding display strings obtained from view accessor are true and false respectively.
I am able to set the default value by setting the value of the criteria item corresponding to that field in view criteria. I am setting the value as either Y or N and I am able to corresponding display string as per the view accessor, on the query component when it is rendered.
I want to read the defauilt value from the ADF BC user session and set it as default value. I tried setting the values as "adf.userSession.userData.usageFlag". Iam ensuring that the attribute usageFlag is set before the view activity that has the query component is invoked. But this is ending up showing no default value in the Query component when rendered.
Can any one let me know how to go about with this?

Dynamically enable a field based on a selected table row

Hi everyone.
I'm getting really confused right now, please show me the right way. My approach may be, and probably is, wrong since I am self learning this and all I have is an ASP.NET background.
I have a page with a table in it. I've created a DataControl for a collection I've made and mapped it to the table. I added a column that shows an "edit" button. On it's click, I open a popup that shows the selected row's data. Naviguation controls are also present on the popup.
This is working fine.
My problem comes in the popup. Each row has multiples fields. These fields, shown on the popup, need to dynamically be enable/disable. To toggle those field, the only way I can see right now is to have a function that takes into parameter the rowId and the fieldName. Based on those two fields, I can get the necessary information to know if I need to enable or disable the control.
What I was aiming for, but then again I totally failed, was to have that function called on the "enabled" EL Expression, returning a Boolean.
Now that this has been said, can someone guide my on how to dynamically enable/disable each field based on the selected row.

If there is business logic that prohibits to update this object unless that is met.. you can also do it as..
In EOImpl .. override isAttributeUpdateable(int i) method eg:

How to set two values equal from different recordset?

I have created a posts recordset and a comments recordset
the comments table has a post_id to link the comment to a specific post through setting it equal to the id field in the posts table
so that whenever a post loads the comment whos post_id is equal to the id of the post should load
I know that if one advanced recordset combining the two tables is created I can set the values to be eqal in the where clause but doing so causes an error in the url parameters of the page.
Plz help guys and thanks in advance.

Add 1 variable
name: colname
type: numeric
default value: -1

so in browser URL it will be post_view.php?pid=1

How to show the columns dynamically in OBIEE report based on the selection?

I have a requirement where the columns should be dynamically shown in report based on what we select in propmt page.
I'm creating a report in OBIEE where i want to give an option to the end user to select the columns whichever he wants to see in the report.
For example I have the following columns in the report already:
Customer Name,
Customer Number,
Bank Account,
Address
I want to give an option to the user to select 'Customer Mail ID' dynamically and see the column to be displyed in the report along with the existing columns.
Through 'Column Selector' user can select a single column at a time, but if he want to select more than one column, how can we do this ?
Please help me out in resolving this issue.

Hi Chaithanya,
there's not a straight solution for this. You can create different analysis containing different number of columns and then directing the user to this analysis using Action Links or you can also use View Selector to switch from one view (analysis) to the other. But it's not going to be very flexible nor dynamic.

Setting current row of a view based on row selected from another view.

Hi,
We have two Views V1 and V2. Both views are based on the same tables except that V1 is based on multiple tables. In our application we are showing a read only table which is based on V1. The user can select a particular record for edit. But the edit page is based on V2 and as a result the first record always shows up for editing even though the user may have selected another record.
Is there a way we can pass the primary key of the record selected from V1 to V2 and set that record as the current record.
We have tried setCurrentRowWithKey, but this did not help.

post the PK as an URL parameter within the link you open the edit page. Then read this parameter in your page (the page with this link) action class and send it to an ActionBinding:

In your AppModule create a method nameOfBinding with primaryKey as in parameter

getV2().setWhereClause("PRIMARY_KEY=:0");
getV2().setWhereClauseParam(0,primaryKey );
getV2().executeQuery();
In the AppModule you have to publish this method in "ClientInterface".
Create an Action binding for this method in your list jsp.
