E-mail Account needs multiple password verifications.

Greetings,
Recently I have had to "Validate" my e-mail account {as many as 20 times per day}The message from blackberry is that the email account is no longer accessible by my blackberry device. this issue is likely caused by a recent change to the password used to access this account.I haven't changed my password lately nor to I want to.
Any ideas why I have had to validate my password so often?
Thanks to all that may help.

It's a disgraceful failure of any customer service by BT.  Had my Btinternet email account since they launched backin ... was it 1997?  Everything digital in my life is spidered into the account now.  Its been used as my registration point for virtually everything for the past fifteen years.  And now getting less than 30 days notice to try and find every single product and website I have registered with and then change all my details?!?!?  Hell, I'd need about a year to do so; and then I would still probably have missed some!  By their actions, they potentially cutting me off from products that I have purchased & tied to this email address.
Add to that the fact that their email that comes into your inbox sources from some dodgy 'analytics planning' website, as all the links route through there... I had serious doubts as to its legitimacy and forwarded it to their abuse contact & opened a case regarding it.  Highly unprofessional of them - especially when you consider that we are repeatedly advised by BT to never click on links unless we are sure of their validity.  And should never, ever, enter our account details on any other site other than theirs.
Shoddy BT, very very shoddy.  I would expect a higher standard of business from such a company.  And would definitely expect a proper notification click through to come up regarding this service change when I log into email.  I would say a good proportion of their users will deregard the email as a phishing attempt.  **bleep** cowboy operation.

  • Unable to add a mail account, with Invalid Password error message, yet can log into mail system OK through a browser. Mail technicians can't find the problem.

When I try to add a newly-created Bigpond account to Thunderbird, I get an error message "User Name or Password Invalid", yet I can log in to this account OK through a browser. When adding the account, Thunderbird says "Configuration found in Mozilla ISP database". I have previously successfully added Bigpond, Yahoo, Outlook and Hotmail accounts to Thunderbird and they are working fine. The Bigpond Technical Support staff have looked into this and cannot see what is wrong but they say they do not support Thunderbird. Any ideas appreciated...

Thanks. I had tried the auto and manual setups with the same result. IN addition, the Bigpond Support sent me the following which I also tried and got the same result.
For the settings that needs to be configured for your new mailbox, kindly follow the steps listed below:
(**Note: Please be advised that BigPond technical support team is only trained for Microsoft mail clients like Outlook Express, windows Live mail and the like. Having said this, we can only provide limited assistance in setting up your email account for your Thunderbird mail client by providing the correct settings that need to be configured.)
    For IMAP server settings:
    Account Type: IMAP
    Incoming IMAP server: imap-mail.outlook.com
    Incoming IMAP mail: port 993
    Outgoing SMTP server: smtp-mail.outlook.com
Outgoing SMTP port: 587 (with TLS [preferred] or SSL Encryption depending on your e mail app)
Incoming uses SSL: On (this is required)
Outgoing uses SSL: On (this is required) (with TLS [preferred] or SSL Encryption depending on your e mail app)
Authentication Outgoing server (SMTP) authentication: Same as incoming mail server
    For POP server settings:
Please be advised that before setting up your email account on an email client using a POP mail server, we will need to ensure first that 'Connecting devices and apps with POP' has been enabled through webmail. For instructions on how to do this, kindly follow the steps below:
    - Log In your email account from the BigPond website from the Webmail section located at the top left side of the BigPond home page (http://media.telstra.com.au/home.html).
    - The page then will automatically redirect to an Outlook website in which you will need to click the 'settings icon' (a gear like icon) located at the top left side of the page.
    - From the drop down list, click on 'Options'.
    - It will then direct the page to a new page where you will need to click 'Connect devices and apps with POP' under the Managing your account section.
    - Choose 'Enable' and choose "Do what the device or app says—if it's set to delete messages, delete them." under Deleting downloaded messages.
    - Click on the 'Save' button to save the changes.
    - Log out of from your webmail page and start setting up your email client on your mail client using the following setting below:
    Account Type: POP3
    Incoming POP server: pop-mail.outlook.com
    Incoming POP mail: port 995
    Outgoing SMTP server: smtp-mail.outlook.com
Outgoing SMTP port: 587 (with TLS [preferred] or SSL Encryption depending on your e mail app)
Incoming uses SSL: On (this is required)
Outgoing uses SSL: On (this is required) (with TLS [preferred] or SSL Encryption depending on your e mail app)
Authentication Outgoing server (SMTP) authentication: Same as incoming mail server
In looking at the Thunderbird error message, it seems to consistently refer to the User Name and Password. I know they are correct, as I can log in from a browser using them. Is there something in the validation rules that might be the problem? Also, you may be aware that Bigpond is migrating their old Webmail system across to the Outlook platform. Registering new e-mail accounts in Bigpond get created on the Outlook platform, whereas older accounts are still on the Bigpond Webmail system. Is this causing a problem somewhere in validation?

  • Adding an e-mail account with no password

I used to have my work e-mail address (not an enterprise account) linked to my blackberry. I have no idea how it happened. When I tried to set it up it asked for a password and I didn't have one for it. I closed the e-mail set-up thinking it had not worked.  However, despite the blackberry saying it could not set-up the account, lo and behold a few minutes later I got the e-mail account activation message and everything was working. This was before I downloaded the new OS.
Fast forward to today: the e-mail account accidently was deleted. Now when I try to set it up I get more or less the same messages but it does not work magically as it did before.
I have contacted our IT administrator to ask if there is ac password for my specific e-mail.  We use Microsoft Exchange Server.  He told me there are no other passwords than the one I use to access my e-mail through the internet.  However, I have tried that password and it does not work.
Any help about this issue is appreciated.
    Luke

    Hiya!
It will need the password. Have you by chance reset the password and re-tried?
failing that, try loging into your BIS account here
    rogers.blackberry.com
and then setting up your email once logged into BIS account.
If you have forgotten your BIS login credentials. you can contact Rogers to have them reset it.
    hope that helps, lemme know!

  • Mail account says invalid password

I just got an iPhone 6 / 64gb, upgrading from an iPhone 5.  I backed up the 5 to my computer, and did a restore to my iPhone 6.  Everything came over and looked ok, but my primary email account isn’t working.  It does not collect mail, and when I attempt to send mail it says ‘cannot send mail  user name or password invalid’.
This is one of several accounts on the phone, the other 4 email accounts are collecting / sending correctly.
The password is unchanged.  I verified the password on my still working over wifi iPhone 5, as well as my iMac.  I’ve restarted the phone, tried deleting / re-adding the account to no avail.  I tried updating the password ( to the same value ) and restarting the phone, no change.
    Any ideas?
    thanks,
    Dave

What email account are you using?
Check your SMTP settings for your email address and make sure the correct primary account is selected.

  • BT are shutting my e-mail account-Need help!!!

Just found out that my email account will close on 16th sept unless I pay for it as my broadband is with another provider(free as hubby works for other provider). I have had this account for at least 5 years, back in the day it was talk21.
I do have a g-mail account which i've never used its just linked to my mobile, my questions are, Is there an easy way to move every thing I have stored in my mail account over to G-mail (lots as you can imagine over five years) and do I have to notify everyone of my e-mail change where I have used it as a login or can I still use it as a login. Its going to take me till the 16th to sort this out I think

  • Mail account with 2 passwords

I have this requirement. Client uses exchange server. Two people will have the same email account with different passwords.
To open the mail account, both of them together have to provide the password in 2 steps. Can 2 static passwords can be supported in this scenario or it has to be like 2 step validation with one static password and one dynamic code received through a phone.
How can the 2 static passwords can be implemented.
    Thanks

  • How do I sync my mail accounts on multiple apple products?

My live.com account will not sync with my iphone and ipad. If I receive and delete emails on my phone, I have to do the whole process again with the same emails once I am on my ipad/laptop. I have 2 accounts and one of them is in sync with my other devices but my live.com account is not. Is there a way to sync my account on all my apple devices to where once I delete or look at an email, I don't have to do it again on all my other apple devices?

    Hi
You will probably have to add the mail accounts yourself onto the iphone see here:

  • Is there a way to default send from one mail account across multiple mail accounts?

I have a user who has her own Exchange mailbox account. I have added two separate Exchange mail accounts. I want to be able to force her (even if she is in one of the other two mail accounts) to send from her own Exchange account. I know you can manually change it every time, but is there a way to force it automatically? Thanks.

Nope. There is no universal mailbox on the iPhone.

  • IMAP server with multiple mail account on multiple mail clients

    Hello,
I have the following problem that I would like to share with the community in order to find a solution.
On my Mac OS X Maverick (OS X 10.9.3 (Build 13D65)) Server (Server 3.1.2 (Build 13S4517)) I configured dovecot (Ver. 2.2) as IMAP server.
I created 8 email accounts on the server and I started the email traffic on the system.
It works well and it sound good! But...
I started to configure different mail clients (i.e. OS Mail, Thunderbird, Outlook (different release, same behavior)) on different client machines (i.e. Mac OS X, Windows xxx, Lubuntu 14.04).
On each client I have to configure all 8 emails accounts previously created on the Server and...
    Something strange start to appear...
    1. On the dovecot error file a lot of messages appear like the following:
Jul 02 16:56:55 imap(pid 15241 user <xxxxx>): Fatal: setuid(505(<xxxxx>) from userdb lookup) failed with euid=506(<yyyyy>): Operation not permitted (This binary should probably be called with process user set to 505(<xxxxx>) instead of 506(<yyyyy>))
but also if it's not normal there are not problems and dovecot works fine...
    2. Sometime on the Thunderbird and Outlook clients a message that says that some account has been disconnected appears...
but also this problem appears a false because by moving on the different accounts configured I'm able to see the right emails present on the Server
    3. On the OS Mail clients I see continuously error messages that say that some account has been disconnected...
but also in this case the problem appears a false because by moving on the different accounts configured I'm able to see the right emails present on the Server (also if with some trouble more than the other email clients...)
Now, the question is: have you may be information about problems with this kind of configuration? Maybe am I trying to make something that at the moment is not possible to be made? Or, have I found a bug (or more than one) in the components that I'm using?
Thanks a lot to all the people that will help me

Assuming you're on a NAT'd network, DNS services can cause all sorts of weird errors with the mail server, including spontaneous name changes.
To verify local DNS services, launch Terminal.app from Applications > Utilities and issue the following harmless diagnostic message:
    sudo changeip -checkhostname
You'll need to enter an administrative password for the sudo, might see a one-time informational message around the usage of sudo, then you'll see some host and network configuration information, and finally an indication that either no changes are required, or that there are local DNS or the network has configuration issues.  Also, make sure you're not using .local or .arpa as the top-level domain within the DNS services.
Public DNS for the mail server can also cause communications issues, if that's not configured correctly — that won't cause the issue you're seeing in the logs here, but it will cause inbound mail to not reach your server, and outbound mail from your server to be dropped by the remote server.  To verify your public DNS, launch Terminal.app from Applications > Utilities and issue the commands discussed in this thread or this thread and confirm that your internal and external MX record and your internal and external forward and reverse DNS settings are all correct.

  • Why doesn't my iCloud e-mail account remember my password

Since upgrading to Mavericks two days ago, each time I open mail the first thing that appears is a box for me to put in my i-cloud password.
I do this and then go to peferences/accounts and put the password in the appropriate box and save the preferences.
This is all to no avail as the next time I open the program, the same thing happens again
    Any clues?
    Thanks

It's ok - i figured that you need to delete the account and then re sign in.

  • Mail accounts on multiple devices not staying synchronized

    Hi
I'm having trouble with keeping my Gmail accounts synchronized.  I have a MacBook Air running Mavericks and an iMac also running 10.9.2.
After deleting many emails from the Gmail account on the MacBook, the same emails are not being deleted from my iMac.
I believe I have the Gmail account settings the same on both computers.
I'm not really clear what the synchronize functions of Mail do, since not much seems to happen when I click on them.
I didn't have this problem until recently updating Mavericks, but I am not sure if that is the cause.
I'm not really sure how to trouble shoot this one, which is why I am asking for help.

    Hi
Thanks.  Still going nuts with this.
Do I need to also delete the un-synched accounts from my mobile devices?  Or just the computers using Mavericks?

  • TS3988 The calendar items that I have updated on my desktop recently are not uploading to my phone. I'm not even sure iCloud is working at all for me right now. I have received a message that my @me account needs a password, but I have another apple ID in

    Please help!

Your me address does not necessarily have to be the same as your ID. If you are receiving messages about your password in regard to your me address that is related to your ID, this may well be an issue with mail only. However you should check System preferences> iCloud, to make sure you are logged into the correct account.
First check that all your settings are correct, that calendar syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the calendars you are using are in your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud account (you can do this by clicking/tapping the calendar button in the top left corner of the application ), non iCloud calendars will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your calendars are in the iCloud account, you might try unchecking calendar syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling calendar syncing settings.
