E-Recruiting implementation

Dear experts,
We are about to implement e-Recruiting and we are still doubtful about which scenario to implement
Roughly we would like to use our portal to give internal access to employee and implement integrated e-recruiting on our ERP HR system (EHP5) and use a distributed wed dynpro scenario (split between internal & external access)
For external access, we would like to reuse a reverse proxy we have in our DMZ but then my question is
Do we need to put in place E-Recruiting UI frontend in the DMZ, or is it reasonable to put it in the intranet ?
My question is for sure related to security criteria as we do not want to take any risk. But here we have no idea if we take any risk by installing the frontend UI server in the LAN rather than in the DMZ with the reverse proxy...
Then for sure, whatever the solution chosen, the external frontend UI server will then be linked via RFC to the backend.
Question is to combine security and ease our administration activities (as it is a bit more fastidious to maintain a landscape in the DMZ rather than in the intranet zone, at least for us
Thank you in advance for any advice and support !
Regards,
Yvan

The PDF in note 997181 will give you the architecture for single instance scenario and integrated scenario
Regardless of which scenario you choose though, there will always be even in standalone instance some personal data stored such as name, email address, alias etc although "no security relevant data' meaning that the candidate data (sensitive
protected data like address) is stored on the backend E-Recruiting system which is in the secure area (protected by firewall). The front-end system is outside that area but doesn't have any data stored and is only used by the candidates to logon and start the services BUT the data is always called from the backend via RFC calls.
The front-end is essentially starting the services in this particular scenario.
There was another thread on this in SDN also;
http://forums.sdn.sap.com/message.jspa?messageID=8063683
Plus notes 128447 (regarding trusted connection) and also 1147882 in E-Recruiting context might help you here too.
Hope its useful

  • EREC - E-recruitment implementation (pre-requisites)

    Hi,
I hav just started with a project related to E-Rec  EHP4 implementation.May i request E-Rec experts on community to share some pre-requisites for me to start with.
Scenario : E-Rec is being implemented as a separate system with integration to HR system. (data from HR to E-rec will flow through ALE)
    1. What all switches and extensions in need to activate in SFW5?
    2. What all things are required to be configured in IMG ?
    3. What all things I need to configure through Portal ? Which roles should i get on the portal?
    4. What all activities are to be done by following people in ERec Implementation

    > Portal Consultants & Webdynpro
    > ABAP-HR Consultants (BAdI's,etc)

  • E-Recruitment 6.0 Architecture considerations

I am looking for some documentation which covers the points to be considered while designing the E-rec architecture. Target versions :
    E-rec 6.0,
    ERP/HCM : ERP 6.0 EhP4 on NW7.0 EhP1
ESS/MSS portal (in intranet): NW7.0 SP??
Existing SAP portal (with KM) : NW7.0 SP18
Here are our current considerations :
    1) Standalone Vs Integrated : We are decising to go for integrated approach, i.e. E-rec and ERP/HCM on the same instance. With this we are accpecting the challanges with version dependencies and taking the advanntage of lesser systems and so less administration/ configuration (RFC/ALE) cost.
    2) Fronend (UI) or w/o Frontend : Here if the role of the fronend is just a proxy, then we can use ISA or apachy instead of using additional SAP instance (Landscape). With ISA or apachy we can maintain the reverse proxy rules and so the external candidate willl not see hostname and other sensitive details of the URL.
Can someone please throw some light on this? Can someone redirect me to the right documentations?
    Thanks in advance.
    Shrikrishna

    Thanks Sunny for your reply.
My question was around necessity of E-recruitment frontend.
    My uderstanding is as follows:
E-recruitment frontend is ABAP+JAVA (NW 7.0) install with E-recruitment add-on (same as E-recruitment backend install). E-recruitement frontend (UI) contains user data and repositories of webdynpro required for E-recruitment application. So this means in all E-recruitment implementation needs this UI, webdynpros and user data. This frontend piece will be accessed by expernal candidates and non-registered recruiters (anonymous users) from internet, and so this piece MUST be in DMZ (or in other words accessible from inetrnet)
Question is When we are using integrated E-recruitment option (i.e. install ERP 6.0with HCM and E-recruitment backend/frontend for internal candidates and ALSO E-RECRUITMENT FRONTEND for EXTERNAL CANDIDATES on same instance), then we are probably exposing our ERP or HCM data on internet. Am I right? Can this be addressed by Proxis like Apache? Are there any BIG security concerns? Does customer go with such approach?
or we can completely deloy this E-recruitment frontend for external candidates functionality on SAP enterprise portal, but it do not have any ABAP stank.. Any issues?
    Thanks,
    Krishna

  • Error Occured when Applying Structural Authorizations in E-Recruitment

    Dear Experts,
The E-Recruitment functionalities were working fine when no structural authorizations are applied. However, when structural authorizations are configured for the user on the backend SAP system (I configured structural authorizations for the user to have access to only his own department), the E-Recruitment module does not work.

Please advice if E-Recruitment supports structural authorizations. If it does, are there additional configuration required to enable structural authorization. Kindly enlighten me on how to resolve this error. Any help will be much appreciated.

    Hello Louis,
I implemented e-recruiting with structural authorizations for a customer and encountered exactly the same error. Anything in the e-recruiting implementation leads to this problem. When you miss some object authorizations the implementation generates an infinite callstack which results in this short dump.
So be sure you assigned all necessary objects to recruiters and also candidates (NA, NB, NC, ND, NE, NF, BP, CP, P, Q, QK, VA, VB, VC) but this might be difficult esp. with the P object, when you use structural authorizations for other purposes, too. This usually generates problems in manager involvement (e.g. manager can't choose a recruiter to approve his requisition as he has not the structural authorization for the hr department members).
It is also a bit strange that candidates need for example change rights for the requisition (NB) although they won't actually change it but without it the relation application->requisition, candidacy->requsition cannot be created correctly.
Last but not least be always sure that you refreshed the authorization buffers after changing structural authorizations. They are usually switched on for better performance.
    Best regards
    Roman Weise
PS: be aware that using structural authorizations will keep you busy for some time. we needed ~2 months to set up the system in a way that e-recruiting worked as the custoimer wanted without interfering any other productive hr component (admin, org. mgmnt., managers desktop).

  • Using SAP Content Server for SAP E-Recruitment

    Hi SAP Experts,
We are presently implementing SAP E-Recruitment using BSP services, We are successfully runnig with Whole E-recruitng cycle when we use SAP system DB as storgae for External Candidtes' Documents.
But, Our Client wants to have SAP Content Server to store all documents uploaded by External/Internal Candidates becuase client is worrying that if SAP system DB holds such huge data base of Resumes, it may slow down the performance of SAP System.
So, We need inputs from you suggesting whether is it feasible to use SAP Content server for SAP E-Recruitment Implementation. SAP no where suggests to Content server. So, we are in deliema to go for content server or not. If it is feasible to use Content server, pls provide me proper links or documents for reference.
    Please give your valuable inputs,
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sudheer Kumar P

    Hi Sudheer,
We are considering the same option.  We are concerned about performance after all these documents are uploaded too.  Did you install a content server?  How did it go and was it difficult to set up with e-rec?
    Thanks

  • Best practice for Recruitment

    Hi Guys,
My client is located in 500 places, all over the India. The operational head of each client place will recruit the employee as & when requires & send ESI, PF enrollment forms to the Head Office.
Now they are asking me,  what SAP Best Practice will suggest. Can any one tell me what is "SAP Best Practice" & what it suggests.
    Regards
    Prasad

I think what they are looking for is Best Practices in SAP enabled Recruitment processes in light of the new hire forms (based on below statement).
What that means is what is the right approach to do this based on different SAP Recruitment implementations.
You may be able to get some of this information from SAP Service marketplace.
Based on what I have seen, the best practice is to provide for an online tool (I think SAP E-Recruitment offers this) for the applicants to sign in with a given id and passwd and collect documents electronically. Then the paper documents can later be mailed to head office at a later date.
    Hope that helps.

  • E-Recruiting Questionnaires integrated in Entry of External Applications

    Hi,
is it possible to integrate Questionnaires in the function "Entry of External Applications"? I need the recruiter to be able to complete questionnaires for the candidate within entering external applications.
If I try to integrate Element 0012 "Application Wizard: Questionnaire" using container sequences I get an internal error. Is it necessary to create a custom BSP page for this purpose?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks and regards
    Gabriel

    Hello Gabriel,
integrating the questionaire function into the candidate profile maitenance you can enter from the Manual/Minimum data entry for external applications handed in by hardcover or email is not possible. Reason for that is the different object relation of the application wizard and the candidate profile container sequence items which is leading to the error you encountered when you tried to mix the containersequences.
Usually when implementing e-Recruiting and you decide to use the manual data entry function at all you use a different szenario. The system is designed that after entering the data you can switch to the candidate selection and add the application wizard questionare through creating an activity. If the candidate gave you an email address you easily send him the questionaire so he can fill it. If you have no email address you can send a letter with a printout of the questionaire which is entered by a recruiter/datatypist when returned or you just call the candidate an fill in his answers.
Í admit that this is a bit more time consuming than having the recruiter enter the information directly but as I have seen in most cases the recruiter does not get all of the information needed from the cv and stuff the applicant send in.
In an approach to give a full answer to your question I think you should also know that there is another organizational solution to this problem which is mostly on the process design side of the e-Recruiting implementation. Many companies just bypass this MDE questionaire topic by a strict restriction of hardcover applications. Often companies do not accept and enter these applications into the e-Recruiting system at all. They just print a letter from Word saying the applicant he shall use the online way. The Manual Data Entry is only for real Talents/Star-Applicants they need so urgently that they really cannot effort to loose them by forcing them to enter their data online. But if someone is so good, so special noone cares about the questionaire - just invite him to the interview and ask him.
To be honest I recommened this solution as it is the most efficiant way to deal with hardcover applicastions.
    Best Rgds.

  • Using E-recuitment 600 on ERP 6.0 Ehp4 (NW 7.01)

    Hello,
We have upgraded ERP system to ERP6.0 Ehp4 on NW 7.0 Ehp1. Now we are
planning to implement E-Recruitment. We are thinking of using
development system in production support landscape for E-recruitment
implementation project.. yes same development system in production
support and project landscape......and therefore we are trying to
minimize the application on support packs/ OSS notes.
We are also planning for intergrated E-recruitment backend system and
separate E-recruitment frontend for external candidates.
    Question is:
    Can we implement E-recruitment 600 (NOT 604) on ERP 6.0 Ehp4 (on
NW7.01)? Will there be any real issues? Any reference documentation is
    highly appreciated.
    Thanks,

    > i have few questions regarding above
(Almost) all of your questions are answered in the note:
    > 2.Do wee need to apply the above note for non-unicode upgrade
    <...>
Even on non-Unicode system you should replace all matchcodes that are still required by search helps.
    <...>
    > 3.Note 1330256  recomends to apply support pack or to apply the Note 1330256  ,but we can do it only at upgraded version.
Yes - it avoids dumping with the dump mentioned in the note
    > 4.How to identify the matchcodes
    <...>
You can use the program TWTOOL01 to determine the existence of matchcodes.
    <...>
    > 5.How to delete them
    <...>
You can then use the function module DD_MCOB_DEL to delete matchcode objects, and the function module DD_OBJ_DEL to delete matchcode IDs.
    <...>
    > 6.Impact of deleteing matchcodes
None since they were replaces by search helps.

  • Alternative to Report RCF_CREATE_USER

    Hi Friends
I am currently working to get the E-recruiting system up. Currently, I am using the report RCF_CREATE_USER to create the User Id and candidate. But in the documentation of the report, it is said as follows:
'Note that this report should be used for exceptions only. As a rule, external candidates register using the appropriate Web scenario of the application, and employees are imported from an HR system using the master data interface (ALE)'.
Can anybody please suggest a detailed procedure. Thanks in advance.

    Hello Sandra,
i am not sure if this is still a valid issue but in general first thing to know is the landscape you plan e-recruiting to be installed. furthermore the release installed for e-recruiting and the hr core system is important.
if you install e-recruiting on the same system the hr core (admin, org. mgmt, payroll) is running, the integration depends on the e-recruiting release. for e-recruiting 300 the integration is asynchrous. You have to run the SYNC_PERSON report mentioned above periodically to make internal candidates from all employees and keep their data up to date. If you install e-recruiting 600 there is a synchronous integration. Setting up this integration is one of the most difficult task in the technical steps of an e-recruiting implementation (the documentation is not really complete ;o(). If it is set up completely, every change in the hr master data is directly transfered to the e-recruiting. For the initial transfer there is report HRALXSYNC which has to be run once for all employees to create their internal candidates - but this report needs the full integration configuration.
if you install the e-recruiting on a separate system the creation of internal candidates is done by the ALE integration. The configuration depends in parts of the releases of e-recruiting and hr core system, esp. when it comes to the IDOC types. The standard configuration transferes parts of the organizational structure (O, S, C) and creates internal candidates from employee infotype 0000, 0001, 0002, 0006 and 0105 (Subtype 0001, 0010). While the transfer of the organizational entities is standard hr data distribution, the candidate creation is implemented in BAdIs an can be changed up to a certain point.
For the initial data transfer there is the transaction PFAL which is run from the HR Core System to create IDOCs for all Org. entities and Employees. After the initial transfer a periodical job has to run every day to process the hr change pointers.
Some configuration options are strongly recommented from my experience to avoid problems when booking the IDOCs into e-recruiting, like asynchronous import and no packaging. Furthermore everyone transfering IT0006 should have a look at a new note, released only some days ago, which is supposed to solve a problem with adress information update existing since e-recruiting 200.
For more detailed information please supply additional information of you landscape.
    Best rgds.

  • E-rec   How to create or generate the index category????? SOS!!!!!

    Hi guys,
How to create or generate the index category?.
From the posts of this forum I have read more things but anything works:
    reports:
    -RSRETT02
    -RCF_INITIALIZE_KPRO
    -RSTIRIDX_INDXCAT_RETRIEVE
Can anyone show me the way?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
If you haveat least Version 7.10.18 then KPro configurations are no longer required. Did you activate Business Function HCM_ERC_SES_1 as this is required for SES? The scenario to choose will depened on whether you are making a new implementation, upgrading without use of SES before or upgrading after using SES with earlier versions. Scenario 1 is for when you have activated HCM_ERC_CI_3 after using earlier versions with HCM_ERC_SES_1 already activated. Scenario 2 is for those who have upgrade and activated HCM_ERC_CI_3 but where using search without SES in their earlier version. Last scenario is when you are making a new e-Recruiting implementation (not upgrading). Also check notes 1426757 and 817145.
When you try to search are you getting an error? Can you check in SLG1 transaction after trying to search and post the error messages. Also can you execute report RCF_CHECK_SEARCH_SETTINGS as it will point you to the missing configurations points if any based on your version.

  • Implementing e-Recruitment and HR on same/different server

    Hi Friends,
We are in the process of implementing e-Recruitment for an Organisation with approx. size of 15,000 employees. This will also include Internal Job Postings.
I have the following questions in this respect:
    1. Should E-Recruitment 6.0 and HR ECC 6.0 be implemented on the same server or seperate servers ? What are the pros and cons in both the
    scenarios ??
    2. Should the E-Recuitment portal server be different from the HR-ESS
server or shall it be implemented on top of ESS portal 7.0 ??
    3. Which server scenario is recommended ?
    Regards,
    Shashank

    Hi Shashank
    1.  Its not mandatory that ECC & E recruitment shd in the seperate servers.  But because of few security reasons, they will be maintained seperately.  For example:  E recruitment will be accessed by the external people also, who want to apply for external job posting.  So, there is a risk for ECC for exposure of data like employee master data, financial details etc., actually this risk is not direct, but by any chance that someone might hack to get the data - just to avoid the chances, thats all.
    2.  The Erecruitment & ESS can be in the same server for internal job posting
    3.  Better suggestion would be ECC & E rec would be in seperate servers.
    Regards

  • Technical requirements for E-recruitment tool implementations

    Hello,
    We are using 4.7 version.
We bought ECC 6.0 just a test server without portal facility for practice. Now we require the portal access. Can anybody says that how we can get that from SAP, Our main purpose is to use E-recrutiment in Portal since we already have ECC 6.0. Now we would like to buy EP tool also, however we need to give complete technical requirements for E-recruitment tool implementations for approval.
    your information is highly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Nydia.

    Hi,
For SAP Netweaver Products which includes Enterprise Portal, Business Intelligence and Process Integration you have to buy seperate license.
If you plan to use only E-Recruit then in ECC 6.0 you can install Enterprise Portal as Add-on Component, Generally Portal takes more system resources. If you plan to use only E-Recruit then performance will be fine.
    Hope it helps

  • Implementing E-Recruitment

We are currently on using SAP HR only on release 4.7 and are looking to implement E-Recruiting.  We do not plan to upgrade in the near future.
We had a site visit from an SAP Consultant who recommended we implement the E-Recruitment 6.0 on an ERP2005 stand alone system communicating to our existing R/3 4.7 system.
We are trying to find similar sites that have implemented or are in the process of implementing E-Recruitment.  Initially we are trying to find out what skill sets or training we are going to need so we can implement a sandbox site for us to get more knowledge from.  We are also struggling to find the minimum hardware we would need to implement a sandbox version of ERP2005 with E-recruitment.
Any help or assistance you can provide will be very much appreciated as we have very little knowledge in the new E-Recruitment area.

    Hi Guys
Sorry to jump on this tread with not much else to contribute. I do have an urgent problem.
We are currently in the process of implementing E-Recruitment 3.0 as an extension to ECC 5. I have configured the system and have been doing some unit testing, and have found that when I
    - try to "Apply  Directly" in tab "Career and Job". If I enter the reference details of the specific job it finds the specific. Or if I leave the input field blank and hit the search button, it returns all jobs posted. However, if I try using a the "Search for Jobs" link option, I get a consistent error "An internal error occurred. Please try again later"
When I check transaction SLG1.....and the error log says the termination occured in a program called CL_HRRCF_ABDTRACT_CONTROLLER==CM001 line 56 and CL_HRRCF_SEARCH_MASK_GROUP====CM00M line 15
Same thing happens when searching for candidates to assign requisitions to.
Has anyone come across this prolem before? Any help will be greatly appreciated, as we have a tight deadline.
    Cheers
