E71 message: USB connection in progress

Hi,
I get this message, although my phone is not connected to the PC. It seems I can't get rid of the message. Everytime when I disconnect my phone from the PC after saving music on the card I get this nasty message. What can I do to avoid this?
Thanks for your help.
Marco

The problem I am having is that I connect my E71 to my laptop via USB and all it good, I can text, browse use the phone like I want to whilst it is connected.
Then I look everywhere for the disconnect (or remove hardware safely), the best option I get is to access the tools menu from and manage connections.  Then remove the option for USB (which appears to disconnect the phone).
Then I can't get the phone to disconnect. So I go to connections in the phone and try to disconnect or go to Offline mode, but USB connection image is still displayed and the Media browser says "USB connection in progress".
The only option I have is to turn off the phone.
When I turn the phone back on, my media library is corrupt and the phone has to search  and repair the database.   this takes about 10 minutes.
So far I haven't found an answer on the web, only other people experiencing the problems.
please help.
thanks
Mike

I will definitely do my best to assist you with installing your Officejet 8610 on your Windows XP computer
Without seeing the install and knowing what step it made it to I can't really say if it's normal, but with XP being an older operating system, it could take a little bit longer.
I realize it's now been a few days since you posted this so were you able to get the printer installed? If not, what happened? Did you get an error? If so, where in the install?

I had an update message on my phone and I clicked yes to update.  Now the phone has a picture of itunes and usb connection, but can't be used.  itunes says I have to restore my phone, but will lose all the data.  Is there anything else I can do? I really don't want to lose all my pictures and other data.

It's in recovery mode. There is nothing left on the phone at all. If you didn't back it up before you started, your data is gone.
you have no choice but to restore at this point.

The error that pops up is:
The device "Lacie Rugged USB3-FW" was unable to connect to its ideal host controller.
Please anyone could suggest what the solution could be?
    Thanks.

But my 1 tb hdd is already formatted via ex fat which can work on both mac and Windows no limitation of file size also like if we use ntfs or fat it has a restriction of 4gb file size.

    Hi, clara_from_brazi.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here are some troubleshooting steps that I would recommend when experiencing this issue.  Also, test connecting the external storage device to the computer with another cable as this can be the issue.

Hi. During the process of updating my ipad to IOS 6 utilizing iTunes, I received the error #1602. I tried the update procedure again, this time itunes does not recognize the devise. The pad is displaying USB connecter to iTunes. Can anyone recomend a fix?
    Thank you

There is only one fix now. The message on the screen means that you have to restore the iOS software on the iPad now. Read the part at the very end about using recovery mode.
iTunes: Restoring iOS software - Support - Apple
    About the error code.....
    Error 1600, 1601, 1602
Follow the steps listed above for Error 1604. This error may also be resolved by disabling, deactivating, or uninstalling third-party security, antivirus, and firewall software. See steps in this article for details on troubleshooting security software.
    If needed.....
    Additional Information
If your device is continually restarting, not responding, or showing the Apple logo with no progress bar or a stopped progress bar, place the device into recovery mode and try restoring again.

  • IPhone loses USB connection during sync

My new iPhone is working fine so far except for one pretty major issue: I can't sync music/videos to it very well, because about 20/30 seconds into the sync, it loses USB connection. The "Sync in Progress" screen disappears and it goes back to the home screen, and I get an error message in iTunes that says "The drive cannot be found" or "The drive cannot be read from or written to"
The sync itself does work, because I tried syncing a playlist with only one song, and it worked fine because it had time to sync before the connection was lost.
I have USB 2.0 ports and my drivers are updated. I've tried every USB port on my computer.

I read your other thread and a couple of things struck me.
First, it wasn't clear to me whether you'd actually turned off auto sync and then gone in and disabled everything except for a movie or two, let's say. Because we have definitely seen issues where other sync aspects (particularly email) cause issues with media syncing. If you haven't tried it it's definitely worth a try (go into iTunes with the iPhone connected and turn off auto sync -- then hook up the phone and turn off all sync options. I'd then try a music playlist with an album or two. If that works turn off music sync and try with a video or two).
Assuming the above gets you nowhere (and trying to place myself in your shoes) if you lived here in the US (which I don't think you do) the easy no-brainer thing to try would be something like this:
    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7833785&type=product&id=1142298626 004
Since Best Buy offers a money-back return policy this is safe to try and only involves a bit of work in installing the card. But doing this will isolate the MB from the problem, as well as any drivers issues (since the drivers for the card should be okay).
In the old days this kind of solution (albeit with firewire cards) was recommended all the time with iPods, and it solved about 98% of all difficulties. I don't have any data (even anectdotal) here to back it up, but my feeling is this should solve whatever problems you're having. If not it would be valuable information as well.
Overseas I don't know what to tell you, but if there's anyone listening in on this thread from the states perhaps they can try this and let everyone know.

  • IPhone USB connection error

For the past two months, I have been experiencing an error with my iPhone which started out as a nuisance, but is now downright annoying.
I typically leave my iPhone (first generation) in its cradle, connected to the USB port on my computer whenever I am at hope. Around 6-8 weeks ago, I noticed an annoying occurrence: at seemingly random intervals the phone's connection with the computer would seem to be interrupted by something. The phone's chime which rings when it is connected and disconnected from a USB device would ring and so would the complimentary chime on my computer. If I had iTunes open at the time, iTunes would pop-up displaying a garbled version of the iPhone device summary, and I would receive between 4 and 6 pop-up messages alerting me that:
"iTunes could not connect to the iPhone '' because an unknown error occurred (0xE8000035)"
After changing the USB port I connected the phone to and trying to leave the phone connected directly to the USB cable (bypassing the cradle in case there was some wiring problem there), I decided to just ignore the problem. I figured that due to frequent use, the pins in the dock-connector terminal on the device had worn away.
However, after downloading the iPhone 2.2 firmware, this problem has taken on a quite annoying angle. Now, in addition to the cycle of 6 disconnections and subsequent reconnections (which happens more frequently), the phone will spontaneously display a "Sync in Progress" message on its screen or enter some sort of reboot cycle. As best I can figure, this sync message is some sort of error on the part of the phone because iTunes does not seem to acknowledge the fact that a sync is in progress. The second new error - the spontaneous reboot cycle occurs at infrequent intervals (maybe once a day): the phone's screen will turn black with the animated "loading" circle spiraling to indicate the device is powering down. The device will then reboot, displaying the apple logo as-per normal. The second the normal iPhone screen appears, the USB connection quickly connects and disconnects, and the phone shuts down and restarts again. I have seen it continue this cycle 4 times before I halted the process by disconnecting the phone from the USB cable. After being disconnected from the USB cable, the phone continues its normal power-on procedure, except now that it is disconnected, it remains on and functions properly.
I would appreciate any advice that might be offered on this matter. I initially thought this was a hardware problem, and while I still think it may be one, the fact that the frequency of the problem and its nature have changed with the new software and the fact that the disconnect/reconnect cycles do not seem to be triggered by any physical movement, I would suspect something software-related.
I have iTunes 8.2.0.20 and iPhone firmware 2.2, although this problem did occur with at least iTunes 8.1 and iPhone 2.1.
Thank you very much for any and all help!
    --Will

From what I know about 0xE error codes, is that they can be related to memory among all things, and this usually happens when the computer cannot send data to the iPhone as fast as the iPhone needs it to. The iPhone will ask for something that hasn't been sent yet and because the receive is faster than the send it results in an 0xE error. (example : a bowl of apples - every time the computer puts out 1 apple the iPhone takes 2, because there are not 2 apples to take you get this error message.)
I would say this is your issue, but your computer seems pretty decked out, 4GB RAM, quad-core intel core 2 extreme, Nvidia GForce 8800 (woot!) have you checked to see if there are update available for you motherboard?
Might be space related, are you able to sync any data over? I would suggest just syncing 1 small playlist, or a few photos, or maybe just trying a different cable. I really wish I could help you on this one.
Clearly testing on another computer isn't an option.
As far as the iPhone power cycling the way it does, and the 'Sync In Progress' appearing on the iPhone but not the computer, there is clearly an inconsistency. I would suggest uninstall and reinstall iTunes, and the iPhone driver. I would also suggest restoring the iPhone as new, but if you are getting the error when syncing chances are your iPhone will get stuck in recovery mode.
Do you have any friends with a Windows or Mac computer?
    Best of luck ✰

    Hi all,
I have recently bought my E71 in Beijing (because I live here) and I can't access to internet via wifi/wlan! Below tools -> settings -> .... there is no wlan wizzard icon available? Why ???

    hello everybody
Please id like to know if i can download wireless sofware to my nokia e71 that doesn't have the WLAN wizard feature???
    Thanks
    Hi okridwan,
Nokia E71 supports WLAN connection. You can verify that by visiting this link: http://www.developer.nokia.com/Devices/Device_specifications/E71/
If you are referring to the software update, you may check the available update by using the Nokia Suite.
Before updating, use the Nokia Suite as well to back up your phone. You can be sure that your contacts, messages, calendar entries, tasks, web feeds, and other important stuff are backed up safely. The contents of your phone memory and memory card, such as photos and videos, are safe and won’t be affected during the update.
You can use the link to download the Nokia Suite: www.nokia.com/nokiasuite
Connect the phone you want to back up to your computer with a USB cable. On your phone, select Nokia Suite (or PC Suite) and then select OK.
In Nokia Suite, click Tools then Backup. Nokia Suite shows you a list of the content types that you can back up and prepares a list of information that can be backed up.
Select the information that you want to back up. If you want to change where the backup file is saved, click Browse and choose another location. If you have a lot of music, photos or videos on your phone, including them in the backup will cause the backup process to be slower.
Click Start to begin backing up. Do not disconnect or switch off your phone during the backup. If you need to stop the backup, click Stop. Nokia Suite will reach a safe stop point and will then stop the backup.
Click Finish to close the window after the backup is complete.
To update your phone software, you can follow the steps below:
In Nokia Suite, select Tools then Software updates. If an update is available for your phone, you can see it here along with any other updates that are available.
Click Install to start the installation. During the installation, Nokia Suite takes you through the following steps:
    Get started
    Back up (recommended)
    Install
    Restore (optional)
    Finish
Please do not disconnect your phone until the installation is completely finished. Doing so might cause damage to your phone or result in its contents being lost.
    Hope this helps.

  • IPhone Issues with USB Connection and Bluetooth in GM cars

I recently purchased a 2009 Chevy Cobalt SS/TC and it has a USB connection for an iPod. Prior to the 2.1 updated the USB connection worked flawless as well did my handsfree/bluetooth. I had the Apple Genius Bar check my iPhone for any issues due to a corrupt update but everything turned up fine. When i connect to my car I receive an error message (iPod Did Not Authenticate. Check iPod Version). Also my bluetooth will sync but when you answer the phone using hands free you get no audio from the iPhone or speakers in the car. I used a friends iPod and everything worked fine but when I connect with a new iPod it displays the same error. I have contacted GM but they said talk to Apple.
If anyone can help please let me know.
    Thanks

    Hey J,
Well you got me thinking about your question, and I guess I didn't get it the first time. Again, I own the same car - 09 Chevy Cobalt SS/TC, Black. A lot of fun! I plugged my iPhone into the radio USB connection and get the same error. The GM radio does not support the iPhone. It will not authenticate. The GM radios' firmware is looking for an iPod, not an iPhone. That is expected. As far as the iPhone and it's Bluetooth, again the iPhone's Bluetooth hands free works fine, except I cannot answer the iPhone during an incoming call without first unlocking the iPhone then pressing the mute button on the steering wheel. For what it's worth the iPhone will charge through the USB connection. I'm a little confused on what you are trying to connect. Bottom line, an iPod should always work, an iPhone, not at all. Lastly, I have purchased the GM Personal Audio Link (PAL) and hope to use it with my iPod so I can put the iPod in the glove compartment. Although I have heard a lot of negative comments and issues with it for being slow and sluggish. If so, I'll be sending it back and I'll stay with the USB connection. I'll let you know how that works.

  • IPod touch stuck on USB connect screen but not recognized by iTunes

I downloaded the update for my iPod via iTunes but when the update attempted to install on the iPod, I received a message that the update failed. Now, my iPod is stuck on the USB connect screen (with the image of a cord below an arrow pointing to the iTunes logo). Every other thread says to connect to iTunes and attempt to reset the device (off and home button for several seconds) so I can restore it through iTunes, but even if I do that, it fails to connect to iTunes. Last time I had problems connecting to iTunes I downloaded the update through the iPod itself but seeing as I can't get off the USB connect screen, downloading it from the iPod is impossible. How can I get my iPod working again? Either getting it off the frozen screen so I can download the update, or getting my computer to recognize it so I can restore? Last time it wouldn't connect to iTunes (when it wasn't frozen) the computer still recognized it but now it does not. (I'm on a Windows 8 laptop)

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Problems with PC Suite 7.1.30.9 USB connection

Ok, So I've been having trouble the last 2 weeks or so getting this to work. I Correctly installed the PC suite 7.1.30.9 on my PC (windows vista home premium 32) some time back. It used to work well with my old N95 8GB, but after I got the N97, for the week it worked fine and would connect in any compatible mode. But then I started getting an error whenever I connected my N97 or my N95 on PC Suite, It could not detect any phone. When I tried adding a phone using PC Suite, the options for what kind of connectivity I would like to select with my phone were not even highlighted and I was getting an error message about infra red and trouble connecting. I re-installed evrything and then started getting this error message "Connected in non compatible mode" even though I had selected PC Suite on either phones. I tried restarting my phones and PC, but still got the same error. I tried uninstalling and re-installing PC Suite, nokia connectivity cable driver, PC connectivity manager and starting again, but still got the same error. I Even tried that again, but with an older version of PC Suite (6.85.12.0) but no luck.
The funny bit is It connects easily with no trouble when I use bluetooth but doesn't work work with the USB cable. I know its not the phone because Niether the N97 nor the N95 work correctly with USB.
Can someone help me, because Bluetooth is way too slow when I'm trying to transfer loads of different data and using my phone as a modem.

  • ITunes sends error message when connecting iPod touch

I have an iPod touch 2nd generation, and I decided to reset it as it was having problems, and now it displays the connect to iTunes message like when I first purchased it. I connected it to iTunes like it wanted, but when I connect the iPod to iTunes, iTunes displays the following error message "iTunes could not connect to the iPod "iPod touch" because an unknown error occurred (0xE000001)". I am not an uninformed person on these matters and have tried everything I can think of i.e. updating iTunes, using a different dock connector etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

    Hi Maxwell,
This is most likely a USB connection issue.
Make sure the iPhone is directly connected to a high-speed USB2 port on the computer, using the cable that came with it.
If the issue persists, try the general tips in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1286

  • I have an iPhone 4 still running 6.1.3 software.  A few days ago it stopped working through my car's USB connection.  How can this be fixed?

I have an iPhone 4 still running 6.1.3 software.  A few days ago it stopped working through my car's USB connection (I have a 2010 Honda Civic Hybrid).  I can no longer control my music through my car's stereo system.  I am unable to choose what song, album, playlist, etc. to be played and cannot skip songs.  When I try to skip, it reverts back to the first song.  When I choose what to be played directly on my phone, it can only be played for about 30 seconds through my car's stereo system before it stops and displays the message "Unsupported Version."  How can this be fixed?  (Also, I know it is my iPhone and not my car because someone I know has the same exact car as me from 2009 and it did the same thing on theirs.)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.  This problem is extremely frustrating and the alternative of trying to change music directly on my phone while driving is a risk I am not willing to consider.  Thanks!
