EA2: Another crash... again
Hi,
Same symptoms as previous reported crashes: switched to IE and came back to find sqldev hanging. There's no deadlock report in my profile, so I post the thread dump:

Thanks,

I've experienced a similar issue while doing data extract. Here are my steps to reproduce:
1. After running query, right click >export data >choose a format (I typically use csv or excel, but I'm sure any will work)
2. select the location you wish to save to and initiate the export process.
3. Minimize the window (this is where I believe the problem lies).
If you minimize the sqldeveloper window while it is in action, it never comes back. If you don't minimize (even if you go to another window), the program usually survives and finishes successfully.
My environment details: WinXP SP2, fully patched except for this week's. Please let me know if I may provide additional information.

Another crash problem with Adobe Premiere Elements 4
another crash question! burned a dvd of project, saw something i needed to change as i watched the dvd, tried to get back into project, but crashed time and time again. have tried any and all suggestions in the forum for other crash problems, but cannot fix. can anyone help? below is error message and my equipment. using Windows Vista. I want to go back to Windows XP, never had a problem. thanks to anyone who has an idea.

You can also try working through Adobe's troubleshooting steps:

Renaming the presets folder can help. (The program will automatically make a new one when you next launch it):

My Ipod Touch 4th generation (8gb, iOS 5.1) crashes for no apparent reason. There is no rhyme or reason to when the crash occurs.
Once it crashes, the only way to reboot the iPod is to connect it to an external power source (computer or AC outlet). Once connected, it will reboot and operate normally.
When disconnected from the power source, it will operate for a variable periods of time (maybe minutes, maybe hours) then crash again. It can't be rebooted until again attached to an external power source.
Has anyone experienced a similar situation? Thanks for your help.....I hate to let you down. I live a long way from any Apple store, so I returned the iPod to the seller. I really don't know if I'll buy another.
I know it's probably an isolated incident, but this kind of experience leaves a bad taste in your mouth. -

Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a Clean reinstall. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from mozilla.org (or choose the download for your operating system and language from this page) and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (or open the Firefox menu and click the close button ).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
#*Windows:
#**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
#**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*Mac: Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*Linux: If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Installing Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found here.

Windows 7, firefox 1.6.16 just installed office 2010, sometimes cannot open a link in outlook and firefox is my default browser, and firefox will not initiate at all. Have to restart computer to get any response which then works but after a while it crashes again. Was this due to an update or office 2010 has a hidden setting somewhere? Why would firefox crash without any message? Intimated consuming
I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6. -
Will my drive crash again?
I recently had a complete collapse of my 12" Powerbook's filesystem, although the Genius bar said the hardware was fine. They got my data back, then I erased and reinsalled OS X. Now I see the following entries in my system log:
kernel[0]: jnl: writejournalheader: error writing the journal header!
Do entries like these predict another file system collapse?Update: the drive did indeed crash again. Turned out to be a hardware failure of the disk itself. The system has been in the shop for a week waiting for a new part.

Mail yosemite crashed - worked - and crashed again...
I had huge problems with my mail chrashing suddenly since update Yosemite on my iMac. Reading all sorts of forums, took some tips on deleting some files in the library and starting mail up in safe mode. Finally, mail opened, but my mail was offline and could not be sent.
Then I threw away all my accounts and reinstalled them... this worked for a week, everything was fine, and now today suddenly it crashed again...
I'm getting really tired of this... Can Apple please fix this or has anyone got a solution????

I have a hotmail and another IMAP account installed...Back up all date before proceeding.
Quit Mail if it's running.
Please triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
open Library/Mail/V2/*/.OfflineCache
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing the key combination command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
One or more folders, each named ".OfflineCache", should open. In each one, there should be a file named "operations". Move each such file to the Trash.
Relaunch Mail and test.

I have repeatedly clicked repair just to have it reopen and then crash again.

MacBook Hard Drive crashed again and again
I've been quite annoyed by this. Firstly, I've read about the MacBook original hard drive that may crash after a while, which happened to mine. I've since changed 4 more hard drives! Firstly, I replaced the original HD (Toshiba), to Seagate, which crashed again. Then I've changed to Samsung 80GB and then decided to upgrade to 160GB, which crashed again!!!
There was no warning at all. It's like I was using my MacBook today and tomorrow when I want to start it up, the HD would just crash. Anyone has any idea what could be the problems that are causing this? I think maybe it's more than the HD itself.
Please help.Although it appears that I have copied everything into the music folder of my new hard drive
You need to have backed up the entire library, including the iTunes database files, to do that. If you only backed up the songs and other content displayed in iTunes, drag it into the open iTunes window instead of restoring it through the Finder; playlists and other metadata won't be preserved, as those are in the iTunes database files.

hi, my iPhone5s is only 3 months old, it has been like a whole month now since it started crashing, displaying the blue screen of death, since yesterday it was in the loop of restart-crash, and now it is stuck in recovery mode after lots of times displaying blue screen.
I cannot restore it as phone continues crashing again with blue screen, when iTunes displays error 14 on verification.
help please, this phone is all the means of communication I have. It's a hardware problem. That's it. You shouldn't bother yourself with this situation. Just see an AASP.

Another crash when trying to wake from sleep question ?
I've been reading the other topics about the sleep crash but my problem is slightly different.
Here's the situation when the crash has occurred twice:
I get home from work and start up the computer (It’s at the log-in screen). I walk off
Make a drink use the head whatever and come back to a black screen and the sleep light doing its thing. I hit the space bar to wake the computer the screen stays black and the fans come on high speed. I have to do a hard shut down to stop it. When I restart and log in everything is fine. When it sleeps while I’m logged in it wakes normally. So my problem (not sure if its really a problem) is if I let the computer go to sleep from the login screen is crashes. Anything I should do besides not letting it sleep from the login screen? Thanks in advance for any help.
iBook G4 12" 1.33GHz/iMac G5 20" 2.1GHz 1GB/PowerBook G4 17 Mac OS X (10.4.5)Yes, from what you describe, it is a problem.
No problems with "sleep mode" on this end. Are you experiencing any other oddities with your system besides waking from sleep?
Possible problem areas:
Simple things first - in your User Library/Preferences, move com.apple.loginwindow.plist to your desktop. Log-out, log-in, log-out and try sleep. If it crashes again, see below.
directory corruption - have you verified the condition of your Hard Disk using Disk Utility? (you can do this without having to boot your Installer DVD). Just go to Disk Utility, select your Hard Drive, go to the First Aid panel, and select "verify disk". If there is a problem, you'll need to boot the Installer DVD, select Disk Utility from the Installer menu and run the same test as above, except this time select "repair disk". Keep running the repair until you get a clean run.
Hardware: Sometimes hardware problems can create operational problems. My hunch is this is not what's at play here, however, never hurts to check.
From your Installer DVD you can run Apple's Hardware Test. Boot the DVD holding down the option key. Release the option key when Icons start to appear. Eventually, you'll see the Hardware Test icon. Click on it, then click Next. A panel will appear explaining the Test. Select the "quick test" first. It will probably take about 10 - 20 minutes. Post back if it shows any problem with hardware, including RAM chips.

I just download and install itunes 10.5 and it worked good the first days but since yesterday it crashed up, and everytime i start it it crashes again and logged me out each time. it can´t acces my itunes account. I´m using snow leopard the last version. What can i do to solve this problem and and continue using my itunes normally?
Try doing it in a WIndows Safe mode - Restart computer and hit F8 key right after your see BIOS check and choose "Safe mode with networking"
Do the SFC /SCANNOW again.
If that does not work, whilst in safe mode, download Free Malwarebyte software from CNET's Download.com. Install, update virus definition then perform a full scan. Remove if it did find some viruses or trojans. Restart computer.
Back to regular windows, do the SFC /SCANNOW again.
If that doesnot work, check to see if your Hard drive has errors or bad sectors
GO START BUTTON /COMPUTER, right mouse click OS (C:) and choose "Properties"
Choose "Tools" tab and under error checking, click "Check Now".
Make sure "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors" is checked and click start.
Restart windows will perform the above task to fix errors This may take hours depends on how big is your Hard Drive

I want to cut out a head from a photo and insert it into another photo again. In the head hair flying in the wind and the blue sky can be seen between the hairs. This blue sky I want to remove, so I can only use the head with hair flying in another photo. Is it possible to simply delete this blue color of the sky?
Make your selection and then use Refine Edge.

Compressor 4 crashes on opening keep getting this warning: The application “Compressor” unexpectedly quit while trying to restore its windows. Do you want to try to restore its windows again? Tried Restoring windows. It crashes again. Tried not = Same result. This is the first time I've actually used the app although I purchased it back in April (I think). I had my first longform project completed in FCPX and tried sending it to Compressor 4 and got this result over and over again.
Steve,
Sorry to say I've not had any success in getting Compressor 4 to work. I've tried every suggestion mentioned earlier on this topic to no avail. Compressor 4 is dead in the water. On the last two projects I had to go back to Compressor 3.x.xx to complete the projects. The only hint that I have of wha may have happened concerns something I did early on. When I bought this computer I decided to replace the hard drive with a larger one. Since I already had my software up and working on the drive that came with the computer I decided to clone everything to the new larger drive. As I recall, Compressor 4 worked on the original drive but it doesn't work on this cloned version. So maybe there is a relationship there. I haven't had a chance yet to reinstall my old drive and see if C 4 works on it. If it does work then I know the source of the problem but not how to fix it on the new drive. Did you do anything like cloning your drive recently too? It's just a thought and may not lead anywhere but later this week when I catch a break I'll give the old drive a try and will post my results.
Thanks,
Peter
