ECC 6 system refresh

Hi all
I am trying to do the system refresh of ECC 6 for the first time. The database part is done and database is up and running but the CI dies after sometime stating that the J2EE status info unavilable.
When I dig deep in it it feels like something is wrong with the SAPUSER table in the database thats having the sapecc user and the password for it. I did the R3TRANS -X and it created the log file that tells me that its not able to connect to the database.
Can anyone tell me the correct way to do the system refresh or how can I rectify this issue now.
Thanks in advance.

I am trying to do the system refresh since the last 5 days and I am not able to do it.  Here is what I did last night:
1) I restored the backup of the target server and make sure that everything is working the way its supposed to work before the refresh.
2) I exported SAPUSER table and other users who are database owners.
3) I refreshed the database of the target server with source server.
4) Bring up the Oracle database.
5) Imported the users and tables.
6) Now I dont see problem with the SAPUSER table but still I am not able to start the CI. When I execute the R3trans -X following is the log file generated. I am running ECC 6 with Oracle 10 G with ABAP and Java.
Thanks for all your help.

  • ECC System Refresh  - impacts IDOC connections to PI

    All,
Whenever we refresh ECC QA system with prod, we have to do all the ale/IDOC settings all over again in ECC QA to connect to QA PI.
Can you please list the tables that are used for We20, We21, BD64, SM59 so that BASIS can take a backup of these tables before refresh and apply the backup once the system refresh is complete.
    Thanks.

  • System Refresh for  ECC & PI in Oracle MCOD database

    Hi All,
We are running our ECC system on linux and oracle. Our ECC Development system and PI Develeopment system is running on one box and on the same database (MCOD).  The same is with the ECC production and PI production running on the same system and same database (MCOD).
Now our requirement is to refresh the ECC development system from ECC PRD system. But we don't want to do any changes in PI system. One option is that we can export the DEV Pi schema by running SAPINST and than refresh the ECC DEV system with ECC PRD system.
After this we will install fresh PI where it will ask for DB export we will give the path of the PI export which we have taken. But i am not sure this is possible or not. Is this possible??
Or Is there any other easy possible ways to do it?
    Thanks,
    Bhanu

This is one big drawback of MCOD, you will always copy all. What makes things even more difficult is the fact, that a PI is basically an MCOD itself - it's ABAP + Java - which must both be copied. So you would need
    - export the full PI system (ABAP + Java) - which is a homogeneous system copy Part I
    - copy the database
    - fiddle on database level to delete both PI schemas (ABAP + Java)
    - install a new PI as homogeneous system copy Part II
Technically it's feasible but I wonder, that if you already try to separate the instances, why not install a second ORACLE_HOME on the QA (and later also on PRD) so you can in the future copy the system independently from each other?

  • Post system refresh, "Request IDoc : IDoc with errors added"

    Hello All,
Post system refresh, we are not able to execute the data loads.
While loading the Infopackage, the overall status is still showing in YELLOW status. but in the Transfer (IDOCs & TRFC), it shows an Error message as "Request IDoc : IDoc with errors added"
Yesterday immediately after the refresh, we were able to execute the master data loads (full loads)...
However, transaction loads (delta) is facing issues.
Today, we are facing the problem in both master and transaction data.
Please help!!!! Its a very critical issue!!!

    Oracle ( 9.2.0.8.0)
I have one doubt should we use SAPinst for export/import procedure or backup restore from our production server to dev server
    regards
    Shishir

    Hi Shishir,
I have one doubt should we use SAPinst for export/import procedure or backup restore from our production server to dev server
DEV System is your original System never refresh DEV System with Production. It is recommended to do System refresh on QA system or any other stand alone system (Test System).
    Also see the below points.
    1. If you have large database then use the backup restore process. this will help you to reduce your downtime.
    2. You can go for the export/import process i.e R3load using SAPinst.
For more information see the system copy guide as suggested earlier.
    Thanks,
    Shambo

    Thanks a lot in advance.

    Hi Satya,
Thank you for the reply. QA in our landsacpe was in use since 2008. Serveral times system refresh is carried out on our QA with production data but never came accross this issue.
Usually if the SAPINST.exe run is successfull, temperory licence will be installed and we will be allowed to login into the sytem with our user names normally and carry out post installation steps.
As the SAPISNT.exe is being terminated, temperory license is not being installed and we got to work around by including parameter to allow default sap* userid and password to login and install license and carry on with the post installation steps. To be frank this issue is not really a show stopper, but there seems to be an issue that is to be resolved.
    Thank you,
    Kind Regards,

  • System Refresh from FI to HR Data

    Hi All,
We are planning to conduct a system refresh in our Sandbox system. But here's the twist, our sandbox is currently an FI system (containing MM/SD/PS/FI module) and we want it to be refreshed with data from our HR production server. Is this possible? If we perform this scenario, what are the things we need to consider in performing the refresh?
Please note that we dont want to perform a fresh installation in sandbox for HR due to limited time, instead we are looking into the possibility of system refresh.
Here's the specs of our two servers.
    Sandbox
    Operating system     HP-UX
    Component version    SAP ECC 6.0
    Database system      ORACLE
    Kernel release    700
    Operating System   HP-UX B.11
    OP release         B.11.23
    HR PROD
    Operating system     HP-UX
    Component version    SAP ECC 6.0
    Database system      ORACLE
    Kernel release    700
    Operating System   HP-UX B.11
    OP release         B.11.11
Hope you can help me guys on my query.
    Thanks!

  • System refresh in HANA (Side-car)

    Hi Experts,
I have some queries around system refresh in HANA.
I have a side-car implementation of HANA. Data is replicated by SLT from ECC to HANA.
Question is - Can we directly perform a system refresh from prod HANA to Quality HANA box?
or we can only have below option:
Refresh prod ECC to Quality ECC & reload all the tables again from quality ECC to quality HANA?
I am particularly interested to have answers/thoughts  on  -- "Can we directly perform a system refresh from prod HANA to Quality HANA box?"
I have not heard of this approach so far.
I know the other option - "Refresh prod ECC to Quality ECC & reload all the tables again from quality ECC to quality HANA?" is feasible.
    quick response is much appreciated.
    Best Regards
    Sachin Bhatt

Sorry I thought it was clear, let me explain.
HANA with SLT, is a replica copy of ECC tables. If you copy HANA Prod back to QA then SLT will no longer be operational.
You could re-enable SLT but you would have to re-initiate replication which would wipe out all the HANA tables, thereby making your system copy worthless.
If you don't re-enable SLT then you won't be able to do any testing or any table changes into QA.
So really there is no choice, you need to copy ERP Prod and HANA Prod, or just copy ERP Prod and re-initiate replication.

  • Post System Refresh Activity

    Hi All,
I did system refresh ( from PRD to QAS , platform Windows 2008 R2 and MSsql) the system was up and running fine. The system was absolutely fine  for one day and the day after the DB crashed , not sure what happened, is there a way i can find the logs through which i can come to know what exactly happened. Also post refresh when i was trying to run BDLS , the job was getting cancelled , the job log showed there is another conversion already running , when i checked the tables the conversion had already happened . Please tell me can running BDLS which cancelled many times could be the cause for the DB crash, if yes where can i find the logs for this , if not what else could have happened that the DB crashed . Thanks for your responses in advance.
    Regards
    Mrigank Aditya

    Hi Nainesh,
Thanks for the message , yes system is up and running fine , the DB team did a restore of Production data  on Quality again , and i did the post refresh activities again , the issue what had happened last time was we were doing simultaneous refresh of two systems at a time , BI prod to BI qas and ECC prd to ECC qas , we had found a list of tables in BDLS which gets updated when we run BDLS and we run those tables only , unfortunately the files got exchanged , the ECC tables should have run on ECC machine and BI tables should have run on BI machine which didn't happen and it happened the other way round BI tables where run on ECC machine , due to which BDLS failed and the job got cancelled many times, which impacted the whole system conversion and logical update , which crashed the DB( i exactly don't know the reason what happened internally , still searching for it ) . At present the machine is up and running fine.

  • System Refresh with HANA & HANA live (side-car) data

In a scenario where HANA live co-exists with HANA DB (aka side-car approach), trying to understand the impact of system refreshes to HANA Live content. Is there a method to choose only HANA DB specific data for the refresh i.e. excluding HANA Live data?  If we use the backup/restore method to refresh QA from PROD  it will bring Prod data over for HANA Live too.  Is there a way to export QA HANA Live data prior to the refresh and re-import it post DB refresh?

Sorry I thought it was clear, let me explain.
HANA with SLT, is a replica copy of ECC tables. If you copy HANA Prod back to QA then SLT will no longer be operational.
You could re-enable SLT but you would have to re-initiate replication which would wipe out all the HANA tables, thereby making your system copy worthless.
If you don't re-enable SLT then you won't be able to do any testing or any table changes into QA.
So really there is no choice, you need to copy ERP Prod and HANA Prod, or just copy ERP Prod and re-initiate replication.

  • Activites after source system refresh

    Hi all,
we made source system refresh recently.
When iam running INIT I am not able to get the data ,but in rsa3 data it is available
Now  I am not able to retrive the data from source system for SD data sources like 2LIS_02_ITM.
Can any one tell me what type of activities i need to do after source system refresh for LO data sources.
    Thank
    Pruthvi

    Hi Pruthvi,
As you mentioned about refresh, it would be a system other than Production system.
    Delta Loads:
    1. Whenever a refresh happens from the production, the delta pointers are disturbed.
    2. You need to re initialize the delta pointer for the DS you mentioned.
    3. If it is for the testing purpose of the Delta functionality, you may intialize the delta pointer 1st and then ask for postings of data in the ECC side.
    4. Once the postings are done, you would see data in Delta Queue in RSA7 in source system.
    5. Now run the Delta InfoPackage so as to fetch this data from the Delta Q of SS to the BW system.
    Full Loads
    1. If you are expecting a full load (Historical data), you need to first fill the Setup tables (in Background only) in the SS.
    2. Once the Setup table fill job is completed in SS, you may execute a Full InfoPackage in order to get this full load.
Let me know if this helps..
    -Bhushan.

  • Reg System refresh

    Dear Friends,
I have planning to Change my PRD server. We bought new one server. Now i have plan to will do the system refresh. What are the steps are there in SAP system Refresh.
    1. What can i do?
    2. How many days will take?
    SAP Version - ECC 6.0
DB   - MS -SQL Server 2005
    OS - Windows 2003 Server
    Physical memory is - 8GB, Swap is - 24GB
DB Size is -  210 GB
    Regards
    keshav

    Hi,
To be on the safer Side Just install the New system as you installed the Old PRD keeping in mind that the OSlevel  the patch level and the Sap release should be same .
Once the installation Completes.you should go with the System Refresh.
Now here are the answer of your Question.
To install New PRD system it shall take 24 hour (appox).Once the base installation is completed you can go with the system Refresh.
Offline Backup will take 2 to 3 hours.(Number of hours depends on many more things).
If you have ABAP+JAVA then you beed to take the Java Export After the Backup.(1 hour)
Then you need to get the backup restored on the New Server(2 to 3 hours)
Then run Sapinst Import.(10 to 11 hours).
Post Refresh steps depends on the landscape configuration you have.
    Thanks Rishi Abrol

  • No infopackages after system refresh.

    Hello,
We have recently completed a system refresh from our BI production system to our BI training system for the first time.
Our customer then wanted us to link our refreshed BI training system to our pre-production ECC system. After some initial issues setting up the connections between the two systems we finally got a successful test connection in RSA1 from our BI training system to our ECC pre-prod system. We had our BI functional team test, they told us that they do not see any of the infopackages and that transfer rules for loading hierarchies from our ECC pre-prod system are missing. Does anyone know how this could happen and what we can do to resolve/get the infopackages into our training system ?
We are on BI 7.0 and ECC 5.0
    Solaris OS
    Oracle DB
    Thank you,
    Steve

    Hi Steve,
I would assume you deleted the sourcesystems, as adivised by the system copy note (886102). When you delete the sourcesystems, all its dependant objects are deleted too (like the infopackages, for example).
You can get them via transport, as suggested in the scenario B3, from that same note.
