Echoing and screeching from speakers

Ever since i updated to windows 8.1 on my HP Envy 20 d010, my sound quality is just awful. There is virturally no bass anymore and it always echoes, if the volume gets turned up above 26 it screeches and rings when sound is playing. I have already tried reinstalling the IDT audio drivers and it didn't make a difference. Could someone please help?

Hello @AyyitsAndrew,

  • Popping, echoes, and sn

I just got an Xfi Xtreme Music Card on my new PC I bought. I keep getting horrible pops, snaps, echoes, and screeches out of my card while playing World of Warcraft. Anyone know anything I can do to solve this. I have tried driver updates and everything but it just wont stop. Thanks for any help.

I have 2 EVGA 7900 GTO cards and it does not matter if you run SLI or not. What I did notice is that when in SLI the X-fi does not share the same IRQ. But when you go back to just a single card it does. No matter what I do I still get all those wonderful sounds from my X-fi. I even swapped the card into my other system which is a Core2 Duo 2.4 on a Intel board and still get all those SCP sounds.
So please fix this Cl and do not blame all the other companies since it's not a Nforce4 problem or even an Intel chip it's Cl's.

  • No sound from HP G62 laptop and can no longer get sound from speakers or headphone jack . USB sworks

have an HP G62 laptop.  I can no longer receive sound from speakers or from headphone jack.  If I plug speakers into usb - I will get sound.  Any ideas?

I don't think I have anything to offer that you haven't done. In Device Manager, Device status says "working properly" and you've reinstalled this driver.
Realtek Audio Driver for Windows XP
    Right?
The only other thing I know to do is restore the hard drive to its original factory fresh contents.

  • High pitch whine noise from speakers and other issues

I just got a 2010 Mac Mini and transferred all of my data and apps and accessories from my old Mac Mini which was running 10.6.4 (2007 I think). One of the accessories is a Griffin Firewave. I had to get a new firewire cable to attach the Firewave since the new Mac Mini has a firewire 800 port. On the old Mac it worked great, I was able to run 5.1 speakers with no problem. With the new Mac things aren't so nice. I get a high pitch whine through the speakers. The whine will go up and down in volume with the volume control on my sound system (Klipsch Promedia 5.1 Ultra) as well as with the Mac volume control. I can increase the gain in the Firewave app which will increase the volume of what I want to hear without increasing the volume of the whine, however it will cause the audio I want to hear to distort. The other issue I have is that when I put the Mac to sleep it seems to cut all power to the firewire port, causing the Firewave to turn off and lose its settings. I believe this to be a bad design on the Firewave's part but the old Mac did not shut off the power to the firewire port when going to sleep so this was not an issue. So my questions are, does anyone else have problems with external sound cards having a high pitch whine noise and is there a way to prevent the firewire port from turning off when the Mac sleeps?
BTW, I have tried reinstalling the Firewave driver (several times) and I've unplugged and re-plugged the firewire cable at both ends. I have both the Mac and the sound system plugged into a line conditioner so I doubt it's dirty power. I do realize that the Firewave only claims support up to 10.5 but it was working without issue on the old Mac Mini on 10.6

I have the same problem. I have an early 2009 Mac mini and get the whiny noise from my powered speakers. The volume of the whine noise tends to change smoothly up or down, and often does a stuttering effect along with it. It stays there for up to a minute or so and then eventually goes away. It always seems to happen at random times.
I've heard this same sound effect coming from a podcast that I was listening to on my iPod Touch. It seems that the interviewer was recording from a Mac mini as well, though not sure. The sound in the recording was exactly like what I hear coming from my Mac mini. I often thought that this was a problem with my speaker system, but was surprised to find that others are experiencing the same kind of issues.

  • Audigy 2 zs - moved pc from one room to another and now no sound from speakers (headphones

    As the title says,
I just completed moving my pc from one room to another. Low and behold I get no sound from speakers (just some stereo speakers with powered sub). I do get audio out of the headphones (fully disconnect headphones from front panel when attempting to get sound from speakers). I know this probably points to a faulty speaker setup but that's pretty straight forward and looks to be fine.
Anyone encounter this problem before or have any suggestions?
    Thanks!

Mr. Jefferson, Thanks for the quick response!
A mystery!  Usually, it's easiest to have FiOS patched into your home's cable TV wiring, so I'm curious why you don't have a coax router that provides you with the ethernet (internet) jacks.  Some questions:
Do you watch TV from some other source (like satellite or cable TV) but are using FiOS only for Internet?
I have both fios tv and internet
You said 2 cables are going from your router to a box in the wall.  What are the 2 ports labeled on the router?
One of them is just the main "internet" port I guess you could say while the other is just one of the ports labeled 1-4 (plugged into #2 I believe)
Is there any labeling on the jacks on the wall box?  On the other box in your room?
On the wall box in this room theres labeling on the jacks on the wall box that says IN and OUT (in marker), while in my room there's the same box but with only ONE, unlabeled jack (I think there's supposed to be another jack but it seems to be closed/sealed off)
Do you know where the Internet jacks connect to? Like a patch panel or box somewhere in your garage or near where your FiOS/cable tv/phone service is?  Somewhere these cables have to terminate.
I believe they somehow connect to this box in my garage (did some research and I believe it's called the ONT? and there's another box below it which I believe is the battery)
    Hope this info helps!

  • No sound from Front and Rear Center Speakers

    Hi all,
I have a Creative 6.1 6700 speaker set + Creative Sound blaster Audigy 2 ZS.
Recently I have noticed that I am not getting any sound from my Front and Rear center speakers. The sound is being diverted to the sub woofer. Wehn i run checks the sound comes from the sub woofer rather then the speaker. I have checked all connection and checked all wiring. All Speaker are working fine and none is dead.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and then application but still no good. I am unable to figure out why this might be happening. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Also any idea why does the creative driver keep on crashing. It is one of the most unstable driver that I have seen. I have the latest driver and usually keep it up to date but still it does keeps on giving problems regularly.
I have to say that till now the creative product has been a headache for me but I would have to make do with what I have. So all help needed here really.
    Regards,
    Amit

    Hi Guys,
I would really appreciate if somebody could reply to my query. Its been very frustating here.
In the meanwhile I have done the following troubleshooting more :
    1) Took a head set and connected to all ports at the back of the sound card. Sound is coming from there.
    2) Went ahead and removed the creative drive and the application.
    3) did a search in the registry with the keyword as "Creative". Removed all entries that were found.
    4) Reinstaled the latest drivers and the application.
    5) Tried he card ina different PCI slot.
But everything has been to no avail. There is still no sound from the rear and front center speakers. Its really driving me nuts.
It seems as if the souncard is passing the signal to the sub woofer but it is not directing it to both these channels.
Any help would be deeply appreciated.
    Regards,
    Amit

  • Strange problem and clicking sound from speakers!

I have problem with sound but this is strange one and i can't find solution anywhere... I am pretty good with computers and i usualy find solutions on internet when i have problem but this is something i can't solve by myself... My laptop is HP 355 G2 and i have Windows 10 installed on it but the same problem was on Windows 8.1 too... So after clean installation of Win10 the sound was good and worked normaly for 2-3 days and now i only hear a clicking sound from speakers when audio is playing but the strange thing is that when i pick up laptop from the table the sound start to work for few seconds and then the clicking sound comes back again, so i suspect that this has something to do with accelerometer which is built  in laptop for hard disc parking in case of drop or something like that... I tryed to uninstal/disable driver for accelerometer but windows install it again emidiatly after reboot, i tryed clean install few times and problem apears again and again... I just don't know anymore what to try to do in order to solve this so if anyone know anything about this please help... And i forgot to say that headphone jack work normaly and when i plug the headphones or external speakers in headphones jack the sound works but the clicking sound still comes out from built  in speakers... Thanks in advance and sorry for my English, it is not my native language and there is no support forums on my native language witch is Serbian...

So i tried few more things like disable/enable sound card, driver reinstalation, bitrate changing and everything elese i could find here on forums or on the net (pretty much same stuff like here could be find on internet) and strange thing is that no one have same or similar problem like me... i just don't know anymore what to do...

  • HT4623 Hi I have just updated ipad to latest software and since then I can't get any sound from speakers only ear socket or FaceTime works fine any ideas thanks Mark

NO sound from speakers after update only headphone jack works, speakers work on FaceTime
    many thanks Mark

Reboot the iPad and see if that helps.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Suddenly no sound from speakers and only from headphones

    Hello,
    I have a HP 8440p VQ664ET#ABU Elitebook laptop running Windows7 64bit pro.
Since today I'm experiencing the following problem:
    1) no sound is heard through speakers when headphones are disconnected.
    2) If I connect the headphones, the sounds are heard correctly through them: this is the expected behavior
I don't think it's a speakers hardware problem because I can make the speakers play sounds for one or two seconds like this: while a sound is being played, such as music file for instance, if I move up and down the headset volume cursor (regardless if headphones are connected or not) I can hear the played sound through the laptop speakers for a few seconds, after which the speakers mute again.
    So to summarize:
    1) Headphones disconnected: no sound from speakers
    2) Headphones connected: sound from headphones
I rebooted, suspended and restored without any luck so far.
I'm under the impression that there might be a problem with the headphone jack: it is like the laptop always thinks that the headphones are connected and therefore cuts the output to the speakers.
    Any clues?
    Thanks
    Sergio

Try installing the sound drivers from the following weblink:

  • I HAVE A ECHO SOUND COMING FROM MICROPHONE CONSTANTLY

I have a constant echo sound coming from my computer

Earlier this week I right clicked the speaker icon located at the bottom right corner of my desktop's taskbar. I clicked on recording devices and double clicked the stereo mix chip-looking icon. Under the listen tab, I unchecked the box that said listen to this device. The sound and smell stopped, but my speaker volume is now irreparably low even though the volume is turned all the way up.  Any suggestions other than buying external speakers/headphones?

  • Problem with Adobe Audition 2.0 and recording from a 1212m.

I bought a brand new machine and have be configuring it all week. Everything has been going well, except getting Adobe Audition 2.0 (the new version) to “hear” sound from the 1212m.
The intel 975 motherboard has an integrated HD sound system already on board and I have been able to get adobe audition to recognize it and record from it. This is what I have Windows XP Pro set to as my default sound card.
I installed the 1212m and I have gotten my monitors to work by using the XLR jacks on the monitors to the ¼ inch jacks on the 1212m using a VST (NI’s Kontakt 2) as the audio source. So it works.
What I can’t seem to get to work is getting Adobe Audition to “hear” the sound coming from the 1212m.
Patchmix seems to be working ok. The audio bars jump each time I hit a note on the keyboard.
I have configured Audition by going to Audio Hardware Setup and setting it to EMU ASIO and tried every combination of INPUT and OUTPUT, but when I hit the Record button in Audition it just flat lines..
I was hoping that once the audio made it from the VST though the 1212m and out to the speakers, that getting Audition to record it would be easy, but that hasn’t been the case.
The Intel 955 Extreme Edition and the 975 motherboard are brand new and I’m worried that being on the bleeding edge of technology, that one of the drivers isn’t working correctly and causing me hours of debugging a problem that is unworkable from my end.
Hopefully the problem is just some small stupid thing that I’m doing or failing to do (like normal).
    Any ideas would be helpful.
    thanks

I'm just saving it into a file in "My documents" on the internal hard drive. It's a computer in the office which has been used my other people before me and I have my own file which I was always able to save Adobe sound files into before, so I don't think it's anything to do with me not being allowed or read-only.
I've also been trying to save it onto USB hard drives. This works when I save it under a different name, but not when I'm just trying to update a file i've been working on. Basically I have to create a new file everytime I add something, so like "myaudit1", "myaudit2", "myaudit3" etc etc, even though it's the same piece of work just updated.
    Hope that makes sense!

  • Help. I have a Google Hangout in 40mins and my sound seems to have vanished. I went to Sys Prefs and it came up with Digital Out....and the Internal Speakers option is no longer there. How do I reboot, or fix this please?

help. I have a Google Hangout in 40mins and my sound seems to have vanished. I went to Sys Prefs and it came up with Digital Out....and the Internal Speakers option is no longer there. How do I reboot, or fix this please?

There are many possible causes for this issue. Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Some may not apply to your model. Back up all data before making any changes.
    1. Start with the steps recommended in this support article. Don't skip any of the steps. It's the starting point for further efforts to solve the problem.
    2. Make sure you have a fully up-to-date installation of OS X.
    3. If you've installed an application called "Memory Clean" or any other third-party software that is supposed to "clean" or "purge" memory automatically, remove it according to the developer's instructions and restart. You should do that even if the software is not causing the problem, because it's useless.
    4. Other third-party software that has been reported to interfere with sound output includes "Boom" and "Samsung Kies." If applicable, uninstall according to the developer's instructions (not by dragging something to the Trash.)
    5. If an AirPlay device is selected for sound output from iTunes (or from other applications via third-party software such as "Airfoil"), deselect it.
    6. Launch the application "Audio MIDI Setup" by entering the first few letters of its name in a Spotlight search and selecting it in the results (it should be at the top.) Select Built-in Output from the list on the left. If the Mute boxes are checked, uncheck them.
    7. If a red light is visible in the audio-out port when sound should be playing, the internal switch is stuck in the position for digital output. You may be able to free it by inserting and removing a mini-stereo jack of the proper size. If not, the machine needs to be serviced. Inserting any kind of tool in the port may cause damage that won't be covered by the warranty.
If there's no red light, the switch may still be stuck in the headphone position. Try to free it the same way.
    8. Disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard and mouse, if applicable. If more than one display is connected, disconnect all extra ones. Restart and test.
    9. If you have a MacBook Air, turn off Bluetooth and restart.
    10. Start up in safe mode. Don't log in; just restart as usual when the login screen appears. When you do, make sure the words "Safe Boot" do not appear in the login screen. If they do, the system is still in safe mode and sound won't work.
    11. Reset the NVRAM.
    12. Reset the SMC.
    13. Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Preferences/Audio
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Recreate your settings in the Sound preference pane.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    14. Reinstall OS X after backing up all data.
    15. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store.

  • Audigty 2 and XP SP3 and 5.1 speakers

Ok, just a little info first. I have a Dell XPS Gen2 PC (2003), XP SP3 32bit, with a Dell supplied Audigty 2 card, ATI Video card 9600. I have finaly ended up get it working by cleaning all creative software form my PC and installing only the SBAX_WBUP2_LB_2_09_006.exe file.
That gave me one icon (Creative Audio Console) that i can adjust things in like speakers selection, EAX, CMSS, etc. But i have no way to adjust the 5. speakers, like the front center or the subwofer. Do i need to install any thing else or should i have installed something else first. Please help with this install question if you have figuired it out.
    Now for my long story
Things were fine for years then after some windows update the volume would change to match the master volume in WPM if you used the seek bar in WMP0. If you then clicked on the WMP volume adjust it would go back to the scaled volume, this would happen over and over again and was annoying. So the fix was (per microsoft) to update the driver. After i updated the driver everything seem OK no more volume problem, BUT in time i learned i had a different problem with the newer drivers, static in the speakers at random times for no reason. Pop and clicks. Again very annoying
No mater what i tried, it was either the old drivers from the CD with the volume problem or the new driver with pop and clicks. So i came here to fine out what to do. All that you get here is a bunch of people like me with stories about how F$%^up this POS SB Software is and no one can tell you the correct order, files?or method to install drivers correctly today (2009), because it works differently for everyone and if you are lucky, you can get back to normal some how with a dri've cleaning and reinstall of your choice of a "guess" of what will work for you. The FQA's are a joke and NO one from Creative seems to have posted anything that i can find to help people know there are doing the install correctly. Some files are dri'ves only others inculde a console, none inculded the orginial software that was on the CD. Some driver will let you think that they will work with the software from the CD but that has never worked even on XP for any of the current drivers or the betas. Many of the updates required software be installed before you run them, BUT the software from the CD is not at a high enough revision for it to run. I have knocked my head on the wall to many times at this point and have no clue anymore. I am a PC GURU but not anymore.
After about 60 hours and close to 00 reboots, and many uninstalls and system cleanups, trying many different sets of files and such, it is clear that it would be cheaper to go buy a different sound card.
I can clean my system of all creative driver and software and install from the CD no problem except the volume problem in WMP and have many nice little apps that help me adjust my sound. If i then install any of the newest drivers i have no sound and almost all the apps from the CD no longer work.
If i install just the newer drivers without any CD software?they don't even work with my card and i have no speaker or volume control at all (all grayed out in control panel) and no creative icons in the strat menu.
I seem to remember that one time i installed all from the CD and then updated to the SBAX_WBUP2_LB_2_09_006.exe , and i still had sound, some of the CD apps still worked but some didnt BUT i had the pops and clicks problem. But the last time i tried it nothing worked.
Please post what files and in what order you installed you Audigty 2 software on your XP 32bit system

Re: Audigty 2 and XP SP3 and 5. speakersP Thank you so much, your link to Daniel's dirver pack was just what i was looking for. He should be working for Creative as that is just what has been missing. I did not know where to get all though apps and auto update did not show them to me either. This is better then what i had before.
Now time will tell if i get the static, pop and click problem with these but right now i love them.
I really think it sounds better then they every did.
Now we talking, cooking with gas and lisening to the Blues
Big Thanks to you and great big thanks to Daniel_K for the driver pack
