Eclipse: Jumping Back and Forth

I often use the built-in <F3> shortcut to jump to a method or class definition, which is a useful feature.
Then I want to jump back to where I just came from. Is there a way to do that?
Thanks,
John

I don't know of a hotkey (doesn't mean there isn't one) but there are little yellow arrows on the toolbar to do this.

  • Is it better to use just one project or to jump back and forth?

    Greetings,
    I am using Captivate 4. And I am wondering if it is better to use just one project or to jump back and forth?
    I have one main project and rather than make one big project, I wondered about jumping off to small projects and returning to the main one.
    I was trying to figure out the suggestion of jumping back to slide 10 and jump off to another project and then back to slide 20.
    Do the projects have to be published to see this work?
    I am just learning about Captivate so I am unsure of the best practices.
    Thanks.

    It's not that easy in Captivate projects to jump to a particular slide midway through another project.  Captivate is set up by default to just launch each project from the first slide.
    There have been workarounds published on this forum that allowed jumping into the middle of another project, but they can require some complex coding in either JavaScript or ActionScript.

  • How to jump Back and Forth?

    In C, we can use the "goto" keyword in combination with a label to jump back and forth to anywhere within a method. However, how do I implement this mechanism in Java?

    Take a good book of structured programming and they'll tell you the answer: You don't!. If you are so eager to do it anyways, you can do it with pseudo-loops. But don't blame me if you can't read your code after two days:
      l1: do {
        continue l1;  // jump back to beginning of loop
        break  l1; // jump behind the loop
      } while(false);

  • Compressor frame count jumping back and forth

    Hi guys,
    I've never noticed this before, until last night when compressing a 25-minute film in Compressor at 'DVD-90 minutes, high-quality'. What in the past on this film might take an hour or so, last night took about 14 hours (i.e. all evening and through the night).
    Compressor was advancing through the frame count, but then would return to an earlier frame, then jump forward through the frames again, then jump back to 10 or so frames earlier, advance forward, go back, etc. It took ages for it to get through a dozen frames or so.
    It seems to me in the past when I observed Compressor, it works its way consecutively through frames, advancing forward one frame at a time.
    I guess Compressor was reinterpreting data from an earlier frame, but is this normal? My film only has one of two video layers, up to 8 audio layers, some imported Motion QT files, and a very large PICT image file (scrolling end credits).
    When examing the frame count where Compressor seemed to get bogged down, it appears it was towards the end of the 25-min. film (around the 42,000 mark). It seemed to be stuck there, jumping back and forth all night. Must have been when it was trying to digest the PICT end credits... Eventually it did complete the task and the export was OK.
    If Compressor is having problems with the PICT (?), perhaps I'll test this out by putting my end credits on a seperate FCP sequence, export them as a QT file, then re-import that back into my film and see if Compressor is happier...
    Any thoughts?

    Ongoing changes? What do you mean exactly? Anytime you add filters to a clip and render you are slightly lowering the quality...slightly. But exporting, expecially via Compressor, will add even more. How many changes are you making?

  • Firefox jumping back and forth in time Mac

    I have the most up-to-date version of Firefox (11.0 if I recall correctly) and Mac OS X 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) updated on my . I have just recently been having an issue where firefox seems to jump back and forth through time. The time difference is at most a minute or two, but it gets very frustrating.
    For example, while I am writing this question, Firefox will jump back to a point where only half of the first paragraph is written, jump back to the 'present', jump back a bit, and then return to the 'present'. This happens with scrolling through websites as well.
    I updated yesterday because I bought Diablo III and wanted to make sure everything was current to let it install smoothly (which it didn't... >.<). I noticed upon the restart that my background will switch to a blue background from my picture. When I try to change the background back, it will revert to the blue background after 5 seconds or so. Perhpas this is related to the Firefox issue?

  • When I open certain emails the scroll bars at the side and bottom flash and jump back and forth along with the email content

    I recently upgraded to the latest version of Yahoo mail. Ever since then when I open certain emails the scroll bars jump back and forth and flash. This happens when I open my AT&T bill or something from Amazon for instance. A message appears at the bottom such as "Transferring data from mail.yimg.com", or "us.bc.yahoo.com". This doesn't happen when I use Safari.

    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

    Same specs here, but not seeing the issue you are describing, I suspect yours is a isolated issue.

    Well lets eliminate Firefox and the add-ons/plug-ins as a possibility first.
    1: User Firefox to uninstall all add-ons, then uninstall FF.
    2: Use Safari to check the status of your Flash and other plug-ins using this site
    https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
    3: Install FF again, then install your add-ons over time, one at a time, to try to determine when the problem occurs.

    Sounds like another issue, but localized to that particular account.
    Create another user in System Preference and see if it continues there as well.
    You can delete your
    com.apple.systempreferences.plist
    file in your User/Library/Preferences folder and reboot, the file will be recreated minus your preferences which you reset.
    Also download and run all of the free OnyX's mainatainance and cleaning aspects and reboot at the end (must), your machine will get a enema of sorts that might clear up the glitch.

  • For a few months now my ical keeps jumping back and forth.  It's very hard to use my calendar as it doesn't open on today, it may stay a few seconds and then it goes backwards to random dates and forwards.  It doesn't sit still so I can see what I have on

    My iCal is driving me nuts.
    It won't sit still when I am looking at my calender.  I try holding it still with one finger, two fingers and it just moves.  It jumps to random dates and I have no confidence in it any longer.   I use my calendar all the time and this just isn't good enough.
    I have gone into the apple store and they said they hadn't seen that before.  It did it while I was there.  They restored the phone and it didn't make any difference.
    I have turned the calendar off in settings - mail - icloud - deleted and then turned back on again.  It didn't help.
    I put the Google Calendar app on in the hopes I would have a calendar that wouldn't frustrate me and it is so slow in responding, I have deleted it.
    I see online that many others are having the same problem with their iCal.
    It would be great to know the solution.
    Please help

    Hey everyone in Apple world!
    I figured out how to fix the flashing yellow screen problem that I've been having on my MBP!  Yessssss!!!
    I found this super handy website with the golden answer: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
    I followed the instructions on this page and here's what I did:
    Resetting NVRAM / PRAM
    Shut down your Mac.
    Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
    Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
    Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.
    I went through the 6 steps above twice, just to make sure I got rid of whatever stuff was holding up my bootup process.  Since I did that, my MBP boots up just like normal.  No flashing yellow screen anymore!!
    (Note that I arrived at this solution when I first saw this page: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2570?viewlocale=en_US)
    Let me know if this works for you!

  • Jumping back and forth, probably because some keyboard shortcut.

    this is the 3rd time i m typing this is it keeps going back for no obvious reason. i wrote that i think it go something to do with the backspace button as it is used for going back, but sometime it does it without the backspace. just minute ago i started typing "happening" and it jumped 3 pages back. sometimes it causes what i wrote to disappear, anyway, it drives me nuts.

    Try http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.backspace_action

  • Jumping back and forth, LR and CS3

    I do most of my work in LR 2.5 but always go to CS3 to finish things up. At times I would like to take the incomplete image back to LR for some additional work and then again return to CS3. How do I go from CS3 to LR and then back again?

    Save the image back from Photoshop CS3, apply additional edits to the saved file in Lightroom then choose Edit in Photoshop CS3 again. You will be presented with the dialog shown below. You want to choose Edit a Copy with Lightroom Adjustments.

  • One website is redirected to another url and they keep switching back and forth

    When I try to open a particular site (nwherald.com), Firefox automatically switches between that url and m.nwherald.com. When loading, the two jump back and forth. This doesn't happen with any other url, and I can open nwherald.com just fine in IE. What gives. It's not much of a newspaper, but it's all we have.

    Did this problem occur recently with Firefox? The link runs fine for me; do you have any Firewall rules or antivirus settings that may block links?
    It is strange that it is trying to force you to a mobile site, and then back to a desktop version. Would you happen to have Flash disabled? I am wondering if the site is detecting a missing plugin and trying to bring you to a more compatible version.
    When you go to the site, you can check if the Web Console shows any errors:
    * Tools (or [[Image: New Fx Menu]] > Developer/Web Developer > Web Console
    If it is redirecting too quickly, you can temporarily disable redirects:
    * Tools (or [[Image: New Fx Menu]]) > Options > Advanced > General
    * Check "Warn me when sites try to reload or redirect the page"
    Also I doubt this is related to your problem, but I notice you have two versions of Adobe PDF Plug-ins:
    * Adobe PDF Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape 11.0.9
    * Adobe PDF Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape 11.0.8
    Having multiple versions of the same plugin can cause problems as well.

  • Interactive sub headings back and forth

    Dear All,
    I'm working on an ePub in InDesign CC and have chapter headings with sub headings under them.  I would like people to be able to tap a sub-heading and jump ahead to that page with an interactive hyperlink, and I have successfully incorporated that interaction.  Now I want my reader to be able to jump back to the sub-headings list so that they can choose another sub heading and jump ahead to that page, but I can't seem to do that.  How can I accomplish a back and forth interaction from sub-heading list to heading and then back to sub-heading list?  I've tried cross reference, but I don't think that's what I need to accomplish this task.  Thanks.
    Small Town Gal

    Dear Ariel,
    InDesign CC seems more than a little quirky in this procedure, but I was finally able to get it to work.  I have created my own website with Dreamweaver and have used hyperlinks in PDFs, so I am familiar with how to use them, but for some reason they sometimes don't show up in the hyperlinks panel in InDesgn CC after they are created, or the "reset" button doesn't clear up any errors.   Deleting and re-creating seemed to be the only solution for one particular link, because it kept locating the wrong link rather than the one that I wanted.  I finally got it cleared out and now everything works as I planned.
    Also, I am working with an ePub, not a PDF.  I find the PDFs easier to work with, although I realize that both PDF and ePub can be exported from the same document,  but I'm slogging my way through.  From past experience, it seemed to me that a two-way hyperlink should work, but it took me a bit of trying to find the correct combinations to accomplish it!  Thanks again.

  • Switching back and forth between 2 JFrames, rendering the other non-visable

    This seems to be my last problem with this assignment thankfully, everything else is completed. As per topic description, My assignment is to create a calculator like the windows XP calculator. It must have a 'standard view' on start up and the option to switch to a scientific calculator and switch back and forth as needed.
    As you most likely are aware the scientific calculator is approximately 1.3x the size of the standard calculator. I did look into CardLayout and TabLayout but from what I can gather these can't change sizes. I found this post: [http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=623561] Which is the same methods I had already tried. None of them worked.
    Being this is my first experience with swing, I naturally followed my books design which was to extend JFrame and implement other classes. I feel this may be the wrong course of action now.
    public class Calculator extends JFrame implements ActionListener,
                KeyListener, WindowListener
      private JMenuBar menuBar;
      private JMenu mEdit, mView, mHelp;
      private JMenuItem copyItem, pasteItem, helpItem, aboutItem;
      public Calculator()
        ... add(menu);
      public JMenuBar createMenu()
        ButtonGroup group = new ButtonGroup();
        rbStandard = new JRadioButtonMenuItem("Standard");
        rbStandard.setSelected(true);
        group.add(rbStandard);
        mView.add(rbStandard);
        rbScientific = new JRadioButtonMenuItem("Scientific");
        rbScientific.addActionListener(this);
        group.add(rbScientific);
        mView.add(rbScientific);
        menuBar.add(mView);
        return menuBar;
      @Override
      public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e)
        if (e.getActionCommand().equals("Standard"))
          if (! isStandard)
            if (this.isDisplayable())
              this.requestFocus();
              this.setVisible(true);
              rbStandard.setSelected(true);
              sc.setVisible(false);
              isStandard = true;
            else
              JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null,
                        "Something is wrong this WILL NOT SHOW !!!\n",
                        "It's STUFFED!\n", JOptionPane.INFORMATION_MESSAGE);
        else if (e.getActionCommand().equals("Scientific"))
          if (isStandard)
            sc.setVisible(true);
            rbScientific.setSelected(true);
            this.setVisible(false);
            isStandard = false;
      private class Scientific extends JFrame
        public Scientific()
          add(menuBar);
    }Ok that is a very basic overview of what the class looks like, the Standard calc hides itself and goes into Scientific mode very well, however when trying to switch back to Standard nothing happens, as you can see from that Action method I have tried numerous things, including dispose(). I need the standard view to become the scientific view and change it's size. I have read a lot of the swing tutorials and I can not think how to do this. Keep in mind that when Standard calc switches to scientific it does not open a new window, the window simply morphs. (this happens at the same orientation to desktop as well).
    2 questions:
    1. Does anyone know how I can switch back to standard calc?
    2. Should I redesign my project (which is currently sitting at 1200 lines and a single class(with inner classes)) and how?
    What is a good way to design a swing application such as this? (or is having the class extend JFrame perfectly normal?)
    Edited by: Gcampton on Sep 19, 2010 7:47 AM
    Additionally, I forgot to mention, I use the menu bar already defined in standard calculator(outer class) inside my scientific(inner class), all the options within scientific mode work exactly as they do in standard. Except of course for switching back to standard. Also the boolean variable isStandard, is not the problem as I have tested without it. the "About Calculator" "Help Topics" "copy" "paste" menu buttons all work and perform the actions as implemented in the Standard Calculator actionPerformed(ActionEvent e), The scientific actionPerformed() method IS BLANK!!!
    I was somewhat surprised at this, yet thankful as well. I didn't want to have so much repeat code in the inner class.

    I shouldn't have been so quick to think I won't run into any more problems...
    I've copied code straight from java tutorials [http://download.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/uiswing/components/editorpane.html]
                JEditorPane editorPane = new JEditorPane();
                editorPane.setEditable(false);
                java.net.URL helpURL = About.class.getResource("Doc2.html");
                if (helpURL != null)
                    try
                        editorPane.setPage(helpURL);
                    catch (IOException e)
                        System.err.println(
                                "Attempted to read a bad URL: " + helpURL);
                else
                    System.err.println(
                            "Couldn't find file: About.html");
                //Put the editor pane in a scroll pane.
                JScrollPane editorScrollPane = new JScrollPane(editorPane);
                editorScrollPane.setVerticalScrollBarPolicy(
                                JScrollPane.VERTICAL_SCROLLBAR_ALWAYS);
                editorScrollPane.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(250, 145));
                editorScrollPane.setMinimumSize(new Dimension(10, 10));
                return editorScrollPane;I have the html document in root eclipse folder, in bin and src. yet it does not display. I also have icons in my root folder and they display fine:
    this.setIconImage(new ImageIcon("about.png").getImage());Is this way depreciated? or is there somewhere else I should have the document?

  • Converting back and forth from CS4 to CS3 inDesign

    Hi I have a favorite designer who only has CS3 -- I am working in CS4. We are working on a 200page book design layout and cover togehter. What are the risks of going back and forth? We did a test from me to her CS4-CS3 via INX. She could open the file just fine. This is a relatively simple text book with some Jpeg diagrams. Can the formatiing start jumping around -- or is the problem more in new advanced features in CS4.
    thanks for any help Michael

    Any of those scenarios will probably work. The reflow issue is that there are differences in the text engines between the versions.
    When your designer opens your .inx file, the text is automatically recomposed and some line endings might change. This can cause the line count to change for a block of text and result in an overset situation or a new wido/orphan problem. Your designer wouldn't see your original line endings.
    Conversely, when you open the CS3 file none of the text is recomposed until you start to edit, and then that story will recompose. You see the CS3 composition until you edit, or force a recompose using the Alt (Opt) + Ctrl (Cmd) + / Keyboard Shortcut, which is a recommended first step if you exchange files like this to avoid surprises late in the process.
    The major points here are that sending files round trip is subject to text reflow which may or may not be critical (but you'll need to look at every page carefully to catch things like forced line breaks that no longer fall at appropriate locations and oversets or keeps problems) and you'll have to limit yourself to using only features supported in CS3 up to the point where it will remain in CS4 for finalization.
