Eclipse plugin Memory Leak

Hello all,
I just started using Kodo. Everything works very well and this is a nice
product. My only problem is that there seems to be a memory leak when
using the Eclipse plugin. The memory taken by the javaw process in task
manager grows and grows if I keep using the mapping tool from inside
eclipse with the kodo buttons on top. When memory usage gets to around
400mb I restart Eclipse.
Has anyone else run into this problem? Is there any way around it?
Thanks in advance,
Adam.

Adam-
We haven't seen any reports of this. Can you describe the actions you
take with Kodo? Specifically, are there any particular actions that if
you just repeat over and over, Eclipse runs out of memory?
Also, what version of Eclipse are you using? Earlier versions has a bug
with an interaction with ant has a memory leak. See:
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=24448

  • Acrobat Plugin Memory Leak

I am using the Acrobat 9.1.0 plugin under Firefox extremely heavily, so it is possible that nobody has stressed it to the extent that I have.  I have observed that there is a memory leak that manifests in various ways after viewing a few hundred PDF files. Occasionally Windows reports a memory shortage and suggests shutting down applications, but more often the problem manifests as applications hanging because they are unable to obtain the memory to call system services for display, or most common of all Firefox crashes.  The crash is caught by Firefox and has been reported to Mozilla support, but since the actual problem is in the Acrobat plugin there is not a lot that Firefox can do to handle this.
How can I report this problem to the appropriate authorities?
Although the problem is arising on PDF images that I am retrieving from the Library and Archives of Canada web site the easiest way to reproduce it is to take advantage of the web front-end that I have on my own site http://www3.sympatico.ca/jamescobban/database/Images1891.html.  Just click on "View Image" to load the first PDF image and then click on "Advance By" a few hundred times.

This is a user to user forum. You can report to Adobe by either calling up Adobe support or logging the bug at :

  • Eclipse TPTP to track memory leak?

    Hello,
I am writing a rather large program and I am collecting a lot of data. My problem is that I'm running out of heap space. I need to track large amounts of weather data over the course of the year, but I don't think that is the problem. I think I have a memory leak somewhere and I can't find it. I am working in Eclipse and I've heard a bit about the TPTP tools. I was just wondering if anyone could direct me to a tutorial for using these tools or at least give me a general set of instructions? I have everything installed but can't find a good tutorial anywhere.

    JProfiler is one such tool.
However, you might try increasing the amonut of memory the heap in java is allowed to use before looking into those tools.
Perhaps your application just uses a lot of memory rather than a memory leak. Search google for 'java xmx' on how to increase heap size.

  • Plugin-container.exe takes over and uses 100% of my CPU locking me out and leaving my PC non-functioning. Is this a bug, or a memory leak, in the Firefox software? Can anything be done to fix this problem?

In looking at Windows Task Manager I found that plugin-container.exe was taking over 100% of my CPU and my system was frozen. Is this a memory leak or other bug?

Thank you! I have been having problems with Adobe Flash since downloading the new 11.1 version. I will download it again and reinstall it, hopefully that will correct the problem.

  • Memory Leak Java Plugin with Swing Applet

    Hi
I experience the following problem and desperately need help on this. The Java Plugin (I use Version 1.3.1_02) seems to have a problem in printing Swing Applets.
The problem can easily be reproduced (at least with NT):
    1) Start Internet Explorer or Netscape (I used 5.5/4.07)
    2) Launch the following demo swing applet
    http://java.sun.com/products/plugin/1.3.1_01a/demos/jfc/SwingSet2/SwingSet2Plugin.html
    3) Print the applet and observe (using task manager) the memory used by the browser process (the memory used by the process will increase every time you hit the print button but never decrease unless you shut down the browser)
    4) Print a couple of times (you may want to pause your print queue) and you will be able to crash your computer
This seems to be the same bug reported with 4638742. However it says "in progress" for quite some time and I was wondering if some genious might know a work around for this.
    Cheers

  • Firefox 4 still suffering from a serious memory leak, ends up using 2GB of RAM on 5 tabs and a few plugins?!!

Why does even Firefox 4, which was supposed to have this issue fixed by now, still suffer from memory leaks?
I opened up 4-5 tabs, enabled Firebug to tweak a few pages, and an hour later Firefox usage is up to 2GB of RAM?
    What a...?!
Now, seriously, if you run to suggest that it is most likely due to add-ons and that I should disable them all and start Firefox in safe mode, let me just cut you off right there and ask you this - out of millions of people who downloaded this browser, who the hell uses it without any plugins and/or in safe mode?
If you're gonna make a browser, make it so that it's lean and free of these issues to begin with, out of the box AND in case an addon or something else is added to it - can't they protect the core files and libraries from being victims to this, in case the addons are to blame?
And in case it's a Firefox issue to start off with, seriously, can you get a dedicated developer to look into this alone and get it fixed, once and for all?

I have six tabs open and generally have 3-5. It's been sitting here since last night. I'm using 296Mb ram which is high for me on Windows. My wife and son both use FF4 also and, having just checked, are between 210 and 268Mb respectively.
No one I know ever complains about high memory usage in FF4 and neither have I experienced it since FF2.5 when memory leaks any user would notice were all fixed.
So my advice is the same. If your add-ons aren't causing you problems, fix your system.

  • Is it possible to specify MLS port in Mission Control Eclipse plugin?

I'm running the Mission Control plugin in Eclipse to manage a remote server behind a firewall. I'm able to run the JRockit console, however I am unable to run Memory Leak Detector. It seems I need to specify the MLS port, or I need to turn off the firewall to allow the MLS to use a random port. Turning off the firewall is not a option.
Is it possible specify the MLS port in the Eclipse Mission Control Plugin? I can't find anywhere to do. Is it possible to somehow include it as part of the Custom JMX URL?
FYI, I have to use the Eclipse plugin because I'm working on OSX, and that seems to be my only option.

You should be able to specifiy which port is used for Memleak in the Mission Control preferences,
Mission Control/Memory Leak Detector/Communication - Use fixed port
If you can't see those prefs, which version of Mission Control are you using?

  • Memory Leak - macromedia.util.UtilPagedTempBuffer

    Hi,
I've been trying to track down a slow memory leak on a ColdFusion 8 server for a month, and have stalled a bit.
I've been through all the usual techniques for debugging memory leaks in coldfusion, without any success, so I started using Java memory Profilers to see what's clogging up the heap.
I've been using the MAT plugin for eclipse, and it keeps pointing to the macromedia.util.UtilPagedTempBuffer class as the problem. The retained size of each instance isn't too large at about 66k, but thousands of them can build up in a few days, which causes the problem. For some reason, the instances of this class just aren't being released for garbage collection.
I'm stuck now, as googling this class doesn't give me any further information.
I would appreciate any information you have on this class, even just knowing the basics of what it does? Any explanation as to why it doesn't clear would help a lot.
    Thanks in advance

    Thanks for the reply.
There shouldn't be any file uploads going on, so I'm starting to think it could be an sql issue.
Although googling this class only seemed to bring it up in stack traces, the adjacent stack places seemed to be SQL related classes.
I'm starting to think that it's either a problem with the SQL drivers or some configuration setting I've used for the datasource.
I'm using CF8 standard on a 64bit windows vps (iis running in 32bit compatiblity mode). The database is MS SQL 2005, presumably running as a 64bit application.
Do you think this could be the issue? Is it worth changing the database drivers (and how would I go about this)?

  • Memory Leaks   Unresponsive Mouse

2009 8 core Mac Pro w/ 24 GB of RAM, ATI Radeon 4870, and a SeriTek PCIe eSATA card (card only has drives connected when running a manual drive clone).  When running Toast 10 or Parallels 9, my RAM will fill up (I use a program called Menu Meters to monitor stuff).  This machine worked just fine under OS 10.9 and earlier - no issues like this at all.  ClamXAV will also completely fill the RAM up (the meter will be full green, instead of part green, then mostly grey when Toast or Parallels fills it up).  I have to use Terminal to purge it so that the machine is usable.
The other thing that happens is that sometimes when the computer wakes up or I am in the middle of doing something, the mouse will still move, but the dock will not pop open and the left button the mouse doesn't respond.  The right button will open the right click menu, but will not respond normally at all.  I have tried a different Magic Mouse, but the problem is the same.
I thought that it may be a problem with the factory RAM and the Kingston RAM not playing nicely together.  So I ran it with just the factory 8 GB and then ran it with the Kingston 16 GB - the problem persists no matter which RAM is installed.  All of the RAM also passes the memory tests in Rember and TechTool.
So, I need to find out if someone thinks that maybe the bluetooth module may be going bad causing the mouse issues.  I also need to find out what is causing the memory leaks.  I followed the steps that someone gave on this site to boot into safe mode, repair permissions, reset PRAM, then reset SMC (or the other way around - I did it like they said to).  It did nothing to fix the problem.
I need some guidance here.  As I stated early on, the machine worked perfectly with OS 10.9.  I have WAY too much software that I use, so doing a completely fresh install is out of the question - I don't have time to reload everything.  This problem is annoying and I know that I am not the only one having these issues.  Any input will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

    Here is the EtreCheck report:
    Problem description:
Memory leaks when using Toast 10 or Parallels 9.  Mouse also become unresponsive (it will move, but left button does not work and dock will not pop open - mouse problem happens independent of the RAM being filled up - different mouse was tried with same result).

  • Firefox memory leak, how to fix?

I've noticed i've been having memory leaks since quite a few versions before the latest one (33.1.1) and the problem still continues, i notice this more when i leave firefox open for awhile, sometimes only with youtube and couple of other "static" pages on, but i've got the same results without youtube.
Today i decided to ask the question, since i haven't seen any memory leak bugfixes in the recent changelogs and it becomes quite a problem to me because i leave it all day open and when it happens it forces me to restart (not really forces but i don't like having an 1.3GB process when i can have the same for 500~ ...)
I don't believe any of my extras are the reason for it, i've tested them over the pass'ed versions, removed a few, installed a few, always same problem.
All of this running WIndows 7 Ultimate 64-bits .
i've researched and found it's a "common" problem, but no really solution or expected bugfix soon or anything, i'm still to test it without any 3rd part extensions or plugins, but i don't (think) have any extensions that may cause this because like i said, i've changed them quite a few times.
Here is my extension list: http://i.imgur.com/Rk80ajU.png
Here is my plugin list: http://i.imgur.com/GBA0qgY.png
And here is a "Measure" report from "about:memory" : http://privatepaste.com/bcd17c1093
I just want to know why it leaks so badly, almost the double RAM it would normally use.
Currently i'm like 3 tabs with 1.25 GB (Private Set) used, when i close a few tabs, it keeps stable or even rising by a few mb.
    I hope there's something useful with that report/my extensions|plugins.
    Thanks for the reading.

I heard about that extension "problem" but, when i see on "about:addons-memory" from a third-party extension (that i can't remember but yo can see it in the link on OP, it only uses few megabytes (20~) , so, either it's a memory leak on the extension (if that's really the cause) a problem with my addon to view the extensions memory or a firefox one.
But i seriously don't expect that extension eats up all of this memory, but i will test it in a couple of days.

  • Memory leak in LR.

I'm getting what appears to be a memory leak in LR. Is anyone else experiencing this ramp of memory usage as viewed in Task Manager. I have 32GB of DDR3 installed and LR takes it all and want's more. The ramp peaks with all of physical memory allocated to LR (~28GB) and a total of ~47GB allocated to the app. Once it hangs out in slowmageddon for awhile it drops back down to around 13GB and restarts the ramp (~ 30seconds or so) to full allocation again.
Does anyone have a clue what could be wrong with my installation?
Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Memory leak in a client using EJBs deployed in a Bea Weblogic 10.0.0 cluste

    Hi all,
We are having a memory leak in a client using stateless EJBs deployed in cluster. The client is a Tomcat 6.0.18 with java 6 but it is reproduced using Tomcat 5 with java 5. The client is calling a Weblogic Server 10.0 making
calls to an EJB deployed in cluster that has two instances installed in two different machines.
The client works fine if we shutdown one of the server instances and so when the client is using only one instance.
    Resuming the environment:
    Client Side:
    1 HP-Itanium machine with HP-UX.
1 Tomcat 6 with java 6 (reproduced with java 5)
Bea Weblogic client (wlclient.jar) for Weblogic 10.0.0
    Server Side:
    2 HP-Itanium machines with HP-UX
Bea Weblogic Server 10.0.0 installed in both machines
    An unique domain
Two Bea instances (one per machines) associated to a Bea Cluster
    EJBs deployed in both instances
We have monitored the memory consumed in Tomcat and we have noticed that the VM memory PS OLD GEN grows up permanently when we make tests having the two server side Bea Instances up. We have extended
the memory VM parameters in Tomcat client till 1G and it's only a way to delay the end: the free memory is empty, the GC is not able to free no more byte and the CPU is 100% consumed by the GC work. At the end Tomcat Client
doesn't accept more http petitions and must be restarted.
Besides, we have studied the VM memory in Tomcat using jmap and importing it using Eclipse Memory Analyzer. We have seen some strange memory blocks of several Mbytes that are always growing up and that are stored
under data structures in the package com.sun.corba:

  • Memory leak? Firefox won't load pages/open.

Ok, I believe there is a memory leak. I am surfing ok then a page wont load. I go to taskmgr and I show that one firefox has 104,990 K of memory. The rest have at most 3,000K. After the page won't load I close Firefox. It won't open. I have to turn on PC and unplug to get it to open again.

This issue can be caused by an extension or plugin that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    See:
    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]

  • FIrefox betrayed by its own "developers"? Memory Leak Work Around at Bottom

Firefox SUCKS memory and holds onto it. Try this test: Open it, leave ONE tab, open and sit back and and watch the damn thing crash.
Funny, as soon as the project people started getting so much money from Google that they had to restructure to avoid losing its non-profit status Firefox developed an insatiable thirst for RAM that has only gotten worse in the YEARS since. They won't fix the problem, they won't acknowledge the problem, the ignore every post about it . . . . So, is killing FF's user base the price for the continued Google money that they so quickly whored themselves out for? Has FF been run by Google these last few years? They certainly couldn't wreck any better.

"Using ADD-ons to remove memory leak. Mozilla says to remove add-ons to fix leak. Firefox sucks memory. it always has and always will. Nobody wants to admit it exsists on the Mozilla side must less fix it. Firewalls , etc do not cause the leak. You can remove all your ad-ons and leave firefox open and it will suck memory. Every tab you open drains your memory and continues to climb without opening any more. You can then close all your tabs and Firefox will not release the memory. Just fix it guys, it cant be that difficult "

"There is a way to stay on top of the memory usage:
Go to about:memory and scroll to the bottom. There are buttons there for garbage collection and minimizing memory usage. "

Please try this two minute test.
    '''Create a new Firefox profile'''
A new profile will have your system-installed plugins (e.g., Flash) and extensions (e.g., security suite toolbars), but no themes, other extensions, or other customizations. It also should have completely fresh settings databases and a fresh cache folder.
Exit Firefox and start up in the Profile Manager using Start > search box (or Run):
    firefox.exe -P
Any time you want to switch profiles, exit Firefox and return to this dialog.
You'll click the Create Profile button. I recommend using the default location suggested, and to avoid data loss, not re-using any existing folder. Then start Firefox in the new profile you created.
What happens with memory usage with the two default tabs open, or another tab of your choice?
When returning to the Profile Manager, you might be tempted to use the Delete Profile button. But... it's a bit too easy to accidentally delete your "real" profile, so I recommend resisting the temptation. If you do want to clean up later, I suggest making a backup of all your profiles first in case something were to go wrong.

  • Memory leak issues persist in Safari 6.0.5 (it's about time that Apple actually fixed this)

Safari has been notorious for its memory leaks for years, as I'm sure many of you know. I stopped using Safari as my main browser in 2010 or so, and I instead began to use Chrome. However, I recently had to use Safari to access some webpages, and I neglected to quit out of it. A few hours later, my computer slowed to a complete crawl. I was confused, because my computer never slows down to such a crawl, so I went into Activity Monitor to find the 'Safari Web Content' process using all of my available RAM, which was nearly 6 GB. Needless to say, Safari was force quit after that. I've heard that some plugins will cause this, but Flash was my only active plugin. Flash is, indeed, a heaping pile of crap that will readily eat resources as it sees fit- but this never happens to me in Chrome, and I use Flash all of the time n Chrome. This was after it had been sitting idle for quite some time, and I imagine that it would have used more RAM if it could.

Using 6.0.5 here without any of those issues ...
Regardless of whether Flash is being used, from your Safari menu bar click Help > Installed Plug-ins.
Try troubleshooting extensions and third party plug-ins.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that off if there are any installed. Quit and relaunch Safari to test. If that helped, turn extensions back on then uninstall one a time to test.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect:  Allow all other plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.

Checked to see exactly how much space is available ??
Click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac > More Info > Storage
Make sure there's at least 15% free disk space.
    Checked the startup disk lately?
Launch Disk Utility located in HD > Applications > Utilities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click:  Verify Disk  (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If the disk needs repairing, restart your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys. From there you can access the built in utilities in OS X Recovery to repair the startup disk.
