Edge signal bars are worse than 3G

Hello there,
I just purchased my 8GB iPhone 3G from Rogers few days ago. I've been using the 3G for a while and my connection is excellent, I always get 5 bars and not seen it drop once yet. I knew that the 3G drains my battery down so I decided to turn it off and run on EDGE network.
I was surprised because my edge never stayed at 5 bars since the time I've tried it. it always began fluctuating from 5 to 2 and usually just stays at around 3 bars. I've also done a restore on my phone hoping it would fix it, but unfortunately it did not. For most people it's the opposite like the 3G is worse than EDGE.
So I was wondering if its a hardware problem or is 3G where I live seems to support the iPhone much better than EDGE? So should I keep it on instead of EDGE then even though it would drain the battery quicker?

I just switched to EDGE and I have full 5 bars but don't know if that's generally the case. I'm rarely on EDGE, since at home, school or work, there's WiFi and otherwise I use 3G.
Btw, Roger's 3G coverage has significantly improved over the past two months, as initially it was so unreliable I was on EDGE pretty much all the time.

This is not worse....
script is client dependent.smartform is client independent.
Less programing in smart form.
Multiple page format is possible in smart form
we can maintain background graphics in smartform
Scripts doesnot generate any funtional module where as smart form generates.
Multiple page format not allowed in scripts allowed in sf.
Labelling is possible in scripts not possible in sf.
Script is client dependent and sf is client independent.

Reception Signal Strength Quality worse than 1st Gen

At home, I get worse reception on my 3G iPhone than my 1st Gen iPhone. Is it just my phone or one of ATT's towers went down? Or did I just get a defective iPhone 3G? If anyone else has noticed this difference I would like to know.

Same here. I know I live in an area where the signal is very strong ("best", according to AT&T), and my Sprint phone had full-strength here. My roommates have no problems, either.
However, with my new iPhone 3G, the bars are usually almost flat. If I turn 3G off, sometimes I get a better signal (at least according to the "bars") but I shouldn't have to do that.
I'm sitting right next to a window and it's almost flatlined. I walk around the house or drive around and it keeps changing....but full strength? I don't think I've seen it yet.
I'm really hoping this gets fixed asap, particularly if the bar graphic is an accurate reflection of the actual signal strength being received....because if not, I'm going to have to give up my iPhone, and I've been waiting over a YEAR to have this phone.

How come Maps v2 are worse than v1?

I own a N78 and I'm currently located in Bulgaria. A day ago I decided to upgrade Nokia Maps so I downloaded Map Loader 2 and Nokia Maps 2 from Nokia's site. Installation went normal and everything looked fine when, planning a route today, to my dismay I realized the maps from v2 are missing places that were present on the ones from v.1! Examples are the small villages of Palilula and Gromshin (spelled Gromsin in maps v.1) in Northwestern Bulgaria, and Chukovec in the southwest. All the small villages that were present on Maps v1 are gone since v2, the places where they are located show nothing, not roads, nor the villages themselves, and the search doesn't find them either. What happened? Am I missing something?

Unbelievable. So Nokia made a navigation program with more features but with less detailed maps. Mind you, I'm not talking about one or two spots, basically the entire set of small villages from Bulgaria's map have disappeared, as I've discovered, and thus only big cities remain to which there are enough directions anyway. When you say "in the short term" does this mean there is any chance for the maps to become detailed again? If so, any ideas when this happens as in the present I just can not use the handset for proper navigation? If not, how do I revert back to Maps v.1? I've tried uninstalling v2 but then, when I open the program, it says it cannot open maps, update to ost recent version. I'm figuring Maps v1 cannot use the the maps supplied to v.2, will formatting the phone give me back the good ones?

I have pop up Ads all over my firefox browser, they are worse than ever! Help

Every time I open a new tab there is a pop up ad. Also there are certain words underlined throughout websites that also lead to an ad.

probably your pc infected from malware. Try to remove any toolbar that you have not install from your firefox extensions (firefox button > addons > extensions)
check also control panel > add or remove programs, remove any program not installed by you.

WTF seems like creative are worse than logitech ROFL, are u even gonna reply creative ?

i have this frigging camera , model PD1170, i can get it to work about /0 times i try ...., i have owned ALOT of diffrent creative devices , i will only mention the sound blaster LIVE ROFL , yeah 5. . Creative will probably block this post b4 anyone gets to read it ....., well i have many many email addys so do as u must creative , but if u dont immediatly figure out what the problem is with this camera , I think here in canada and the US we may have to call for a recall , without any limit of purchase date , cause creative knows full well this cam is garbage , i bought a logitech the other day to replace this piece of garbage , and as usual with logitech , it worked imediatly without a problem , SO why is it that anything creative is missrepresented and never corrected ?
I am beyond irate about this situation , i am tired of paying 2-5X what any other company charges for the same product .... and what do creative do

Just Updated to Firefox 26.0...Hanging Worse Than Ever.

I just updated to FireFox 26.0 a few hours ago, and now when I visit a site like Wonkette.com, the browser hangs are worse than ever before...and they were bad before. My browser is hanging (becomes completely unresponsive) minutes at a time before it either loads the page, or tries to load it and I get a script error (which takes more minutes to pop up while the browser's unresponsive) before it loads.
God help you if you go anywhere with an IntenseDatabase commenting system or any kind of embedded video player. I have on no add-ons or plug-ins, so it is not that (and they are all up-to-date, anyway, but that's irrelevant).
No, this is not something solved by going into Safe Mode - the seeming catch-all cure that never works, either - so don't even offer that up as a solution. Thanks.

In column Chart when Y values are grater than y linear axis maximum it doesnt show the Bar.But i want show the bar upto the max limit of y linear axis without changing the max limit.
Consider following example:
Y values are 80 90 200 300
and following are the output :
Left:When i am not setting maximum property of linear axis.
Right :When i am setting maximum property of linear axis to 200.
In right 4th bar is not visible bcoz value for that bar is 300 which is excedding maxium.But i want the 4th bar to appear same as 3rd bar.
How i can do this?

Are you going to show the bar going past the maximum value?
If not, then you should change the Y value when entered into the array to the maximum value allowed. i.e.
if(itemYValue > maxAllowedValue) {
itemYValue = maxAllowedValue;
Where maxAllowedValue is a variable you set on the application to control the maximum value for the chart.
This is assuming that you are loading the values into an Array before updating the chart dataprovider with that array.

When I have more than one tab open, if I click on a picture to view, when the window opens to view the photo, firefox crashes. I also notice while looking at a web page, the pinned tabs to the left of the bar are constantly reloading for some reason.

First 6 core MP results with Logic...and they're worse than the quad

Here's the first report I've seen of 6 cores on Logic. Logic shows 6 bars in the CPU meter. But he ran the "evan" benchmark and performance was worse than on a quad at a lower clock speed, only 47 tracks. For comparison, 4 cores (with HT enabled) at 2.26 gave 50 tracks - the new machine has two more cores and 47% higher clock speed.

For comparison, a while back I simulated six cores by disabling two on my eight core MP 2.26 and got 32 tracks. The difference matches the difference in clock speed. In my test the result for six cores was identical to that of four cores with hyperthreading disabled. My guess is that with the current version of Logic, the six core machines might get a big speed boost if two of the cores are disabled, basically turning it back down to a quad - my estimate would be about 73 tracks.
Logic has lacked support for new machines before, but this is the first time I've actually seen performance get worse with a new machine with more cores (and much faster clock speed). If this doesn't provide incentive for Apple to update for better support of cores, I don't know what will.

Exactly. You would think that if the app wasn't programmed to support four cores, the worst case scenario would be that it would just use four of them and provide the same performance as a quad. But instead it seems like the extra cores confuse the app and it actually performs considerably worse than a quad.
No question they are due for a Logic update asap or get some bad press once word gets out.

Carrier logo and signal bar dissappeared

Hi,
My carrier just got LTE support for iPhone 5 and I received updated carrier settings on my iPhone. As soon as they were installed so that it says "Enable LTE" instead of "Enable 3G", my whole status bar on the left side disappeared.
No Carrier logo, but much worse, no signal bar or wifi bar. But I do have signal... When I switch on "do not disturb" they appear again but disappear as soon as do not disturb is switched off again. So I can browse and call etc, but the status bar is just missing...
If anyone has any advice, please help! I tried resetting the phone, as well as switching it off and on again. More than once. No change.
I even restored my phone from a backup I made yesterday before the network settings have been updated.
I would be very grateful for any help.

No I don't think its necessarily because of the 4G rollout.
My iPhone5 has a Orange/EE 3G sim card and contract.
This is what my theory is...
My iPhone5 is set to automatically select the best network. It can see the 4G EE network is available, but when it connects via my 3G sim card it glitches / nullifies the signal and just reports that weird 000-00.
Ever since I turned off 4G / LTE in settings I have not had the 000-00 error.
So now it isn't getting confused with 4G and 3G signals, it doesn't give the error.
So my theory is supported by my experience.
Out of curiosity, is everyone who is having this problem absoloutely sure they have 4G sims??? I got my iPhone on release day, as a new contract, assumed it was 4G and only found out after a customer service phonecall much later that infact the new contract I had taken out was only a 3G one despite it being a brand new contract with an iPhone5 (yet that was one of the selling points by Orange / EE.)

3G vs EDGE signal issues in San Diego 92103

I have perfect 5 bar EDGE and 3G reception at my house on the 5th floor of a 6 story condo building. In the past few days, the two networks are competing for attention with my iPhone, and the phone seems confused. First it will switch to EDGE from 3G, and then it will switch to NO SERVICE. Then after a while it goes back to EDGE, but never gets the 3G signal back. I've seen it do this twice during the day time. It also does it at night when I'm asleep, the reason I know is because when it switched to EDGE, my computer speakers buzz from the data interferance that the EDGE network causes with unshielded speakers and it wakes me up!
Is it possible that the 3G and EDGE signals are so strong they could be competing on my phone? I thought the phone wouldn't even try to switch to EDGE unless it dropped down to like 1 bar? Why would my 3G signal go from perfect to none causing the phone to switch to EDGE and then loose EDGE reception?
It seems the only fix is to reboot the phone. I called Apple today and they told me to try "reset network settings", and also try a hard reboot (hold the home button and power down for 10 seconds).
So, I've tried these, but I doubt they will work. They also suggested I may need a new SIM card, which makes zero sense to me.
Is anyone else having this problem, are there any fixes? Is this a hardware problem with the radio in the phone? Firmware problem with the way the phone handles the networks? Or is this a total AT&T problem?

Maybe, but it might take a lot longer then you think! I used to live in University Heights on Adams and Oregon St, and Verizon had the same problem. Full bars one minute, no service the next. They were never able to fix it, so I had to switch to T-Mobile. To this day I think the problem still exists over there. I almost think it's TOO MUCH signal as opposed to not enough. What blows me away is just 8 blocks away from my house there is only 1 BAR of 3G signal from AT&T! I don't understand it (except here I am on the 5th floor, and 8 blocks away I was on the ground!).
On the other hand, AT&T is sending me a replacement SIM card tomorrow, I doubt that will fix it, but who knows. I have been very impressed so far with the customer service from both Apple and AT&T reps regarding this issue.

2-3 signal bars in Sugarland Texas 77479

I ported 2 lines less than a week ago from ATT however I am only receiving 2-3 signal bars in Sugar land Tx. ATT gave me 5 , I switched because I could not get a signal in mall or stores with ATT but seems Verizon is no better. My wife has only 2-3 bars also . However our ATT mini Pads are at 5 bars .
Anyone else experiencing the same concern ?

2 to 3 bars is a very usable signal. Are you having problems? Sugar Land certainly has multiple cell towers so as you move around your signal will certainly vary, which is normal. What is more important in getting signal into buildings is the frequency, and Verizon's main signals are in the lower frequencies to get better building penetration. How is the function in the malls and stores you visit? That is the real test, not number of bars.

As suggested make sure "cellular data" is ON and you have valid cellular data plan.
That "E" sign only shows the network (Edge) or 3G (if you are in the 3G network), but it has no relation to you not been able to make regular calls or sending regular texts with network signal (in the form of bars) being present.
Double check if you have credit in your phone (in case of pre-paid) or if you have reached your limit (in case of post-paid)

Premiere Elements 8 is worse than useless to me

I have to admit, I can't explain why I'm still trying to make Premiere Elements 8 work. I should have given up and moved to another software program by now. I've been on the phone twice with the Customer Service group in India, for over half an hour at a time. Each time they insist they've solved my problem, yet it keeps getting worse. Now, I'm not only having uncontrolled and unexplained system crashes, but hours and hours of work are now corrupted and totally wasted.
Here is a list of the problems I'm having:
1. The primary problem is that Premiere Elements 8 crashes and shuts down in the middle of work with no warning or notice. It happens after about 3-5 minutes of using the software, so I've gotten in the habit of saving my work every time I do anything, no matter how small. Needless to say, you can chart my progress with a sundial. Tedious does not do the process justice.
2. When I save the work, I will get a Project Save Error. It tells me to save to a new location. Of course, it won't let me do that, so I have to exit the program without saving my most recent work. Again, this happens about every 3-5 minutes.
3. Occasionally, when I'm working with a timeline, as I move the cursor up to the menus at the top of the screen, if I am selecting the File or Edit menu, the timeline will scroll left on its own - if I move the cursor off of the Edit or File menu, the scrolling stops.
4. When I am working on a timeline, I will get a "System Memory Running Very Low" warning, along with advice to save immediately and proceed with caution. Of course, when I get that warning, it is already too late, as any attempt to save the work causes the program to crash.
5. Today, we've seen a new thing, and it's completely destroyed two entire projects. When I try to open projects I've previously worked on, large sections of them appear as blood red with the words "Media Offline" in a number of languages. These red sections appear not only on the organizer, but in the timeline as well. It's as if Premiere Elements 8 can't find the media I copied into the timeline even though I've been working on the project for days and have not moved the media from the folder where it always sits.
Saving work after every task - no matter how small - makes doing anything painfully slow and mind-numbingly tedious, but at least it worked - until today. Now, hours and hours of work have been rendered absolutely wasted. I've never encountered a software program with so many fundamental problems. It's almost as if it was created by amateurs. I can honestly say that it does nothing well.
As I said, I've been on the phone twice now with the problem solving group in India, and while they are very nice and courteous, they've done nothing to solve the problems. In fact, the problems have become worse, although I can't say it's because of anything they've done. Both times, they've assured me that they've fixed the problems, and the software works fine while I am on the phone with them - for about 2 or 3 minutes. But then, it works fine for me for the same length of time.
To be honest, I'm not sure why I would call them back. I'll spend an hour clicking on tabs only to be assured that my problems have been solved. Then, 5 minutes later I'm dealing with the same situation - or worse.
I've tried every solution listed on-line for the crashes. I have the 8.01 update, I have the latest video drivers, I've done all of the steps it recommends. Every day that I use the software, it performs worse than the day before.
I'm not sure why I'm writing this - I think I've reached the end of my rope. I doubt these problems can be fixed - maybe I just have a defective copy, who knows. But, I am very close to demanding my money back and saying goodbye to Adobe products for the future.
