Edit history file
Is there a way to edit history files? I know I can delete them but how can I delete a few from a days history?
Hi BB,
I am most likely using an earlier version of Safari than you but I'm sure it is the same for Safari 3. Look for the "book" icon in the "Bookmarks bar" and click that (should be on the left side of the bookmarks bar). A new window will open with a "History" selection in the left column (Collections). Select History and then you will be able to selectively delete history pages from the list in the right pane.

How to change the colors of the font(file-edit-history)and so on
i have just updated my persona and now i am having difficulty reading the (file-edit history) and so on,also the saved sites in the toolbar. they are currently red and it blends into the persona which makes it difficult to see. thank you in advance. pete
If you have installed a persona then the default text color and background color of the toolbars are defined by that persona.<br />
The colors of the currently selected persona are stored as the first entry in the pref <b>lightweightThemes.usedThemes</b> as textcolor and accentcolor.<br />
You can edit that pref and set another value for the "textcolor":"#ffffff" part (e.g. "textcolor":"#000000").
See also http://kb.mozillazine.org/about%3Aconfig
A default value for the pref that you can use for locally stored files lightweighttheme-header and lightweighttheme-footer if you have a backup.<br />
lightweightThemes.usedThemes:
<pre><nowiki>[{"id":"1","name":"Unknown","accentcolor":"-moz-dialog","textcolor":"black","description":"Unknown","author":"Unknown","headerURL":"http://getpersonas-cdn.mozilla.net/","footerURL":"http://getpersonas-cdn.mozilla.net/","previewURL":"","iconURL":"","updateURL":""}]</nowiki></pre> -
new desktop, new user of Windows 7. Made Firefox my browser as always, with Yahoo as my home page. There is no tool bar at the top of my screen that says "File - Edit -- History __ etc the way I have always had! I can't figure out how to get this, and I need it! Help!!
Press the alt key next to the spacebar. Do you see it now? If so, click View -> Toolbars" and check the Menu bar. See [[Menu bar is missing]] for more information.

How do I get the "File, Edit, History, Bookmarks, Tools & Help Bar to appear on my browser. I also need my "Previous Page & Next Page" arrow... and my "Start" button to appear at the bottom of my screen. I can't navigate without these.
Be sure you are not in Full Screen Mode. The F11 key will toggle Full Screen Mode on or off. If you have no Firefox toolbars, tab bar, etc., you are probably in Full Screen Mode; your Windows Taskbar (with the "Start" button) will also not be visible.
*See --> http://kb.mozillazine.org/Netbooks#Full_screen
You can choose to use the Menu Bar (''File, Edit, History bookmarks, tools & help'') or the Firefox button menu in Firefox 4 and newer versions.
*See --> https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/common-questions-after-upgrading-firefox-36
The Back/Forward button (''Previous Page & Next Page" arrow'') are on the Navigation Toolbar; be sure the Navigation Toolbar is checked (to be displayed)
*See --> https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Back%20and%20forward%20or%20other%20toolbar%20items%20are%20missing
Windows Start button and Windows Taskbar:
*Be sure that "Auto-hide the taskbar" is '''''not checked''''' (if checked, moving the cursor pointer to the bottom of your monitor screen will cause it to slide up; it will disappear again when the cursor pointer is moved up from the bottom
*It is best to '''check''' "Keep the taskbar on top of other windows" so that application windows like Firefox cannot cover it.
*See --> http://windows.microsoft.com/bs-Latn-BA/windows-xp/help/keep-taskbar-visible

Delete Edit History in File Info?
I did a Save As of a .psd file to a .jpg. How do I avoid (or delete) the edit history metadata in the File Info of the .jpg file? I want to keep this metadata in the .psd file only.
thanx for the info. i noticed that it also deleted metadata that i had added: description, keywords, location data, doc title, and perhaps other data that i did not notice which is a concern. Is there not a way to just delete the edit history metadata from the file?

Lost editing history (Metadata?) during file transfer
I had a recent HD failure - luckily everything was backed up, but in transferring backed up data to new disk array I have somehow lost all my editing history. After transferring the files to the new disk, I opened the most recent catalog that was backed up and whilst I can access all the files, none of the old metadata is present.
I have been "fiddling" for a while trying to fix this, I suspect I have made it all worse but I have tried to synchronize folders in Library but to no avail.
Does anyone have a potential solution?
If it helps, I have about 32000+ photo files occupying about 640 GB, MAC OS Snow Leopard.
thanks in advanceIf you have synchronised meta data then you will have over written any meta data in the original catalog. If you wrote out your metat data to file then this shouldn't be a problem but will be if you didn't. You may want to try opening another older back up.

I can't restore my file,edit,history,bookmarks,tools and help
my file, edit, history, bookmarks, tools and help is missing
Hit the '''Alt''' key ''(Cmd for Mac)'' to show the Menu bar, then open View > Toolbars and select Menu bar, so it has a check-mark.

I lost my basic browser, I do not have file, edit, history etc. to view
At one time, I was able to view file, edit, history, bookmark etc on my browser, I think it went away when I changes the design background of the browser. Can you help me get it back?
Firefox 3.6+ versions have a feature to allow the user to hide the Menu bar.
Hit the '''Alt''' key to temporarily show the Menu bar, then open View > Toolbars and select Menu bar, so it has a check-mark. <br />
The F10 can also be used on most PC's to temporarily reveal the Menu bar.

Bridge CS4 edit history problem with OS change from XP to 7
I've changed my OS from XP to 7. After reinstalling software, Bridge CS4 no longer keeps my editing steps in the "edit history" metadata. The only steps recorded are that I've saved a file. I have the edit history box marked in preferences in both Bridge and PS, and have tried changing the metadata section in Preferences to session only, concise, and detailed. None of those choices make a difference. Any suggestions on how to get my edit history steps back in the metadata of Bridge? I use the edit history frequently! Thanks in advance!

At times I type in a site name on the command line which I want to visit. This goes into a file which is accessed by highlighting the triangle on the right side of command line. This file contains previous sites which were accessed in the past. How do I edit this file and and remove previous site URLs?
Use these steps to remove saved (form) data from a drop down list:
#Click the (empty) input field on the web page to open the drop down list
#Highlight an entry in the drop down list
#Press the Delete key (on Mac: Shift+Delete) to remove it.

How to start editing previously edited image files?
When NEF (raw files) in LR4 are edited, it generates two additional files: tiff and jpg (by "save as"). Later on, when I want to furhter edit those images, how do I start with? Obviously, I could re-edit from history panel of the orignal NEF file or tiff file using CS5. I wonder which approach is more efficient or convenient?
>.So TIF files or JPEG files are only created for a specific purpose. And once that purpose is fulfilled (e-mail, printing, etc.) That file is deleted. The only file I keep in most instances is the original >raw file. There is not a separate database for TIF files so I don't understand your question
I have a hummingbird folder and also its LR hummingbird catalog. Upon reading your post, I deleted all hummingbird tif files (which were generated when edited NEF files were sent to photoshop by "Edit In Photoshop CS5"0 from hummingbird folder. There is no single tif file in the folder. But I kept the original NEF and jpeg files.
When the hummingbird catalog was opened in LR4, the libray grid still shows all deleted tif images but with a question mark in the images, indicating that these tif files are missing.(see the attachment below).
This indicates that simply deleting tif files does not remove their database from the hummingbird catalog. This explains my previous question about how to delete all information related to tif files from hummingbird catalog database. . -
How to export catalog retaining flags and edit history
I need frequently to export photos with edits from my laptop and import those into my main computer catalog (Mac OS with LR5). I thought the Export catalog command permitted this but on my last import from such an exported catalog I find no flags or edit history has been retained (although star ratings and the final edit state are retained). I thought that was the point of the export catalog function (otherwise, I could simply copy the folders with the .xmp files and import those). Am I missing some setting? Thanks.
When you Export a number of images to CD/DVD Lightroom will automatically let you now how many discs are needed.
Your particular case seems to be, how to get the catalog on the discs aswell.
Try this.
Export all files to DVD via the usual export dialog. Now that you have a number of discs create a new catalog.
Catalog the discs and then burn that catlog to cd.
The result is a master cd with catalog and previews (very quick for one to flip through) and a selection of DVDs to which the catalog refers. -
WIN -- using edit history in metadata in PSElements 3
I have Elements 3 in windows XP. The metadata box shows an item called "edit history" but there's never anything in it. How do I get it to show the changes I've made to the photo, including slider %, etc, so that when I call up a saved file I can see the exact changes that I've made to the image?
It's all set up at defaults at the moment.
I'm interested in the fact that the Edit History is present in some images and not in others despite the fact that they are variations of each other, sized different or final sharpening etc.
What is the determining factor which triggers saving this data to metadata? -
I have been looking for a way to link renamed images in files to the original document, which is in a folder with a date and the image itself has the Nikon number (DSCxxxx). When I decide an image is ready to print, I copy it to a print folder on a different drive and rename it so it fits the image. I then lose the connection to the original file location or name.
I noticed today "Edit History". It is in some of the metadata, which I hadn't noticed before, but not all images. I placed a stitched image into the Print folder and the Edit data followed, which includes the the original file location and date, plus another line beneath which appears to be a time stamp. This gives basic traceability, which I have been looking for for a while now, except for one thing: Not all images have this history. In fact, some variations on the identical image have none, while others have it.
Assuredly, this isn't random, so what has to happen in prefs or otherwise to assure this history is always recorded and always transmitted? Why do some images, obviously edited and possessing a different ext (tif vs nef). I have prefs pretty consistent, so I don't know what I am doing different from image to image.
Any explanations, or a link to explaining/exploiting this process?
Thanks! It's all set up at defaults at the moment.

Retrieve the edits history on iPhoto
Sorry if someone has asked this question before, but I could not found any of the previous questions related to mine.
I need to get back the edits history on iPhoto for a bunch of images. For example, I need to know the saturation values (I can see it on the slider in edit mode), or the crop postions (top left, bottom right, for example, again, I can see it in crop mode) of the crop, etc. Since I saw these parameters in iPhoto edit mode, they must be stored somewhere in the database. However, I haven't found it in any file in iPhoto package (probably in the GUID code in albumdata.xml?). It is very easy to track back in picasa, which all the edits are stored in the .ini file. I know that Apple stores the original and the last modified version in separated folders, namely Original and Modified, but what I need is the parameters that I used before.
Please help! Thank you very much! Not directly
What version of iPhoto and of the OS do you have?
In edit mode you can go back one edit at a time and look at the settings - there is no documented way to view those settings without going back to that edit - if you can hack the SQLite database maybe you can
