Editing the system landscape

Hello all, I have 3 questions that I am posting separately.
1. Why can I no longer edit the system landscape from the project administration transaction as of release 3.2? And also, soes anyone have a clear explanation of how a Solution relates to a Project? I have been able to deduce a bit of this from the functions and behavior of the landscape transactions(e.g. you can maintain one system landscape for multiple projects), but would like to know what is the official intention of a Solution.

Thanks Juergen,
I see the point you are making, however, I still would prefer to select the logical components directly in the project administration transaction. The way you have to skip around the screens is cumbersome and confusing. If the logical component -> system assigment were done by the system administrator, then the project administrator could just pick the logical component. Anyway, this is the way it is designed...
Do you have any insight into the second part of my question - what a "Solution" is meant to encompass and where it is used? I know the Service Desk uses it as well as the project system landscape.
Regards,
Marcel

  • You do not have permission to view the System Landscape Directory.

    Hello there,
When I accessed my SLD from portal, it took me to the page but kept saying:
    - You do not have permission to view the System Landscape Directory. Minimum required: UME role with permission com.sap.lcr.LcrUser and J2EE role LcrUser. See the SLD Post-Installation Guide for details
    - SLD not configured; configure the SLD in Administration first.
I searched on these forums for the above error. Got some results, but nothing really substantial that has helped/fixed my problem.
I also read a bit on SLD from the pdf file named: System Landscape
    Directory of SAP NetWeaver 2004s
I also worked on the security roles and actions to individual
users or user groups like for ex: the above pdf file advised I map the security roles from Visual Administrator, to the created roles in the portal. I've done that too. Like create a user group: 'SAP_SLD_ADMINISTRATOR'  and create a user role corresponding to it, which would be: 'LcrAdministrator'
Then, I went to visual administrator, and clicked on 'Assign User Groups to Roles'
Even after this, I tried to access the SLD from portal: It is still giving me the same error I mentioned above in bold italics.
Can somebody please help me how to fix this issue?
    Thanks
    Dino.

    Graham:
Thank you very much for making the effort to reply to my query.
But, it still hasnt solved my problem yet.. for some reason even though I followed your instructions and did what you advised.
I have attached a screenshot of my Visual Administrator screen that you advised me to modify/change.
    Here it is: http://img166.imageshack.us/img166/2259/screenshot002co1.jpg
After I made the changes, I restarted the J2EE server and went to my portal SLD page: [http://org-x:50000/sld]
Tried authenticating usernames: LcrAdministrator and Administrator.
Both attempts resulted in the same error show below:
    - You do not have permission to view the System Landscape Directory. Minimum required: UME role with permission com.sap.lcr.LcrUser and J2EE role LcrUser. See the SLD Post-Installation Guide for details
    - SLD not configured; configure the SLD in Administration first.
I am wondering, if you would have another workaround regarding this issue, can you please let me know?
    Thanks
    Dino.

  • Can we edit the System Report queries to add some missing fields ?

    Hello,
I'm using SAP Business One 2005 A and I was wondering if there was a way to edit the system report queries.  Sometime, I'm only missing calculated fields in the existing report.  Something as easy as the difference between 2 dates is not working with the formula fields.
Instead of rewriting everything, could we simply see that original query and edit it to add the missing fields ?
I don't like the fact I can't add my own created report from a query in the main menu.  Since I couldn't do anything with the Backorder reports by default, I created mine with my own SQL query.  Can't I replace the existing one with my own ?
    Thank you
    Daniel Gagnon

    Hi Daniel,
You can edit a system query but then you can only save it as a user query (ie you cannot overwrite the system queries).
User queries can't be placed in the Main Menu using the standard GUI though you could add them to the User Menu tab so your users can get to them easily. I think to add them to the Main Menu would require the development of an add-on that updated the Main Menu and triggered the running of the query when the user clicked on the menu option.
The other thing to look at is using XL Reporter for your reports rather than the Query Generator. With XL Reporter you can automatically add reports to the main menu.
    Kind Regards,

  • Warning: Problems occurred during synchronization of the system landscape

    Hello
I have created systems in system landscape, TMS is working fine, all the configuration steps are completed successfully.
am working in Solution Manager 4, in project change -SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN - Project Administration - in 'System Landscape' tab  Change request  and when I activate change request management I am getting following messages:
    1. Warning: Problems occurred during synchronization of the system landscape
    2. The project is not released. Hence cycle can not be created.
Its bit urgent as I m in middle of this activity, please assist me on the same…
    Thanks
    Sharmishtha

    Hello Jason & Prakhar
Thanks for your quick response. I am basis person, and configuring this change request management for one of the project.
    Jason:
Will you please check with your basis person about these settings and let me know the same. I have set the settings as follows
    C= Development (source system)
    T = Quality
    P = Production
    Prakhar:
I have checked with all RFC connections are working fine, authorizations are also properly given.
I didn’t get your point No correctly defined maintenance project exists, I have already created project in project administration transaction, assigned the system landscape, I have activated project IMG in IMG Project and then going in change request tab to activate the change request management, where its giving me above error.
More over, as you have mentioned I am getting following message in SLG1:
“Project CHARM_GBW not found in the project administration table”
This is asking me to do following things:
Synchronize the project in Change Manager with the Solution Manager. Call the Solution Manager with the transaction SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN, and go to the 'System Landscape' tab, and then the 'Project Cycle' tab. Select the 'Change Request Management' field, and choose 'Refresh'. Project CHARM_GBW should then be available.
Where do I have to make entry for this?  I can see the entry in /TMWFLOW/PROJMAP table too. I don’t know what more I need to do for this.
Problem is I can’t see ‘Project Cycle’ tab in ‘System Landscape’.  Prakhar, frankly I am not able to find any step wise document on this part. So will you please help me with some documents on this? I am from technical side thus there is bit difficulty to understand this scenario from functional view.
I will be grateful for your help,
    Thanks
    Sharmishtha

  • Visualizing SAP XI routing configuration across the system landscape

    Hi Experts
Iam facing some challenges in visualizing SAP XI routing configuration across the system landscape (Development, Quality, Production). Basically routing is based on a field (technical target system). Depending on the environment we have different target systems (different Mainframe DB that represent the same target system) configured.
Any word/excel/ppt/pdf templates or any comments that could help visualizing routing would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks! Santosh

    Hi Santhosh,
If you are worrieed about how your Business Systems will change when you move from Dev to QA to PROD for the Configuration in your ID, then the answer is simple.
You can create transport target for your Business System and so when you migrate the ID objects from dev to Qa and so on, the business Systems will be automatically replaced.
Take a look at this blog,

  • Managing Consumer Proxies and related configuration in the System Landscape

    Hi,
I have successfully created and tested the Consumer proxy in our development server.
Scenario background: A Java Web Service has been developed and deployed on the Portal server which i am consuming in ECC6.0 in ABAP.
We would soon need to move it through the system landscape concerning which i have the following queries:
    1. The Consumer Proxy was created with the WSDL URL of the Development Portal server. I checked the Consumer proxy and did not find any signature of the WSDL URL in the Consumer proxy object generated. Can we therefore transport this consumer proxy to QA/Production without any issues?
    2. The Logical port configuration - What's the standard used in its maintenance across the landscape? Will we need to manually do it in every system? Can this also be made generic and transported across the landscape?
    regards
    Nitesh

    Hi,
Logical port you can create in two ways.
One using LPCONFIG and other is using the SOAMANAGEr.
When you create a logical port using LPCONFIG you get the Customizing transport request which is client dependent. you can move this to any land scape. Only the thing we need to do change in the port is just accessing URL.
But the latest transaction SOAMANAGER does't give any transport number. I guess there should be a way for this too. If not then there is only one choice left is configure on each client.
    Thanks,
    Kishore.

  • No system in the system landscape exports transport requests

    Hi gurus,
We are trying to implement the Change Request Management scenario in
    Solution Manager 4.0 SP12 in a POC.
The TMS are created with Solution Manager as Controller and with the settings are correct.
We have created a Maintenance Project with the following landscape :
system1 - Client 100 as Development System - Type of Rol "Source System"
system2 - Client 200 as Quality System - Type of Rol "Target System"
system2 - Client 100 as Production System - Type of Rol "Production System"
In the Change Request tab, when we check "Activate Change Request Management" checkbox, the following error is shown:
"System system2-100 is to be changed in a Solution Manager project, but no
system in the system landscape exports transport requests which are
    imported into this system."
    What is happening? Any idea??
    Thanks

The reason may be, that your "POC" is not valid due to the fact, that you use "clients" and not "systems" to transport
What you can try to verify that is - take out the QA client/system out of the transport route and try then to activate just with DEV --> PRD.
We wanted to setup something similar in the past and TMS failed to get configured properly - due to exact that reason.

  • APO - Basic settings for setting up the system landscape

    Hi,
I have a, hopefully small, issue regarding setting up the system landscape for our APO - R/3 environment.
In our test system in R/3 I need to specify the APO release, which is not a problem. The issue I have in R/3 is when I try to save the new setting. The system asks for a workbench request even if the test system has been "opened" by the Basis resource.
I would like to avoid creating a workbench request as we are using an external tool ( HP PPM ) for transport management and I believe I will get into trouble since this workbench request should not be transported further into our production environment. As I have understood from our APO experts the settings must be maintained per R/3 system (development - test/quality - production) as it is pointing to corresponding systems in the APO landscape.
The question is, does anyone know how we can maintain these settings without any workbench request being created?
This is perhaps not a APO question, but I'm not sure in what other forum I should post it.
    Thanks for any feedback
    Br,
    Lars

    Lars,
I have difficulty envisioning any situation when you would wish to make any transportable change (workbench or otherwise) in a test system.  The normal path would be to transport the change from the dev system into the test system.  I am unfamiliar with the third party software (HP PPM) about which you speak.  However, the standard controls currently used in your transport process (third party or otherwise) should limit which transports do and which transports do not get moved into your prod system.
I can think of several ways to approach this problem.  I think you should consult with your supervisor before attempting such changes, to ensure that you are complying with all policies and procedures that exist for your company.  In my company, this type of exception would require creation of special change management docs, and appropriate signoffs by management.
You are right this is not an APO question, it is a Basis question.  For advice on the technical aspect of your question, try one of the Basis forums.  Pick the one that is for the DBM you are using.

  • Can't find an SC at the CMS after creating it at the System Landscape

    Hello,
I am trying to implement SAP's Scenario 2 of the NWDI located at this URL:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/71/384c4005a99523e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
At the moment I am at the preparation section.
    I have finished succefully the
"Creating a Software Component in the SLD" part and now I am at the "Creating a Domain and Track in the CMS".
At this part you should *** the SC using the "Add SC..." button. When I click tthis button I see a lot of SC's yet I can't see mine. I tried filering by each one of the parameters and double checked all the parameters of the SC at the System Landscape yet I can't find it.
    Any idea why?

    Hello Pascal,
I assume you are fereffing to this post installation step:
Register the SLD Server in the SLD
    1. On the initial page of SLD, choose System Landscape
    ->Technical Landscape.
    2. In the Technical System Browser, choose New Technical System.
    A Technical System Wizard appears.
    3. In the Technical System Wizard, choose the option System Landscape Directory and
    then Next.
    4. On the next page, enter values for:
Web AS Java: The <SID> of this system
    Roles: Landscape Server
    CIM Server URL: http://<server>:<port>/sld/cimom
Object Server: The name of the object server of this SLD server (see also
    Activate the SLD Server)
    5. Choose Finish.
I have made this update at the installation process. In any case I have verified that it exists and it does yet I still see only 6.30 versions when I add dependencies to my SC. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

  • Setting Up the System Landscape for ESS

    Hello Experts,
I am implementing ESS in portal.
I am in step of defining systems in portal for ESS/MSS.
Below is link I am following from help.sap.com
    [Link|http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/en/5b/76a6d7fd3a4e91bfb422405bf3e04d/frameset.htm]
In above link it is mentioned that we have to define following systems :
    SAP_WebDynpro_XSS
    SAP_ECC_HumanResources
    SAP_ECC_Travel
    SAP_ITS_XSS
    SAP_BSP_EREC
Additionaly according to below Article in SDN :
    [Link|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/21eb036a-0a01-0010-25a3-b2224432640a?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true]
Following additional systems must be created :
SAP_ITS_EBU Looks similar to SAP_ITS_XSS above
    SAP_R3_Financials
Now the basis person in my project has handed over to me following systems :
    SAP_BSP_EREC
SAP_ITS_FND Name mismatch as FND is used in place of XSS or EBU
    SAP_R3_Financials
SAP_WebDynpro_ESS Name mismatch as ESS is used in place of XSS
Now below two systems are altogether missing as per first link on help.sap.com
    SAP_ECC_HumanResources
    SAP_ECC_Travel
Please explain if it requires to be corrected or name mismatch and missing ststems would do.
    Thanking you in anticipation.

All the above names that you are referring to are not necessarily separate systems.
These are system aliases for a system object created in your portal via System Administration - System landscape.
So, if you have HR and Finance on the same backend server, then you need only one system with the related system aliases.
You will need SAP_BSP_EREC only if you are planning on using E-recruitment.
Similarly, you will need SAP_ITS_XSS  only if you are planning on using any ITS applications.
It is pretty straight forward to change/correct the names of your system aliases instead of changing the usage of these aliases every where else.
    SAP_ECC_HumanResources is absolutely necessary.
SAP_ECC_Travel is required if you are planning on using travel and expense related applications.
Also, note that SAP_WebDynpro_XSS should be the alias of the system where your webdynpro applications are deployed (typically the same portal server)

  • I am not getting the Portal Content inside the System Landscape

    Hi,
I am not getting the Portal Content inside the System Administrations-> System Configuration->System Landscape. This is not visible. I am SAP NetWeaver 7.0.
What could be the possible reasons?
    Regards
    Kaushik Banerjee

    Kaushik,
do you have the full tree in Contentadmin? do you have no entry in the systemadmin? or is it just empty in the lower nodes? this would be normal, you don't see the content in systemadmin, just the defined systems.

  • Can I edit the system file Manifest.XML in Word for Windows? (there's a reason for doing this)

I renamed a file directory containing several PDFs. Consequently, Adobe Digital Editions says these files are missing when I try to open them and look at notes I made. There seems to be an obvious solution, but I'm unfamiliar with XML and don't want to screw things up. The file locations and a lot of other information for Digital Editions is in an XML file called Manifest. If I can edit the XML file to show the correct directory, I expect I'd be able to see these files and recover my notes. I'm unsure what Word for Windows may do (e.g., add or delete characters) when I edit and save the new Manifest.  That might corrupt the Manifest and be extremely counterproductive.
Is editing the file locations in Word for Windows safe, so long as Digital Editions isn't open when I do my editing?

I can confirm that Notepad++ can happily edit manifest.xml files, but as Jim_Lester says, make a backup (especially if you are not used to XML).
You may well find that if you Open the .epub files from their new location explicitly from ADE (ctrl-O) that you will both be able to read documents and see the notes.
I can't vouch for that; but if it works I'd recommend it over editing the manifest file.
