EHP 7 Upgrade - Position 99999999 isn't in table T528B

We recently upgraded to ECC 6 EHP 7 and noticed that we can no longer create personnel records. We don't use HCM for anything other than creating our sales reps as personnel numbers.
In our non-upgraded system we're able to create a personnel # without issue but in our EHP 7 system it returns error message "Entry S 99999999 does not exist in T528B (check entries)". Sure enough the position isn't in table T528B but it never has been.  At this point we're not sure if the issue is that the Position is missing or if it's a related Personnel SubArea issue. In our non-upgraded system a Personnel Sub Area of 1000 is defaulted through a Dynamic Action but in EHP 7 it no longer seems to be getting populated. The field is greyed out so I can't enter it manually but nothing is entered.
We have gone to OSS and have been given several pieces of advice, none of which has worked. First off we were instructed to maintain an actual position as the default. That didn't work.
To do this I went to SM30 and for table T77S0 and for the PLOGI PRELI
value tried to replace 99999999 with 50000138. The system returns an
error of which the long text is:
Specify a valid value
Message no. 5B190
Diagnosis
No position which actually exists in PD (in the file PLOG) may be
entered as a 'default position', since it only displays a symbolic
position.
1. If you are editing the entry PLOGI PLOGI:
The entry PLOGI PRELI already contains a position number which
exists in
the required plan version. Please cancel your entry.
Before entering the plan version, you must enter a position number
according to PLOGI PRELI that does not already exist in this plan
version.
2. If you are editing the entry PLOGI PRELI:
Please enter a value for which no position was created in the
integration plan version (you will find this in T77S0 - entry PLOGI PLOGI); Also check whether the PLOGI PLOGI entry is correct.
Next we were asked to populate the BTRTL value through user exit ZXPADU01 however that only can change data in structures PREL and PREF neither of which has BTRTL in it.
A popular solution on SCN seems to be the use of dynamic actions, which we did actually use but OSS has come back and said "
The value is getting pushed in both ofyour systems by a dynamic action in table V_T588Z. Unfortunatley thiskind of propsing default values is not the correct way and is working in your TRN system accidently. Dynamic actions are designated for creating Infotypes dynamically during any action but are not suitable for updating Infotype 0001 with default values.
At the end of the day none of us have any real experience with HR/HCM as the only thing we use it for is creating sales reps as personnel #'s and it's been working fine for the past 15 years.  Now all of a sudden we upgrade to EHP 7 and it doesn't seem to work and the normally suggested solution that is on SCN seems to no longer work and neither do OSS's solution.  Can anyone help us default in the Personnel Sub Area when creating a new Personnel # through PAL1.  I'm not 100% sure that will cause the 9999999 default position issue but I have a feeling it will, or at the very least get us past one part of the problem.
Is there a valid user exit that we can default BTRTL through or some other way? I read another SCN thread that stated "The Position will often default the Personnel Area and Personnel Sub-Area in IT0001, from it's IT1008 values." but don't know really what IT0001 or IT1008 is and additionally wonder if the default position of 99999999, again which doesn't exist in T528B could be edited.  Any help is greatly appreciated and please be as detailed as possible as we literally have no first hand experience with any part of HCM.

Yesterday I reviewed dozens of notes and seems I missed 1317551, this is SAP answer for my issue. Second one - 1278517 - and many others I read yesterday.
Yesterday I found one 334477 (from 2001) which also confirmed my point of view.
What for I need these entries - just to process my current processes. Problem is that someone how developed this piece of code forgot to check whether functionality is activated and then call function. In my case I just need these entries to go through that function (without error). Afterwards there is a check of flag in requisition, but it's always empty as I don't use it. Anyway logic in SAP is something confusing and hard to explain it.
You make my day – thank you for that.. I can close thread unless you have something to add?

  • EHP 7 upgrade & Mopz in Solman 7.1 SP 8

    Hi Everyone,
    I am currently working on EHP 7 upgrade for my ECC 6 EHP 6 system. I began my work in ECC with SLD data push and SMSY, LMDB config, in Solman now moved on with MOPZ config to download EHP SPS. I have a query here, is it important to have the entire system data updated with SMSY and LMDB in Solman? i understand that MOPZ checks the current system Patch level from SMSY/LMDB and based on our target selection it calculates and recommends. just wondering how exactly it happens!. Bacause we have our BO system and few other non SAP systems in the landscape that are not updated with the SMSY/LMDB but they also should be considerd for the upgrade to check if there are dependencies.
    so my question is, do we have to push data from non sap also and maintaine in SMSY and LMDB before we perform EHP SPS download from MOPZ?
    other question is, if we perform upgrade in a ECC Sandbox environment (usually a copy of Production), it is not necessary to have sandbox for Portal, PI and other systems. so what is the recommended approach here? do we have to select the Developement  ECC system from MOPZ so that we will have other Dev systems (PI, Portal.,..etc) present in the SMSY & LMDB and MOPZ recommendation will be perfect?

    Instead of reviewing SMSY, you should switch over to the LMDB as it is the future for system data in SolMan.
    The reason its telling you ERP 6.0 SPS25 is because it is not taking into account your Ehp, SAP still has to support customers who haven't taken the Ehp (perhaps unicode issues, 32 bit to 64 bit, etc) so this is a way to compare.  I found a bar graph that explained this in a very simple picture, however I can't find it online and leads me to believe I read/saw it in a book.  Also think of this my company is currently updating ECC from Ehp 5 SPS 4 to Ehp7 SPS 4, the SPS are the same due to the Ehp change and resetting the SPS counter back to 0, but in mopz I believe it shows SPS 28 or 29 for ECC 6.0; so essentially there is nothing you can or need to fix for the system data.  If this is still confusing I will try to track down the bar graph example I saw.
    As for logical components you can create your own (and is advised to do so as SAP could remove entries on you during a SolMan upgrade) so you could list it as z_ERP or zEhpERP or z_ECC; however it makes sens to you and your co-workers/customer, when you manage the system and the button that allows you to configure the system, the first section in the new window stays red until you assign a logical component to the system.  So you might already have something assigned to the system(s).
    SAP doesn't list it as BO, and I'm not sure if you can run a successful mopz on BO systems; if you leverage the PAM at SAP you can track down dependencies.  I also believe Process Orchestration is only 7.3/7.31/7.4 which is compatible with Ehp 7.

    Hi,
    I don't see any partcular method in cl_wd_table_column class for setting column position ( in ALV for class cl_salv_wd_column we have one method for this set_postion ).
    What you can do probably as a workaround is to remove all columns (remove_all_columns of cl_wd_table ) nad then add columns again in code ( new_table_column method of class cl_wd_table_column and then using add_column of cl_wd_table) in whatever order you want.
    Let's see if others can come up with some straightforward solution.

    In Web Dynpro Java, Is it possible to provide user a functionality with which he/she can move the columns of a table from one position to another ?
    Scenario : Users want flexibility to decide the location the columns as per their convinience while they are working with the application.
    So can we develop some code or can we use some UI element so that user is able to drag a column from one position to another within the table.

    Yes this is possible you can try to move the table columns (Change the order). for this you don't need to do additional coding or property change its a default property for web Dynpro java tables.

  • LSMW create positions without updating table T528B?

    I created many positions by LSMW,
    but, in PA40, I can't assign a person to any one of these LSMW-created positions, system says "position xxxxxxxx is not available in T528B",
    I've set integration between PA & OM, if I manually created position in PPOME or PP03, the manually created position could be assigned in PA40
    So, how could it happen? SAP's bug or our system's bug?
    I have to run report RHINTE10 to update T528B.

    Please check if value of p0001-otype is missed in IT0001.
    Regarding such case, you need to do integration between PA and PD.
    For example:
    1) Turned on integration (PLOGI ORGA "X") (same result with integration off in step 2-4)
    2) Conversion of organisational structure (O, O-O, O-K) via IDoc
    3) Conversion of PA-data via IDoc; one infotype at the time in the following order: IT0, IT1, IT2, IT3, IT302. No position entered in IT1
    4) Conversion of position and relations to org units and cost centers and jobs via IDoc
    5) RHINTE10 report to update new org units and positions (and jobs) I have also tried this step after step 6 (makes no difference)
    6) Turned integration off (PLOGI ORGA " ")
    7)Conversion of relation from the position to the person (A008 rel.)
    8) Turned integration on again (PLOGI ORGA "X")
    9) Run RHINTE30 for the converted persons.
    The above is just an example for your reference. For more detail, you need refer to the documentation for integration

  • EHP 7 upgrade - Got stuck at Pre-processing - urgent help required

    hi Everyone,
    I am upgrading my current ECC 6 EHP 6 system to EHP7. I got stuck in the Pre-processing phase "imports included Add-on and Support Packages into the shadow tables and the new tables". there is no error but it is runnign for more than 15 hours now. i dont even see a latest log showing its progress. The logs got updated 14 hours ago and there is no update after that.
    The shadow instance was down. Main instance is up and running and no Jobs running. I manually started the shadow instance and checked if that will help . but no use. so restarted the SUM tool. it gives a different problem now. I have listed out the current probelms below. please check and advise
    1. SUM tool shows, "ABAP- Starting handshake" - SAPUP.Out erro message (ERROR in GUI communication: Error in network interface: NIEINVAL (0/53 written))
    2.Shadow instance up and running but while trying to login from GUI,it says "rabax during SAPGUI logon". i can see all its WP in 'waiting' status at the OS level
    3.in DB02, "oldest Open Transaction" shows Aug 15 2014 10:30 PM, which means this transaction is there at the DB level for more than 16 hrs now.
    Please help trouleshoot and resolve this. useful inputs will be rewarded immediately

    I have resolved the 1st issue, after killing the SAPup process at os level.
    now, in the SUM tool, it gives the following info,

    If additional processes are still running or background jobs are active, the

    02)  *  Check status again
    03)  -  Processes do not exist, continue
    04)  -  Wait for processes to finish
    : Check status again
    TP program is running at OS level. but as already said, no background job runnig in Main instance and the shadow instance was already down. shal i kill this TP process and try with option 03) ?

  • ERP 6.0 EHP 4 upgrade- How long to choose to wait before entering downtime?

    Wondering if anyone has relevant downtime minimized experiences to share on how long an ERP 6.0 EHP4 production system upgrade can/should wait to confirm phase DOWNCONF_TRANS (at end of the upgrade Preprocessing roadmap) before choosing to enter actual downtime?
    We are on our final production system upgrading a simple ERP 2004 only landscape to ERP 6.0 EHP 4 (NW 7.01) running on the IBM i 6.1 platform and could be ready to wait at DOWNCONF_TRANS for actual downtime to start for up to two weeks to meet non-technical business needs.  As the IBM i platform doesn't support Incremental Table Conversion (ICNV) it doesn't seem any harm to get this preparation work done early and wait until the optimal business downtime opportunity to enter downtime...
    Anyone have actual experience (or a SAP recommendation) on a "well resourced, moderate load" IBM i production system waiting a week or more before starting downtime as above?

    I thought I'd follow up on the key point Markus made for other forum readers with the same question-
    "You have to take into account that once you entered the copy phase (where the shadow system is built) no more transports may run into production (the TMS will be locked). That means that you'd have a full week without the possibility to do changes to the system."
    The Upgrade Guide for SAP ERP 6.0 EHP4 SR1 ABAP specifically calls out "You may not perform any more transports into or out of the SAP system" after confirming Preprocessing Roadmap phase LOCK_PRE (ABAP Workbench Locking) or at the latest phase REPACHK2.  As Markus points out once you confirm either Preprocessing phase above you will NOT be able to import production support transports so determine your business support needs timing carefully before confirming these key phases.
    Volker's timeline comment to have at least a few days to resolve any upgrade uptime issues makes sense too- ultimately it is up to the Basis team to work with the business team to find the best compromise balance of "no transports while waiting for downtime" vs "having time to fix any upgrade process issues" when you have a firm production downtime date to meet.

  • SAP FTP Binary Does not work after EHP 7 Upgrade

    Since EHP 7, if I try to execute an external command through sm49, which has a shell script for ftp connection and fetching files, the 'binary' command after ftp connection is not working.
    Result? I'm fetching corrupted files once in a while. The same was fine before the upgrade. The script runs fine at OS level. We are using AIX.
    Did anyone see this issue before? Is there a solution?
    Please help, it's quite urgent.

    1) What is the exact error message you get ?
    2) Did you check permission to the script . Ensure sidadm has full access to execute it.
    3) Did you check Test Connection to TCP/IP RFC destinations SAPFTP and SAPFTPA are working fine in SM59 ?

  • After Mavericks upgrade Time Machine isn't Backing up anything

    Hi Folks,
    after being a happy newly upgraded Imac (late2010) to OS X Mawericks, in the last days I'm angry because I'm not able to obtain a valid backup with Time Machine on a 1TB Time Capsule.
    Since the middle of last week something happened and backups do NOT finish, time machine hangs for hours.
    I get weird results and reponses from what I see on time machine preferences screen.
    It starts backing up let's say 180MB, the first 100MB are saved in a reasonable time,then the amount of data that needs to be saved increases to maybe 212MB
    but the amount of what is already being saved reaches for ex. 130MB then everything is slowing down... Time to finish backup is to be calculated again and there it stays... Hangin for hours, days... Sometimes finally time machine gives an error saying backup couldn't be completed.
    I've tried also to connect timecapsule via ethernet cable, (thinking of a wifi problem) same things happen!!!
    Tried to delete whole time capsule backup (anyway no valid backups are shown also older ones from a later date than Mavericks update).
    Tried yesterday a disk check with disk utility over wifi and the TC disk is perfect!!
    Today I want to try with a USB direct attached Disk, but I have a feeling the problem isn't the HD.
    I was looking also for clearing Time Machine Cache, DB or something like that.
    I'm worried that something would happen to my internal disk during this time with no backup!!!
    Any clue, advice or things to test??

    Bought an USB Disk to backup and it Worked! ...at least I have a Backup.
    I left Timecapsule inside TimeMachiine configuration to be used alternating with USB disk and doing Backup, unfortunately there no Backup has finished. Most of the times I've needed to stop since it was hanging, some other times I've got an error Message.

        The termination occurred in ABAP program "SAPLFAGL_ITEMS_SELECT", in
    "FAGL_GET_ITEMS_BSEG". The main program
        was "FAGL_ACCOUNT_ITEMS_GL ".
        In the source code, the termination point is in line 412 of (Include)
        program "LFAGL_ITEMS_SELECTU08".

    Check this SAP note1578577 - FAGLL03: Dump DBIF_RSQL_INVALID_RSQL. Another one is 1728986. Cannot check further as I am not aware of exact patch level.
