EIGRP Wide-metric support

It appears EIGRP only sends the classic-scale-metrics while operating in non-named configuration mode (E.G. router eigrp # ) AND Always sends the wide-metric format while operating in Named Configuration mode (E.G. router eigrp ROCKS) regardless of the 15.2 IOS version.
When my router is running in Named config mode, sh eigrp protocols reveals K6=0,
when I remove the Named config and use the legacy router eigrp # config mode, the same sh eigrp protocols does not list the K6=0 value (only K1 - K5).
The reason I ask is the Cisco white paper (EIGRP Wide Metrics) dated Nov 2012, states if a legacy EIGRP peer is interfacing with a new EIGRP peer, the new EIGRP peer will send both formats. - Is this doc outdated by a newer doc?

Update- The original title should be referred to as EIGRP Virtual-Instance (that does support the legacy 32-bit metric and just might also support the 64-bit wide metrics; depending on your configuration).
Viewing the show command (Show command 1) based on EXAMPLE CONFIG 1 below, it's clear the K6 value is not used; only the K1 - K5 values.
If address-family vrf was implemented, as shown in EXAMPLE 2, it's clear the new wide-metric is in effect.
The question still remains, how does an EIGRP peer configured to recognize link speeds greater than 10Gbps interact with EIGRP peers that are not operating in 64-bit mode? What do the configurations look like for each of the peers?

  • Enable System Wide DEP Support via command line

    Hello all, I am trying to deploy EMET to our organization, but I notice on my test installation on a Windows 7 PC, systemwide DEP was not enabled by default. I figured I can activate this through the command line, but I seem to be running into some trouble.
    It looks like the command line that I want to use is:
    emet_conf --system [--force] SysMitigation=State [SysMitigation=State ...]
    However, I have tried all the different combinations of variables to turn on DEP using this command line, and I keep hitting a brick wall. Has anyone else been able to successfully turn on DEP from the command line?

    Try:
    emet_conf --system DEP=AlwaysOn
    Be careful because if you use BitLocker it will ask the recovery key on next boot (you'll need he --force switch). Also make sure to test that setting because there might be some app-compat issues with applications that do not support DEP.

    wchar and wstring are not supported types in the IDL. So how can i achieve my requirements using

    If you are use Java Use char (see WLE documentations for detail mapping explainations.) If you are using C++ only work around I see is using IDL type long (CORBA::Long).
    WChar are always reprsented as 16-bit Unicode character. That means Unicode can represent 65,536 (2^16) characters.
    Convert values from long to wchar on client end.

  • Has anyone dealt with World Wide Tech Support?

    Just looking for some feedback here because I have my doubts...
    I scheduled an appointment through AppleCare for on-site service. They sent a tech from WWTS who never worked on a Mac, by his own admission. He tried to pry the case apart for about 45 minutes and made 4 calls to his supervisor for instructions. To make a long story very short, by the time he had the case off and had trouble disconnecting the cables, I told him to just close it up and have them send a rep who knew Macs.
    Has anyone else had an experience with WWTS? Good, bad or indifferent. Just trying to get a handle on who/what these folks are.

    Yes, I've done that and more. I'm sitting here with a zeroed out HDD, a major headache and no callback from WWTS which was promised. I'm dealing with that at my end I can assure you.
    But I'm interested specific feedback on this AASP(?), if anyone has some.

    Metric calculation of EIGRP:
    [(10,000,000 / 1544) +2000 ] * 256 =(6476+2000)*256=8476*256=2169856
    This value is mismathed with EIGRP calculated metric(i.e 2297856). Please someone figerout if some thing I have missed during calculation.

    Metric = 256*[10^7/BW(min)] + [sum of delay]/10
    Metric = 256*[10^7/1544] + (20000+5000)/10]
    Metric = 256*[6476+2500]
    Metric = 2297856
    We see the minumum bandwidth to reach the destination  is 1544Kbps
    Default delay on the link to reach the destination (serial link) is 20000 microseconds.
    Default delay of the loopback interface is 5000 microseconds.

  • WiDi on the W520 and Windows 8

    I have W520 and I am trying to get Intel WiDi working on Windows 8. In the past I was using WiDi on Windows 7 with no problems, but since I upgraded to Windows 8 I am unable to get it working. I installed the latest version of PRO Wifi (Wireless_15.5.6_e64), I have the latest version of the GPU driver (9.17.10.2932), the latest version of Intel My WiFi (Intel_My_WiFi_Dashboard_15.5.6_e64) and I installed the latest version of WiDi that supports SandyBridge (3.0.13.0 for Windows 7). Intel Update tells me I should install the latest version (3.5.40.0 with Windows 8 support), but it checks my hardware and tells me it is not compatible. How should I get it working?     Hi, I finally figured out what was the problem - for some reason the latest WiDi setup that is supposed to be compatible with Windows 8 drivers failed to detect the Intel HD card when the Optimus mode was enabled (due to Lenovo's vcamsvchlpr.exe the nVidia card was always active right after the startup when the laptop was docked and it did not help to just end this task and deactivate the nVidia GPU, I had to disable Optimus in BIOS). The error message shown by the setup was a bit misleading (it told me that my system is not compatible and that I should use an older driver which installed fine), but at least I got it to install. Now I am facing a different issue as it tries to connect and when the connection succeeds it immediately disconnects and tells me to reboot. I'll try to solve that by uninstalling/reinstalling the WiDi later. Thanks for your help anyway.

    With Windows 8 it was ok and worked fine, but in the instruccions for upgrading it said to remove Intel widi.

    You misunderstood this info.
    Intel WiDi isnt supported in Win 8.1 on Toshiba notebooks BUT instead of Intel WiDi you can use Miracast.
    But Intel WiDi is not Miracast.
    Intel WiDi was developed by Intel.
    Miracast is an standard supported by developed by WiFi Allianz and Intel is a part of this Allianz
    Windows 8.1 as well as Android 4.2 support the Miracast standard.
    But this does not mean that you can use it always you need the compatible hardware parts.
    In case your TV would not support Miracast standard, you will not be able to use it

    While evaluating BPEL PM I came across problem with links which connect activities within flow activity. By my experience (I'm testing on quite large process) links aren't followed (and trasitionCondition aren't check too). Even if , it can not be seen at yours debuging enabled webapp.
    The question is how wide is support for spec 1.1

    Links are definitely supported by the BPEL server. We ship a few examples in c:\orabpel\references. It is difficult to help troubleshoot this problem without a more detailed understanding of BPEL process? Can you pacakge and email[1] us this sample so that we can try to reproduce it locally?

  • Is accelerometer support for keyboard position available for SMS or IM?

    I have been a RIM Blackberry user for about 10 yrs. I finally jump the ship (and carrier)and got 3g iPhone. It is a great device.
    However one thing I absolutely hates is the typing on iPhone. I am used to typing with both thumbs when I was using BB. I only see accelerometer rotated keypad in few applications on iPhone. Unfortunately none of SMS or IM type application uses horizonal axis keypad (which will be extremely helpful). I figure that is when you could maximize real estate of keypad.

    I came from a Blackberry too, and I regularly type with two thumbs on the iPhone. I had to first learn how to trust the auto-correction. I just type away and more often than not, it gets everything just as I expected. Knowing that, even if you only come "close" to the letter you want, it'll be right, helped my speed greatly.
    After that, I just needed to practice. I started out as the video suggested... with an index finger getting used to the layout. Now, if I ever have the iPhone on it's side in Safari and the WIIDE keyboard comes up, I flip it back vertical because my muscle memory is so used to the narrow keyboard, trying to switch between the two is a hassle (especially because, in the wide view, my thumbs has to move SOOO FAAARR).
    Sorry, didn't answer your question... no, there's no wide keyboard support for SMS or IM. One workaround might be to use the browser version of an IM client.

    As per the Cisco Feature Navigator output, this switch model does not support  BFD.

  • Oracle ODP Support and ODP vs DEVART

    Hello,
    I work with some vendor software that uses the ODP driver for it's .net application to talk to oracle. In there next release they are discontinuing ODP support claiming that oracle has chosen to no longer support this driver. The vendor is instead pushing us to use this [ devart|http://www.devart.com/dotconnect/oracle/] as a work around and they claim this should give us equal or better performance.
    My questions are:
    1. Is oracle really not supporting the ODP driver in the future (I couldn't find any indication of this on the web)
    2. What is the trade of between using the ODP driver or the direct DEVart connection? I would appreciate if you could share your similar experiences with me.

    I'm an Oracle .NET product manager, so I am coming from a biased perspective.
    With that said, ODP.NET has a number of performance/availability features that DevArt doesn't have: RAC connection pooling (i.e. load balancing, Fast Connection Failover), statement caching, self-tuning, and promotable transactions. DevArt has features that ODP.NET doesn't have as well.
    Which provider one chooses often depends on how important each unique feature is to the customer. ODP.NET is by far the most popular Oracle .NET provider, not just due to its wide feature support, but due to a number of business reasons customers find important:
    1) ODP.NET licenses and support costs are already included in the price of the Oracle DB. There is no extra charge.
    2) There is one support organization to deal with. Thus, the logistics of resolving and coordinating complex service requests is easier.
    3) Oracle is large multinational company. Oracle is going to be around a long time to continue to develop and support ODP.NET. DevArt is small privately-held company based in the Ukraine. Not much information is available about the company's financials. What happens if the company goes bankrupt or is sold and the new owners discontinue the Oracle provider?
    4) ODP.NET is very popular. Thus, Oracle will support and improve it for a long time. It's not known how popular or financially viable DevArt's Oracle provider is for them.
    5) If you need to work closely with Oracle, you can call, visit a branch office around the world, or even have Oracle come on-site. DevArt's support is email only. They do not list a single phone number or office address on their website.
    6) As the most popular Oracle .NET provider available, ODP.NET is very stable, as it is being used a in wide variety of applications.

  • Wide Gamut Displays with OSX

    I guess this is the most appropriate forum for this question.
    There are now a lot of wide-gamut monitors out in the market. In non color-aware applications, the colors on these monitors look terribly over-saturated. In a color-aware application, like Photoshop or Firefox 3, things look fine.
    OS X itself doesn't seem to be color-aware. Most noticeable are the Close / Minimize / Expand buttons in the corner, the red and green are awful. Even after calibrating, things still look bad.
    Are there any plans to make OS X more color aware, so that when a wide gamut monitor is used, correct colors are displayed?

    I guess I can only hope that they will address the issue with Snow Leopard. As far as 1920x1200 resolution, professional-quality, standard-gamut IPS monitors go the pickings are pretty **** slim. You can either get the Apple Cinema Display with its single input, or you can get the NEC 2490 with its high cost and internal hardware that adds input lag. All other options are wide-gamut.
    I feel like crying I'm not a software dev but c'mon, the open source Firefox 3 has got it down just fine, how hard is it to add wide-gamut support to the otherwise excellent OS X?
