EJB Client timing out with PeerGoneException

Environment: WLS 6.1 SP4 on WIn2K.
We have an ejb client calling a StatelessSession bean on the server. From
time to time, if there's a large amount of data
coming across (eg. 5 Meg and above ) the call, invariably we'd get a
PeerGone Exception.
eg.. mySessionEJB.logHistory( String logMsg)
Is there a way to increase the timeout on the call?

Hello
1) The web app is JSP based portal , which sends requests to another server using SOAP as a protocol.
2) The test client in this case , has been developed by us, which just sends requests to the using simple urls . In other words the client simulates a user accessing a JSP page, and requesting information.
3) The request being sent by the client , are to get the data stored on the Back end server. Each request has a specified timeout , configurbel using the web.xml file. In this case we have specified a very large value 0f about 3 hours ( which should be sufficient in most cases ). If the client does not get back the data within the specified time there are two causes
1) The request has not been sent to the back end server
2) The Back end server has not responded within the specified time
But on comparing the CPU usages, the back end server seems to be almost idle. whereas the Application server is consuming close to 100% CPU continuously.
thanks

  • Qmaster error: shared storage client timed out while subscribing to...

    Here's my Qmaster setup:
    computer 1: CONTROLLER, no nodes
    - 8TB RAID hooked up via Fiber
    - connected to the GigE network switch via a 6-port bond
    - cluster storage set to a path on the RAID
    computers 2, 3, 4, 5: RENDER NODES
    - each computer has a 2-port bonded connection with the GigE switch
    computer 6: Client, with FCS2 installed.
    - connected with a single GigE link
    I have set up this cluster primarily for command-line renders, and it works great. I submit command-line renders from the client computer, which get distributed and executed on each node. The command line renders specify a source file on the RAID, and a destination path on the RAID. Everything works great.
    I run into trouble when trying to use Compressor with this same setup. The files are on the RAID, and all my computers have an NFS automount that puts it in the /Volumes folder on each computer.
    I set up my Compressor job and submit it to the cluster. It submits sucessfully, and distributes the work. After a few seconds, each node gives me a timeout error:
    "Shared storage client timed out while subscribing to [computer1.local/path to cluster storage]"
    Is this a bandwidth issue? Command line renders work fine, I can render 16 simultaneous Quicktimes to the RAID over NFS. I don't see much network activity on any of the computers when it's trying to start the Compressor render, it's as if it's not even trying to connect.
    If I submit the SAME compressor job to a cluster with nodes ONLY on the controller computer, it renders fine. Clearly the networked nodes are having trouble connecting to the share for some reason.
    Does anybody have any ideas? I have tried almost everything to get this to work. Hooking up each node locally to the RAID is NOT an option unfortunately.

    WELL I DO NOW!
    Thanks. it's taken 6th months and several paid 'professionals' and then you come in here...swinging your minimalist genius. one line. one single line. and its done.
    if you are in london, lets lift a beer or five together.
    thank you sir. thankyou!

  • Shared storage client timed out error

    Hello everybody, please help
    I have been at this now for about 2 days and still can't find out the source of my issue using FCP to render a project through compressor to multiple macs using Qmaster.
    What is happening is that I start the render and it gets sent to the second computer, I can see the prosessor ramping up then after (+-) 30 seconds I get the error bellow, and the render fails.
    Here is my set up:
    MacBook1 as the cluster controller
    Macbook2 as the service node
    connected via a gigabyte switch using an ethernet cable
    The error I keep getting is this ("Macintosh-7" is the name of MacBook1, "chikako-komatsus-computer" is the name of MacBook2):
    3x HOST [chikako-komatsus-computer.local] Shared storage client timed out while subscribing to "nfs://Macintosh-7.local/Volumes/portable/Cluster_scratch/4AD40699-B5BD6A1A/sha red"
    The volume mentioned above in the error is a shared Fire wire drive connected to the MacBook1. It is have full read and write privileges to everyone. This drive is where the project file and all the source video are located. MacBook1 via the Qmaster system preferences is pointing to a folder "Cluster_scratch" on this drive.
    I have been mounting this drive from macBook2 using the connect to sever option in the finder under Go menu. This method seems to only enable me to connect to this drive using AFP, is this my problem?
    I have "allowed all incoming traffic" of the fire wall on the MacBook1
    What is funny (not really) is that i can Compress a previously compiled video with the cluster If I don't go thou Final Cut Pro!
    Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    I also administer a managed cluster with 6 machines, and have been using it successfully for almost a year now. But the only encoding that is submitted is directly through Compressor, never via FCP.
    With QMaster, it sees a Quickcluster and a managed cluster the same way. While they are set up differently, the principle is the same, QMaster only sees services.
    Exporting out of FCP to any cluster has always been slow. If you want to harness the power of distributed encoding, you could export a Quicktime reference file and take that into Compressor to be submitted to the cluster for encoding.

    If you are installing on Windows, there is a limitation in the default configuration of TCPIP. I wrote about it, and included the steps to fix it, on my blog at http://timtows-hyperion-blog.blogspot.com/2007/12/essbase-api-error-fix-geeky.html.
    Note the error number you reported is slightly different than what I write about in the blog, but I believe I have seen this error fixed by the blog steps..

    I have the same problem as the posts above. There are no conclusions for above posts, does anyone here know how to fix this problem as it seems very common.
    In my situation, I'm sure essbase is setup well and everything ran well. I started using IR connecting to essbase and done about 10 reports.
    Until today, I am trying to test these reports by sending huge amount of data to Essbase.

  • "Connection timed out" with HttpClient.

    Hi,
    My goal is to consume a web service using Apache AXIS. This web service uses Integrated Windows Authentication.
    I use IE have configured Proxy server address and Proxy server port using IE's Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections Tab -> LAN Settings -> Proxy serer.
    If type the webservice endpoint address of the form http://239.271.380.120/serveme/WS.asmx in my browser then I see in my browser "You are not authorized to view this page .. HTTP Error 401.2 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to server configuration. Internet Information Services (IIS)" but there is another client in another network who is getting a login dialog to enter domain\\username and password when he types the web service endpoint address in the browser. This makes me think that either the so called another client is in the same domain as the web service provider and I am not.
    Anway, I tried to write standalone HttpClient (I use commons-httpclient-3.0-rc3, commons-codec-1.3, commons-logging-1.0.4) program NTCredentialsClient.java like below :
    NTCredentialsClient.java
    import org.apache.commons.httpclient.*;
    import org.apache.commons.httpclient.auth.*;
    import org.apache.commons.httpclient.methods.*;
    public class NTCredentialsClient {
         public static void main(String args[]) {
              HttpClient client = new HttpClient();
              NTCredentials credentials = new NTCredentials("user1", "password1", "MYDESKTOP", "domain1");
              AuthScope authScope = new AuthScope("20.222.335.37", 3128);
              client.getState().setCredentials(authScope, credentials);
              //client.getState().setCredentials(AuthScope.ANY, credentials);
              GetMethod get = new GetMethod("http://239.271.380.120/serveme/WS.asmx");
              get.setDoAuthentication(true);
              try {
                   int status = client.executeMethod(get);
                   System.out.println(status);
                   get.getResponseBodyAsStream();
                   // print the status and response
                    System.out.println(status + "\n" + get.getResponseBodyAsString());

                   e.printStackTrace();
              finally {

Also, in the above program for AuthScope constructor, do I need to pass web service server adderss and port OR my local proxy address and local proxy port as constructor arguments ?
    Please suggest ...
    Thanks & Regards,
    Kr.

    You will need to define your proxy settings. In java, these are provided as system properties:
    System.setProperty("http.proxyHost", "<proxy>");
    System.setProperty("http.proxyPort", "<port>");
    If your proxy uses HTTP authentication, you will need to define a few more system properties, which I don't know off the top of my head. This should actually get you connected with the web server, but as for the 302 error, you'll probably need to contact the system administrator.
    Cheers
    Todd.

  • Transaction timed out with oracle 9i

    Hi,
    I am working with weblogic6.1.
    Sometimes (very seldom) I have a problem which I don't undserstand.
    The transaction stops and and after some time I get TimedOutException.
    This time it happend in the findByPrimaryKey of a CMP Entity bean.
    I have this problem only with Oracle 9i. with oracle8i everything works
    fine.
    I'm using oracle thin driver (I put oracle12.zip at the begin of weblogic
    classpath)
    Is this problem of oracle?
    Does WLS 6.1 support Oracle9i?

    Dear all,
    When the java application program tries to insert the data (around 300

    weblogic.transaction.internal.TimedOutException: Transaction timed out after
    95 seconds".
    When the error occurred, only one java application was running. Furthermore,
    I set the JTA-->Timeout Seconds to 30 in the thr the Weblogic console. The
    configuration of the server is WebLogic 7.0 with SP2 and Oracle 8.1.7.
    Anyone know what happen and how to resolve the problem? The error is due to
    the entity bean, Weblogic or Oracle?
    Thanks a lot.
    IreneOr configuration. You can set your timeout to a different value. It is likely
    to be an oracle problem. We don't do anything unnecessary to delay your application
    code. You may be able to check the jdbc log or jta log to see when the tx starts and
    how long it takes to progress. If you note a delay, you could take a server
    thread dump to see what weblogic is doing. Typically it will be waiting for
    Oracle to respond from a jdbc call.

  • Facebook timed out with new Ios 4

    Hi,
    When I use my 3GS with wifi disabled, I can't access to facebook, Safari and other apps. I see the wheel turning and Then I have a message saying "timed out". I restore my 3GS, reinstall all the applications but nothing. All is working in wifi mode. Could you help me? Thanks

    Exactly the same happened to my iPhone 3GS. While Apple Service proposed to send the iPhone to repair centre I´ve found that the problem only happened with activated SIM card pin security check. Switching pin checking off and re-installing software again helped. There are other threads discussing similiar problems; maybe, it is a matter of the service provider (Vodafone in my case).

  • The connection has timed out with certain sites on all browsers

    When I type in google.ca or bing.com in my address bar, it says " The connection has timed out. The server at bing.com is taking too long to respond." i have done may virus scans and that has not worked. This happens in all brosers and i am using windows XP. I am mainly using FireFox 3.6. My friends can access the sites and seem like i am the only one with the problem.
    == URL of affected sites ==
    http://bing.com
    == User Agent ==
    Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.3) Gecko/20100401 Firefo8769 79680741803 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)

    Only on some sites.
    Really weird thing is, Internet Explorer works FINE!!!

  • Get "connect timed out" with twitter4j api

    modified HelloWorldAdapter.java to call " unauthenticatedTwitter.getPublicTimeline();".
    add following code before calling twitter api
    System.setProperty("twitter4j.http.proxyHost", "www-proxy.us.oracle.com"); System.setProperty("twitter4j.http.proxyPort", "80");
    the CEP HelloWorld CEP fails with "connect timed out"
    If I use similar code (testwitter.java) outside CEP. works fine.
    I am using eclipse to test the code.
    --- here is part of the testtwitter.java
    Twitter unauthenticatedTwitter = new TwitterFactory().getInstance();
         System.out.println("Showing public timeline.");
         System.setProperty("twitter4j.http.proxyHost", "www-proxy.us.oracle.com");

         try {
         List<Status> statuses = unauthenticatedTwitter.getPublicTimeline();
         for (Status status : statuses) {
         System.out.println(status.getUser().getName() + ":" +
         status.getText());
    --- here is the part of the generateTwitterMessage() at HelloWorld CEP

         String twitterMsg = status.getUser().getName() + ":" +status.getText();
    System.out.println("msg--"+twitterMsg);
    String message = this.message + dateFormat.format(new Date()) + twitterMsg ;
    HelloWorldEvent event = new HelloWorldEvent();
    event.setMessage(message);
    eventSender.sendInsertEvent(event);
    }catch ....
    Please help me on proxy host/port setup inside CEP

  • My hard drive is timing out with my airport extreme

    I have an Airport Extreme Model A1345.  Trying to connect my LaCie Rugged 500 GB HD and use it as a networked HD. But it keeps timing out.  Are there only certain drives compatible with the Airport Extreme? Or do I need change a file share setting?

    What firmware are you running?
    All drives these days are designed to spin down.. not all setups are that smart spinning the drive up again.
    And yes, there can be issues.. even though the LaCie is powered (i hope) you might still need a powered hub to overcome the very poor ability of the USB in the AE.
    I would also tend to think running it on 7.5.2 firmware or 7.6.1 at the latest is prreferable to 7.6.4  but the only way to tell is try it.

  • Firefox 15.01 is timing out with Facebook

    I am running Firefox 15.01 on a MacBook Pro and Facebook is timing out when I load it. If I clear cache it loads okay once but you can't navigate within the site. I think this is the only URL because others seem to be working okay.

    Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
    Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
    To clear cache and cookies do the following:
    #Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
    #Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
    #Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
    #From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
    #Now click the ''Clear now'' button.
    Further information can be found in the [[Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox]] article.
    Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

  • "Shared storage client timed out' error when starting a batch

    I'm getting this error on every node in the cluster. What am I doing wrong?

    I also administer a managed cluster with 6 machines, and have been using it successfully for almost a year now. But the only encoding that is submitted is directly through Compressor, never via FCP.
    With QMaster, it sees a Quickcluster and a managed cluster the same way. While they are set up differently, the principle is the same, QMaster only sees services.
    Exporting out of FCP to any cluster has always been slow. If you want to harness the power of distributed encoding, you could export a Quicktime reference file and take that into Compressor to be submitted to the cluster for encoding.
