Elements 9 Downloader Crashes on connection to camera
I have Elements 9, when I try to download files from my camera the downloader crashes. It recognizes the camera but crashes when tying to connect. It worked about a week ago but will not work anymore. Any ideas how I can fix this?
I am not very sure of this problem but want to know if you tried card-reader instead of camera. At least you would be able to continue with your work. Which Camera do you have and whih mode is used to connect?

IPhoto crashes upon connecting the camera.
Since the application works when no camera is connected, I am inclined to think that the problem has to do with the preferences or the iPhoto library. Some days ago I deleted what I thought to be extra copies of my pictures when they were actually part of the iPhoto library that is automatically generated when pictures are uploaded. I believe I messed up with the paths that the application uses and now I don’t know if I can restore the original settings. Can that be done?

Assuming you did this using the finder then you broke the cardinal rule of iPhoto (and all database programs). NEVER make any changes of any sort to the structure or content of the database using any other program (like the finder or PhotoShop, etc).
If that us what you did your choices are to undo what you did and put the iPhoto library back exactly like it was, or restore your backup from before you corrupted your library or start over with a new library and import your original photos

Photoshop Elements 9 Downloader crash with video clips on memory card
I have a Canon SX30IS. When I use PSE9 to download from memory card, if there are any videos present on the card, the Photo Downloader crashes.
I believe that it is something to do with Apple Quicktime. When I uninstall Quicktime , PSE downloader does not crash while importing media form this camera, but cannot play video clips. On reinstalling Quicktime , the PSE downloader crashes while searching the memory card for media.
I have not upgraded PSE twice now because of this crash. What makes it worse is that Apple Quicktime is a very poor media player, managing about 2FPS on the video clips from this camera when both the Canon and the VLC video codecs can manage 30FPS.
I would much prefer if I could choose to use a video renderer, like using any available Windows codecs rather than insisting on using annoying Apple software.
MikePlease let me know the mode in which camera/card reader is connected to the system (USB/PTP/MTP). This can be determined from camera.
Please try to follow:
1. Navigate to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 9 Organizer\PhotoDownloader.exe.
2. Right click on 'PhotoDownloader.exe' and select 'Properties'.
3. Naviage to 'compatability' tab and click on 'Run this program in comptability mode for' and select 'win xp service pack 3'.
4. In the same dialog, click on 'Run this program as an admin' under 'privelage level'.
5. Now run the: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 9 Organizer\PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe as an administrator.
Please let me know if you face any issues in following the steps.

I have an 11" Air with lots of remaining capacity running Mountain Lion. I also have a digital point-and-shoot camera. I have never downloaded images from the camera to this Air. However, if I just connect the camera to the Air's USB port, with the camera's available cable, and the Air is open, will a program like ImageCapture or iPhoto, auomatically come up, and I can begin to download wanted images? Or, will this sort of connection delete or fry everything on the Air? Do I need any other software on board? Will current Apple onboard programs allow me to download images from my camera and not destroy everything else?
Answered. Thanks.

i have a canon 70d and just purchased elements 12. It will not open a raw file for me. I have been advised to download the latest version of camera raw, i have done this and it still says my camera is not supported. I really need to open my raw files. Can anybody help me.
You'll need to update to at least ACR 8.2 for the 70D to be recognized. The normal way to update PSE12 to the latest CR is to use Help / Updates in the Editor which should update to ACR 8.5.
According to Adobe's website PSE12 shipped with ACR 8.1 and you say it says yours is reported as ACR 8.0.
Are you using PSE 11 and not 12? PSE 11's maximum ACR version is 8.0. -
I have Photoshop Elements 12 for both PC and Mac (I use both). I have a new camera, Nikon D810. I downloaded the latest version of Camera Raw, 8.8. My D810 is listed as a supported camera model. However, when I try to open a raw photo in Photoshop Elements, I keep getting the message "Could not complete your request because the file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by the installed version of Camera Raw. I have tried reinstalling Camera Raw many times, and have tried to open many different raw files in Elements, and still get the same error message. Please help.
How did you try to install ACR 8.8. The only way I know of that works with Elements is to use the Updates Choice on the Help menu.
There are two charts supplied by Adobe that explain your RAW dilemma. This one tells you what your camera needs: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html This one tells you what version of software you need: http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/camera-raw-compatible-applications.html
In your case, the Nikon D810 needs Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) 8.6 or Lightroom 5.6. (Congratulations on buying a new camera!)
To get to that level with Photoshop Elements, you will need to replace your Photoshop Elements 12 with version 13. Adobe caps ACR updates on version 12 at 8.5.
The most convenient way to get around it without spending any money is to use the FREE from Adobe DNG Converter. Download and install it from here for FREE: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/thankyou.jsp?ftpID=5855&fileID=5890 Once it is installed you can convert your D810 raw files to an Adobe RAW version with the .DNG file extension that most, if not all, versions of the various Adobe software programs can use. That includes old versions of Photoshop, Elements and Lightroom. DNG converter can be used as the tool to move your files from your memory card to your computer, is efficient, will convert in batches and is completely lossless. There is no risk of any image quality degradation or RAW functionality. -
When I try to download my pics from my camera with the iPad connection kit, I get a message saying that my device requires too much power.
What model iPad? I upgraded my mini and used the SD card lightning cable last night to transfer raw photo images without any problem.

I have installed Photoshop Elements 12. Is there an additional download related to my specific camera, and if so where do I find it?
Which camera make and model do you have?

Presenter 8 crashes after connecting external Firewire cam
Good day,
We often organize workshops and conferences which I sometimes record with an external camera for later reference by our own staff or to make them available to clients who couldn't attend the presentations.
For a long time I was looking for a tool to synchronise PowerPoint slides with spoken recorded comment (audio/video), since I don't believe in just making slides available to people who couldn't attend the presentation, without the spoken comments of the speaker.
I also believe in slides with as less text as possible, but more with images, schemes and animations to support the speaker's message. But in such a case, the spoken comment is an essential part of the presentation to get the message, since the slides as-such alone don't tell enough.
I installed the trial version of Adobe Presenter 8 to test its suitability for our company marketing and presentation needs.
Adobe Presenter 8 seems to work perfect to synchronise Powerpoint slides and screen actions, together with video recorded by an external webcam, connected via USB to my notebook or via the internal webcam in my notebook.
However, I also want to record presentations, presented in our auditorium and meeting rooms and I want to synchronise in realtime (= during the actual presentation) the Powerpoint slides together with the video/audio from the speaker. The realtime option avoids the work of recording the speaker on tape or in an MPG or FLV during the actual presentation, uploading the A/V file to my PC and doing the PowerPoint/audio/video synchronisation work afterwards by going through the whole presentation again.
To record the video I therefore use an external semi-pro videocamera (JVC DV-500), since this gives me better possibilities to frame the right image, zoom in/out, better lens, etc ... in comparison with an ordinary webcam. The JVC DV-500 can be connected to a computer via a Firewire I/F.
This always worked perfect when we recorded and streamed video/audio using Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder 3.2. Adobe Flash Encoder recognizes the via FireWire connected external cam without a problem.
But, when using Adobe Presenter 8 within PowerPoint 2010 to start recording a presentation, and when I switch on the power switch on the external JVC-cam, Adobe Presenter 8 crashes, showing an error "Application encountered an internal error ... report to product support forums, etc ..." and "Adobe-Pr-VC.exe doesn't work anymore", and creating some error log and dump-files on my notebook.
After switching off the external cam and keeping it switched off, and manually deleting in Task Manager still running instances of Presenter-software (Adobe_Pr_VC.exe), and restarting PowerPoint, everything works well again with the USB or internal webcam.
Already deleted Presenter from my notebook, cleaned up registry with CCleaner, reinstalled Presenter, but error keeps on coming back.
Someone any ideas what causes this error?
Software conflict, driver conflict, Adobe Presenter incompatible with external A/V devices, no support of FireWire I/F, ... ?
Configuration:
Fujitsu notebook LifeBook T5010
Windows 7 Pro SP1 32-bit (Dutch version)
Microsoft Office 2010 Pro Plus (Dutch version)
Creative webcam connected via USB
External JVC DV-500 videocamera connected via build-in Firewire I/F
Firewire driver was installed by Windows automatically when connecting the cam (msdv.sys 6.1.7600.16385)
The only other real-time encoding software installed is Adobe Flash Media Live encoder 3.2.
Some other usual Adobe stuff (flash player, shockwave player, AIR, reader X, )
The possibility of connecting an external cam to record the speaker and synchronise the PowerPoint and/or screen actions in realtime, would greatly enhance our work.
Thanks,
Patrick ROTEN

CIPAL DV (Belgium)Hi,
started Presenter's Video Creator in troubleshoot mode with external Firewire connected cam switched off.
1. Video Creator started in troubleshoot mode (got the 'troubleshoot' message)
2. default active cam was the USB webcam (HD screen, SD cam)
3. started recording
4. everything worked normal
5. stopped recording
Result looked fine. Got the normal troubleshoot message, asking to send log files. Did not do this, since there was no error at this time.
Then repeated the process with exteral FireWire cam.
1. Video Creator started in troubleshoot mode
2. default active cam was the USB webcam (HD screen, SD cam)
3. powered on external JVC camera connected to the notebook via FireWire
4. Video Creator crashed after windows detected (beep sound) an active appliance on the FireWire port.
Could not even stop recording with Video Creator in a normal way to go to the "send error log to Adobe" procedure.
Instead got a box with the message: "Applications encountered an internal error. If the problem persists, please report on product support forums or contact the support team."
Had to shut down Adobe_Pr_VC.exe manually in Task Manager.
Tried the same procedure with another FireWire appliance, a DV video recorder with a tape of a previously recorded conference session.
Same error, as soon as I powered on the videorecorder, and Windows detected (beep sound) an active appliance on the FireWire port, Video Creator crashed with the same error message as above.
I can't go through the whole workflow to send the error logs to Adobe, since Video Creator crashes from the moment the power of a FireWire appliance is switched on.
No possibility to stop recording in a normal way (SHIFT-END or clicking the icon in system tray).
Had to manually shut down Adobe_Pr_VC.exe in Task Manager again.
Tried again with Adobe Flash Media Live Encorder 3.2 to see how this application reacts, to be sure there is nothing wrong with my notebook or the Windows O/S.
1. started Flash Media Encoder with external FireWire cam switched off
2. saw 2 active devices : build in Sirius webcam and external USB Creative webcam
3. saw image of my webcam in the encoder monitor windows
4. switched on power on external JVC camera, connected via FireWire
5. Flash Media Encoder immediatelly recognized "Microsoft DV Camera and VCR". Selected this and image of external cam was shown in the encoder monitor windows.
6. Could stream FireWire cam image to an external streaming service without a problem.
Conclusion: a FireWire connected cam does work with other Adobe software. Must be something wrong in the Video Creator software.
Sorry I can't send you the log files, since app in both normal and troubleshoot mode crashes prematurely.
Hope my explanation helps you a bit to find a solution.
Regards,

I have read other posts similiar to my problem to try those solutions such as searching for 3ivx add-on but it was not found on my computer. Not sure how to get iPhoto to start working again.
I import photos and the last time I imported photos was in November. Just recently I've tried importing photos again, with the same camera to the same version of iPhoto by connecting my camera and when I click "import" the program freezes and closes. After iPhoto closed the first time I thought that it was just an update that it needed so I updated iPhoto to the latest version. The same problem with importing is still occuring.

My photoshop elements 5 photo downloader crashes before I can download my photos .
why does my photoshop elements 5 photo downloader crash before I can download my photos? I tried to uninstall and reinstall it but it still crashes. The error code is : c0000005 Address 7c910919.
To uninstall PE12 on a MAC, can I just drag the PE12.app to the trash?
No! That will give you no end of trouble and will not fix anything. If you ever do need to uninstall you MUST use the uninstaller in applications>adobe photoshop Elements 12.
Go to your username>library>preferences and delete the following:
com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 paths
Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 settings
com.adobe.Elements Organizer.12.0.plist
com.adobe.ElementsOrganizer.12.plist
and any lockfiles with the same names. That library is hidden. To see it, option click the Go menu in the Finder and it will appear below the little house for your user account.
While you're in there go to the saved application states folder and delete any pertaining to PSE. Y
Repair permissions and try again. You will need to select your catalog on first opening organizer. -
Ap Crashes after connecting camera (Nikon D300) to computer for Tethering..
Using Aperture in a "tethered" photo shoot, I connected a Nikon D300 and it was working fine. I hade to do a battery change on teh camera and when I turned the camera back on Aperture crashed. Restared computer twice, Aperture lauched just fine, BUT afte connecting the Nikon D300 to the computer Aperture was not responding. However I would disconnect the camera and Aperture was fine. Bottom line I had to cancel the Tethered shooting because aperture continued to stall when I connected the camera. Any thought? Please advice.
Something I forgot to mention was that I shot 2,616 pictures yesterday when this happen. It crashed at like picture 2,245. I was shooting models and it was one shot after the other for like 13 hours straight.
However, today I decided to trash some older pictures to make room for part 2 of the shoot this coming weekend. I got home and I tried tethering again and wallah, it worked. I tried another camera as well a D60 and it worked. So can we say that it was a system overload? Would that be a good assumption?
Should I go in to the preferences and dump prefs? Any thoughts on this would be good.
P.s Prior to the deleting of my older stuff I have like 9gigs available in the hard drive, after deleting I had 27 gigs left.. Just a note!
Thanks in advance! -
Directly connecting a camera to take pictures, not simply download...
I am about to embark on a project of taking a slew (thousands) of small product photos. I would like to direct connect a camera to my iBook so I can take pictures and have them transfer directly to the Mac. Eliminating the step of downloading a memory card (or batch downloading from a camera) would save an incredible amount of time.
Is there a way to do this? I'm open to any and all suggestions. Thanks...This is called tethered shooting. For this you’ll need a camera that can do it plus the software on your mac. For instance, Aperture and Image Capture can for some cameras. So, the first thing you need to find out is does your camera support this.
Regards

Normally when i connect my camera to the computer, iphoto opens up and a download begins immediately. This time, nothing opens. Not iphotos, or kodak. I opened iphoto to see if that would start things but nothing. What do i do?
Try image capture (in your applications folder)
Does your camera mount to the desktop - drag your photos to a desktop folder
once you get the photos off of the camera use the camera's format command to erase them and renew the memory format - in the future do not let iPhoto (or any other program) delete your photos - always properly disconnect and later (I prefer after at least one backup cycle) use the camera to format the memory

I've tried checking for updates (none necessary), running v 9.1.5
Everytime I open it and connect a camera I have to force quit because it stops responding and won't upload.
It's uploaded from both these cameras before with no problem.
How can I fix this?As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
