Eliminating excessive dhcpcd add/remove default route messages

I've been on an IPv6 network for the past several months. I use no network manager (aside from netctl and wifi-menu) and I'm generally wired in. I manually start dhcpcd on my eth0 when I start my computer.
The issue I've been having and have been unable to resolve is the fact that the following two messages have been repeating in my log every 2-10 seconds for the past several months and I now have several thousand of them. It's just getting annoying at this point because it interferes with actually reading relevant log messages via journalctl:

No matter what I search, I can't seem to find a way to get rid of these. I keep a terminal open with journalctl -f running almost always and it's just filled with these, quickly pushing away relevant messages such as "codeblocks dumped core". Does anyone have any tips for preventing these sorts of log entries?

I don't think there is a way for journalctl to exclude logging from only dhcpcd. Of course, you can filter the real time logging to the group of units that you do want to watch but I think you want to watch everything else, right?
How about trying systemd-networkd rather than dhcpcd? Or, if you are only concerned about certain priority level messages, set the priority level. If everything you want to monitor is priority 4 and below for example, and if this message priority is 6, then you're all set.

  • Setting The Default Route in a Jumpstart Install with Multiple Interfaces

    I'm performing a Jumpstart install on a SPARC v240 server, which has multiple network interfaces. I'm trying to configure all of the interfaces as part of the Jumpstart setup. However, Jumpstart doesn't like the default route that I'm supplying. If I add the default_route parameter anywhere but under the first interface, Jumpstart complains that the default route is missing (by making me add it after it dumps out to the suninstall screens. If I add the default route under the first interface, Jumpstart dumps me to the suninstall screen which says that the route could not be added.
    What am I doing wrong ? Am I trying to get Jumpstart to do something that it won't do ?
    Here is my sysidcfg file. The file shown below will cause Jumpstart to dump to the suninstall screen, which will indicate that the route cannot be added:

    That sysidcfg seems a bit odd anyway, have you by any chance put the different interfaces of your jumpstart server into it? Normally you won't need to specify a default router since the jumpstart will figure it out anyway.. Does your jumpstart server have an interface on each network you want to jumpstart?

  • Basic Default Route Question

    Hi,
    I have a very basic question I wanted to run by everyone to make sure my understanding is correct.
    Setup:
    Basic config, router with two interfaces and a single default route.
    hostname RTR1
    interface Ethernet0/0
    ip address 1.1.1.1 255.255.255.0
    interface Ethernet0/1
    ip address 1.1.2.1 255.255.255.0
    ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 1.1.2.2
    add -> ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.10.10.1
    If I add a default route (currently in a telnet session coming through 1.1.2.2 to get to RTR1) to a gateway that is NOT locally connected nothing will happen, correct? The router won't try to load balance my traffic since the second gateway is not directly connected and reachable, correct?
    Next, if I change the IP address on e0/1 to 10.10.10.2/24 then my default route of 1.1.2.2 will no longer be used and my 10.10.10.1 defaut route will become active, correct?
    I can then connect using my new IP of 10.10.10.2 assuming all routing is working on my new default gateway, correct?
    Basically, I'm making sure my understanding of the default gateway route not being used unless it is accessible is valid. If it is, it will load balance traffic across up to 6 of them.
    Please comment or correct if my understanding is incorrect.

    I believe that most of your understanding is ok especially about not load sharing over the routes as defined. I checked it on a router and only the default route with a reachable next hop is inserted into the routing table. Both static default routes are in the config but only one is in the routing table.

  • Windows XP, removed bonjour in add/remove program. Now have an error message - APAgent.exe - Unable to Locate Component

    Windows XP:  removed bonjour by accident in the add/remove program.  Now, everytime i log on, i get an error message that reads.
    APAgent.exe - Unable To Locate Component
      This application has failed to start because dnssd.dll was not found.  Re-installing the application may fix this problem.
    Tried reloading my Airport Extreme CD, but no luck.
    Googled this error & got nowhere.  How can i get fix this annoying error message?

    Which Bonjour were you using, daniel? The Bonjour Print Services type, or the one that comes bundled with iTunes?

  • ICMPv6 RA: ndisc_router_discovery() failed to add default route

    I have the rv215w and have it setup on our network. I have downloaded and installed the latest firmware prior to putting the router in place. The issue I have though ius I keep getting "ICMPv6 RA: ndisc_router_discovery() failed to add default route" repeatedly in the logs. I have it set to dhcp and not sure what I need to do to resolve this issue.

    I have the same issue.  In my case, as I posted here, IPv6 only seems to work on the main VLAN, but not on the other(s).  I wonder if this "ICMPv6 RA" error is referring to the default route that fails to install on the extra VLAN(s), but of course I am not exactly sure.

    Well, this is a programming question more than a question on how to use the Leopard environment (you might want to post to one to the programming forums).
    However, basically, you can't remove the Dock menu items that the Dock itself adds (add/remove from dock, etc.). You can add your own menu items, however. Use the interface builder to create a nib that has a menu in it -- call it something catchy like MyMenu.nib.
    Then in the application property list file (Info.plist) add property called "AppleDockMenu" and set the value to a string that's the name of your nib file (without the .nib extension).
    Subsequently, you treat that menu just as you would the menus in your menu bar. That's all there is to it.

  • How do I manually uninstall 3.5.6? Each time I attempt to upgrade to 4.0 the install program asks me to reboot which I have done numerous times. Add/Remove Programs prompts the same message when selecting "REMOVE" option.

    Attempting to upgrade Firefox from 3.5.6 to 4.0 but it prompts me to Reboot to finish install. Rebooting PC does not resolve the issue. I get this message when attempting to remove via Windows/XP Control Panel "ADD/REMOVE" programs and if I attempt to execute "FIREFOX 4.0 SETUP" program.

    The easiest way of doing it is to click '''Help '''| '''Check For Updates'''. The first time you do it, it will upgrade to v3.6.16. So you'll have to repeat the same steps to get to version 4.0.

  • Change button disabled in ESS add/remove dependents

    We are on version 4.7D and have noticed that ESS transaction PZ12 does not consistently allow changes to existing records. I can change a spouse, but I cannot change a child or an emergency contact via ESS.  I get the same results when accessing through R/3, but there are no messages as to what the problem is.  I have tried removing the dependents from all benefits plans, then trying to change the data in PZ12, but that does not work. I have checked for any authorization errors, and none exist. Does anyone have any ideas as to how to correct this and enable the change button in all cases?
    The dependent type 2 is set up with time constraint 3. I have checked table T591A_ESSEX and can see that the subtype is allowed to be maintained via ESS.

    OK. There are two ways to do this:
    1. Create a button facet in the Add remove component
    2. Modify the theme.
    For the first way here is a sampe:
    1. drag a add removelist onto the designer
    2. Edit the jsp to look like this:

    Hi Folks,
    I need to provide internal devices with active-active access to our clustered firewall which sits across 2 data centres.
    I need to allow internal hosts to reach external/unknown networks via a default route.
    We have ACE modules in our internal network aggregation 6513s at each site.
    I aim to achieve this using RHI...ie...device at site 1 reaches the internet via firewall at site 1, device at site 2 reaches internet via firewall at site 2 (due to better route). If the firewall is inaccessible from site 2, ACE at site 2 removes the route from the MSFC using RHI and site 2 device traffic is re-routed to the site 1 exit point.
    Has anyone out there done this before?

    The solution you have provided is more complicated than I had in mind. For example we had not intended using FWSM (we don't have these modules). I just want to use our existing ACEs at each Data Centre to provide the injection of a default route to our internal EIGRP process based on the result of a probe to our Checkpoint FW. What do you think?

  • ISCSI boot with Intel NICs added to windows 2008 r2 routing table causes non iscsi traffic to attempt default routes on iscsi networks

    I have a server with Intel 82576 Gigabit Dual Port Nics.  I have configured them to use iSCSI boot the primary looks to 10.0.0.1/24 and the secondary looks to 10.0.1.1/24.  The target is configured correctly.  Everything boots as expected.
     I have added the MPIO feature and configured MPIO for the iscsi initiator as per: http://blogs.technet.com/b/migreene/archive/2009/08/29/3277914.aspx.
     My issue is that the iSCSI networks show up in the routing table like so:
    I did not configure a default route in the Intel setup utility:
    I tried to explicitly remove the 0.0.0.0 entry and leave blank, with no change.  As you can see with the above routing table traffic attempts to travel over these routes:

    A ping to the outside world first attempts on 10.0.0.x/24 network, then on 10.0.1.x/24 network and then finally on the network the traffic should go over.  I don't want my iSCSI traffic to ever show up with a default route.  How do I get rid of it?

    route delete 0.0.0.0 deletes all default routes, then I have to add back in the "valid default route" of 192.168.100.6.
    I would like to not have to do a route delete though.

    So I've sort of given up on fixing the gateway assignment in the route for iSCSI boot.  I configured a DHCP server to give out the information required by iSCSI boot and configured the network cards to use DHCP for their configuration.  I insured
    that my DHCP server gave out no default gateway entry.  However, I still got the undesired routes in the routing table.  This makes me assume that there isn't a "fix" for it, only the workaround.
    Here is the script I run on each iSCSI Boot initiator (you would obviously change the ip number to suit your environment):

    I have two tables 1. State, 2.District
    1.State- StateId-Pk, StateName
    2.District- DistrictId-Pk, DistrictName, StateId-Fk
    Now I have created a AddEditScreen for District. As the two tables are in relationship the AddEditScreen is showing 3 fields 1.DistrictName, 2. StateName, 3.StateId. The StateName field is DetailsPicker. I have removed the StateId field from the
    display page. Now when I'm clicking on save button it is giving a error message
    "StateId: This field is required.". I don't want to show the StateId field. I only want to show 1.DistrictName, 2. StateName field. Now how to change the default validation message to "State Name: This field
    is required."  if anyone doesn't select a state name.

    The screenshot you have attached is not the screen designer, this is the data designer (for want of a better word for it). The scren designer is where you add the data objects onto the screen. I have attached a screenshot below of what you are looking for.
    I know that this is of an older version of Visual Studio but the principal is still the same.
    AAs you can see i Have selected the Name field within VeryFullTables and then selected the small arrow next to write code. Then you select the _Validate method. This will allow you to enter some simple code that will show on the validation message.

  • ASA 5520 - Can not change default route.

    My asa is sitting behind a router the next hop from the ASA to the router is 10.0.0.5 I have tried to change the default route to route DMZ 0 0 10.0.0.5  to no availability right now the default route is (S*   0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 [1/0] via 172.16.8.20, Outside) but even if I were to do a "no route Outside 0 0 172.16.8.20" the default route does not disappear when I do a "sh route" command. ant help would be greatly appreciated.

    I apologize for not being clear hopefully this helps. Basically the  default route should be: route DMZ 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.10.10.5, I had to  add a metric of 2 because otherwise it would conflict with the Gateway  of last resort, the interesting part is if I try to remove the current  gateway of last resort then the error I get is  %No matching route to delete and I try to add the new route I get ERROR: Cannot add route entry, conflict with existing routes.

  • Losing IPv6 default route

    Hi,
    I've started seeing a problem after upgrading to Yosemite that I lose the IPv6 default route after a while on my MacBook Air. I can restore it but running
    sudo ipconfig set en0 automatic-v6
    in the terminal, but after a while it disappears again. I still have all the IPs and link level routes, just not the default one. Does anyone recognize this problem or know of a workaround? I suppose it could be something with my network setup, but I've never had problems with this before and haven't changed anything except OS version recently. My router is running OpenWRT (barrier breaker pre-release).

    This is very annoying since I rely on IPv6 for some of my work connections, so I really do need some kind of fix.

    Try running 'nettop -m route' in a terminal window and look for the default IPv6 routes. These are mine for ethernet and wi-fi:
        default -> en0 -> fe80::200:ff:fe00:0%en0
        default -> en1 -> fe80::200:ff:fe00:0%en1
    The problem I see is that the default route keeps disappearing for a short time. If you are also running a ping6 at the time you will see:
        ping6: sendmsg: No route to host
    I'm using a Cisco RV220W router. Each network interface default route drops for a short time and there is no particular timing or other indicator why. This is all happening while the IPv4 network is rock solid. I'm seeing this in Mac OS X 10.9.5.

    I have :
    - a domain A as test1.com
    - a domain B as test2 .com
    - a domain C as test3 .com
    Only the A domain is local, and i must route messages to domain B or C on a relay machine.
    I tried this :
    imtra.cnf
    ! intra
    .test2.com $U%$D@chan_intra-daemon
    .test3.com $U%$D@chan_intra-daemon
    And added the following channel (imta.cnf)

    where 10.0.0.1 is the relay.
    It doesn't work.

    Create domain B and C within Messaging Server. Add a "domainsmarthost" for those domains, pointing to your relay box. done.
    Remove what you already did. It's neither needed nor a good idea.

  • Adding a secondary default route

    I'm in a situation where a subnet at a facility on the other side of the country is stepping on another subnet on the network. Thus, I must re-ip the devices on the offending subnet. My plan is to add a secondary default route to the gateway (Nexus 5K) and then bring up the access layer switches in sequence at which point I will then remove the original subnet. My question is- Will this process cause impact to the existing subnet? I want to avoid any disruptions if possible.

    I can't see what readdressing a subnet has to do with bringing up access switches and the default route.
    Perhaps you can give some more details.
