EM could not manage the Oraclie9iAS appserver instance
I have Oracle9iAS on Solaris. I have used J2EE and WEB cache Install type.
Oracle9iAS[9.0.2] has poor documentation on how to startup the instance through command line tools. Oracle expects people to use EM to manage the instance.
I have used command line tools to start the Oracle9iAS application server. I am able to run the Servlet/JSP examples to ensure Oracle9iAS instance is running.
The EM could not see the running Oracle9iAS instance. The sequence of command I have used to start the instance is given below.
I woulde appreciate feedback on this issue.

The sequence of Commandline tools I have used is give below:
-Login as Oracle
-set ORACLE_HOME
-Start the OHS, OC4J
$ORACLE_HOME/dcm/bin/dcmctl start
-Start the Webcache service
$ORACLE_HOME/bin/webcachectl start
-Start the EM serivce
$ORACLE_HOME/bin/emctl start
-Browse the URL
http://<host>:7777 Run the JSP/Servlet sample
If I browse the EM with url http://<host>:1810, it is not showing the
appserver instance even though appserver instance is running serving servlets and JSPs.
Hello Palani, i have also installed the same as u (from cd option: A J2EE/WEB CACHE) which the only one that will install. what i find amazing is this reference to starting anything other than emctl from the command line. case in point: $ORACLE_HOME/dcm/bin/dcmctl. i find no such file. do i need to re-install? i find the only thing running from em is the clickstream collector. web cache is configurable from em but will not run. everything else is hopeless: bc4j, oc4j_home, jserv, http. any suggestions? thanx, david brown, webitplanet.com.

I tried to install ,deleted and re-installed several times and no help at all.
visual studio 2013 with update 2 rc and adk installed in my computer.

I am trying to deploy ESS packges in EP through SDM.But while deploying I am getting this error in SDM at the start itself:-
Error: An error occured while starting a cluster instance.

I have checked the CONFIGTOOl and the properties seem to be OK.
I tried SHUTTING DOWN all APPLICATION servers & Restarting the DEPLOYMENT,but it still Failed

I have stopped all Application servers and kept only the CI-DB instances running.Retried deploying the ESS packages but still getting the same error.
Have checked the Visual admin,it is not in SAFE mode,it working normally.
Have alos checked the CLUSTER Manager Property Values in both Visual Admin & Config Tool,they are alright.
About the Cluster Resources,can you pls specify what exactly do you mean by "Cluster Resources are running or not".
I think if the application servers are stopped,then the Cluster resources shudnt come into play right?? Correct me if I am wrong.
Kindly suggest what other steps I shud take.

Could not find the principal resource for user id: paf
I think I have set up iCal server correctly on a MacOSX 10.5.1 server (upgraded from 10.4.x). But regardless of how many different URLs etc I am trying, I can neither access calendars, nor subscribe to them. I am trying both with Safari and Firefox and iCal client on MacOSX 10.5.1.
I have iCal service running.
I have added the user "paf" that have full admin access, and also calendar service is turned on on the server calendar.frobbit.se. Calendar.frobbit.se is one of the hostnames for the server btw.
I have a group called "canusecalendar" that "paf" is a member of.
The access for iCal service on the host is for the group canusecalendar and for the user paf, where paf is administrator.
The closest I have come is when I use a web browser and try to access any URL starting with http://calendar.frobbit.se:8008/. It ask for login, I give the credentials, and in the error log for the iCal service I see the following:

I do see tons of postings by people that more or less guess what URIs to use in browsers, for group calendars, in iCal client when connecting to an account or subscribing. Does anyone on this list know of an authoritative list of URLs that one should use here and there? The closest I have come is the "advanced" section of the iCal Administration document from Apple.Yes, I add users using workgroup manager, although the one I now use was added already in version 10.4 of MacOSX Server. I.e. before I upgraded to 10.5.

Execute jar file: "could not find the main class" program will terminate
Hey,
I am new to Java. I have started to make a small java program which supposed to help me at my studies to lean the Dominic Memory System. I have used the latest version of Netbeans 5.5.1 to build my program in. I have two problems which I cannot figure out how to solve, please help me.
The first problem is that the java script I have made works when I compile it in Netbeans, but when I create a Jar file it does not work. I receive a pop up message in windows ?could not find the main class program will terminate? when I execute the jar file.
The second problem I have is that I need to compare the strings generated by the "numbers" and "TIP" and if the numbers is not identical the numbers in the ?Center? JPanel should be highlighted as red.
If anyone would like to clean up the code I would be pleased. I have copied quite a lot from anyone because of my one lack of knowledge.

SQL Server Express 2014 on Win8.1: Could not find the Database Engine startup handle
Hello,
I tried to follow all the similarly titled posts in this forum, yet no solution seems to work, so I hope I can find some up-to-date suggestion here (most of the older posts refer to versions from 2008 to 2012...).
I have installed Visual Studio 2013 (with the latest Update 2 RC) on a freshly installed development workstation with Win 8.1 with all its updates. Now I'd want to install SQL Server 2014 Express, but the setup keeps failing with the dreaded "Could
not find the Database Engine startup handle" error (the log follows below).
What I tried:
1) download again and repair. Same error.
2) completely uninstall by launching setup.exe /Action=uninstall (success), then rebooting the OS, then installing again. Same error. I did this twice, the second time I also manually removed any directory left out in C:\Program Files etc.
When I launch the setup, I select all the components for installation in the package SQLEXPRADV_x64_ENU.exe (1.12 GB, last downloaded today -Apr 3, 2014-), and accept all the defaults including the proposed services accounts. There is no preexisting
SQL Server instance, as expected.
The setup takes its time, and finally fails with the error quoted above. I really do not want to reformat my HD and fully reconfigure my workstation, which took about 3 days... Could anyone suggest a solution to have SQL Server 2014 setup so I can start
developing instead of wasting time in administering the system?

No not as such, you wont believe,quite few pf my clients I have worked for keep it with local system and they have not complained yet ,they are afraid to change account as few of them faced issue SQL Server not coming online due to logon failure( after changing
startup account to some domain a and that was happening due to some AD policy.But if you have nay plans to move Critical database in production which would be act as Database to some Internet facing application please follow my suggestion
of running SQL Server with Least privileged domain account.

Replication Monitor could not open the Detail Window
The publisher is running SQL Server 2008 R2 on a Server 2008 R2 box. The subscriber is running SQL Server 2012 on a Server
2012 box. I have tried launching the replication monitor from both servers but can't drill down into details on either instance. I have three publications and subscriptions and they all throw this error when trying to drill down into the details. I would post

CLI156 Could not start the domain domain1. in Application Server 8
Hi everybody!
Sorry to post this message here at Application Server 7. But I'm using the Application Server 8 along with NetBeans 4.1 early access. Suddenly, the application server stop working on my computer and now, every time I try to start the default server, I get this error message:

I'm running this application server on Windows XP, like I said, I was working with NetBeans and suddenly, the AS stop working.. I did not delete anything, I did not move anything either.
Please, does any of you have any ideas of how can I fix this issue?
Best regards!You may try this soultion. I fixed this in my Window 2000 machine(Application Server 8) by:
1. Edit domain.xml($DEFAULT_DOAMIN/config)
2. Update the port="4702" for http-listener tag, and change to something else(e.g. 4802).
3. Save it
4. Make sure the Application Server is shut down.
5. Start the Application Server.

I installed successfully the Appserver on desktop, but when I try to start it from laptop, comes the message below. Both are w2k and 512 memory.

Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation.
A close friend's machine was blue screening on boot so he had me take a look at it. The error in the BSOD indicated Windows was having trouble reading from the drive. Although the drive wasn't clicking, based on what I was seeing, it seemed pretty
clear the drive was on its way out. I ran chkdsk, several times, and it found plenty of bad sectors but wasn't able to really fix anything. Fortunately I was able to
clone the drive using gparted
run chkdsk
fix the master boot record, boot sector and boot configuration data store
run chkdsk again
Now all is well
Upon booting I noticed the system was dreadfully out of date: Firefox, Java, Reader, Flash - the works - so I updated all that. I also noticed it was missing something like 50-70 Windows updates so I had to straight that right away. It
managed to install 15-20 before failing with 80070057. This to me isn't too uncommon so I rebooted thinking it wouldn't choke next time. Much to my chagrin, any subsequent attempts fail with error 80070057. I even tried installing just a few updates
at a time, even just 1, and the error persists. My assumption is that one or more files are maybe damaged and need to be fixed.
I ran sfc /scannow and it gets to about 27%, then fails with "Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation." I did the following:
backed up the existing CBS log
ran sfc /scannow again
watched the log in powershell via Get-Content C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log -Wait
It started out strong

I've run into sfc issues in the past, and in one instance, booting the OS install DVD, and running sfc /scannow /offbootdir=c:\ /offwindir=c:\windows did fix the issue. But I have to ask
Is there no way to do that while in Windows? Can't I mount some WIM and do it that way instead of booting the DVD?
Is that the right course of action, or is/are there some other options I should explore?

The in-place upgrade is a wonderful potential solution, but the process requires the source media. Most systems these days don't include the OS or recovery CD's because the manufacturers want you to pay for them. And most consumers aren't spending
the $50-$70 dollars to get the media, which complicates things in situations like this. So while they've purchased a machine and have a valid Microsoft COA sticker on the box, they can't do anything.
Also, to make matters worse, I posted this in the wrong forum as this is a Vista Home Premium PC. [My sincere apologies for that. Mods please feel free to move/reclassify] I do have a Vista Home Premium DVD, but its the 32-bit version, not 64-bit,
which is what this system is. So unless I can locate a Visa Home Premium 64-bit DVD, or they upgrade to Windows 7 or 8 (which they probably should do anyway), we're sunk. -

I am at the end of my rope and I would really appreciate some assistance.
I get the error: "TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified " from my ASP pages and "Warning: oci_connect() [function.oci-connect]: Error while
trying to retrieve text for error ORA-12154" when connecting from php pages.
I am trying to access these pages from the same server as the database.
I manage to connect to the database homepage, but only after I manually stop and start the database after a restart (why?).

NorwayGreat post - it has nearly everything needed for diagnosis. Well done.
The database is working, and the listener is listening. The successful tnsping to XE shows me that the client subsystem (at least in the oraclexe) path is set up correctly.
However, two other non-oracle clients (ASP and PHP) cannot see the definition for the XE server. This suggests to me that something is pointing them to another Oracle client software set up
I note that you have C:\instantclient_10_2 in your path - so presumably you had/have installed Instant Client on this machine as well ?
Given that you are on the server box, I don't think you need the Instant Client set up. It's possible that this is what is misdirecting the other clients you are suing. Try taking this out of your path.
If that doesn't work, can you provide the output of a SET command issued from the command line. -
Could not open the ICU common library
Dear all,
I’ve done heterogeneous OS migration on our Solution Manager system release ver. 7.0 Ehp1, from HP-UX 11.31 to RedHat 6.5. Then we need to perform the system upgrade to version 7.1
Kernel version is SAP Kernel : 720_EXT_REL.
Database Client Library : OCI_112, 11.2.0.3.0, V1, default.
created in : Linux GNU SLES-11 x86_64 cc4.3.4 use-pr121116
ICU Version : 4.0.1 Unicode Version 5.1
Everything is working fine. EarlyWatch reports are prepared. But when I checked the SLD http://saptst:54000/sld I’ve got the error “Internet
Explorer cannot display the webpage”. I also checked with IP address and it’s the same error.
With Chrome browser the error is “Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to saptst:54000”
I checked the SLDCHECK and got:

Is this the problem why I can’t open the browser http://saptst:54000/sld and I got the error “Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage”?

Having SCCM 2012 SP1 CU3 I attempted to do a pretty simple task.
Create a capture media for Windows 8 64 Bit and capture the OS.
The system in question is a Dell Latitude 6430u and OEM Windows 8.
The system ran as expected, the capture went as expected, but when I deploy the image (Back to the same laptop mind you)
The following occurs:
Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation.
Things that I've tried:
Set the SATA to various modes as it was on RAID on as speculated in some posts
Saw a posting that suggests pressing SHIFT F-10 to get in to some prompt and run oobe; doesn't work here, I think.
Added Dell Driver Packs for the system
As for log files, I'll check C:\Windows\Panther and see what's there.
Any ideas on how to correct this? Is there a way to go in to the image itself to do so?Sorry, I'm not using CM2007, but CM 2012 SP1, CU3.
I went through the smsts log and found several instances where drivers were missing so I'm guessing that's why it pitched a wobbly about not being a suitable system for the Windows setup.

Which doesn't make sense since the image that I am trying to put on the system is the one I took it from. Before putting the image out I went to Dell's web site and got the Windows 8 drivers for the system and distributed them as I usually do.
I got the drivers from here -

What I don't get is that I can take the Windows 8 install.wim and do an OSD task with it and there is no issue with drivers.
