Email alarm problem: Blank "To:" field on email, but only when iCal open

If iCal.app is closed, my email event alarms are working fine.
However, if iCal.app is open, when it comes time to open up mail.app and send the event alarm email, the "To:" field on the email is left blank, and results in a Mail error that the message can not be sent.
The only other reference I could find in the forums to a similar problem was a claim that installing GroupWise can interfere with the script that iCal uses to fill in the To: field on the email, but I have never installed Groupwise (at least i dont remember ever installing it, and can't find any traces of Groupwise on my system), and the fact that it all works when iCal is closed , but not when iCal is open, has me stumped.
Any suggestions?

Hi Ian,
There is a different application that sends the emails when iCal is closed. It is called iCal Helper and is contained in the iCal application. iCal and iCal Helper use copies of the same Applescripts to send the emails to Mail.app. Your problem could stem from the Applescripts in iCal being corrupted in some way.
Before trying what I am about to suggest, make an archive of your iCal application (Control-Click it in Finder and select Create Archive of "iCal") and keep the iCal.zip file safe. Better safe than sorry.
You could try copying the Applescripts from the iCal Helper package into the iCal package.
To do this:
1. Control-Click on the iCal application and choose 'Show Package Contents' from the contextual menu. A new window will open with one folder called Contents in it.
2.Open Contents and then the folder inside called Resources.
3. In Resources you will find the iCal Helper application (you may find this easier using column view). Control-Click iCal Helper and select 'Show Package Contents'. Another window will open with a folder called Contents in it.
4. Move the windows so you can see both the Resources window and the window opened in the last step.
5. Open the Contents folder, and then the Resources folder inside this.
6. Inside iCal Helper's Resources folder you will find five files called: Mail.scpt, Mail.applescript, mailInfoScript.applescript, mailInfoScript.applescript, mailScript.applescript and mailScriptWithAttachment.applescript. These files should be copied into iCal's Resources folder.
7. Select the five files and press Command-C to copy them.
8. Select the iCal's Resources folder in the other window and press Command-V. You will see a confirmation window asking if you really want to repace the files.
9. Close both windows and your done.
If you have any problems revet to the zipped copy of iCal.
An alternative to this would be to do a custom install of iCal from your installation disk and applying the combo update to 10.4.7.

Then there's nothing you can do. Only the previous owner can help you. They must either provide the ID and password, or erase the phone and remove it from their account as explained in the article you were reading. There's no way around this.

A new tab opens by default as a blank tab (about:blank).
If that isn't the case then an extension has changed that behavior.

You can middle-click or hold down Ctrl and left-click the Home button on the Navigation toolbar to open the Home page in a new tab.
You can look at this extension to set which page to open in a new tab:

If you use a trackpad and don't want to switch to a mouse, you can uninstall and reinstall all day long and will still have problems, but if you really want to try it, you can download PSE 12 here:

You might try this tip....iTunes 11.1.3 appears to have flawed permissions:
Repair permissions either with Disk Utility in the Applications/Utilities folder or on the command line with:
diskutil repairPermissions /

Anyone has email notification problem w/ the droid & default email app?

Just want to see if anyone/everyone out there has the same problem getting email notificaiton using default email app for gmail or any other email with all the setting enabled. (I am not talking about gmail email app)

Interesting......I did receive a notification on 11/11 for my bill due 12/2. I have not received a notification for my bill due 1/1 and I received the 1/1 paper bill today. Just checked my Account Profile and found that the Bill Notifications box was not checked and I think that is the setting that controls the bill notification email (and/or SMS). I have been getting notifications each month for quite a while, so I am guessing some Verizon maintenance update caused the check to be removed. I have activated Bill Notification again so now I guess I just have to wait and see if I get one next month.
I suggest you check your account profile to see if the Bill Notifications setting has somehow been turned off.
Edit: I See you edited your post while I was writing mine. I do not use paper-free billing so that is one difference.

Email Client Problem with HP Scan to Email Automator

Whenever I use the screen features on my HP Photosmart D110a printer and select scan to pc and then email PDF it opens HP scan just fine using the Email PDF Automator and the document scans perfectly but instead of being sent to Outlook 2011 it gets sent to Apple Mail. I can't for the life of me find out how to change the automated destination. Outlook is set as the default browser but it always goes to Apple Mail. Can't seem to change it through HP Utility. Any help would be much appreciated.

It is the responsibility of the printer manufacturer to update their drivers, not Apple.

I am having trouble updating a field in my table based upon a set of 7 different rules. I have been scratching my head at this for a few days, and am not sure what exactly is wrong, but am sure there is something small causing me problems. My current code

My biggest problem seems to be that between the piece that updates Field1 as either Value4 or Value5 is that something is not right. I initially had this set up in MS Access, and so am using that as a comparison
to check my final values once the field has been udpated. When I run in Access I get a total of 9,802 for Value6 and 14,107 for Value4, yet when I run the SQL code I get 19,548 for Value 6 and 4,478 for Value4.
I also get some differences for the other values, but nowhere near as large of a difference as with the 2 values above. I feel fairly confident that I have something not quite right with my syntax, but I cannot
figure out exactly what it is. Field1 at the beginning of the query is inserted into the table as a blank value.

Combining OR and AND may be tricky, so I think your problem lies here:
UPDATE MyTable

You can change this to
UPDATE MyTable
SET Field1 = 'Value4'
WHERE (Ord ='0' AND Cat IN ('Hdw','Bnd')) AND Field1 = '';

I want to make a TextField with prompt message but The problem with google code was that the prompt msg is shown only when The textField is not clicked, I want to show the prompt msg even when the text field is clicked,when I type a letter inside the textField it vanishes and when i delete all of it, I'll see the prompt msg again and I want to Load the cursur at the text field when the page is loaded, How can I achieve that?

PDF form submission problem - works in Acrobat and Reader, but not when embedded in browser

Hello everyone,
I am trying to submit a PDF form to an application server.
To do this, I added a "Submit" button to the PDF, configured the server's address and submit format, and tested the button.
I opened the PDF in Acrobat Pro, clicked the button, and my web application received the form in PDF format just as I wanted.
To make it work in Reader, I had to extend user rights via Acrobat Pro, and then the form worked inside Reader as well.
Up to here, everything went fine.
Then I embedded the PDF in a web page (which will be the final scenario) and it all stopped working.
The submit button doesn't do anything anymore, and no data is sent to the application server.
I even tried switching from the form's submit mechanism to calling event.target.submitForm(...) in Javascript directly, but nothing changed (meaning this too worked only when opening the form as an "offline" pdf, but not when embedding it in a web page).
Is there something I am missing? Something else that must be configured/activated in order to be able to submit the PDF when it is in the form of an embedded object?

I tested the submit button both in Reader 9.3 and Acrobat 8 (which is the same I used to RE the PDF).
Apparently I got it working too, but only by deploying my embedding web page to an application server.
The final environment the PDF will be embedded into will be inside a web application deployed to an application server, so I guess my problem is solved.
It didn't work only when embedded into a local test.html web page saved on my PC...

Audio problems on new Alienware 17 but only when there's no internet

Everytime I used my laptop to watch some videos in the train I had issues with the audio: sound randomly disappearing and minor distortions from time to time. What I found was very surprising: turning on games on Steam (so far it's Hammerwatch and Risen 2) fixed the problem, then I could turn off the game and keep watching videos without problems. Tried figuring out the problem at home and the problems disappeared when I would turn on the wifi... So far I have no idea what is the root of the problem, but it would be great to fix this annoyance.

my MBP 13" Mid 2010 running 10.6.4. has similar problems. I like to use it closed lid connected to an external display with apple usb keyboard. In closed lid mode airport connection fails several times or I do get a poor connection, e.g. one or two curves in the airport menu bar icon with significant lower connection speeds. I do connect to a airport extreme n station with does its job rock solid. as my wife uses a two year old macbook and I have got an G4 with a sonnet airport card running both without problems even from a greater distance in our home it seems to me that the macbook pro has serious problems operating with the internal wifi antenna in closed lid mode, maybe due to shielding from the lid?
Has anybody experienced the same problem or successfully found a way to solve this problem? When using open lid mode wifi problems never occurred, but that's not the preferred option for my desktop table.

Email alarm problems

Hi, today all of a sudden, when using ical and I choose to email myself as an alarm I receive the following message "You must add your own card and email address in Address Book in order to be able to use mail alarms." It then makes me open up my address book, where of course I DO FIND my card. And there seems to be no way to "link" it to the Calendar program. Thoughts?

If the card with your name is already designated, the (Address Book>Card>Make This My Card) will be grayed out. If that is the case, just recreate your card and use the (Address Book>Card>Make This My Card) selection from the Address Book menu.
