Email and EDGE

I tried this question on the other folder, but I'm not getting any responses so I'll try here.
I am unable to send email when connected to EDGE. I can receive mail, but I get a "can't send email. Please check your smtp address" error when trying to send. The address is fine since I don't have any problems sending email via WiFi, and I don't have any problems accessing the Web via EDGE.
Suggestions?

Here's the rub right now: It does not appear you can change the port settings the iPhone is using for the SMTP server.
My Mac uses the cox.net SMTP server, which works fine at home, and the iPhone sends mail OK too, when it's on my Wi-Fi network.
When I am away from home on the EDGE network, I can't send over SMTP.
So I tried switching to smtp.mac.com. In order to make that work from home over the cable modem, I had to change the port to 587. With this, my Mac can send just fine. But on the iPhone, I cannot change the port setting even when I setup an "Other" account. You can't change the server settings on the pre-set .Mac account at all. And it is defaulting to the way it was setup: to use the smtp.cox.net account, even after I changed in m email program and re-sync'd.
I think I'd kinda screwed right now until a software update. It's not possible to setup a single email account that will work in my home and on the road.
Love the iPhone, but I hope Apple is reading this. This is such a simple thing to fix!!!

Can't send email with EDGE and Earthlink ISP

I cannot send email using EDGE. Receiving email is ok. My ISP is Earthlink. I contacted Earthlink support and they admit they don't have a clue. I have trid the setting specified by Iphone users guide, Apple mail setup asst., Apple support docs, Earthlink, etc. Nothing has worked.

Thanks for everyone's input. For the most part,I got the same suggestions from everyone here,the Apple support docs, the Earthlink support docs, and Earthlink support rep. All to no avail. For others that have this problem.
THE SOLUTION: You must plug in your phone to itunes, uncheck to sync, and eject the iphone. Then mannually setup the acccount as directed by the Apple support docs, same settings as shown in the Earthlink support docs.
This worked for me.

Email only works on Wi-Fi and Edge, not on 3G

My husband and I both have the iPhone 4. We run different versions of iOS (6.1 and 6.1.3 ) We both use different email providers (I'm with Gmail, he is not) but neither of us can send or receive email via 3G, only via WiFi and Edge.
Our 3G is definitely working because we can use it to browse the web, run Pandora etc.
Things we've already tried:
- Close all apps and restart phone
- Change Fetch/Push settings
- Reset Network settings
Like I said, the only thing we have in common is the ATT data account, so it's not our email providers or iOS.

Update: The problem seems to have corrected itsself (after 5 days of dealing with the issue)

i have exchnage 2010 in our orgnization now working fine , i can send and receive emails for hub and also we have tmg and fortigate firewall(200B) , already install and configuration edge server(configure edge subscribtion file and edge sync) but still message
sent form hub and also receive form hub , what to do to receive from edge ? please help me i have 3 month search to fix his problem.

I recommend you use the Test-EdgeSynchronization cmdlet to check if the subscribed Edge Transport servers have a current and accurate synchronization status. If you have configured EdgeSynchronization successfully, please delete send connector
on Hub transport server.
Please uncheck "anonymous users" on receive connector for Hub server.
Please follow the ExchangeITPro's suggestion to check DNS MX record.

Email and Cox/Edge

Has anyone experienced problems sending and receiving email with the cox server and edge? The only way I can send and received email is through wi-fi. The incoming server is set at pop.west.cox.net and the outgoing is smtp.west.cox.net:25 and I am using MSOutlook 2007. So far this phone is awesome! I have the power of the internet in my hands!

AT&T will provide support for sending E-mail using AT&T owned and operated outgoing server addresses:
* Former AT&T Wireless customers use "smtp.mymmode.com" (Standard POP/IMAP compatible. No SSL and Port 25.)
* New and Existing AT&T wireless services customers use "cwmx.com" (Standard POP/IMAP compatible. No SSL and Port 25.)
Now, before I changed my imap account through cox.com from smtp.east.cox.net to the cmwx.com, I couldn't send anything through Edge... Now that I put that in, it, for some reason, sends through Gmail instead of my imap account. This is a problem, because there's no way to specify a reply address with gmail (as your gmail account is the reply address). So, I'm essentially stuck using gmail pop as my iPhone option... unless I'm near a wifi, but then I have to go through the settings to make everything happy.
Apple needs to fix this... multiple smtp servers (push on SMTP and you can choose which one - or it's just smart enough to figure it out) would be a good start.
Or, the iPhone just knows to use at&t's smtp when it can't find another usable server.

PLEASE HELP! BB CURVE 8520 EMAIL AND BBM NOT WORKING! :(

Ok, i would really appreciate it if someone could help me with my BB curve. i've tried the shop i bought it from and many other people and all ive been told is to send it away to be fixed. i really need my phone every day and dont want to send it away so im trying for a quick fix kind of thing, thanks to anyone who replies.
My blackberry was bought in October 2010 so its not old, from an o2 shop, it was working completely fine and great up until about 1 month ago.
i was trying to get onto the internet and a message came up saying 'unable to connect to server please contact service provider or try again later' or something similar to that.
from this appeared my phone is no longer receiving or sending any emails from or to anyone at all and my blackberry messenger has also stopped working.
i can open my email and bbm but when i open my bbm i type out my message and hit send and the message sends with a tick to show this but the little D for delivered never appears and my friends are not receiving my messages and im not receiving their messages either.
my phone says its connected to the internet and wifi, at the top of the screen the signal is full and it says EDGE most of the time or sometimes GPRS. i dont know what's wrong but its so annoying
i know this message is long but i want to give all details so someone can help me properly, ive tred resetting pulling the battery out, deleting and resetting up my wifi and all that, can anyone please help me? thanks so much if you can! its much appreciated! i can upload an image of what my screen says if it helps just let me know!

Hi, I'd recommend checking to make sure that you still have a Blackberry Data Plan by contacting your Network Provider (i.e O2)

Email and html graphics on iPhone....just seeing text only

I've been testing this and sending myself forwards from my yahoo email and opening the emails in my iPhone, and only get the text only formats. However I can still see the html email on my computer yahoo. I'm forwarding the same email to myself, but on iPhone it only shows as text only. And sometimes it only comes across as 'mime-attachment', and I don't even get the text. This is the case whether I forward the html email from my iphone or my computer back to myself. And also the same whether Wi-Fi or Edge. Thanks!

have you check all your push settings in the email options ? also. have you tried to reset network settings to clear any bad network settings that could be preventing it. go to settings. then general. and reset and reset network settings. this will also reset any wifi you have saved.

Email and Internet add on

hi, i hope that someone can help me,
i have a blackberry curve 9300 and none of the blackberry add ons such as app world, email and bbm work. I have contacted my network provider and i am paying for the internet and email add on that should allow me to do these things. I have been told by my service provider to ask blackberry as i am paying. When i try to use these services the phone tells me that it is having toruble connecting and i need to verify my network connections. I have checked and it says that these items are not connected, how do you connect them?

Is your phone showing you EDGE or 3G or BlackBerry Logo on your homescreen near your Network Signal?
If yes, then ask your service provider that you are facing problem with your BlackBerry Internet Service(BIS) plan (if you have activated).

If they are in a folder, tap the folder and tap and hold the icon and move it out of the folder and on to the screen you wish. If they are on a different screen, tap and hold the icon until it wiggles, then move it to the edge of the screen and hold for a second or two until it jumps to he adjacent screen.

IOS4, MS Exchange Email and Wifi???

None of my MS exchange emails were coming to my iPhone 3GS (with iOS4) yesterday. Today I turned off wifi through Settings (when I was at my office) and now I can receive my MS exchange emails - through 3G and Edge.
Then I turned off 3G in settings and although slower, I did receive MS exchange emails.
Hummmm.... I wonder if this is AT&T or Apple trying to get us to use 3G or Edge exclusively to increase our Data usage?? Since we don't have to pay for wireless Data...... Or could MS exchange be holding out upgrading their software?
Now I will test my bosses' new iPhone 4 to see if I can "fix" her MS exchange email issue by turning off wifi.....

I'm having the same problem. eMail messages are downloaded, I can see that happen. However, the eMail messages are not in my iCloud Inbos. Nor do the eMail messages go to my gmail Inbox. Strangely most, but not all eMails, can be found in gmail folder "Important".
I also had the same problem with Mobile Me, unfortunely at that time I did not have a gmail account. Those missing eMails from the Mobile Me Inbos were never recovered.

Turning off 3G and EDGE Data

I'm considering buying an iPhone from Fido (in Canada) and would never need the data. I'm able to buy it for the $200 and pay $35 a month for just a phone plan, but even without data, you can still access 3G and EDGE at 5cents per KB.
I want piece of mind that I won't rack up a $5000 phone bill accidentally, and want to have my iPhone set so that it will never ever use 3G or EDGE. Is there a method to doing this?
I plan on calling and asking that they do it, but I can never trust phone companies, especially the reps on their 1-800 numbers.

Well considering the fact that my iPhone is on pre-paid, and i only use the internet programs (safari/maps/appstore/stocks/youtube/ etc) when it's really urgent, would I still end up with a substantial bill?
If you don't have a data plan and you are paying for data access as you go, then it depends on how much data is downloaded and uploaded when connected to the internet via the cellular network, and you will be charged by the KB uploaded and downloaded.
The only app that can run in the background accessing data via the cellular network is the Mail client - if you have an email account or accounts automatically being checked for new messages.
If you don't have Safari launched and running downloading a web page, Safari is not accessing any data. The same for the Maps application, Stocks, YouTube, Weather, etc.
Keep in mind that Safari downloads much more data than browsers available with other phones. If a website you are visiting doesn't have a mobile version of their website available, you will be downloading the full version of the website - graphics and all, just like accessing the website on your computer, except for Flash content. Many websites are graphic intensive, so the data downloaded when accessing a graphic intensive website can be substantial with the iPhone.

Email and BBM Notifications

I just got a replacement phone and I get sounds notifications for both email and BBM that I want to adjust or turn off. That said, when I go to the "notifications" area of "System Settings" and scroll down to "Applications" I do not have either "Email" or "BBM" listed in there. I checked a friends phone and he has them in there, and we have the same phone and software version.
Would appreciate any idea of where to go to change these settings (not in HUB management I looked there) as well as why these two would not be listed in that area.

If you haven't tried a reboot, or a reset, do it and then check again. Personally, I would reboot first, then try soft reset if reboot doesn't fix it.

Emails and facebook notifications ...

Hi,
I've had my blackberry bold 9700 since the 11th June. Since then i've had troubles reciving emails and facebook notifications. Sometimes they come though but not for a good 15 mins - 1 hour and sometimes they don't even come through at all! does anyone know what i need to do? i tried a new hanset still didnt do it, rang o2 they dont know as all settings are right their end.. anyone? thanks

In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")

I changed my email and now I am unable to change it on my iphone to get updates

My email address has been changed. I changed it in my itunes and everything however my icloud account will not let me change on my phone. Meaning it pops up asking me to log in but it displays my old email and does not give me the option to change it. I have gone on line and confirmed that it is all changed to my new email but it will not change on my phone. any ideas?
