Email authentication

I am using the mailer feature of lookout to email alarms. This has been working successfully for the last year. ATT/yahoo is the internet/mail providor. ATT is now requiring outgoing authentication as well as incoming port # 995 and Outgoing port # 465 with Secure connect SSL. The emails are no longer going through. I receive an SMTP mail failure. Please advise on how to solve this problem. Does

How often is your refresh cycle when left on automatic? Most mail providers restrict how often you can perform a manual sync (meaning, not push) in order to keep server load down. If you sync every 15 minutes, that should be fine. If you sync every minute on both devices, that can trigger a rate limit.
Just a thought.

  • Email authentication failure

For the last three weeks I have been getting an EMail authentication failure on one or more of my email addresses.  If I do no nothing and let the email refresh on the next scheduled refresh the mail comes in OK, or if I do a manual check it comes in OK.  It seems that if I just leave the automatic refresh on I get the failure.  I ahve not had this problem before, I have changed nothing and I have had this account for nearly 6 years without problem.  It happens on outlook and on my phone.

  • Email access fails authentication

I have recently set up email on Verizon and it works fine through the webmail browser interface. It does not authenticat the password from any mail client (Apple Mail, iPhone, iPad, Thunderbird on Windows) constantly requiring the password, which never authenticates. I spent hours with Verizon support and they are unable to get it to work. All the information is entered correctly (many, many times!) but to no avail. Anybody have any ideas?
Launch AppleMail. The Welcome to Mail screen appears.
    Fill in each field:
    Your Name
Email Address (format is [email protected]).
Incoming Mail Server field, type pop.verizon.net.
    Mail Server Type: Click POP.
    User Name
    Password
Outgoing Mail Server field, type smtp.verizon.net.
    Click OK.
From the menu bar at the top of your screen, click Mail.
    Click Preferences.
When the Accounts window appears, from the Description box, highlight your email account and click Edit.
From the Account Information tab, in the Outgoing Mail Server list box, verify thatsmtp.verizon.net is selected.
    Click Options.
From the SMTP Server Options window, in the Authentication list box, choose Password.
In the User name and Password fields, type your user name and password.
    Click OK.
I ensure the port for pop.verizon.net is 995, with SSL and password authentication and smtp.verizon.ne is port 465 with SSL and password. As i said, it's the same in Windows and my mobile devices and the result is the same.

Sounds like you have an account issue, not a settings issue. You will probably have to contact tech support and get them to put in a ticket to the "OSC" for investigation.

Is there some way to use this code in Lookout or is there some Mailer datamember I don't know about that I can setup to provide the right credentials?  I'm at a loss for what to do and how to do it.  If I can't figure it out, I'll have to use the Run object in Lookout to call a program that I'll have to make in VB that'll send out an email.  In that case, I've got to install .Net on 60 computers in the field and then I'll have to make a series of exe files for each alarm condition and associate individual Run objects with each.  Sheesh.  Well, anything you all can do to help would really be appreciated.  Thanks for taking the time to answer me.

Lookout mailer object doesn't support authentication. We are considering adding this feature, but not yet.
Another option for you is to use other Mail Server. There are some free Mail Server softwares which don't do authentication.

  • User Authentication error when trying to order new 7232-P2

So I got the email and when I click on the picture to order it and log in, it gives me a user authentication error and tells me to hit the back button to try again.  Ive tried using my account number/zip code combo and logged into My Verizon with no luck.  Tried multiple browsers as well.
One thing I noticed, when I use my account #/zip code the back button appears fine, when I log into my verizon the back button ceases to exist and I cannot go back to try again.
I can log into My Verizon and view my account with out issue so Im not sure what is going on and if a tech could help me push this order through that would be great.

Sorry for these troubles. I have sent you a private message on this issue.

  • Avoiding 550 5.7.1 Authentication Required on Outlook 2003

After switching, apparently belatedly, from incoming.verizon.net and outgoing.verizon.net for POP3 email to the new SSL settings ( http://ow.ly/3jpPIF ) on Outlook 2003, I was unable to send email, getting the error " 550 5.7.1 Authentication Required ."
By trial and error, I fixed this by going to "More Settings" in Outlook -> Outgoing Server tab, leaving "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" checked, and selecting "Use same settings as my incoming mail server." The error occurred when "Log on to incoming mail server before sending email" was selected.

    Hi,
Does this happen with any messages that you've sent? What about a simple plain text email message?
As far as I know, 550 5.7.1 signifies an "Unable to relay" error. The specific error "This message does not comply with required standards." is usually caused by a content scanner on the SMTP server.
For example, if you are trying to send an email message which contains hyperlinks in the body, and the SMTP server doesn't allow hyperlinks, then you will probably get the same error message.
I would suggest you have a check on this, or contact your ISP to help with the check.

Keep getting messages "BBID user authentication required" Spoke to my newtwork supplier who told me another email address is registered instead of my email addrress and therefore can't complete BBID user authentication and they can't change the email address but phone is registered to me. Please help!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
No one here can change what is in the BBID system...if you need your specific BBID account (e.g., need to keep BBM contact records, BBWorld purchase records, etc.), then only your carrier can help, either themselves or by escalating you up to BB formally. No one here can do that.
On the other hand, if you need nothing related to your existing BBID, then abandon it and create a new one. You do that by wiping your device and, during the initial setup, creating a new BBID. Be sure, before you do so, that you carefully review the Backup link in my auto-sig on this post.

  • Using mailer without authentication

I would like to use the mailer object to send email.  However, it seems nowadays that all email servers require password authentication.  Is there a free or inexpensive workaround?  I am searching for an email server that doesn't require a password for sending email.  Also looking for activeX emailer as suggested in another thread.  Any other ideas?
Why hasn't the mailer object been updated?  I see others also need the ability to specify a port.  Seems like a good time to update/improve the mailer object.

Well, I downloaded Lookout 6.5 trial version from http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/1579/lang/en, but I still can't get the mailer object to work.  It just times out, as if the .ini file is not working.  I'm using quotes for all the expressions, and I've tried 2 email accounts.  The test button and the send signal both fail.  I'm hoping Ryan can confirm that the mailer.cbx and mailer.ini files are correct *** NOTE, I rjust enamed the mailer.cbx to mailer_cbx.ini so I could attach.  I also attached my tracefile, but it doesn't show much.
    Any ideas?  Thanks,

    Vista 32 Ult
After successful fingerprint login, CSS states that the Windows password had been changed (it hasn't) and then asked me to verify that the CSS password matched my Windows password; this failes, even though the password entered is correct. This dialog pops up until it is cancelled.
I've also lost the ability to use my fingerprint reader to login to websites, it says that
     - the print is okay, with that green checkmark, but then
     - proceeds to say "authentication failed"
The password manager does not show up any more if started.

I have the same issue here.
The fingerprint software is working perfectly and it is properly linked with the Windows password so I can logon with no problems. However, right after I get the message the password has been changed when it hasn't.
The issues start when I need to use the Thinkvantage Password Manager or any other CCS applications. It does recognize my finger but it says "authentication failed".
I have emailed Lenovo and they recommended me to removed the CCS and the fingerprint software. I did it and it didn't work. Then they said I should take my laptop to a service center because it is no longer in warantee period.
In my case, all these issues began when I updated the CCS to the newer version (8.2)
I have read in other forums that it has to do with TPM or security chip encryption. It seems the CCS has not taken control over it. They state all will be fixed once the chip is clear which is done thru the BIOS>Security Chip>Clear Encryption. The big problem is that all encrypted data is erased in the process!!!
I have used the password manager for so long now with no problems that I have forgotten most of the keywords.

  • Yoga 13 Wireless network authentication problem

I recently bought Yoga 13 and it is a wonderful machine, but since I upgraded to Windows 8.1, I can't connect to my university Wi-Fi.
Recommended authentication method for the university's Wi-Fi is WPA-enterprise/TKIP and it's using personal certificates. Before the Windows update, there was the WPA-enterprise/TKIP option in Wireless Network settings, but now it's gone and it only supports WPA2-personal and WPA2-enterprise with both using AES encryption. I thought, that this is driver problem so I tried both drivers available on Lenovo Support site (I couldn't find this driver anywhere else), but that didn't work.
My last resort would be contacting ma faculty's IT technician, but he would charge me for setting my Wi-Fi, and I don't want to pay for something, which was working few days ago and which wasn't my fault that stopped working (stupid authentication method for university Wi-Fi constantly causing problems is different chapter entirely...)
    Thanks for any advice.

It's not a new problem, it's a known problem that no one cares to fix and they continue to sell non-working products. I have a Yoga purchased in Feb 2014, it CAME WITH WINDOWS 8.1 INSTALLED! I invested in a brand new computer to keep my business operating smoothly, only to find out I just dumped a ton of money into the worst peice of junk I've ever owned. The intel wireless adapter is "not compatable"?!? Lenovo had me reinstall over the phone, it worked for 8 hours. Next day- no internet. I took it to the point of sale, they went to the Intel website and downloaded the driver again. That worked for another 12 hours. Every time I move locations and have a new access point, the internet doesn't work. So far the only "solution" offered is for me to send in this brand new business investment to be repaired, which could take 3 weeks. Sure, I'll close up shop so ya'll can work on a POS that was sold with faulty/ incompatible/ not yet compatible drivers (I really don't care what the issue is, only that is is a KNOWN ISSUE that Lenovo acts all surprised about). Every service person I've talked to doesn't have a clue what is going on, yet I can go online and find pages and pages of this very same (unresolved) issue!
-different router and access point does not work
-factory reset does not work, you're just reinstalling the same "incompatible" driver (that mine came with, I did not "upgrade" to anything)
-BRAND NEW, internet has  been an issue since before any other programs were installed.
Now my pointer is missing again, so I get to waste another several hours reading through pages of similar issues to try and figure that debacle out. I miss my 15 yr old VAIO!

  • SSL authentication using client certificate failing on a fresh new Yoga 2 Pro

I am a doctor and using a laptop to login into an SSL server for secure communication.
I was using an old asus with win 8.1 without a problem. 2 weeks ago I got my new Y2P installed the certificate I got from the IT guys and all worked like a charm! What a wonderful laptop.
And then, my SSD vanished suddently from the system could not boot, so I replaced the first Yoga with and identical one from the store. This time- win 8.1 an IE cannot recognize the newly issued ceertificte and getting an SSL error so cannot open the htpps website.
Tried onekey recovery, isntalling all windows updates, using a new user nothing works. Back to the old ASUS all working fine. The IT guys said they never had such a problem, after hundreds of certificates issued the same way.
First Y2P worked without a glitch second one does not.
    Any ideas?

I had the same problem with my new Yoga Pro 2 when trying to connect to some https sites that worked fine with my previous computer.  I asked a friend that's a systems administrator for help and he had me look for marketing / adware type software that came pre-installed on my machine.  He warned me that more and more new computers are coming pre-loaded with this type of software that many people would consider malware.  He said that such software can cause this type of problem because of how it sits inbetween you and the sites you visit (how your information passes through it).
I found Superfish Visual Discovery, which fits this description, was pre-installed on my machine.  As soon as I uninstalled it my https connection problems went away.  You should check your list of installed programs (go to your Control Panel > Progams > Programs and Features).  If you see "Superfish Inc. VisualDiscovery" in your list of installed programs, that is likely the casue of the problem (at least it was for me).  Hope this helps...
