Email - cannot send to specific servers

With very few exceptions, no one with a verizon email account can send email to trinityarlington.org or hardts.net.  Any sender gets a daily email from verizon saying that delivery failed (6-12 times) and verizon will try again for 3 days.  The error is always "initial status response expected".  This is probably a handshake error between verizon and trinityarlington.org or hardts.net.
I tried talking to a support agent who kept trying to blame my email client (a ridiculous approach since the rejection letter implies there is nothing for me to receive).  I have to tell my 250+ member church that verizon email accounts cannot send mail to our pastor, choir director, etc.  And Verizon doesn't care.  (Interesting fact: one email did reach me - the sender was using a BlackBerry so probably using a different email server).
I expected Verizon to research the problem and tell me that they could solve the problem or tell me that the host of trinityarlington.org was not following standard protocol and should upgrade their server.  I am very disappointed.
If anyone has solved a similar problem - please let me know...

Chances are that trinityarlington.org and hardts.net have filters that have either blocked the verizon domain or the IP addresses associated to verizon.  With only a few exceptions, when you get a bounce back message saying undeliverable, it is almost always a problem on the reception end. What you would need to do is contact those hosts and work with them to clear their block or filter.
Now you can try and go through Verizon, but you are not likely to get many results. They will just say, "Can you send to other locations? Yes? Then the problem is on the other end". And rightly so. If it was a problem on Verizon's end you would get a different kind of bounce back stating that it is either a banned site or been flagged for spam. So this looks like an issue on the other ends.

  • Since upgrade to iOS 7 Email error on over 100KB emails "Cannot Send Mail  The message was rejected by the server because it is too large." Connecting to Exchange via Activesync

    Hi,
Following the upgrade to iOS 7.0.3 on all our iPhone and iPad devices, it has been identified that when sending emails around 100KB in size and over an error message appears on the device stating “Cannot Send Mail  The message was rejected by the server because it is too large.” See error message below. The send/receive limit is over 10MB so this is not the issue.
We are in an Exchange Environment using Microsoft Activesync. This issue is not evident in iOS 6. This has been tested on an iPhone 3GS running version iOS 6.1.3. We have been unable to repeat the issues seen on iOS 7 on the older OS. It is not possible to roll back to the older operating system as Apple are no longer signing the software.
We use Microsoft Active Sync to connect to our Exchange servers through a TMG. The issue is very inconsistent, some identical emails go through, some fail. This is not an issue with the send/receive limit as this is over 10MB. The error message when it fails on the TMG is Status: 413 Request Entity Too Large, which we believe is from IIS on the CAS server.
Does anyone have any suggest course of actions to take?
    Many Thanks

This resolution have to attend at the server not with the ios device. My employer's mail administrator reject me to correct it from the server. As his concern is, if ither ios devices works why don't mine? So I am helpless than changing my iphone. It works fine for early versions of ios and with androids. And also one of my friends iphone4 with ios 7 (similar as mine) works too. So I guess it's something wrong with my iPhones settings. But basic question I cannot understand is it works in my phone before this ios7 upgrading. And currently working with my yahoo account too. Favourable reply expected.

  • AOL email cannot send PASSWORD securely to the server???

Hi, When I set up any aol account in mail, and click create, it always comes up with cannot send password securely to the server. This problem happened right after updating to snow leopard. Any one else have the same problem? Any solutions? Thanks.

For years and years most email servers accepted connections that were insecure, meaning that passwords were transmitted in plain text, and the email messages came back as plain text as well.
Now many servers encourage the use of SSL connections, which encrypts the data in both directions. Mail is trying to warn you that the SSL connection cannot be established, and therefore your data could be intercepted in transmission.
AOL's website (http://about.aol.com/faq/openmailaccess) states that they do not support SSL connections, therefore your only method of accessing your email is to use an unsecure connection.
Alternatively you could go to AOL.com (not use Mail.app) and read your email here as this will establish a secure HTTPS connection.
The best solution though is to stop using AOL and get either a MobileMe or a gmail account.

  • Verizon wireless iPhone 4 / can receive email cannot send on Road Runner

Help! I just got my new iPhone from Verizon Wireless today and the consultant set up my email for me. I can receive emails from Road Runner, but I cannot send them. I have tried every setting on the Internet that I can find, but none of them work in order for me to receive email. I got this phone so I could send and receive email...I have read that a lot of people who have Road Runner email have the same problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I am not a techy, but I am usually able to describe to the support people the exact conditions under which errors occur. Why this issue that we are both having, as common as it is (do a search and you will see it everywhere), is not common knowledge is beyond me.
To review my situation: If I was hooked to a Wi-Fi connection, I had no problem receiving or sending emails from my Time Warner account. Once I disabled the Wi-Fi switch on iPhone (as if I were out of range, traveling) and tried to send a message with my TW email account, I got the error message that it "could not identify" the server and then the email would go to my outbox.
I think I have found the answer after about an hour on the phone: a call to Time Warner who eventually urged me to call Verizon about outgoing server settings, a call to Verizon who told me that the problem was with TW and their settings, a call again to Time Warner, and finally I received a call from Verizon tech support to make sure I got my answer from Time Warner! The short answer is: Time Warner has an issue/limitation (Perhaps with the 3G network?)
*The second call to TW revealed what Verizon support suspected....YOU NEED TO BE ON A WI-FI TO SEND EMAILS VIA TW. No problem ever receiving--just sending.* I hope this sheds some more light on your situation. Not a major deal for me, (I'll probably use a gmail account), but it is good to know WHY something does not work. All parties were helpful and patient at least.

  • Email cannot send

I get a password rejected when I try to send. I did the reset process and still no luck. I use EARTHLINK dsl account for my pc and I move the modem tomy mac when i need to connect. I plan to get a wireless when I get theproblemsworked out. I can receive messages just not send

If Earthlink is your ISP used for connecting to the internet, most if not all ISPs now block the use of SMTP servers outside of their network on Port 25. Some ISPs allow the use of an authenticated SMTP server only that is outside of their network on Port 25 (such as the .Mac SMTP server) but some ISPs block its use regardless.
Try changing the Port used by the .Mac SMTP server from 25 to 587.
Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and under the Account Information tab for the account preferences at the SMTP server selection, select the Server Settings button below. At the Server Port, enter 587 in place of 25 and when finished, select OK to save the changed setting.
Test if this resolves the problem.
If not, you need to select/use Earthlink's SMTP server to send mail via your .Mac account.

  • Suddenly cannot send email from MSOffice 2010

Starting Thursday, I began getting a pop-up box in Outlook (MSOffice for Home and Business 2010) regarding my password. Thinking I had been hacked, I changed the password but continue to receive the error.  Since then, I have been able to receive, but not send emails from Outlook.  I am not having any problems on my iPhone, iPad, or iCloud.com with sending or receiving my me.com emails.  In Outlook, i am not having any problems sending/receiving from my gmail account.
Today I deleted the account from Outlook, then added it back.  It is saying it cannot send the test email:
Cannot send the message.  Verify the email address in your account properties.  The server responded: 530.5.7.0 No STARTTLS command has been given.
based on that, i tried using the email address as   icloud.com instead of me.com but get the same error message.
When i open the icloud control panel it says that iCloud is not set up in Outlook.  I activate it and it shows as set up, but then when i open Outlook, the icloud control panel goes back to showing that it is not set up in Outlook.
    Help!!

Sadly, this is still not working.  I did fix the In and Outbound server names, but I have some questions about how to configure the rest per the settings you directed me to.
I have attached images showing you how I am configured now and I am still getting the same error message indicated above when I attempt a test.  The outbound email is still not working.
If I select requires authentication I get the following error when trying to use it.
For the Outgoing server, if i try SSL or TLS or Auto, I get the following error when trying to use it.

  • Cannot send email from pop account when in 3G, will send in WIFI

I cannot send email from pop account when in 3G, will send in WIFI.
I thought it was the SMTP server first.. but when i config my WIFI, suddenly the emails that i tried to send, left my outbox and sent.
    Any idea's

The SMTP server you are using with Wi-Fi would be the outgoing server of your internet service provider... this is likely why that's working.
SMTP servers specific to a ISP would not work on the 3G network. You would probably need another SMTP server. One from your cell provider?
