Hello,
I have read the Apple Mail Services pdf and I have read petrobytes pdf on virtual user setup and I now have it working.
The question I have is if I have a virtual domain called vdom1.com and a local domain called ldom.com and I have a user called "user1" in each of these should I not be able to to use "user1" as the username in a mail client config? It won't let me and I would really rather not give out usernames that look like vdom1user1, if at all possible?

How to make email client account setup automatically select inbound mail and smtp server.
I have the mail service successfully running on OS X Server 10.8.2. I am able to send and receive email as well as setup email accounts on various email clients (iphone, ipad, mac, etc). I notice that when I set up a new account that I have to specify both the inbound and smtp mail servers as well as specifying the user id for each. I am using an SSL certificate that appears to be working. The ports are selected (993/995 and 587) automatically and the default is to use SSL.
However, when I set up a Comcast account - (configured as "other") - I only have to enter Full name, email address and password - and from this it is able to determine that the incoming mail server is "mail.comcast.net" and outgoing smtp server is "smtp.comcast.net". It also fills in the userid and password for both inbound and smtp servers - as well as the ports. I have been trying to get this to work automatically when setting up accounts for my mail server - but have not been able to figure out how to do this - or if it is possible.
In googling - I have found that I can set up several different SRV records such as (_submission._tcp, _imap._tcp, _imaps._tcp, _pop3._tcp, _pop3s._tcp) and these are supposed to provide this functionality to email clients that are able to use the SRV records. I have set these up externally at my registered domain provider - and I am able to query them via nslookup, dig and host.
Is Comcast using some other special method of providing the server names to the mail client setup - or am I doing something wrong - or is this a functionality that needs to be supported on the mail server side as well. I am relatively new to mail servers and trying to work my way through the learning process.Understand the functionality you are wanting, basically one can use Outlook / Exchange mail server as an example. It just happens.
As I understand in the background the DNS _SRV records point to a machine which serves up an XML file and that is the information which tells the client how to configure itself.
I did some research before posting my first reply and found that, in the Apple client situation, even when someone setup the the SRV records + the XML it didn't work seamlessly.

If you were going to persue it you will need to find out the format for the autodiscovery XML file. Also the XML file will have to be hosted on your server, you couldn't likely put it on the public DNS server. -
How to setup excite email client on iphone 4s
My brother bought my mother a Boost iphone 4s and I cannot seem to get excite email to work on it.
The research I did also says you cant even open the emails on phone browser. We can log in ands see new mail but that is it. It must be a dieing email client. I jsut set her up a gmail acct and told her to switch over as they dont even forward either.

IOS 6.1.4 - Apple Native Email Client - Push Notification is not working
Hi, I just upgraded to IOS 6.1.4 this morning no issues Upgrade went well.
Now My Email Push Notfication is not working.
1. Bussiness Gmail Account - Configured as Exchange
2. Hotmail Account - Configured as Exchange
Both Account - Push is ON
if some one send email i am not getting it. I have to manually open the Native Email client then i can see.
Restarted the IPhone Twice.
Any one facing similar issue?1. Removed the Email Account and Added again - Problem Presist.
2. Erase All Content - Restored from previous Backup - No Luck
3. Again Erased All Content - Setup as New Phone - Just add Gmail Enterprise Email Account - Not Working.
Surprisingly - Icloud / Hotmail PUSH Notifications works Fine.
I have removed all My Devices from the Google Apps Administrator page and re-requeste for new deivce and then tried all the above still same Issues.
Now what?

I give up. I just cannot see my exchange inbox in Mail after installing Mountain Lion. My mail is not being deleted. Its still in my inbox I just can't see it. I've tried everything suggested on the forums and nothing is working for me.
My productivity has completely stalled and I really need to move to an email client that is going to work seamlessly with Mountain Lion.

Submit Button Acrobat 9 Pro & Select Email Client Screen
I'm new to Acrobat and creating forms and need help. I've created a few forms for work using 8 Pro, which have been successful. I decided to purchase 9 Pro for home and use for our school's PTU membership drive.
I created a form using a Word doc and the Acrobat Form Wizard. It worked, I adjusted my fields, added a Submit button with mailto:[email protected] as the URL and want to distribute the form as "save and distribute later." This works. When I bring up the form for a test run, and submit to myself I get a pop up asking to Select Email Client - do I use Outlook (a few others are also listed) or Yahoo or Hotmail as my email servers. If I click Outlook, everything is fine, the document gets forwarded to me with no problem (because I use Outlook). My concern is for members who don't use Outlook (or the others). They have to go through more steps by saving the doc to their hard drive and emailing it to me as an attachment. I would really like to avoid extra steps for them.
It there a something I'm missing in setting up my Submit button so it automatically gets emailed to me irregardless as to what they are using for email server?
I have searched for 2 hours and have come up with nothing that I understand. If you respond, please remember to be clear as I'm not a techno person.
Thanks for ANY and ALL help you can provide.You are running into some of the classic problems/concerns for new users with forms. I will try to summarize the issues related to your work:
1. You can create forms directly in Acrobat under the TOOLS menu using the form tools found there, or by selecting the options in the FORMS menu that generally take you to LiveCycle Designer. Questions on the forms should be put to the appropriate forum of these two, since the processing and menus are different.
2. Having the forms be allowed to be saved (necessary for submitting the full form and not just the data that can be imported to the form) requires Reader Rights to be activated for clients using Reader. This activation limits the form use to 500 uses (check section 15 of the EULA for more details) that could be a problem for you, depending on the school size. If you have the form data submitted and do not activate the Rights, then there is not a limitation. Simply import the XML or FDF file into the form when you get it.
3. The e-mail submission you have concerns about is valid. If you do not mind getting questions that it would not work on their machine, then fine. The e-mail submission will not work on all machines (PC , MAC, or UNIX). It depends on the client setup (you have no control), historically requiring MAPI to be active (typical of Outlook, but not other packages). In AA9/AR9 there appear to have been some extensions to this, but a lot of folks use version 9. In fact I have a different version that has come on every machine I have and do not have AA9 yet (AA4-AA8), with even older versions lying around some place. A few weeks ago someone checked in who was using AA4. Since I mentioned this problem, the solutions are:
a. live with it and ask folks who can not submit to copy the info into the body of an e-mail or such.
b. find someone who can add the proper scripts to a web server to receive the data. The school IT folks (if any) might be able to help there.
c. submit the data in HTML form through a cgi-mail or formmail server that is available on many ISP servers (you may have to ask). These servers require some hidden fields telling the server where to send the submitted form data.

Adobe elements 11 Organizer. Setting Outlook 2010 as email client. (Windows 8 OS)
When I try to setup outlook 2010 as email client in the preferences Adobe services is the only option that will show up in the lookup list for selecting an email client. Is there some kind of issue between Adobe organizer and Windows 8?

Using my recently obtained Windows 8 64 bit, I have not been able to get Photoshop Elements 11 Organizer Share File Attachments or Photo Mail to work. From what I have read, Windows 8 has a problem with POP servers. But I suspect that what we are encountering goes beyond that.
At the onset, my only choice was Adobe Email Services for the Email client. After I installed Windows Live Mail 2011, I then had the choice for EMail Client of Windows Live Mail 2011 as well as Adobe Email client but neither solved the problem of no email generated.
a. For Adobe Email Service, used three different email addresses, got valid verification codes for each, was told by the program that I was good to email, yet after the email was prepared, no email with send button was generated for emailing.
b. I have looked at the system with two different anti-virus program...first McAfee and then Windows Defender.
c. I have changed the send to email addresses.
d. I have had no better luck using Windows 8 built in Mail app. In fact, my lack of success with the Photoshop Elements Photo mail feature and the Windows 8 built in Mail app was the reason for my looking for alternatives.
On a comparative note, when I use Photoshop Elements 11 in Windows 7 64 bit, I have the same problem with Adobe Email Service as the Email client. However, if Windows Live Mail 2011 is the Email client, no problems..email generated and sent successfully.
So based on my result, I would say that the answer to your question

is Yes.
If Photoshop Elements 11 support says there should be no problem with this feature in Windows 8, then I would also be interested in knowing the details of its use of the feature to get the expected Photo Mail and File Attachment results.

When I send an email it says that it is sent, but it never gets to the recipient. I am using multiple email addresses to check this and have looked in spam and all folders and the message is just not actually going through. I can log in to web-mail and the message appears in the sent folder and I can resend from web-mail and instantly the mail is received. I also installed another email client program and it is able to send mails and they go through instantly. Only Thunderbird is having issues with this. I have tried uninstalling and rebooting and then re-installing and after setup I still can not get emails to go through. If this is something simple with a setting for Thunderbird I would love a fix as we have been using Thunderbird for 6+ years. Otherwise I will just have to use the other program as it works with no mess

[SOLVED] Web Email Clients are unable to connect to IMAP
I have an quite weird problem.
I have an local IMAP Server here on a test machine.
Kmail can receive emails and everything works fine.
Every other Email Client (Evolution, Squirrelmail, Roundcube) can not Receive emails, even with the identical settings.
KMail:
dovecot[12930]: imap-login: Login: user=<vamp898>, method=LOGIN, rip=127.0.0.1, lip=127.0.0.1, mpid=13428, TLS, session=<SIJ0dhsDywB/AAAB>
Any other

I have no idea where to look up for this

- Install postfix
- Install Dovecot
- Add Testuser
Test with Thunderbird/Evolution --> Everything works perfect
- Install httpd+php+rounducbe

How to set defaul email client to Entourage
I have Entourage 08 and I have set a million times in Preferences\General to have Entourage as my defaul e-Mail client and yet whenever I see a link to send or attach as email, say a file in Preview app, I am always taken to the Apple Mail app which I have not setup or even bothered opening. How can I finally and forever fix Entourage as my permanent email client?
I prefer Entourage over Mail.
Am I doing it wrong?

I am more interested in this scenario:
I am within Preview app viewing a PDF document. Under File>Mail Selected PDF Document, i wanted this by default to open Entourage and not Apple Mail.
I have discovered that for some reason, Firefox, Safari, and Office for Mac now have Entourage as default client. Its the Preview app that keeps opening the Apple Mail whenever I choose "Mail Selected PDF Document" from the File menu. -
Sudden change in Verizon SMTP protocol breaks email clients
On Friday 8/1/2014 between 10:23 am and 3:12pm EST Verizon's SMTP servers changed from sending the following lines:
250-AUTH PLAIN LOGIN
250-AUTH=LOGIN PLAIN
to these:
250-AUTH DIGEST-MD5 PLAIN LOGIN CRAM-MD5
250-AUTH=LOGIN PLAIN
These two lines are inconsistent and are breaking my MDaemon email client, which now thinks it can authenticate using
CRAM-MD5 encoding. This encoding doesn't appear to be supported by Verizon, since I get the following error:
500 5.7.0 Unknown AUTH error -1 (Internal authentication error).
I've had no luck using telephone support. Hopefully someone at Verizon will see this and respond.Important Notice: If your MDaemon users authenticate against an Active Directory, you must disable ... honor APOP & CRAM-MD5 under Setup > Default Domain / Servers > Default Domain & Servers > Servers in your MDaemon Server. Otherwise users will not be able to log on to MailStore Server.

Because BIS is not available on BB10, I was forced to get rid of my @rogers.blackberry.net address. The new BB way is to use only web based or exchange type mail service. However, I need the ability to forward emails to the phone only. I can live with the manual copy/removal of emails from a web based server to a "local" folder on the phone, however, this is not available to me today. Ther is no way to create a local folder for email archival. The BB10 os lacks an email client, on OS7 my @blackberry.net address would benefit from a full line of email client preferences for signature and the setup of a "reply to" address. This is totally inexistent on BB10. It needs to come back!! Cloud services and web based applications are the trend right now, however, local email clients where the emails are not accessible to any hacker with too much time on his hands, where I can have all my stuff in my own secure pocket, is still a required feature for many.
The company that gave us "your email client in your pocket" is taking it back and telling us "use web based apps that everybody else is using"?? I find it hard to believe.
Are there plans for a email client app for local management of emails on BB10?? I understand it cannot send emails because of BIS's death, however it could be use for local email storage, and reply function could open the main email imap or pop account for sending it out.
Thanks,Ok, finally, pop started to work as it is supposed to. Setting up a intermediate gmail instead of yahoo gave the proper functionality. Now emails are sent to the phone and deleted from the gmail server once received on the phone. Saddly this happens only every 15 minutes, but i can live with that.
Now if i can get rid of the "Sent by" / "Sent on behalf" message when replying through the gmail smtp using my work email address, all will be as before, read as os7.. so much pain i wish BIS was not ditched.. -
Purpose of desktop email client
Hi all, I use 4 different web based email accounts for different purposes...i've never used a home computer based email client and was wondering if there are any advantages to it vs. web mail that I can access from anywhere?
i haven't set up mac's Mail program yet, as I haven't set up my email account with my DSL provider, so I have to open my 4 email accounts seperatly etc.
If i do use mail, I would transfer my personal email to that, but my understanding is I can only access it only on my computer; otherwise I would have to have a .Mac account?
Any advice appreciated. thanks
ginaOne of the benefits is that you can read your email even when you're offline, not connected to the internet.
You can setup your desktop email client to not delete the email from the server when it's downloaded, thereby allowing you to still access all your email via the webmail interface that is provided for that account. That way, you get the best of both worlds, offline access to your email on your laptop, but web access to your email when you are at a different computer.
