Email in Photoshop Lightroom 4

The new email feature in LR4.0 is nice, however it does not recognize my Outlook email contacts. When I send an email I have to type in the recipients email addresses every time, or create a separate address book just for Lightroom.
This is kind of awkward. Is there a workaround or am I missing a setup?

Leave the recipient email address(es) blank (the 'To' field), make sure you have Microsoft Outlook in the 'From' field, click Send. That will open a standard Outlook email window, from which you have your normal email contacts list available.

I am having trouble installing photoshop Lightroom.  The program is installed and has some sections blocked off.  I have the S/N #... I need it to be confirmed and activated so i can receive an email to activate the system to my computer.  I am not sure how to go about doing so.

If you have a serial number, you simply need to enter it into the proper fields.
Since you don't say what version of Lightroom, and what sections are "blocked off", let me guess that you have Lightroom CC, and you need to enter the serial number to turn it into Lightroom 6. Here are the instructions: Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Help | Serialize Lightroom CC trial to activate as Lightroom 6
And if that's not the right assumption, then please give us the details.

Google the error message. http://forums.adobe.com/message/4450305 You are getting this error message because your computer doesn't meet the minimum system requirement. Check the link for tech specs :- http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-lightroom/tech-specs.html You need OSX 10.6.8 or later

  • Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 (Student/Teacher): Questions before purchasing

    Hi,
I'm considering purchasing Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 (Student/teacher version).  I have several questions I was hoping to get answered before I do so.  I'll list them here...
Does the Student/Teacher version have all the same capabilities and functionality as the standard version of this product?
The software is being offered as a download by a [reputable] 3rd party vendor.  Can the software be downloaded to more than one computer in my household?  (The same vendor does offer a hard-copy version for a mere $2 more, and I'm wondering if I shouldn't just buy that one to be safe.)
One of the primary tasks I need to do with my digital photos most often is resize them, in large batches.  Does Lightroom 5 have the capability to do that?
And finally, is anyone familiar with purchasing Student/Teacher software?  Is my email address with .edu extension enough to satisfy eligibility requirements?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can answer any or all of these questions!
    -Steve

Lightroom and Photoshop or two completely different animals in a lot of ways. It isn't a question of either/or, but rather when to use the Lightroom and when to turn to Photoshop. The differences are too great to go into a detailed explanation on a forum such as this. I use both Lightroom and Photoshop. Lightroom is my starting point for all of my work, and I do easily 90% of my work using Lightroom. But sometimes there are things that Lightroom can't do, or Photoshop just does better.
Without going into a lot of detail, Lightroom does not modify the pixels in your image file. All changes and adjustments are stored in what is called the catalog, which is really a database. When you want copies of those images to share that include all of the Lightroom adjustments you export copies for that purpose. Because of this approach to editing, there are some things that Lightroom cannot do. That's where Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, or some other editor comes into play.
Looking back, it's easy to start editing using Lightroom. The thing I had a hard time getting my head around at first was the need to export copies of images to share with others, or to send to a lab, etc. As soon as you have that concept ingrained into your workflow I think Lightroom can be a very powerful tool. But it won't do everything, stitching panoramas, removing objects from images, and other such tasks are easier performed with other software. I'm not saying this to discourage you from Lightroom, but rather to encourage you to consider purchasing Lightroom with another product such as Photoshop or Photoshop Elements. There is "interconnection" between the two programs built into Lightroom that makes the process of going back and forth between the two very simple.
You are probably scratching your head right now wondering what I'm talking about. I apologize. Here is a link to a good set of videos you might want to watch. Then, hopefully it will help you make a better decision.

I cannot open my Adobe Photoshop Lightroom program, the message I get is:Lightroom - Opening Catlog:VIDEO_TS.BUP.lrcat then Adobe Photoshop Lightroom has stopped working.  I have uninstalled and installed and the same message appears.

Well, you may have no idea what that all means, but really I can't say it any more plainly.....to fix the problem that you have created, the Lightroom Preferences file needs to be reset. Instructions on how to do that were in the link that I provided. Did you look at that? What part of post #9 in that link did you not understand?
Here is another post which sets out the process of resetting the Preferences file in more detail, see if this is any more help:

I have a Photoshop / Lightroom CC subscription

    Hi,
When did you make the purchase? Can you try signing out of the CC desktop app, and then signing back in?
I'll see if I can get direct support sent your way as well. How much longer are you available for this evening? We can communicate directly as well if you prefer.
    regards,

Sorry to butt in. We used to double-shoot, too, but after a couple of years we discovered it was unnecessary when using both Aperture and Lightroom. Your workflow will be different from ours of course, and one does what one needs to do. We found the duplicate images were tedious and, even though they were quite small compared to the NEFs, they occupied a lot of space that was needlessly redundant. The Mac (or PC) is so instantly responsive that the NEF is offered up quickly so the jpg has no real purpose.

  • Downloading Photoshop Lightroom 4

    Hello,
I purchased Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4 early last week, or perhaps even the week before -- I can't remember. The transaction has gone through and I have been charged for the program, which is why I'm particularly concerned. I purchased the student edition of the program, as I'm a student, and -- after verifying my university information -- I received an email from Adobe with a step-by-step instruction on how to complete my download.
The first step is to log in to the website, but I can't even do that. When I try to sign in, and even though I have an account, it just shows the spinning circle (I don't know what to call it) that indicates that it's logging in for an indefinite amount of time without telling me otherwise.
I'm becoming extremely frustrated, as I'm eager to start using the program. As a student, I don't have $90+ to spend on something that doesn't work.
    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks,
    M

How do I stop receiving e-mails from the photoshop lightroom forum?

You can turn on and off email notifications for a given thread, in the right-hand column, when viewing that thread (while logged in).
If you view your profile page (while logged in) there's a "Manage email notifications" link at the top right, which takes you to a list of all threads you are "watching" one way or another. There's a column of checkboxes at the end - and a header checkbox which fills or clears the checkboxes against all entries. At the bottom of the list is a button to remove email notifications across all the current highlighted items.
There are also settings for general (auto) email notification, in the user profile / edit preferences / Email notification preferences. For example, you can choose whether or not to auto-subscribe for notification, with future threads you may start.
