Email Locations?
Does anyone know where the email messages are stored on the hard drive? I recently replaced mine and didn't get my old ones back. I kinda need them cos there were important things there.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

do you mean you replaced your hard drive?
mail messages are stored inside /users/user/library/mail in subfolders corresponding to your accounts. to get your old mail back quit Mail and copy this whole folder AND the file /users/user/library/preferences/com.apple.mail.plist to the corresponding locations on the new hard drive. alternatively, you can simply clone your old hard drive to the new one. that will give you your whole old system back, not just your mail messages. use Superduper or CCCloner for cloning.

i want to save my emails in an external hard drive rather than my local computer hard drive? is this possible? if so, how? please advise.
It is possible. You can export emails, in their folders as a whole or as single .eml (or other type) files. BUT don't move working folders. Your working folders need to be on a secure place, not a place you can disconnect. Unless you use portable Tbird, still it needs to be on the same drive/usb-stick.
ImportExportTools is a great add-on
If it takes to much space
* Move your attachment some were, (external hd?), they are still accessible, the attachment is replaced with a link. That would free up a lot.
* Compact your folders so you get rid of emails marked deleted.
* Export all old mail in their boxes or individually to your external hd
Make a full copy of your profile. that way its easy to restore all your settings accounts etc if something happend -

Hi mdfree1973.
Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you’re seeing a new email badge on the Mail app, but you aren’t seeing any new emails in the Inbox. Do you see the same issue when checking the inbox from webmail? The general troubleshooting suggestions in the article below will resolve most issues like the one you’ve described.

Help importing csv for birthday email campaign
Hello,
I've used the downloaded data template and uploaded a list of customers. My list shows 153 customers. After I upload it, the name of the list has (84) after it, and when I hover over the name and hit "View Subscribers," it shows 94 items in the list, (at the bottom right of the list, as such: Displaying page 1 of 5, items 1 to 20 of 94).
When I import the csv, through the E-Mail Campaigns > Recipients window, I get a window with the following:
Have you downloaded and reviewed the import template file (above right) to ensure your import file is setup correctly? More than one column in your customer database is updated during this import.
I don't understand what the second sentence means. I've used the template and copied my records into it.
Comparing lists, it is skipping names, and I can't find anything triggering it. The records are complete.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
TeresaHi Vkid12,
You can refer to the script below, which can check if the ad user exists, if not, it will create a new user and its phone:
The input file c:\input.csv listed like:
name, manager, email, location, phone
nana, haha, [email protected], 123
import-csv c:\input.csv|foreach{
try{
get-ADUser $_.name -ErrorAction Stop}
catch{
New-ADuser $_.name -OfficePhone $_.phone}
To create user with the cmdlet New-ADUser, please refer to this article:

Transfer Multiple Thunderbird emails Accounts to Microsoft Outlook 2013
I am using multiple email accounts on Thunderbird in my office.Now i want to shift my mails to MS Outlook.but the problem is that MS Outlook is creating different PST files from different accounts.i want to retrieve my mails in single PST Files.
I also searched but there is no manual method.I heard that third party tool can do this.can anyone suggest right utility for this.
My data is very confidential and there should not be any loss in mails.
I am also attaching my Thunderbird email location with screenshot.Manual method is a difficult task .You can easily transfer your mails from the Thunderbird to MS Outlook using third party conversion software.i faced the same problem.i tried the following utility. It converts all my Thunderbird accounts to a single PST.you can also try the free demo version of the software.

Synching Exchange email Sub-Folders on iphone 3G
There are many posts in this and other forums regarding the inability to synch email located in sub-folders on the iPhone in the Exchange environment. I believe I have found a solution, though I am not an IT expert or even close to it. Here's what I did:
1. On the iphone, tap Settings.
2. Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
3. Tap on your Exchange mail account (i.e. [email protected]).
4. Set Mail days to Sync to No Limit.
5. Exit Settings
6. In your Outlook, drag and drop all your sub-folders to Inbox. I did this one major sub-folder at a time because I have about 4 GB of email, but perhaps it would work just as well if you did it all at once.
7. Once the sub-folders have been moved to your Inbox in Outlook, wait a couple of minutes and then tap the Mail program on the iphone.
8. Click the circular arrow icon in the bottom left corner of the touch screen. Keep tapping until you see all your sub-folders.
DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK as I have no idea if this causes any problems - it hasn't for me, but then again I know nothing about technology. If anyone has solutions for cutting and pasting or synching notes please let me know.
Good luck.So one downside to this is mailbox storage limits. Most companies have hard limits on how much you can put in your inbox... that is why people have folders for stuff outside of the inbox.
But the real issue regarding syncing sub-folders is that they don't sync unless you move into them on the iPhone. So if you have rules that move your mail to subfolders (when they are in the inbox), then going into your folders list in the iPhone will NOT show you that sub-folder "contracts" has new email. You have to open the subfolder on the iPhone.
Sent messages works the same way. The iPhone's sent message folder will not contain the stuff you sent from your desktop until you go into the sent messages folder; this starts the sync of that folder. -
Emails stored where? Moving them out...
Where does Mail store emails? I'm trying to thin out 3,000+ and would like to move the contents of some mailboxes to another location and then empty the rest without having to go 1 by 1. But I cannot find where the emails are stored. And once I'm there, can I move them to a separate folder and have them remain intact?
I think you misunderstood. I specified home folder/library/mail where in that folder - the Mail folder - you would see all your email account folders. The folder Mailboxes you looked into is not an email account folder.
Your email account folder in Mail should read as follows:
pop-"your pop email address" if you have a pop account
Mac-"your user name" if you have a .mac account
IMAP-"your IMAP email [email protected]" if you have an IMAP account
Exchange-"your exchange email address" if you have an Exchange account.
In that email account folder, or more than one if you have more than one email account set up in Mail, you will then find all your mailbox architecture. In each mailbox you should see three items - usually - an Attachment folder where attachments are located if you have received any, an info.plist document and a Messages folder. That last folder lists all the emails located in the mailbox selected.
My two cents is that you are better off archiving from Mail, maybe by creating special mailboxes for that effect and moving emails there and then archiving, then again it's a personal opinion
hope this helps -
How do I stop old emails pouring in???
My Mail app has suddenly started fetch hundreds of old emails and I don't know how to stop it. I have tried clicking on the little wheel that revolves when emails come in but that only stops them for a few minutes. I did try reducing the size of my In box but that hasn't had any effect... What can I do???
I want to see my email on my iPad but I do not usually keep it there for any length of time. It is my computer that I want to be my main email location. To keep read emails from appearing later on my iPad I set my email program on my computer to delete emails from the server after they are downloaded to my computer.
New emails that I might receive on my iPad are retained on the email serv until I either delete them manually or I download them to my computer at which time they will be deleted from the server. Once off the server they will no long be received by the iPad. -

Problem appeared after a new Thunderbird installation that followed a wipe-out bare-metal "recovery" of Windows 7 to a new disk drive. Previous user and registry files are available on a secondary disk drive if they can be used to solve this problem. I was not able to import email accounts from the secondary disk drive.

To get old mail account info into a new Profile which has no mail accounts or not downloaded any emails;
Locate the Profile folder:
On Windows system usually located here:
C:\Users\Windows user name\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\Profile name\
The AppData folder is folder is a hidden folder; to show hidden folders, open a Windows Explorer window and choose "Organize → Folder and Search Options → Folder Options → View (tab) → Show hidden files and folders".
You can locate your current profile folder:
Help > Troubleshooting Information
click on 'Show Folder button
a new window opens showing your Profile Folder.
You must close Thunderbird now - before making any changes.
Transfering data to a new Profile:
* http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Thunderbird
Please note that you need to copy paste the 'Contents' of the Profile folder name, it usually is called xxxxxxxx.default (where the x's are letters and numbers) - not the actual Profile folder name.
Put into the new Profile folder name overwriting the files.
see image below to show you an example of what files and folders needed to be copy pasted.
Profile Backup info:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_backup
If you have already set up mail account and downloaded some emails then you may not want to over write the whole profile.
But you may want to import some folders with emails from old profile.
Download ImportExporttools addon.
* https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/importexporttools/
How to install:
Tools > Addons OR Menu Icons > Addons
Click on gear wheel icon and select 'Install addon from file'
locate the .xpi file you downloaded and click on Open.
You may need to restart Thunderbird.
Then you can import the mbox files. these are the files that contain the emails.
Right click on mail account name and select 'ImportExportools' > Import mbox file -

Extracting difference is attributes for a given row in two different tables
Hope you are doing great. Below is the problem i am facing. There are two tables
1: employeeinfo (HR maintains this table and we cannot alter the records of this table)
2: cmp_employee_info (i have created this table with limited fields we need to monitor for changes, the records in this table are limited).
Procedure:
1: The second tabel stores the same information as employee info but is not updated by HR, but the first table can at any point be updated by HR.
2: A program checks every day for differences in table employeeinfo and cmp_employee_info. If any changes are found it needs to aletr us via emiail regarding he changes and also it updated the cmp_employee_info table.
I have this query in place.
(SELECT cmp_employeeinfo_rms.logonid,cmp_employeeinfo_rms.firstname,cmp_employeeinfo_rms.lastname,cmp_employeeinfo_rms.emailaddr,cmp_employeeinfo_rms.Locationname,cmp_employeeinfo_rms.termdate,cmp_employeeinfo_rms.persontype,cmp_employeeinfo_rms.jobclass,cmp_employeeinfo_rms.assignmentstatus,cmp_employeeinfo_rms.mgrlogonid FROM cmp_employeeinfo_rms
LEFT OUTER JOIN employeeinfo
ON cmp_employeeinfo_rms.logonid = employeeinfo.logonid
where (cmp_employeeinfo_rms.mgrlogonid != employeeinfo.mgrlogonid or cmp_employeeinfo_rms.lastname != employeeinfo.lastname or cmp_employeeinfo_rms.locationname != employeeinfo.locationname or cmp_employeeinfo_rms.termdate != employeeinfo.termdate or cmp_employeeinfo_rms.persontype != employeeinfo.persontype or cmp_employeeinfo_rms.jobclass != employeeinfo.jobclass or cmp_employeeinfo_rms.assignmentstatus != employeeinfo.assignmentstatus))
UNION
(SELECT employeeinfo.logonid,employeeinfo.firstname,employeeinfo.lastname,employeeinfo.emailaddr,employeeinfo.Locationname,employeeinfo.termdate,employeeinfo.persontype,employeeinfo.jobclass,employeeinfo.assignmentstatus,employeeinfo.mgrlogonid FROM employeeinfo JOIN cmp_employeeinfo_rms on cmp_employeeinfo_rms.logonid=employeeinfo.logonid)
The output to the above query is.

I wish to extract any such change with the field changed. After recording the change i would update the second table as well.

Hi,
I just need a report of what the changes are.As another poster has suggested above, you may want to have a look at using a materialized view log instead of your approach. The MV log approach is better as it
a) is maintained by database
b) is easy to setup
c) is easy to maintain
d) is easy to query.
Following is a demo of how you can use it.

How Do I Downgrade From Windows Vista To XP On A 3000 N100 Series Notebook?
Hello. Here is the problem. I have Windows Vista Pre-loaded on my 3000 N100 Notebook, absolutely dislike this operating system and want to erase and load Windows XP. From reading other forum messages I have learned several things.
1) The install disk On Windows XP Home & Professional will not recognize Sata Hard Drives, when it reaches the point of loading where it looks for the hard drive it "BOMBS OUT" with error messages.
Several options are open .............
1) Log into the BIOS, locate the SATA option, and change to compatibility mode.
2) Have a USB external floppy connected with a Sata Driver on it and when installing Windows XP press the "F6" button when Windows asks for any external drivers you want to load.
Here is the problem with the 3000 N100 Notebook series..........
1)There is "NO SATA OPTION" in the BIOS of the 3000 N100 series notebooks to choose. In this model Lenovo stripped the BIOS down to the bare essentials.......and I Do Mean.... "BARE". The latest BIOS upgrade also has no Sata option. Why they did not offer at least this choice of downgrading to XP is beyond me. LENOVO..... I'm not impressed with your notebook. As usual.... Microsoft has all vendors jumping to their tune..... Nothing but "VISTA" at this point in time. What if you hate it??????
2) I have hunted all over the Lenovo Web Site for a "SATA DRIVER" that would work with a 3000 N100 Notebook, no such critter exists. LENOVO..... Couldn't you have at least offered this???? I'M NOT IMPRESSED.
Has anyone been able to downgrade to Windows XP successfully on a 3000 N100 Series Notebook??? How Did You Do It?? Has Anyone Located A "SATA DRIVER" That Works??? IF So, Please Explain To Me Step-By-Step How I Can Get Rid of Vista and Load XP.
Help........Help.......Help........Help......Help!!!!!!!!!!!
RegardsHello Himleung. Thank you for answering this message. Where did you find a "Sata Hard Drive Driver" that works?? Perhaps you could pass that along to this message forum in case someone else that has a 3000 N100 (may also work with the N200 series) Notebook wants to downgrade from Vista to Windows XP.
This is what baffles me to no end. The Lenovo web site has every driver you need to load Windows XP on the notebook.....**EXCEPT**..... the Sata HD Driver......**OR**...... the ability in BIOS to change to "compatability mode". Duh!!!..... whats wrong with this story. I have never seen such a weak BIOS as the one in the 3000 N100. If I had known this I probably would have gone to another brand. They should have advertised this notebook as...... "Non-Geek Compatible".
Not knowing exactly how you could forward the driver to me I did the following....... I created a new Web email location that you could use to send the driver as an email attachment. The address is....... [email protected] This address will exist just long enough to obtain the driver..... and then......"Hasta-La-Vista" baby......end of story......as I do not want to be bombarded with ads, trash, or perhaps a virus of some sort..... although.....I'm SURE we have GREAT PEOPLE on this message center.
I'm not familiar with the "NLITE" program you mentioned. Again....perhaps you could mention where I can get it and what I need to do to set the program up to run the driver.
Thanks again, Himleung.
