Email Migration - Sendmail to Oracle Email

Hi,
I have read email migration manual. They have mention, how to migrate from Lotus Note and Exchange. What about from Sendmail (on RedhHat 9) to Oracle Email???

Notes and Exchange are both systems that handle end-user mailboxes for permanent storage, archival, client access etc..
sendmail is just a mail transfer agent (transport program) to exchange mail between hosts. sendmail does not handle mail user accounts. this is done by local server programs on the receiving machine (mostly by a program called procmail, which writes the data sendmail received into a file, eg. the und users mailbox).
so there is nothing to migrate from sendmail to Oreacle Email, because both things happen on different stages of the delivery process.

  • Migrating menues from oracle 11i to R12

    Hi all,
I have to migrate Menus from Oracle 11i to R12, this can be done using FND_LOAD, but we have to migrate it using API's. Please suggest me the API name and approach. Currently I am investigating on fnd_menus_pkg.load_row and fnd_menu_entries_pkg.load_row . Please let mw know if these are the correct API's to migrate Menus. Any help is appreciated.

If the version of $FND_TOP/patch/115/import/afsload.lct and the table structure is identical on both instances, you may use FNDLOAD for your custom menus. However, I would not recommend using FNDLOAD or any API between different application releases.

  • Migrating data from Oracle 9i to SQL Server 2005

I am new to both. I need to first migrate data from oracle to sql server. After this I need to create a daily nightly batch process to insert new records from oracle to sql server into that table.
As my knowledge in SQL server is zero. Can somebody help me how I can accomplish this.
Somebody told me that I can use sql server import/export to do initial data dump into sql server and after that I can create a link in in oracle to do new iserts for new records. does any one have some example on this. I will really apprecite this if someone can give me step by step example. Thanks

I have been to SQL Server training, but my SQL server databases are off the shelf system, so I don't have to muck with them. Anyway, Sql Server is just MS Access on steroids, so some of the same concepts apply. You need to create an external table links to oracle. The following tidbits I found by googling might help you.

  • Migrating data from oracle to sql server

I have two databases(Oracle and Sql Server) in my company.
I want to migrate some data on daily basis from Oracle to Sql Server.
what are the best methodologies used to perform this task?
Can we schedule this task on daily basis?
    please help me guys

    Salma,
First and foremost, you need to understand that there are architectural difference between Oracle and SQL Server (with the major one being the difference between Oracle's PL/SQL and Microsoft's Transact-SQL) thus, it will not be an easy task to migrate data from Oracle Database to SQL Server. As far as the use of tools is concerned, you can utilize the following tools (third party tools not recommended) to achieve this:
Microsoft SQL Server Migration Assistant (Oracle to SQL)
    http://www.microsoft.com/sqlserver/2005/en/us/migration-oracle.aspx
Oracle SQL Developer Migration Workbench (SQL to Oracle)
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/migration//workbench/index_sqldev_omwb.html
But before proceeding with anything, I would recommend you to read through the following post as it lists down the primary compatibility resources and migration guidelines:
Migrating from Oracle to SQL Server

    Hope this helps.

  • How to migrate a SAP Oracle 9i to Oracle 10g (on a new machine) ?

    Hello,
Do you know the proper procedure of such a migration : Migrate a SAP Oracle 9i to a new machine : HP-UNIX, Oracle 10g.
    My understanding :
    (1) Setup the new machine
    (2) Install the latest version of HP-UX
    (3) Install Oracle 10g database program
    (4) Use Oracle Export / Import to copy my existing SAP Oracle 9i to this newly installed Oracle 10g machine.
    (5) copy or tar all the SAP related files, eg.BRTOOLS, ABAP reports, to the new machine
    (6) Modify all the configure files since the machine name is different.
    Is it correct ?
Is it the most appropriate method ?
Is Export / Import a proper way to migrate an Oracle to a new version ?
Should I use Data Gurad instead ?
Finally, for this migration issue, any SAP Note you will suggest ?

There are two ways of doing this:
    a) You do a system copy using R3load
This will give you a "free" reoganization because the tables will be loaded into the database as if you were doing a new installation. The disadvantage is, that it takes more time and good planning.
    b) you do a system copy using backup/restore together with the database upgrade
This is a fast way to get your system upgraded and if something goes wrong you can still use the old system. Check
Note 932722 - Upgrade to Oracle 10.2 during a database copy
this is a note for Windows but you can adapt it to be used on Unix/HP-UX too.
    And just as a remark:
The "free" support for Oracle 10g is ending next year in June (see Note 1339724 - Oracle 10.2 Extended Support free until July 31, 2011) - after that you have to buy additional support if you want to continue to run 10g. If you run now a migration/upgrade project, why not upgrade directly to 11g?

  • Dependency of latest Migration Workbench on oracle 9

It appears that the latest version of the Migration Workbench (currently available download) has a dependency on Oracle 9; is there an earlier version that has dependency on Oracle 8 rather than Oracle 9? Thanks for the information.

The OMWB 2.0.2 (latest version) is dependent on 9i. But these dependencies are part of the OMWB download. This means you do not need a 9i database on your machine for the OMWB to work.
The OMWB can be used to migrate databases to Oracle 8i & 9i.

We want to migrate the whole oracle Applications 11.5.10.2 to new IBM eServer p5 590.
what is the best approach to migrate the whole Application.
    Best Regards

    Rapid clone is there
    Manually also you can do
    Copy all tops
Ensure tns connectivity to oracle home by tnsnames.ora entry change
    make changes in context.xml
remove entries in FND_NODES for old servers
    run AC
(Above steps do for DB tier then CM and then AdminTier - supposing admin and DB are diff nodes)
    Start services
    This should do the work

  • Migration informix to oracle

Can I use Oracle Migration Workbench to migrate from Informix Dynamic Server 7.0 to Oracle 8.1
    Thanks in Advance
    Alessandro Guimaraes

    Hi,
We have not tested against version 7.0, but the Workbench does migrate 7.23 and 7.3.
download it and try it. If it doesn't work, then you can upgrade your schema from 7.0 to 7.3,. Use the workbench to migrate the schema. You can then use the workbench to generate Informix unload and Oracle SQL Loader scripts to migrate the data from Informix 7.0.
If you need further clarification then please contact [email protected]

  • Error while Migrating Access to Oracle!

    Hi,
I am migrating MS Access 97 database to oracle 10g through Oracle migration workbench. I am using default repository but when I am executing C:\omwb\msaccess_exporter\omwb97.mde to generate XML file by clicking on button Export Database Schema for my access database it is giving

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
You'll see such messages if you have abruptly stopped the export process previously. The solution is to remove all the _oracletble objects in the "table objects" view in the access file that your exporting [source mdb]. Try again after removing all unknown tables [they ususally have an "_" at the start]. This should bring ur export successfully.

  • How to migrate data from oracle 9i database to new machine 11gr2 RAC ASM

    Hi Expert
I need your expertise to advise me what is the best method to move data from oracle 9i database to new machine running oracle 11r2 RAC database with ASM.
Currently my production server running on HPUX ORACLE 9I database with normal file system. My new server is running SUN SOLARIS SPACR 64 bit ORACLE 11gr2 RAC with ASM. What is best method to move data over so it will be consistent. Any guide can refer.
    Regard
    William

    Hi William,
See the note in metalink Migration of Oracle Database Instances Across OS Platforms [ID 733205.1] to saw the Endian Format of your OS. If is the same you can use the RMAN to convert the database to another OS, if not the only option is using export/import (Transportable Tablespaces).
To upgrade from 9i to 11g, see the note 837570.1 - Complete Checklist for Manual Upgrades to 11gR2.
To migrate your FS to ASM the only way is using RMAN, so see the note - How to move a datafile from a file system to ASM [ID 390274.1].
    Hope this help you.

Where I must to modify the parameters?
    regards, Alberto.

    Hello,
    wow - SAP R/3 4.0B - quite antique...
    I found this note: 94541 - DBIF_RSQL_INVALID_RSQL select .. where .. in <itab>
It is suggesting to adjust parameter dbs/io_buf_size =<size>
But I do not think that SAP parameter are playing any role in this - I would say that this is purely R3load stuff.
Do you use latest R3load? If not download latest dbsl and R3load from marketplace from archive.
    I found there version:
    SAP KERNEL 4.0B_EXT 32-BIT -> Windows Server on IA32 32bit -> ORACLE
    R3load_30-10002453.CAR = R3LOAD patch level 30
    SAP KERNEL 4.0B_COM 32-BIT -> Windows Server on IA32 32bit -> ORACLE
    R3load_30-10000894.CAR = R3LOAD patch level 30
Not sure which kernel do you use...
Normally I would also recommend to download database library (dbsl) but unfortunately no such is available on Marketplace.
If this move is done as part of upgrade project - you might be lucky enough to get some support from SAP.
(Anyway be prepared to get answer from SAP: "Upgrade first to supported release and then attempt migration.")
    Best regards.
