Email submit button based on name in another feild

I have a form that I am building. What I want is when you select a name from a drop down and click submit it generates the email to go to that person. In the example below what I want is when you choose yourself from the requestor drop down and then choose your PL, GL, DC from that drop down and hit submit it should email it to that PL, GL, DC.

I discovered George Johnson's post on changing identity at EDIT->PREF->ID->EMAIL ADDRESS which answered one of my questions, but I still not sure about the other behaviours that I mentioned.

  • Email submit button using drop down boxes, cc field and

    I have a form that I would like to have the employees use a drop down box that already exists on the form with names and email addresses and use those names in the to field of an email submit button.  Also, I do have a static cc: address in teh cc field and for the subject of the email to use  an existing field such as the name field as the subject of the email and attach the form to it.

    I tried that but it  does not seem to be working.  I am a JavaScript Novice.  I am trying  to use the mailto field based on email addresses in a dropdown box, a static cc field like cc: [email protected] and for the subject to be based on the company name field on the form.  But before all of that I want to make sure all the required fields are filled out.  help I have been working on this for over a year.  It may seem simple but it's not working.

  • LiveCycle form creation - email submit button

    I created a form in LiveCycle with an email submit button.  The button works for myself and another person for whom I was creating the form for.  However, now that I am testing this form with other users the email submit button is not working.  When users click the submit button it clicks blue but no response.  Because it was created in LiveCycle do I need to do something to enbed the functionality into the form.  The steps to follow in the help file have produced no results.
    Thanks

    Paul,
    I did that and I didn't get any wizard.  Just a dialog box including instructions to save the file as another name and that is it.
    Am I suppose to get something else?

    Then that is your issue .....I am guessing that your tests were done on Acrobat right?
    To be able to submit a PDF from Reader you must Reader Extend the document. Open the file in Acrobat and under the Advanced/Extend Features for Adobe Reader menu follow the wizard to conclusion. Save the file as a different name (I like to have RE in the name so I know that I have extended it - filename_RE.pdf). Now try it with the new file.

  • Add text field into the 'subject' of a email submit button

    I have a form where the client will enter their name, organisation, query and details of their query into text fields.  I would like the text in the 'query' field to be added to the 'subject' of the email submit button.  This will identify different queries submitted by other clients before opening up the completed pdf form attachment.

    Hi,
    if you use ES3 or ES4 you can use my macro to create email scripts with values from form fields.

  • Email Submit Button

    I need to email a PDF form to any person I want to. But when you add the Email Submit Button to the form it requires you to enter an email address. What if the email address is different every time? Is there a way to add an Email button so when the form user clicks on the Email button it brings up Microsoft Outlook and you can type in any email address that you want?

    You need to have an email submit button that, when clicked, sends the email.. but you can set properties of that button and trigger it from another button. So hide EmailSubmitButton1 (or whatever it's called), create a new button, and add script like this:
    // Set whatever address you like in the mailto: line
    EmailSubmitButton1.resolveNode("#event.submit").setAttribute("mailto:[email protected]?subject=h i there", "target");
    EmailSubmitButton1.execEvent("click");
    This finds the submit button's submit node and sets it's target property to whatever you specify, and then clicks it.

  • Email Submit button issue after distrbution

    I am trying to distribute and collect forms at work using the email submit button. I am able to successfully submit the form when in preview mode, however something happens when I use the distribute function.  I distributed the email to my office as a test and when they click Submit they get a Check Names window that says: Microsoft Outlook does not recognize "1. Double-click the attachment."
    I also attempted to use my home computer (where I do not have Outlook) to submit the email and had no problems submitting (using gmail).
    What is going on, and how do I fix it?

    I didn't so much resolve the issue, as found a way around it. Since the problem only arose when using the email distribute button, I just didn't use it and emailed the survey as an attachment through outlook.
    I suspect the problem comes from upgrading Adobe Acrobat, but no one seems to know.

  • Email submit button created in LC ES2 causes Acrobat and Reader to crash

    I've created a form in LC ES2, and included an email submit button. When I open this form in Acrobat Reader 10.1.3, click the submit button, and specify "Desktop Email Application," as opposed to the "Internet Email" option, no email is generated, Reader locks up and requires force closing. This happens also with Acrobat X Pro. With both programs, it happens (1) when the form is Reader enabled AND when it's not, (2) when I use an http submit button with a submit to URL of: mailto:[email protected], and (3) when I use a standard button, with control type "submit" and a submit to URL of: mailto:[email protected]
    I AM able to save the form in Acrobat Pro and in Reader (when rights are enabled), I just can't email it.

    Have had the same problem for years. It crashes for me when i just try to email within acrobat. Not sure if its a problem causes by my work network or if it is just another thing never to be fixed by Adobe.

  • Email submit button - email subject doesn't work

    I have a form I created in Livecycle. I have an email submit button.
    The properties of the button let me change the subject of the email. But no matter what I set that to, when the button is click it will only send the form saying "Submitting Completed Form"
    I cannot get it to change to anything else!
    I am using a manual distribution method (also when saving it will let me rename the form, but then just creates a _distributed.pdf file that is the same name as the form).
    Also the email to never changes. I can set it to whatever I like, but when I distribute, it will also go to the person designated when I made the form.
    I'm using ES2 on Win 7 64 bit.

    What type of CC are you using. The only supported ones are Master Card and Visa. If you are using a different one then it will not allow you to use the Submit. I appolgize, I want to be sure of the issue.
    If you are still having problems the next step is a partial erase on the device. Here is a link on how to do that process:

  • Email Submit button works in Acrobat but not Reader

    I have a form with an email submit button.  When those who have Adobe Reader click on the Submit button, nothing happens.  For the users with Acrobat, the submit button works as designed. The users all have the latest version of Reader, Java and Flash.  When the Acrobat users click the button a box appears asking them to select Desktop or Internet email.  Once they make a selection, the form is sent.  When the Reader users click the button nothing happens.  I'm sure there must be a setting somewhere that I need to adjust.  Can you help me?

    Hi Susan,
    I appreciate we have meandered through this, but bear with us...
    Here is a screen shot of a regular button set up to return the completed form as a PDF.
    Now if you deploy this form WITHOUT Reader Enabling the form, then users with Reader will see this warning:
    However before you deploy the form open it in Acrobat and go to the Advanced menu (in version 9) and select "Extend features in Acrobat Reader" and save the form with an amended name. Then send this new "Reader extended" form out to the users with Reader and they will be able to return the completed PDF.
    Without seeing the actual form it is difficult to work out how the submit button is set up.
    Hope that helps,
    Niall

  • Email Submit Button - Change Text/Confirm submission

    I have an Email Submit Button on my survey, which I am 'distributing'.  I would like for it to do 2 things once you click on the "Email Submit Button":
    1) Text of the button changes once it been clicked on in order to show that the survey was submitted. Right now, all I can figure is how to have the text change when you roll over the box or for the secnod you click on the box-- i want the caption to change once its been clicked.
    2) a text box appears below that can act as a "thank you for submitting your survey...".
    any help and advice is much appreciated!

  • Email body copy created by email submit button

    The body of a message created by the email submit button contains the following copy:
    "The attached file contains data that was entered into a form. It is not the form itself.
    The recipient of this data file should save it locally with a unique name. Adobe Acrobat Professional 7 or later can process this data by importing it back into the blank form or creating a spreadsheet from several data files. See Help in Adobe Acrobat Professional 7 for more details."
    How do I prevent this, or change the default copy?

    jimmy,
    I've also followed your advice. FYI I'm using LiveCycle Designer 7.1. My only problem is that I can't use HTML markup inside the HTTP Submit Button's URL attribute.
    For example, a
    tag in the HTTP Submit Button's URL attribute appears as just that inside the email body copy:
    . There's no line break.
    The default "Submit by Email" body copy message has a paragraph break as seen below:
    The attached file contains data that was entered into a form. It is not the form itself.
    The recipient of this data file should save it locally with a unique name. Adobe Acrobat Professional 7 or later can process this data by importing it back into the blank form or creating a spreadsheet from several data files. See Help in Adobe Acrobat Professional 7 for more details.
    My question is, how can I add HTML markup in the email body copy? Can this be done with the HTTP Submit button's URL attribute or can the Email Submit Button be customized to change the above email body copy?

  • Customizing email body on email submit button

    Hi everyone,
    I'm trying to modify what the body of the email will look like once the user has pressed an email submit button. In Livecycle designer, I clicked on the button and viewed the xml source. I scrolled down to the following line:
                   <submit format="xml" textEncoding="UTF-8" target="mailto:test&test.com?subject=My subject"/>
    Then changed it to:
                   <submit format="xml" textEncoding="UTF-8" target="mailto:test&test.com?subject=My subject?body=new body"/>
    When I tested the button, the text "?body=new body" was appended to the subject line instead of being included in the body itself.
    I wondered if anyone could tell lme where I'm going wrong?
    Appreciate any help.

    What I ran across in my searching (that worked) was to create hidden fields that contained the data I wanted to use. I also used a "dummy" submit button. The "real" submit button was created as a literal submit button and the following code inserted into the click event of the "dummy" button (which is a Regular button)
    RealEmail.event__click.submit.target = "mailto:[email protected]?subject=" + SUBJECT.rawValue;
    //app.alert(RealEmail.event__click.submit.target);
    RealEmail.execEvent("click");
    This code was modified from another's answer, but does the job. The field "SUBJECT" is set as "Hidden" in the presence drop-down of the object tab. I suspect one could add '&body=' as follows
    RealEmail.event__click.submit.target = "mailto:[email protected]?subject=" + SUBJECT.rawValue + "&body=" + BODY.formattedValue;
    You would create the field "BODY" and insert the message text and call the formatted value to fill it in. Set the field to "Hidden" so it does not affect your form layout. I am open to being corrected by more experienced scripters (Please and thank you) if I am in error, here.

  • Hidden Email Submit Button & Mandatory Check Boxes

    Hi guys
    I'm trying to get my form to only allow people to return the form (via email) once they have accepted the terms and conditions AND the privacy policy.
    Their acceptance of these is confirmed by 2 check boxes called acceptservicesterms and acceptprivacypolicy respectively. For each of these check boxes I have added this script to 'initialise':
    this.mandatory = "error";
    this.mandatoryMessage = "You must accept our Services Booking Terms and Conditions to request a booking";
    I have then set my email submit button (EmailSubmitButton) to 'hidden (exclude from layout)' and created a 'fake' email submission button in its place. The click event for the FakeEmailSubmitButton is scrpited as:
    if (acceptserviceterms.rawValue != "bookingtermsagreed")
    xfa.host.messageBox("You must accept our Services Booking Terms and Conditions to request a booking");
    else if (acceptprivacypolicy.rawValue != "privacypolicyagreed")
    xfa.host.messageBox("You must accept our Privacy Policy to request a booking");
    else
    EmailSubmitButton.execEvent("click");
    Where the 'on' values are 'bookingtermsagreed' and 'privacypolicyagreed' respectively.
    Unfortunately, this hasn't worked for me - I'm not sure if the javascript is completely correct, or if I have gone about this the right way. Can anyone shed any light on what I've done wrong please?
    Thanks in advance

    if (acceptserviceterms.rawValue != "bookingtermsagreed")
    in this line the field name is acceptservicesterms but u typed as acceptserviceterms - letter s missing.
    after this correction i am able to see the error messages.

  • Have a window pop up after email submit button is clicked

    Is there a way to have a pop up occur after a user has pressed the email submit button? I need to have a reminder pop up as the form is submitted. Thank you in advance!

    Have you gotten an answer to this question yet?
    Here's what I did:
    I created a regular button with the following script on the "click event"
    EmailSubmitButton.execEvent("click");
    Then created another button (EmailSubmitButton)with the Control Type set to Submit; Submit to url should be: mailto:[email protected]; and Submit as PDF (if you want the actual form to come back to you) or XML (if you just want the data).
    Then I added a script under the EmailSubmitButton's PreSave Event, which states:
    app.alert("Your Form Has Been Submitted.");
    I distribute my form using the Adobe 8 Wizard and it works great.
    I would like to add a script that closes the form after submission. The script I found is
    app.execMenuItem("Close");
    This script is placed on the next line following the above app.alert message under the EmailSubmitButton. It works fine if you send the form manually via email, but Adobe has an error message when I try to distribute it.
    If anyone can help me with this issue. I would really appreciate it.
    Thanks,
    Jen

  • Editing the email on the "email submit button"

    I took over a form from someone else and currently the form is submitting to their email account.(Adobe 8.0) I would like to change their email address to my email address on the form (under the "email submit button). I am trying to do this without creating another new document. How do I do this?

    Open the form in Designer ....click on the button that the user presses to email the form and see if it is in the code on that button. It may also be in the object properties of the button itself.
