Emails sent to exchange distribution group

Hi,
We have a distribution group set up for external's to email a couple of internal's, however all the emails that have been sent to the group have not been going into the distribution group members inbox.
I have looked at the exchange message tracking and can see a number of emails sent to the group.
Is there a way to retrieve these emails so they can be sent to the groups members?
Thanks.

  • VMO and message sent to exchange distribution group

Unity Connection 8.6 with VMO 8.6.7
So with the registry setting voicemailupload_play = 1  --- old VM's or emails with WAV attachments will play as a VM
thru the phone but not light up the MWI.
However, if I send a VM using VMO from Outlook to a distribution group on exchange...all the users receive the email (with the WAV)
and VMO controls but they can't play it back via the phone (the requested voice message is no longer available)? Yet the WAV file is
attached right to the message. Playback from VMO to computer works fine.
Is there a way to easily have this playback through the phone given this scenario? Seems like VMO should be able to handle this.
I'd love to have the MWI light up as well, but I'd settle for playback.

  • Exchange Distribution group

I recall that when I would reply to an email that was sent to a distribution group that I belonged too, it would not send a copy of the email to myself as well.  Does anyone happen to know what this feature was called and does anyone know why or how
    to fix this?
    Thank you!

I dont think it was called anything, but the only way to prevent that is to create a rule ( Outlook) that will delete the  messages sent to that DL in your inbox.

  • Redirect internal email sent to a distribution list to another user mailbox

    Dear all,
We are running on Exchange 2010 and would like to know if it would be possible to redirect email sent to a distribution list to another mailbox if source is internal, meaning from address is *@company.com
Let me explain: We have a DL like [email protected] and a ticketing system which checks a mailbox [email protected] on a regular basis.
We would like to redirect only the messages from our users to helpdesk in order to automatically create cases for their problems.
Have been checking EMC and ADUC but couldn't find anything related to this.
    Kind regards,
    Tudor.

    Hi,
Yes, creating transport rule will achieve the goal.
Glad to know that we have solved this problem.
    Have a nice day : )

  • Unable to open email sent to large distribution lists

Running: iPhone 4, 8GB iOS 7.04 (Note: This same issue was also observed on an iPhone 5S with iOS 7.1.2.)
    Email account info: GroupWise IMAP
When attempting to open an email sent to a large distribution list, the email application is extremely slow or crashes.
Opening and closing an email sent to a distribution list containing 2301 members is very slow.  When opening an email with a distribution list of 6443 members, the email application hangs for awhile and then closes.

I just noticed that with an email open, selecting "Hide" on the email headers allows the email and all subsequent emails to open as expected.  However, attempting to view the additional email header information by selecting "[number of additional email contacts] more..." causes the email application to freeze.

The question is if I want to update "ownership memeber" (not group memeber) and "membership approval" attribute, how can I do without EMC ?

  • Internal email delivery taking very long time (EMAIL WITH attachment sent to large distribution group)

    Hi Fellows
I am facing an issue with Exchange 2010 SP3 (14.03.0123.003) environment. Internal email sent with attachment to an all employee or large-member distribution group chokes the queue on Hub Transport and takes from 7 to 15 minutes to deliver. during this
time period users's emails are also delayed because of transport queue. I am trying to diagnose the root cause for this. Your suggessions and insight might be helpful for me to get it over quickly.

    Hi,
Generally, a message that has a large attachment or many recipients takes longer for a Hub Transport server to process than a small message that's addressed to only one recipient.
In Exchange 2010, after a message is received by the Hub Transport server, the message is added to the Submission queue. Messages move from the Submission queue through the categorizer. When the message is categorized, a recipient's e-mail
address is resolved to an object in Active Directory. This query determines the mailbox associated with that e-mail address and which Mailbox server is hosting that mailbox.
For more information about Internal message Routing, please refer to the following link.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb232193(v=exchg.141).aspx
In addition, Slow network bandwidth will effect email delivery. We can increase the network bandwidth to take a test. Low computer performance will also affect the delivery. If sending internal email without attachment to all employee or
large-member distribution group, will they take the same long time to deliver?
    Best Regards.

  • Delete emails older than 3 months sent to a distribution group

    Hi,
Have a strange request hopefully someone can help me with.
We have Exchange 2010 on site. There are a large number of casual staff who are only at work for a few months of the years, then are away for a long period. These staff are still receiving all of the Everybody emails that are sent out, causing their mailboxes
to fill up and stop receiving emails.
I have tried the usual searches and have found solutions for deleting email with specific titles and for specific dates; but I cannot find any information on being able to delete based on the 'To' field of an email.
    My query is -
Is there a way to delete emails from all mailboxes in an organisation that have been sent to a specific distribution group that are over three months old?
All help is always gratefully received.
    Thanks,
    Peter D.

    Hi,
I have found a solution to this issue.
Am posting it for when i need it later, or if it helps anyone else.
Using Powershell, i use the following code to be able to search using the To field, which in this case is the name of the distribution group.
#Add Exchange 2010 snapin if not already loaded
    if (!(Get-PSSnapin | where {$_.Name -eq "Microsoft.Exchange.Management.PowerShell.E2010"}))
    Add-PSSnapin Microsoft.Exchange.Management.PowerShell.E2010 -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
    get-Mailbox | search-mailbox -searchquery to:"DistributionGroup" -DeleteContent
Now just to add the date variable...

  • Exchange distribution groups

my company is currently using exchange 2010. I am currently attempting to create a distribution group for multiple employees who work in the same department, and need to collectively respond to emails sent to one mailbox. However, these employees don't
need a personal email. How can I create a distribution group and add members without those members having a personal email account in the exchange server

You don't need a distribution group - you need a mailbox that you grant all these users access to.  Technically, you can do this, but it's going to be tricky, and I've never done it myself.  Just thinking it through, you would:
Create a security group for the team
Create a shared mailbox for the team (New-Mailbox -Shared etc ...)
Open the account properties in a tool like ADSIEdit
Click the Security tab on the properties page and click the
    Advanced button
Click the Add button, and add the group
On the Permission Entry page, scroll down to the bottom and select Send as
    and Receive as
That should give the team the rights they need in the mailbox.  To log into the mailbox in Outlook, they will do the following:
    Open Outlook
On the Add Account screen, select Manually configure etc and click
    Next
Select Microsoft Exchange etc and click Next
They will need to type the server name and their mailbox name, then they can click
    Next
If they get a logon dialog, they put in their own username and password, then click
    OK
That should get them what they need.  I do not know if this is supported by Microsoft, though, so you may wish to hear from a Microsoft person for more information.

  • How can I set a specific email notification for an email sent to a distribution list I am a member of?

I have an iPhone 5 running iOS 7. For my job I need to be able to have my phone to get notificaitons from work. I need to be able to have a notification for emails sents to distribution lists that I am a part of. Basically I need to be able to set the notification based on the Sent To: field and not the From: field. Anyone have any ideas?

Create the group. Drag in the folks you want to include in the group. Right click on the group and choose "Edit Distribution List" and a window will pop up showing which addresses are selected in bold, and those that are not selected in plain text. Just click on the emails you want to use and it switches the selected address.

  • Exchange Distribution Groups not updating in Active Directory

    Hi all,
I'm not sure if this is intended behaviour or not, but any distribution group we create in Exchange ECP does not update in Active Directory Users and Computers. Any particular reason why?
For example, we have a user group called "Managers" and we've recently created a new group called Area Managers. We've since moved some people out of Managers and put them in Area Managers, however in Active Directory all we see is the Managers
group with all the old managers in there. The OU for the Area Managers group has been set correctly.

    Hi,
Please run the following command to confirm the members of two groups.
    Get-DistributionGroupMember -Identity Area Managers
    Get-DistributionGroupMember -Identity Managers
I also suggest to remove the member from “Managers” in AD then check the members of “Managers” in EAC to check this problem.

  • How to get Exchange Distribution Groups in Mail on iPad / iPad 2

    Hello...
Maybe I'm missing something, but for some reason, the distribution groups I create for myself in Exchange 2010 ( personal mailbox ) are NOT showing in Mail on my iPad. Is there something that I need to do in order for them to sync?
I appreciate any help someone can give!

just start started using Exchange Online and also discovered this. Shared mailboxes and distribution group doesn't work on iOS devices and also OSX Mail.App, unfortunatly.

  • Hosted Exchange Distribution groups i am part of

    Hello,
I have setup a Hosted Exchange environment, i am filtering on ExtensionAttribute1 between company's.
Now when i create a Distribution group with ExtensionAttribute1 filled in this is still displayed when a users goes to OWA --> Options --> Groups When the user clicks on the butten to let him decide where to be a member of he will see all Distribution
Groups there are, regarding what i set in ExtensionAttribute1, so i have to hide all my Distribution Groups.

The only workaround is to remove the group option from OWA as the Address book Policies (ABP), that I assume you setup, don't effect that view.
ABP's don’t apply to the Get-Group cmdlets. Therefore, any user or process that is able to run Get-Group will see all members of any group
    they have access to.
We recommend that you modify the group management settings of the OWA Options so users can’t use Outlook Web App to manage groups. To prevent users from using OWA Options to manage groups,
exclude the users from the MyDistributionGroupMembership RBAC role. For details, see MyDistributionGroupMembership role.

  • Cannot "Reply To" email sent via exchange

    Specs. - SBS 2003 SP2 / IPhones 2nd generation
I have a client who I setup to receive email from their exchange server to their IPhones. No problems with send or receive. They needed to change the "reply to" address in their exchange accounts to "SmartOfficeSolutions.com". Since that happened they can receive mail but not reply to it. The email accounts are as follows: SmartOfficeSolutions.com is forwarded to AlAlpert.com.

I forgot to mention that I verified her settings were correct and had her type password in to confirm it was correct.
