Emails sitting in Outbox - delay sending being set to 17:00 by default

I am using Outlook and Exchange 2010 on a SBS server, emails from two users are not being sent, i.e they are sitting in the Outbox. On closer inspection
the delay sending time is set to 17:00. If this is removed the email goes. I believe this is a problem with a corrupt 'normal.dotx' file but if the template is replaced Outlook replaces it with the corrupt one. In the meantime I have created a new message
template with the delay time set to 00:00 and used a macro to display it and it works fine. Is there a fix for this problem?

Hi,
From your description, emails from two users are sitting in the Outbox and not being sent when the delay sending time is set to 17:00.
Delay or schedule sending email messages is an Outlook feature. Actually, we have a dedicated support team regarding the Microsoft Office Outlook. I recommend you ask your question on our Outlook forum which is staffed by more experts specializing in this
kind of problems. Thanks for your understanding.
Hope it helps.

  • Email sits in outbox when sending

I have an intermittent problem where mail sent using an exchange account sits in the outbox until I go into the outbox, retrieve it and click send again. This does not happen all the time, which is a problem, since I never know if the mail is sent or not without checking the outbox. Anyone else have this issue? I am running 3GS with 4.1.

Do you have any single bars when this happens, and does it say "3G" at the top of the screen by the AT&T logo?

  • Emails sitting in outbox

Emails sitting in outbox- message says "no password provided- go to mail account settings and enter password" however when I do this it then says server does not support password authentication!! It should not be this hard to send an email. I have checked settings a hundred times, is there a simple solution? Very frustrating! Thanks

possibly like me you don't use the pop3/x email a lot but want to send from time to time.
in "fetch', i've selected a "manual" fetch instead of at various time intervals and what's happening is sent emails go into the outbox until a "fetch" occurs, either at a time interval like my pc or when i do a manual fetch.
all sent emails go into the outbox until the fetch occurs and then, only will the mail be sent but you'll receive whatever's available into the inbox.
i find it easier to text to an email address than dink with this pop3 email.
to save downloading everything on the fetch, i check cox.mail or rr when i was in hawaii to see if i need to reply to something.
    hope this helps.

  • Sent Email Sits in Outbox

It is weird that this problem came out of the blue. Started about 1 week ago, everyone of my SENT email gets stuck in  Outbox. I have to manually open EACH email in the Outbox and click Send again. Then they will go out to their destinations. This happens
to all my emails. It does not matter whether the email has attachment or not. Clicking F9 / Send and Receive all folders button does NOT send the emails in the Outbox. I checked the Options and the Send Immediately box is checked.
My setup: Win8 64 bit, Outlook 2010 64 bit, Norton Security Suite V21.
    Please help. Thanks,
    Hai

    Hi,
Many reasons may cause such issue, such as:
    1. An add-in that marks items read if you view the Outbox
    2. Wrong password or not authenticating properly with the mail server
    3. Outlook or the mail server is offline
    4. No default email account is set
    5. Corrupt Send and Receive Settings
Please refer to the following article and try the steps to troubleshoot the problem:

Please let me know the result.

  • How to send email sitting in outbox?

I wrote** an email on my iPod touch and when I sent it, there was a server error. I know this sometimes happens because Gmail servers sometimes go down. This was exactly the case because my laptop was also having trouble connecting to Gmail's outgoing server. In any case, now my written** email is sitting in the outbox and I have no idea how to execute the send command. When I tap on the email, it opens it but there is no "send" or "re-send" command. There's the "reply" and "forward" command but neither fit the bill.
(**) I think writing an email on the iPod touch is a misnomer. We need a new verb like "peck" so maybe "I pecked an email on my iPod touch...." tee heee.... Yes, I'm a touch typist (and fast one at that) so it's pecking to me and not typing.
Message was edited by: Conal Ho

Ah! I see the iPod touch has re-sent the message on its own. That's good.
Still, I wonder how to re-send a message that I find in my "Sent" box, for instance.

  • Email sitting in outbox

I have noticed that over the past month or so, that emails will sit in my outbox for up to 2 minutes. All of my users are experiencing the same issue. The odd thing is that it's not consistent. Sometimes, emails will leave immediately. Other times, they will delay for up to 2 minutes. Everything does send out, so this is more of an annoyance than a serious issue. But i’d still like to get to the bottom of it.
These are emails with no attachments. I eliminated it being a DNS issue by using the IP address as the SMTP server. I still get the delay.
I am also having a handful of users saying that some (certainly not all) incoming and outgoing emails are being delivered several hours later. (Not sure if this is related). Some as long as 12 hours. I have tested most major domains and all get delivered within 5 minutes. (Gmail, .mac, yahoo, comcast, AOL, etc)
We did do an update on the server from 10.4.2 (possibly 10.4.3) to 10.4.8 about a month ago, then recently to 10.4.9. The problem may have started after that first upgrade, but I cannot be certain. Were running an xServe G5. We recently started a iChat server as well. I did disable the jabber server and still had the same issue tho.
This happens from 5 different offices (MD, PA, VA, NJ, TX) as well as Comcast home users. so everything points to the Email server (or possibly our ISP)
I have yet to find any type of fix for this issue and was hoping someone here would have some advice for me.
If you need any more info, let me know.
    Thanks all!!

  • Email stuck in outbox if sending mail from a shared mailbox

    Hi,
Some user mailboxes have recently been migrated from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010.  Shared mailboxes are located on Exchange 2003 still for the time being.
Some users have send as permissions to a shared mailbox.  In Outlook the users are logged in as themselves and using the from field send an email from the shared mailbox.
The email is sent and delivered to its recipient.
The email is however stuck in the outbox of the users mailbox.
I have tried recreating the Outlook profile, windows profile and using a different PC, but the mails still get stuck in the outbox.
If outlook is changed to use cached mode then the emails are delivered.  We don't want customers using cached mode though.
If I migrate the shared mailbox to Exchange 2003 I still have the problem.
If I migrate the users mailbox to Exchange 2003 then the problem goes away.
On the Laptop I am testing this on it is Windows 7, Office 2003.  I have also tested on another computer with Windows 7 and Outlook 2007. Outlook safe mode doesn;t help or turning off windows firewall.
Has anyone experienced a similar issue?
    Regards
    Matt

    Hi,
Based on your description, I found this kb below:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2703723/en-us
This problem occurs when all the following conditions are true:
Your Outlook profile is configured in online mode (not cached Exchange mode).
You have the DelegateSentItemsStyle registry value set to 1.
There is no resolution to this problem other than to either switch your profile to cached Exchange mode or set the DelegateSentItemsStyle registry value to zero (0).
Note If you set DelegateSentItemsStyle=0 in the registry, email messages that you send from a shared mailbox will be copied to
your Sent Items folder and not the Sent Items folder of the shared mailbox.
    Important
This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the
registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry,
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Back-up-the-registry
    1.Exit Outlook.
    2.Start Registry Editor.
Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search
box, and then press Enter. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click
    Allow.
3.Locate and then select the following registry key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\x.0\Outlook\Preferences
(Note In this key path, the placeholder x.0represents 15.0 for Outlook 2013, 14.0 for Outlook 2010, 12.0 for Outlook 2007, and
    11.0 for Outlook 2003.)
    4.Select the DelegateSentItemsStyle value.
5.On the Edit menu, click Modify.
6.Type 0, and then click OK.
    7.Exit Registry Editor.
    8.Start Outlook.

  • Sharepoint Emails Sitting in Queue, Alerts not being sent out via email nor sms

I'm using Sharepoint 2013 Enterprise Edition on Windows Server 2008 R2. I have the mobile account setup correctly (account tested successfully) and I have the email setup for use with gmail (have configured the virtual IIS 6.0 manager to connect to gmail.
Currently when I set alerts they take on sharepoint but nothing is making it outside of the server. I have correctly mapped the mail and mobile phone functions and synchronized the user profiles from the active directory. Configured the Forms Based authentication
    (All of which work).
When I look on the virtual smtp manager I can see a large number of connections from unknown IP addresses connecting as my public IP (Suspect bots or spammers spoofing my IP address). I have checked online and the server is not blacklisted. When I look in
the mail root file there I can find the emails / alerts sitting in the queue but going no where. If I manually move a .EML file to the drop folder after a small amount of time I see the file disappear so I know it's going somewhere. Can someone please help
    me out here?
I've attached the SMTP Service log below as you can see there are a large number of code 550 which means unable to relay. I'm struggling to understand how that can be when my accounts are all configured correctly?

Yes, it probably would be easier to use an existing relay (and easier to manage). I'd use that, instead.
You can also open one of those EML files to check the x-sender/x-receiver headers.

This post is my own opinion and does not necessarily reflect the opinion or view of Microsoft, its employees, or other MVPs.
Alright I'm set to relay through the internal mail server however in the EML file I'm not seeing an x-sender or x-recipient which is weird. Shouldn't SP2013 automatically populate that info?

  • Email stuck in Outbox when sending to multiple recipients.

I am using Outlook 2010.  When I forward an email to multiple recipients it gets stuck in the Outbox.  I have reduced the number of recipients and the same email will sale on through.  I am getting an error code 0X8DE00006 and MS disavows
any knowledge of it.  Is there a cure or do I have to send the forward email several times to small groups?

    Hi,
From your description, I recommend you check if you limit the number of recipients you can have on an email.
If yes, please increase the value and check the result.
    Hope it helps.

  • How to stop emails in outbox from sending?

    Hi,
    I've for a HUGE problem.
Basically, I tried sending 400 emails at once today. Upon selecting all and pressing send, a box popped up saying "cannot send message" because my account does not have a preferred outgoing server (and also I received a pop up saying that it can't verify the certificate). The problem is that these popped up 400 times and I am unable to close them / click on anything with the mail app open.
The emails are sitting in my outbox (and so I cannot send them via web mail to fix it). Every time I force quit and reopen to try and fix the issue, the emails start resending and it crashes (so I can't sort the server issue).
Is there any way around this? Or is there a way to stop auto sending of emails in my outbox WITHOUT mail being open?
Sorry for the long post...I need help please!!!

I had same problem.  I finally left the mail to sit for an hour or so.  Then I clicked send for each email.  Finally got them all sent.  Wish I knew a way to batch send.  Good luck!!!

  • Yosemite latest update has broken yahoo email from mail.app. Emails won't collect or send. Tried deleting the yahoo account, now I can't re-add it - "an unknown error has occurred"

Did the latest update to Yosemite last night. All day my mail has played up. Either it won't collect email from IMAP for long periods, or sent emails would just sit in outbox then send them periodically.
I've now tried deleting and re adding the account. But it won't re add correctly - I either get "an unknown error has occurred" when I try and add it as a "Yahoo" account, and if I try adding it as "other email account" it syncs up around 300 email messages and then won't work.
Please help, email is a vital cog in my day to day Mac use.
    Thanks

This worked for me for my Yahoo.

  • Email WONT send - sits in outbox folder

For some reason, although I can send email, my outgoing emails will NOT send - instead they stay in the outbox. Any idea how to fix?! THX!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
    Please clarify this confusion:
Your subject line - "email WONT send - sits in outbox folder"
Where you say -- "although I can send email"
And finally where you say -- "my outgoing emails will NOT send - instead they stay in the outbox"
So that's two votes for failure, and one for success. Can you clarify please?
    Thanks!

  • Cannot send email via AOL on iPad2 - "A copy has been placed in your Outbox. Sending the message content to the server failed."

My CEO has an ipad2 and I set it up w/ AOL.  She cannot send any email via her AOL account from her iPad.  She gets a message that says "A copy has been placed in your Outbox. Sending the message content to the server failed."   We've tried it on wifi and on 3G (Verizon version).  I've removed the account and added it, I've tried setting it up as an IMAP account vs. using Apples standard AOL mail setting and nothing seems to work.  The SMTP settings are smtp.aol.com, port 587.  I've tried adding an alternate server/smtp, but I haven't been able to find anything that works.  Any advice or other people having this issue?  It works fine sending an email from her aol web mail.  And unfortunately, having her sign up for a gmail account is not an option.  Thanks

Interesting.  Firstly I have been on AOL since the early 90s with no current intention to switch as my primary personal email account.
I have two email accounts on my iphone - AOL and my email from my business website.  I deleted both and then recreated first the business account and then the AOL account.  Same error.  Then I wasn't sure what you suggested but I turned off the AOL SMTP server and selected the business email SMTP server by turning it on with the same result.  I still get the error "A Copy has been placed in your Outbox.  Sending the mssage content to the server failed."
Perhaps this problem will get fixed by IOS 6.   AOL will not talk to me unless I pay and Apple says its not their problem.  So for the time being I use the AOL web interface in the iPhone's Safari to send emails from the phone.

  • Outgoing emails from one account go into an 'outbox' instead of being sent

Have multiple email accounts in Mail on iPad which were all working fine. One of the AOL accounts began putting every email I try to send into the outbox instead of sending them. No error message - just 'this email has been placed in your outbox.'  All settings/servers are identical to the accounts that are working properly.  Deleted the offending account and then added it back.  No change.  Once, and only once, the emails sitting in my outbox just randomly sent.  Some were a couple of weeks old.  My workaround now is to open the email in the outbox and change the 'from' field to any one of the other 6 accounts - then it sends.  This is not a good solution however because I set up these different accounts for different purposes.  The offending email account works fine on both my Mac and my iPhone - when I send an email from the same account on those devices, it sends.  Suggestions?

Thank you Chris CA - I double-checked - I do have correct username & password in outgoing mail server.
Again, no error message when I try to send - nothing about username or password or server....the only message I get is "placed in your outbox"

  • Outlook 2010 Delayed Delivery Email not leaving Outbox

    Hello,
My users are experiencing the following issue:
    1. Email is created with delayed delivery at a later time.
    2. User closes Outlook 2010 for the day.
    3. When user reopens Outlook 2010 the next morning, the message is still sitting in the Outbox and was never sent.
The problem is this was not the case with Windows XP/Outlook 2003/Exchange 2007 in online mode. Where the user would be able to send the delayed email then shutdown his/her computer and the message would be submitted and sent from exchange.
My users are now on Windows 7/Outlook 2010 users are still on the same Exchange 2007 server. The clients are now using Exchanged cached mode.
Please let me know what the problem could be.
    Thanks and regards.

I posted this on Microsoft home page as well. there is an issue with the plugins below. the stuff in gray is what led me to my solution for me below.
Disable AVG's addin - it's known to cause problems.
I have been using AVG for the past 5 years.  I had the issue before I upgraded to AVG 2011.  I've never had a problem until I moved to Office 2011. I don't recall if I stated using delayed delivery before I upgraded to Outlook 2010, however.
So that is what my guess was going to be.
I have not tried to disable the AVG add-in yet because it does not happen that often (that a message gets stuck in the Outbox with "none" as the delivery date).
    Todd
I was having this problem as well. I did NOT have this plugin. but i got thinking about 3rd party plugins. I have the "Google calendar calender Sync" tool that syncs my outlook calendar and my Google calendar together 2 ways. As soon as i disabled this it went
through no problem. its possible that other 3rd party plugins are not allowing it to function as desired as well. i suggest disabeling all the 3rd party add-ins and and running a test. mine is now working like a champ
