Just read an article about launch of "firesheep" It is an Firefox Ad On that permits stealing info from people using Wi Fi. Since Firefox is for security, why don't they block this add on?

Yes, they could "blocklist" it, but that won't do anything to fix the real problem - the lack of security in general, and in particular with wi-fi connections and the most popular domains. 
It's not available from the official Addons website - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/- so Mozilla isn't distributing it. 
The name - FireSheep - isn't a tip-off about that extension? 
Like, maybe it's a learning experience about the perils of the internet? 
And it's there to prove a point about security, or the lack thereof on some of the most popular domains on the internet?

I think of that as a learning experience for user's, you get burned once and maybe you'll spend some time learning about web security. Of course, some user's don't learn not to touch something hot the first time they're burned, some people will need to get burned two or three times before they learn not to pickup something that's hot.

Adobe Reader - Continued Vulnerabilities - Embarrassing

It is simply embarrassing that Adobe can't stop releasing products with so many security vulnerabilities. Do to the latest vulnerability in 9.1, our organization of over 5000 employees will never use your product again. Additionally, the news is spreading quickly about all the vulnerabilities in Adobe and sooner or later no one will use it or move to another solution.
In my opinion, the only thing that developers should ever work on again in Adobe Reader is security! We don't need new features -- all users want to do is simply view PDF files! This should not be a hard product to secure, and it doesn't need to be 138MB to install.
I would understand is this was an incredibly complex application to secure like a Web browser, or email client. But this is just a program for one simple purpose -- viewing PDF files! Focus all efforts on securing the product and nothing else. There is no excuse for another Adobe vulnerability.
I am a software engineer and understand that programmers are human, but the repeated flaws in your software is simply embarrassing!

If possible I would like to know who specifically is responsible for the latest fault. They should probably be fired.
We need to start pointing our finger at specific programmers who were at fault for vulnerabilities and have a database to search for history of faults. Maybe this is the only thing we can do to make people care enough to design secure software.
This is an embarrassment and Adobe's programmers should be ashamed.

I partially agree with this post, but I seriously doubt that an organization of 5000 employees can drop software just like that - and I also seriously doubt that a software engineerhas any say in whether said organization changes software at the drop of a hat...or vulnerability in this case. Why don't you get a job at Adobe and fix it?
You should go to www.securityfocus.com and sign up for the notification on security vulnerability events...even Symantec has vulnerabilities in it that can be exploited...I signed up for ONE day before I got tired of the amount of email traffic generated.
There's a vulnerability, there's a work-around for it to semi-block the avenue of attack. What Adobe NEEDS to work on is not just securing their product in a more organized manner, but also provide work-arounds that can't be changed by the end-users in a business environment. What's the point of creating a GPO to fix a setting when it can be bypassed on purpose or inadvertently????

WebHelp ActiveX option not visible to users

Launching our WebHelp from the "Help" link in our browser-based application, users get the help in a new window but they do not get the message about enabling ActiveX that I see when I launch the help locally... which means that they do not get the Search field in the toolbar nor in the Search tab, and the Search tab is an embarrassing (and confusing) list of every possible item that might be searched. It also means they don't see the colors of the skin we created for the toolbar, because the ActiveX toolbar doesn't replace the default WebHelp toolbar.
This WebHelp was created with RoboHelp 7, running in IE 8.
Any ideas how to at least give our customers the option to allow ActiveX?

In this particular case I do believe ActiveX is a bit of a misnomer. ActiveX normally refers to a specific control. An applet in the browser. It's specific to Microsoft Internet Explorer. You can read more about ActiveX at the link below.

What happens is that Microsoft Internet Explorer posts the YIB with a rather generic ActiveX warning because it is seeing the JavaScript. I dunno, maybe IE uses an ActiveX control to interpret the JavaScript. That's far beyond my capabilities to explain.
So to answer your question, yes your users will need a JavaScript enabled browser in order to see your WebHelp skin in all its glory.
Assuming your IT peeps have allowed you access to these settings, you might investigate changing some options for IE as described in the link below:

WHERE IS FLASH? I AM EMBARRASSED

I am embarrassed as an iPhone owner that we still have no Flash support. This is ridiculous. I am sure there are some robot answers as to why this has not happened yet. Can anyone provide me with a REAL answer. This is ridiculous.

Without going into a debate about intellectual property and what some describe as the paradoxes thereof.
I clicked on your profile, and it mentions you work in "Marketin and Advertising". As such you are probably familiar with the restrictions that some companies have with using their logos on web pages, print media, etc.
Flash is like one of those logos, and Adobe controls how it is used. The analogy breaks down somewhat, because they make it easy to create content with it, but instead control what is needed to read it. Kind of like you can use our logo, but only in a way that requires our decoder ring to view. They haven't set out guidelines that would allow anyone else to make a Flash player for the iPhone in a satisfactory manner. The current options from Adobe are either Flash Lite which is designed to work in the limited user interface of most cell phones, and doesn't have all the functionality of Flash, and Flash which is designed to have relatively generous resources available on a desktop or portable computer.
So as it stands, Adobe has said you can either have it at less than 1/8 inch (Flash Lite), or it has to be bigger than 8 inches for larger media. The problem is it is either too small, and not full useful, or its too large to allow other things to exist.

Why Censor Our Forum Topics? Embarrassment?

Some of you may be experiencing a problem listening to radio streams in Safari. In a nutshell, after you initiate a live feed, if you then switch tabs or minimize the window, Safari stops playing the stream. It's not related to video, it's only audio streams. It's reproducible, so try it and see.
Annoying for users, huh?
Safari seems to be the only browser enjoying this idiosyncrasy. Try the same in Firefox, Camino, and countless others and you won't have a problem.
This must be rather embarrassing for Apple too.
Naturally, a lot of people are seeking a solution to this oddity, not least on support forums. Now, what do you make of this?

When will the "Well, this is embarrassing..." problem going to be fixed? A lot of folks are having the problem. Do I need to just switch back to Safari?

When I log onto Moz., get an error message starting with, Well this is embarrassing... I don't have any clue what to do about it except to switch to a browser that is working.

I upgraded to FF Ver 20.0 a couple of months ago, and that is when this "Well, this is embarrassing" nonsense started. I've been using Firefox for many years on my several Mac computers, and it is only with this LAST upgrade that I have been getting this "error" message every time I start Firefox. YES, I have figured out how to avoid this problem by simply making sure that the particular window I want to START with is on the screen before I click the "Quit Firefox" tab under the "Firefox" word on the top menu. BUT HAVING TO DO THAT EVERY TIME I CLOSE FIREFOX IS NONSENSICAL !! Why do I have to do that now, when I've never had to do that before? It makes no sense. To avoid desktop clutter, I have always closed the open Firefox windows on the screen, but leave Firefox running in the background; then, when I want to get back on the internet an hour later and re-open Firefox (as I have done thousands of times in the past), now I get that nonsensical "Well, this is embarrassing" message again. It is extremely irritating, and totally unnecessary.
MOZILLA/FIREFOX Team ---- whatever you did, you must FIX this irritating problem which so MANY of us faithful Firefox users are now facing.

I want to create dependent select lists. Have tried following the procedure as in help:
You can have one LOV drive another LOV by:

New user (moron) - damaged Solaris OS

A 'friend of mine' who is knew to unix was logged in as 'root'. (I think you know something sad is about to happen)
He tried to use patchadd to manually add a patch.
Somehow* the folder /var/sadm was 'cleansed' of all files and sub-folders.
OK, OK, it was me!
I was preparing for a full reinstallation when I received an email from someone saying that I might be able to a re-install that will keep all my user and system settings. That person is no longer available to help me.
I've tried to locate some help on the Sun site but am a bit overwhelmed by all the information.
If someone can help or direct me to the appropriate information, I promise to:
1. Engage my brain at all times
2. Think extremely carefully before logging in as or doing anything as 'root'.

Apple has made several well-publicised statements regarding their commitment to privacy and the security of their various iCloud services. If they were to fall short of a goal they stated so prominently for so long, it would have a material effect on the company's value, not to mention being extremely embarrassing. I think they're pretty serious about it.
Like anything else though, iCloud is as secure as the passwords you use. To change your iCloud password read iCloud: Change your iCloud account password.

Choose User Profile

Iv been using FF on my lappy for years, now suddenly, when I try to start FF it asks me to select a user profile between the following options: -
- default
- default-<number>
This has annoyed me to no end, its bad enough that FF does update checks and installs on startup, but now this????
Has it occurred to FF developers that when users pop open a browser we need it to snap open, we dont always have ridiculous amounts of time to wait for it to start. What if Im checking the bus timetable - Id miss the bus. Or the times Iv been in conference and needed a quick webpage - embarrassed! So many times Iv need FF and she couldnt be there for me in time. If I wanted a massive delay and/or additional tasks between clicking open and it opening then Id of course look for some ridiculous adobe product instead.
Anyways as much as I love and adore FF I have sadly closed her because of this, and will use Chrome instead. Ill check every now and then to see if the Choose User Profile error has gone away.

My suggestions: Initially let's keep it simple instead of editing profiles.ini directly use the profile manager dialogue that is appearing.
* Please confirm Firefox actually works ok ? (Other than offering you a choice, and a slow startup.) You are able to progress past the profile choice and use Firefox as a browser ?
* Have you identified differences between, and tried Firefox with both of the profiles ?
* You need to decide which profile you need to keep. Unless they are very close copies/clones they will differ in for instance the bookmarks & login details they provide. (Will include; potentially years of; History also)
* From the profile manager dialogue you should be able to choose which profile to use AND then choose not to ask in future.
That is the simplest and safest way of dealing with this problem. If that method does not work something is going wrong. As mentioned by ''cor-el'' possibly security related software is aggressively ''protecting'' against settings changes.

The link to download the KT400 pcr file is dead . Follow it through to the very end and you'll see the kt400 pcr file errors outs. Please fix or remove the link in the FAQ.
If you do fix the above link maybe think of including a link to the wpcrset program as hoda not longer supports it and has removed the link from his site.

There is nothing to fix as nothing wrong with those links. KT400 PCR is still downloadable.
Read the FAQ carefully I only put link to WPCREDIT and NOT WPCRSET. Furthermore the author H.oda has no longer support it. The link for this unsupported tool is left for the adventurous users to find out. :D

Blocked users keep appearing in my contact list .....

I have blocked and deleted 2 users from my contact list , one of those keeps appearing in my contact list , no matter how many times I remove the name it keeps re-appearing ..
Why can't I permanently delete this person I even reported them but its no use they keep coming back .. Can't something be done about this ?? \I imagine from other posts I have read this happens to others as well ,.. HELPPPPP me get rid of them once and for all .. I shouldn't have to create a new profile just because of this

I have the same problem. A complete stranger trid to contact me with an indecent picture, I immediately blocked him, embarrassed that picture is on my computer.
