Embed Screen of a remote machine

Hi,
I would like to embed the display of a remote machine in the front panel of my application. I thought the best way (at least one way) of doing this is embedding a Remote Desktop Session in the VI. Can this be done using ActiveX? If anyone can share an example or some advise is appreciated.
Thanks

I've never done it before but it looks possible.  Here are a couple pages that might help.

It looks like the ActiveX components are a seperate download that needs to be installed, then you should be able to make an ActiveX control.  There are several shipped examples on ActiveX in LabVIEW, I think they use Excel and Internet Explorer.

  • Screen sharing crashes remote machine with two monitors in 10.7.2

    Hello,
    Whenever i connect to my Mac Pro (running 10.7.2 now), the machine hangs completely if my two monitors are connected.  This happens both over the network using Back to my Mac and Slink, when on a local network from my macbook Pro and a friends older iBook. (both running Lion). It also happens from a VNC client (remoter vnc) from my ipad. If i disconnect my second monitor, it works fine in all cases.  Is anyone else experience a remote machine crash when trying to screen share?
    I can connect to the disks fine. it's just screen sharing
    I recently refromatted my machine and it was working fine before then -- but i imagine the problem stems from 10.7.2 since i both reformatted and upgraded.
    thanks

  • Screen Resolution mismatch. Can I force resolution prefs of remote machine?

    Using Apple Remote Desktop, or Timbuktu, I'm connecting to a remote server that does not have a monitor attached.
    Problem: I only have 2 screen resolutions available on the remote machine: 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768.
    My local screen resolution is 2560 x 1600 (using a 30" Cinema Display).
    Question: Can I change the display preferences of the remote machine to give me the same resolution as my local machine? (2560 x 1600)?

    You are running the server in what's been referred to as 'headless' mode, meaning no monitor. Without a monitor installed the video card will default to one of three VESA compatible resolutions, 640X480, 800X600, or 1024X768; because it does not sense any EDID data on the display port.
    You need one of these:
    http://drbott.com/prod/db.lasso?code=0153-GHDD
    which will allow you to set the display resolution on the remote 'headless' unit using the 'Displays' System Preferences panel. You don't even have to reboot the server to make it work, just attach the device and set the resolution to what you want to the limit of the video card's resolution. Settings will be preserved across reboots as the device present the correct EDID data to the video card even with no monitor attached.

  • Right click in Screen Sharing causes Expose on remote machine

    I have a Mac Pro at home. I have a hot corner for Exposé. I have a mighty mouse at both the host and client machine. In both cases, Exposé from a mouse pinch is disabled.
    When I try and drag a file from one place to another on the remote machine, Exposé is triggered. I also use RemoteTap on my iPhone - when I connect using it, it forces a "spaces exposé" (shows all the spaces on the remote machine) and quits the Dock. I imagine these two may be related. Has anyone else seen this and know what may be causing it?
    I should add that the desktop machine was a migration from my laptop. I have looked everywhere I can think of, but on the remote machine, when I am in front of it, Exposé is not just triggered without a real trigger. With the remote sessions, I have a hard time using the machine without exposé triggering.
    Thanks in advance for help...

    I have the same problem with the dragging a file activating expose. SO ANNOYING!!!! It makes screen sharing (one of the main reasons I pay for MobileMe) absolutely useless. It can be solved, however, by disabling all hot corners. While that's a semi easy workaround, its incredibly annoying to have to do that each time I want to remotely log in. I really hope they fix it soon or they lost a MobileMe customer. I will just use a free VNC program at that point.

  • Problem in sending buffered image to remote machine

    iam able to capture ithe desktop screen as a buffered image by using buffered image class in java.awt.image.but iam bot able to send that buffered image to remote machine.it is only possible to send some part of that buffered image.but iam not able to transmit the whole buffere image of my desktop.can u help.

    Hi,
    For this topic you should have a look ( 2004-07-08 The Java Specialists' Newsletter [Issue 091] )
    from Dr. Heinz Kabutz. Indeed, the newsletter is quite useful and sometimes also amazing.
    I really enjoy reading it.
    In this newsletter he is exactly doing what you wanted to know.
    He uses an ObjectOutputStream, but compresses the screenshot beforehand as follows:
        import com.sun.image.codec.jpeg.*;
        Toolkit defaultToolkit = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit();
        Rectangle shotArea = new Rectangle(
            defaultToolkit.getScreenSize());
        ByteArrayOutputStream bout = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
        JPEGImageEncoder encoder = JPEGCodec.createJPEGEncoder(bout);
        encoder.encode(robot.createScreenCapture(shotArea));
        return bout.toByteArray();Hope that helps

  • Screen Sharing and Remote Login suddenly stopped working

    I have had Screen Sharing and Remote Login turned on on my iMac for several weeks and they have been working fine up until now. I have been accessing the computer via VNC programs and command-line ssh logins from other computers on the same local network. When I tried to connect today, i was given the following error message.
    ssh: connect to host xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx port 22: No route to host
    I have all of the required settings turned on in System preferences and there are no firewalls or router settings blocking it. I connected the two computers together via ethernet cable and the error message still occurred.
    I can ssh from the machine to 127.0.0.1, so the ssh server is running. I can ssh to other locations from the laptop i am attempting to connect with, so that's not the problem either. I just spent an hour on the phone with the apple tech support line and they couldn't figure anything out either. Can anybody figure something out?

    have you tried the obvious - restarting the computers involved and the router?

  • Screen Sharing and Remote Management

    Is there a way in 10.6 to make both Screen Sharing and Remote Management run at the same time?
    In the past (10.5), you could convince Mac OS to run both Screen Sharing and Remote Management to run simultaneously. I say "convince" because you could not enable them both through System Preferences. You could turn one on, then use Terminal to enable the other. This worked great for me, because I needed remote management for the machines I managed, and the users need screen sharing to work from home.
    However, the work-around for 10.5 no longer seems to work for 10.6. Has any one gotten this to work yet for 10.6? Thanks!

    I figured this out. First enable Remote Management via System Preferences. Then create /private/etc/ScreenSharing.launchd with 'enabled' as it's contents.

  • Screen resolution for remote client

    I have used Windows remote desktop and it has the fuction of setting the display resolution of the target machine when you login. So if i am on using a small laptop with small screen resolution (1024 x 768) and connect to a remote machine with a high resolution i can set the remote machine to display at 1024x768 nativly (no stretching or scalling).
    DOES APPLE REMOTE DESKTOP HAVE THIS FUNCTIONALITY?

    Ok so the solution was to user a different VNC client in Ubuntu. "Vinagre" allows you to view your remote session scaled to any size you like. It will however retain the dimentions of your MacBook screen.
    One thing to be aware of is that when authentication your VNC session (entering your username and password) Vinagre only allows you to enter a password of 8 characters max. So if your password is longer then 8 characters you will have to shorten it to user Vinagre... A bit annoying but at least it works.
    Techy notes:
    It is actially the VNC server Vino that Vinagre uses that is enforcing the password length limit. So if using an alternative client that uses Vino as it's VNC server this limit will apply for that client also.
    Even though you are scaling the client session down VNC sends the host's full resolution so you will still transfer a lot of data over the network.

  • Can I automate 'Capture screen' on a remote Mac in Apple Remote Desktop?

    Subject says it all really, I need to find a way to automate screen capture on an an ARD managed Mac.
    Is it possible to automate 'Capture screen' on a remote Mac in ARD 3.3.2?
    Cheers
    Phil

    You can cron or otherwise automate the following command:
    screencapture -x silentscreenshot.jpg
    The x switch means the machine will not play the shutter sound.

  • How to run Labview exectuable on remote machine?

    I am trying to use VI Server to launch a built Labview application (.exe) residing on a remote PC from a CRIO.  I need to run this .exe programmatically and I would like to do this with only the LV Run-Time Engine installed on the remote PC (Windows XP).  I am currently able to do this successfully, but only if I have the LV Development Enviroment splash screen is open on teh remote PC.  I assume this has somehting to do with the LV VI Server not running when the LV DE is closed.
    I have also tried to build a dummy LV application that runs on the remote machine indefinitely (infinite while loop) hoping this would initiate the VI Server but it doesn't seem to work either, I get Error 63.
    Anyone done this before?
    Thanks
    Dan

    Thanks, I've seen this one already.  I will be using a CRIO as my host so I believe ActiveX cannot be used to launch Labview on the remote PC.
    I have been troubleshooting this issue bu using a PC (Win XP) for my host and client.  I have managed to get a Labview application to run as a Windows service on my remote PC and this application runs an inifinte while loop.  But even with this application running I receive Error 66 while trying to open an application reference to a VI on the client PC form the host PC.  Everyhting works fine if I have the LV splash screen open on the remote machine though.

  • FCS Locks up on remote machines....

    I just wanted to check and see if anyone else had the issue of Final Cut Server locking up on remote machines? It launches....searches for about 7 seconds and then...locks up. Its just started a few months ago and it is driving me crazy. Is it just me?

    Hi there,
    I had a similar issue. First my FCSrv client didn`t list assets and a spinning wheel that kept spinning.
    Then after some trial it stopped even from entering in the WorkPlace. It hang on the splash screen:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1875158
    I`ve asked here but unfortunately no one answered.
    To "solve" this I had to re-install (a fresh) FCSrv.
    Before you try that:
    I really don`t remember but there`s a script inside /Library/Application\ Support/Final\ Cut\ Server/Final\ Cut\ Server.bundle with the name "dump" or "clean" that I had solved other issues.
    I think that you could try to look at this before re-installing.
    Good Luck!

  • How can I run aqua applications on remote machine

    Hi, I would like to know how to run an aqua application on a remote mac, but display the result on the local machine. I can easily do that for X applications under Unix through ssh, but I don't know what is the equivalent for aqua. Since the remote machine is much faster than my local one, I don't want to just mont the remote disk, since in this way I'll be running on my slow local resources.
    Thanks

    To the best of my knowledge, Screen Sharing is your only option.
    Screen Sharing is Apple's dressed up VNC.  When going Mac to Mac it is rather good.  When mixing 3rd party VNC clients or servers with Apple's Screen Sharing components, you performance may vary.

  • Black/blank Screen when connected remotely

    Zenworks 10.3.3
    I've only come across one other post on this forum concerning this issue. Sometimes when we're remotely connecting to an XP workstation all that appears is a black/blank screen. The management and remote machines are MS Win XP Pro SP3, pretty well up to date with security patches and all. On the remote computer, the screen saver at logon is disabled, desktop screen saver is disabled, the NIC is allowed to bring the device out of standby, standby is enabled and hibernation is disabled. If you send it the reboot command, more often then not, you can catch it back at the login screen and go about your business.
    Might Zen 11sp1 fix this?

    Is anyone at the Device to see what state it is in when this happens?

  • Remote machine available in list but wont connect

    Im using ARD 3.3.2. I've opened and forwarded ports 5900/3283. My machine appears as available in the list but it will not connect to control or observe.
    Any ideas mates?
    Ta, Edwin.

    Same issue here, just posted the same problem to this forum. Remote machine shows up in the list as available, I'm able to copy files via ARD but as soon as I try to control, it times out. When the Network people open ALL ports it works fine. They seem to think that ARD is selecting a random port for screen control and if you don't have that range of ports open --- no go ---. Bottom line we can't have a range of ports open.
    I even connected wheil on site to our local network and checked the Fios router settings and 5900 and 3283 are open. ARD works fine for us.

  • Using remote machines for report generation

    Since LabView does not have cross-platform openoffice support, I was looking at ways of generating reports from a LabView session (2010) running on a mac. The report generation VI contains a somewhat suggestive machine name input. Can one connect to a remote machine (which is windows XP and has microsoft word / excel installed) to generate reports from a mac running LabView ?

    With some work I think is is do-able.
    If the PC had an exe deployed and running that was served via VI Server the report could be run and generated on the PC when invoked from the Mac.
    So in theory yes!
    Edit:
    VI server is not required if the exe on the PC listens at a TCP/IP port and supports a protocol to accept the report "job".
    I'll watch to see (and in hopes of) a better solution form others.
