Emctl status agent - empry result

Hi,
I renamed hostname on AIX server.
i followed the following steps for configuring the agent after hostname change.
1) stop agent and remove the following files
rm -rf $AGENT_HOME/sysman/log/*
rm -rf $AGENT_HOME/sysman/emd/state/*
rm -rf $AGENT_HOME/sysman/emd/collection/*
rm -rf $AGENT_HOME/sysman/emd/upload/*
rm -f $AGENT_HOME/sysman/emd/lastupld.xml
rm -f $AGENT_HOME/sysman/emd/agntstmp.txt
rm -f $AGENT_HOME/sysman/emd/blackouts.xml
rm -f $AGENT_HOME/sysman/emd/protocol.ini
2) Open file, $AGENT_HOME/sysman/config/emd.properties
3) Modify parameter
EMD_URL=http://<new_hostname>:%EM_SERVLET_PORT%/emd/main/
Ensure hostname entry references new hostname; %EM_SERVLET_PORT%
usually defaults to 3872
4) export ORACLE_HOSTNAME=<new_hostname>
/u01/app/oracle/product/agent10g/bin/agentca -f
5) Re-discover targets - $AGENT_HOME/bin/agentca -d
6) Check targets registered - $AGENT_HOME/bin/emctl config agent listtargets
7) Check status of agent - $AGENT_HOME/bin/emctl status agent
8) Start agent, if necessary - $AGENT_HOME/bin/emctl start agent
9) Execute $AGENT_HOME/bin/emctl reload
10) $AGENT_HOME/bin/emctl upload
but after all these steps when i run the following, this is what i get
emctl status agentOracle Enterprise Manager 10g Release 5 Grid Control 10.2.0.5.0.

When I run - emctl resetTZ agent
...Agent is running. Stop the agent and rerun the command.
When I run - emctl stop agent
... Agent is not running.
When I run - emctl status agent
... Agent is Not Running
The agent is not running but "emctl resetTZ agent" thinks the agent is.
How do I fix this issue?
I'm using Oracle 10.2.0.4 on AIX 6.1

EM 10g Database Control - Status: Agent Unreachable

Hi,
OS: AIX 5L
Database: Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.1.0.2.0 - 64bit
We have installed 2 instances with EM 10g database control option.
At the end EM was running over the second database.
Then we switch it to look over the first one by reconfiguring these files:
$ORACLE_HOME/sysman/config/emd.properties;
$ORACLE_HOME/sysman/config/pref/dbastudio-oradba.crd.
Now EM seems to work fine except for this error: Agent Unreachable.

Can you start a browser on the client machine?
(netscape/mozilla) and try to load
http://aix09:1830/emd/main
Make sure both the client and the OMS server can resolve aix09 hostname
Make sure the client can resolve the OMS server name.

I installed another agent on other server and don't have any problems.
There are no any iptables etc.
I googled for problem, found some tips regarding "secure agent" , but it didn't help
Looking through logs ( emagent.nohup, emctl.log, gcagent.log) can't see anythin suspicious.
Where i could dig problems source? any other logs except those shown above?

Question about EMCTL status dbconsole

Good morning,
I am using Windows XP SP2 and 11gR1. I have an installation with 2 homes, db_1 is home to DBCASID and OCP11GSID, db_2 is home to ORCLSID. All are the same Oracle version, namely, 11gR1.
I have set the EM services to start manually. I initially started the service for ORCLSID then stopped it and, started the service for DBCASID which started uneventfully. The services were started and stopped using EMCTL by setting the ORACLE_SID to the proper values, in addition, since those instances are in different homes, I switched the PATH as necessary to point to their respective homes.
When I issue the commands:

Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g is not running.It reports the service as not running. Windows shows the service is running and in addition to that I have successfully started EM for the instance and used it to browse the state of various elements that make up the database.
As I type this, the address in IE that I am currently looking at is:
https://orahostb.john.local:5500/em/console/database/storage/tablespace?target=dbca&type=oracle_database&pageName=/database/storage/tablespace/showSegments&cancelURL=/em/console/database/storage/tablespace%3Foname%3DEXAMPLE%26event%3Dview%26otype%3DTABLESPACE%26target%3Ddbca%26type%3Doracle_database&oname=EXAMPLE&otype=TABLESPACE&processId2=1284272607223which proves the service is running and fully functional.
The question is: Why is emctl reporting the service as not running when it is most definitely running ? Any ideas ?

Dear 440bx - 11gR2,
I had the same problem and the enterprise manager is running. The agent is not running on your situation but the enterprise manager itself is running.
When you type emctl start dbconsole it keeps printing dots (.) and saying the dbconsole can not be started. Actually the dbconsole is started but the agent is not.
Please type;
emctl status dbconsoleHere is my output (enterprise manager is running);

Emctl status dbconsole

hi
i have a problem that i m not able to start dbconsole process. when i type
emctl status dbconsole
it is diving me the message
oracle enter prise manager is not running
logs are generated in directory 'c:\app\hpuser\..............\sysman\log
I did try to check that log but i m not able to solve this.
i have installed 11g on my window vista os

"Not running" means what to you?

the listener is in fact just LISTENER_DEV-OEL10-RAC1. In grid control (11.1) that listener appears to be down on that node. Although it is in fact up and running.
Is this normal output of the listtargets (doubt)? Or should I correct this (and fix the way it appears in the grid control)?
Can someone guide me to how to fix it?

Just a follow-up in case anyone will need the fix.
Reconfigured (in grid) control the listener target using the alias name "LISTENER" instead of LISTENER_DEV-OEL10-RAC1. The warning cleared and the status shows "up".
Running
#ps -ef | grep lsnr | grep -v 'grep' | grep -v 'ocfs' | awk '{print $9}'
will return the alias name that can be used to grid control target configuration.

OWB 10gR2 map returning status = Complete and Result = Null in Process Flow

Hi,
I have an OWB process flow which invokes an OWB map. There are 2 outgoing transitions attached to the OWB map. 1st transition is a conditinal one (on SUCCESS) and the 2nd one is unconditional transition.
I am monitoring the status of process flow execution in Oracle Workflow monitor. After the process flow is initiated, sometimes the OWB map within shows status = complete and result = OK in workflow monitor (in tab - status). But sometimes it shows status = Complete and Result = Null. In this situation the execution is following the unconditional transition path.
Can anyone tell me what causes the OWB map to return a Result = NULL? Also sometimes I am getting the map returning a Result = Force (with the same status = Complete).
The configuration that I am working with is as below ---
OWB client version : 10.2.0.1.31
OWB repository version : 10.2.0.1.0
Oracle Workflow Version : 2.6.4.0.0
Database version : 10g Enterprise edition release 10.2.0.1.0

1. You need to install Oracle HTTP server in a separate Oracle home.
2.Look for the dads.conf file in the installation. Edit the file, copy the sample code and paste it below and edit the pasted part as under ----

Status: Agent Unreachable

Hi,
I have installed 10g. I could access the EM very easily, once all the required services were started. it was http://host:5500/em
Then I installed another database, other than the default which was orcl.
Then the port number changed (I do not know why, but when I looked in portlist.ini) just to try different ports, I figured out, it was not
http://host:5502/em
when I hit it, it prompts for userid and password. I was so happy looking at this screen, but once I enter the userid and password, what is get is
Status: Agent Unreachable with Startup/Shutdown option. When I click on it, I get error "500 Internal Server Error" in my browser.

If you have done two different Oracle Installations that will use different Standalone DB Console and two different Agents, your system may have had a problem starting the two agents.
If you are using Windows, have a look at Services to see the Agents which has the name of the new ORACLE_HOME as part of the name. Start the Agent. If you have a problem starting thet new one, stop the first one you installed, then start the new one.

Status Agent Not Reachable - How to set a fix port number?

My EM 10g was working fine http://localhost:5500/em
Now when I tried, it was not working. I looked into portlist and found out it there was additional port of 5502
But when I logged into port 5502, Status Agent Not Reachable. Other links were working fine.
I had even installed another DB called REPOS other than the default ORCL.
All the services were up and running and I was just bouncing services back and forth and luckly I got the original port 5500 to work and then I did not got the error "Status Agent Not Reachable".
So I just wanted to know how to set a dedicated port in case the port number changes back to 5502 and if I get the error again.

Yes I installed multipe databases for eg ORCL was the default but I installed REPOS.
I did not uninstall the db.
Why does it show two different ports for ORCL 5500 and 5502 and for Repos it shows two ports but they are the same 5501.
Everything is on my local machine.

OWB 10gR2 Process Flow returning status = Complete and Result = Null

Hi,
I have a process flows i ran lot of times with success (it shows status = complete and result = OK). It invokes a lot of mappings and other flows
Sometimes one of invoked mapping or flows shows status = complete and result = Null and main process too.
The main process i invoked by a PLSQL store procedure using wb_rt_api_exec package. When status = Null the store procedure hangs and I have to kill it.
When it happens, owb service restart (new record in WB_RT_SERVICE_JOB_LOGS).
Can anyone help me?

Sometimes transitions in process flows get scrambled and you have to fix them by hand.....this happens and I dont know why.
Basically what happens is: every operator in process flow has three outgoing transitions (in general) marked as 0, 1 and 2, when you take a look at details property of your operator then in the outgoing transitions tab you should have ORDER collumn 0, 1, 2 for warning, error and success.
If this is not the case (0,1,2) process will not know what to return as value, and what is more bizzare this works until it does not :)
I dont know if this is your case but it's worth checking.

Doubt about emctl resetTZ agent

I just have run this command:
emctl resetTZ agentI had to run it because a customer changed the computer's time zone (windows server 2008 R2 64bits) where weblogic 10.3.4 and forms 11.1.1.4 are installed and is unable to start the EMAGENT process. After i run the command i got this message:

Login as the em repository user and run the script:
exec mgmt_target.set_agent_tzrgn('forms11gR2:5155','America/Bogota')
and commit the changes
This can be done for example by logging into sqlplus and doing
SQL> exec mgmt_target.set_agent_tzrgn('forms11gR2:5155','America/Bogota')
SQL> commit
C:\u01\app\oracle\product\Middleware\11.1.1.4\asinst_1\EMAGENT\emagent_asinst_1\bin>I'm a little confused, should i execute the above script ?? i mean i do not have a em repository user.
Also now i am able to start the EMAGENT process without run the above script :)

if you dont have an em repository use then don't run it
else execute the script
end if
there is no need to run the script at the user level as it is once set will remain for all the users.
you can run the sql> script for the same at any level.

Emctl status dbconsole does not reflect correct status of dbcontrol

Emctl status dbconsole command shows that the Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g is not running. But in fact that I can access the Enterprise Manager and it is running.It seems that the emctl status dbconsole command show incorrect status about the dbconsole.
Why and how to solve this problem?

It might work if you had an operating system. However, you do not have one.
Or at least you are very reluctant to tell us which one you use.
And troubleshooting techniques differ based on OS.

Emctl status

Hi all,
I'm a newb to Oracle 11. Just recently upgraded from Oracle 9 to 11. Before with 9i, I used to run the Java standalone tool dba studio to administer my database. With the new 11g database, I have successfully been using the web-based OEM Database Control. I access that page at https://server.mycompany.com:1158/em.
The only issue I have is when I run - $ORACLE_HOME/bin/emctl status dbconsole - I get the following message:
[oracle@myserver bin]$ ./emctl status dbconsole
OC4J Configuration issue. /u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/oc4j/j2ee/OC4J_DBConsole_myserver.mycompany.com_MYDB not found.
Any ideas?

OK looks like I was able to fix with a couple of properly placed symlinks:
1. In $ORACLE_HOME/oc4j/j2ee:
ls -ltr
lrwxrwxrwx 1 oracle oinstall 29 Dec 22 10:52 OC4J_DBConsole_myserver.mycompany.com_MYDB -> OC4J_DBConsole_myserver_MYDB
and
2. In $ORACLE_HOME:
lrwxrwxrwx 1 oracle oinstall 14 Dec 22 10:55 myserver.mycompany.com_MYDB -> myserver_MYDB
Now:
[oracle@myserver 11.1.0]$ emctl status dbconsole
Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g Database Control Release 11.1.0.6.0
Copyright (c) 1996, 2007 Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved.
https://myserver:1158/em/console/aboutApplication
Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g is running.

I'm just not sure how it was working in the first place????
