OWB 10gR2 map returning status = Complete and Result = Null in Process Flow

Hi,
I have an OWB process flow which invokes an OWB map. There are 2 outgoing transitions attached to the OWB map. 1st transition is a conditinal one (on SUCCESS) and the 2nd one is unconditional transition.
I am monitoring the status of process flow execution in Oracle Workflow monitor. After the process flow is initiated, sometimes the OWB map within shows status = complete and result = OK in workflow monitor (in tab - status). But sometimes it shows status = Complete and Result = Null. In this situation the execution is following the unconditional transition path.
Can anyone tell me what causes the OWB map to return a Result = NULL? Also sometimes I am getting the map returning a Result = Force (with the same status = Complete).
The configuration that I am working with is as below ---
OWB client version : 10.2.0.1.31
OWB repository version : 10.2.0.1.0
Oracle Workflow Version : 2.6.4.0.0
Database version : 10g Enterprise edition release 10.2.0.1.0

Hi Manohar,
1. You need to install Oracle HTTP server in a separate Oracle home.
2.Look for the dads.conf file in the installation. Edit the file, copy the sample code and paste it below and edit the pasted part as under ----
<Location /pls/<SID>>
SetHandler pls_handler
Order deny,allow
Allow from all
AllowOverride None
PlsqlDatabaseConnectString <server name>:<port>:<SID >
PlsqlAuthenticationMode Basic
PlsqlDefaultPage wfa_html.home
PlsqlNLSLanguage "AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1"
</Location>
3. STOP and START OPMN (Oracle Process Manager & Notification Server)
4. Use the URL in your internet browser like --- <HTTP server URL>/pls/<SID>/wfa_html.home
5. When prompted for user id and password, give the schema user id and password where the workflow engine is installed.
Hope this helps,
Swagata

  • OWB 10gR2 Process Flow returning status = Complete and Result = Null

    Hi,
I have a process flows i ran lot of times with success (it shows status = complete and result = OK). It invokes a lot of mappings and other flows
Sometimes one of invoked mapping or flows shows status = complete and result = Null and main process too.
The main process i invoked by a PLSQL store procedure using wb_rt_api_exec package. When status = Null the store procedure hangs and I have to kill it.
When it happens, owb service restart (new record in WB_RT_SERVICE_JOB_LOGS).
    Can anyone help me?
The configuration that I am working with is as below ---
    OWB client version : 10.2.0.1.31
    OWB repository version : 10.2.0.1.31
    Oracle Workflow Version : 2.6.4.0.0
Database version : 10g Enterprise edition release 10.2.0.3.0

Sometimes transitions in process flows get scrambled and you have to fix them by hand.....this happens and I dont know why.
Basically what happens is: every operator in process flow has three outgoing transitions (in general) marked as 0, 1 and 2, when you take a look at details property of your operator then in the outgoing transitions tab you should have ORDER collumn 0, 1, 2 for warning, error and success.
If this is not the case (0,1,2) process will not know what to return as value, and what is more bizzare this works until it does not :)
I dont know if this is your case but it's worth checking.

  • OWB 10gR2 : How to configure ctl and log locations for Sql*Loader mappings?

    Hi all,
I'm using OWB 10gR2 to load data in tables with Sql*Loader mappings.
In my project I have a datafile module and an Oracle module.
When creating an sql*loader mapping in the oracle module, there is two properties for this mappings that I want to modify. The first is Control File Location and the second is Log File Location. Values for those properties are equal to the data file module location. When trying to change those values I can only chose "Use module configuration location".
Somebody knows how to configure those properties with different locations as the one of the flat file module?
What I want to do is to store the data file in one directory, and control file and log file in other directories.
    Thank you for your help.
    Bernard

    Hi,
You're right, my problem is that the dropdown only show the location associated with the flat file location even if I have other file locations created in the design repository.
The good news is that I have found the solution to solve the problem :
    1) Edit the file module and in tab "Data locations", add the locations you want to use for control file and log file.
    2) Open configuration window of the mapping and then the dropdown for properties Control File Location and Log File Location show new locations
I have tested my mapping after changing those properties and it's working.

  • Interaction Record : How to make it non editable based on user status = Complete and on click of  Save

    Hi Guys
We have a requirement ,where we need to make the interaction record "not editable " when we set the user status to "Complete" and after "Save" button is pressed.
Please note that we can't make use of status profile settings as we have to enter some information after the status is complete , that means
after user selects status "Complete" he has to select the value from another drop down and then Save.
Standard offers such that once the Complete is chosen in dropdown the whole screen is frozen.
Once he saves it , the document should be locked(read only/non editable)
    Any pointers ?
We tried "Set_view_Group_Context" and Order_Save BADI and we are not preferring disabling at attribute level as we might add few more attributes later.
    Regards
    Vinayak

    Hello,
    We had a similar requirement.
The best way we found was to implement the enhancement spot in the beginning of method LOCK_ORDERS of class CL_CRM_METHODS_BTIL. Here, you can prevent the user from editing a business transaction. Be aware this method is called for any BT, so you need to adjust your custom development accordingly.
    Hope this helps.

  • Mapping runs through Deployment Manager but hangs in Process Flow

    Hi,
I have a Mapping bound in a simple Process Flow.
The mapping deploys through Deployment Manager and runs. It currently processes no rows and takes a couple of seconds to do that. It completes with a Success message.
However, when I wrap it into a simple Process Flow...
    --- w ---> END_WARNING
    START ---> MY_MAPPING ---- s ---> END_SUCCESS
    --- e ---> END_ERROR
.., deploy this and run it through the Deployment Manager, it hangs. I get the 'Execution in progress...' window with the moving graphic forever.
The Runtime Repository Browser Execution Report tells me that it is 'Busy', and if I drill down to the Process Flow Run Execution Report, I see an identical Start and End Time, an Elapsed Time of 0 seconds, and no other details (Execution Parameters, Activity Details or Error Messages).
Looking under 'Find Processes' on the Workflow Home Page, my workflow has no status in the Process List. Drilling down to the Diagram, I have a green line from the 'Start' element to my Mapping but the Mapping itself has no special colour.
I go back to the Deployment Manager and cancel the job - which it does and reports that it 'Completed with errors'.
The Runtime Repository Browser Execution Report now tells me that it is 'Busy' (with an information bubble), and if I drill down to the Process Flow Run Execution Report, I see different Start and End Times, and Elapsed Time of n seconds, a single Error Message 'RPE-01002: The operation was aborted at user request.', and no other details (Execution Parameters, Activity Details).
Looking under 'Find Processes' on the Workflow Home Page, my workflow has a status of 'Complete' in the Process LIst. Drilling down to the Diagram, I still have a green line from the 'Start' element to my Mapping and the Mapping itself still has no colour and no indication that it has stopped.
    I'm running:
    Oracle9i EE 9.2.0.5.0
    Oracle10g OWB Client 10.2.0.1.0
    Oracle10g OWB Repository 10.1.0.1.0
Anybody know how I can go about tracking down why this Process Flow is hanging - and, of course, getting it unhung :-)
    Regards
    Steve

    Hello Steve,
It's a little difficult to read the exact flow from your ASCII graphics.
However, from your description it seems your workflow task only has an outgoing success connector, and your execution was not a success. This will stop the execution of that branch of your process flow, since there are no valid routes to take. If you only have a single branch in your workflow, the process flow is stuck.
To expedite your hung process you just click on the task icon in the Workflow Monitor graph window that does not have a green outgoing connector, press the Expedite button and select skip.
Corollary: If you use conditional connectors, always use all 3 from a task. I not using all 3, have a very good understanding of why you don't.

  • Export and Import of mappings/process flows etc

    Hi,
We have a single repository with multiple projects for DEV/UAT and PROD of the same logical project. This is a nightmare for controlling releases to PROD and in fact we have a corrupt repository as a result I suspect. I plan to split the repository into 3 separate databases so that we have a design repos for DEV/UAT and PROD. Controlling code migrations between these I plan to use the metadata export and subsequent import into UAT and then PROD once tested. I have used this successfully before on a project but am worried about inherent bugs with metadata export/imports (been bitten before with Oracle Portal). So can anyone advise what pitfalls there may be with this approach, and in particular if anyone has experienced loss of metadata between export and import. We have a complex warehouse with hundreds of mappings, process flows, sqlldr flatfile loads etc. I have experienced process flow imports that seem to lose their links to the mappings they encapsulate.
    Thanks for any comments,
    Brandon

This should do the trick for you as it looks for "PARALLEL" therefore it only removes the APPEND PARALLEL Hint and leaves other Hints as is....

  • OWB 10.1 -- How to make a JOB agains a process flow.

    Dear All
I have created mapping and make a process flow. Deploy and generation done successfully.
If i execute my process flow it whole bring data from source table to detination warehouse schema table.
I want this process automate and run it daily at a given time. I do not get any control centre or other utility from OWB wheren I can make a job or schedule to achieve this goal. My OWB version is 10.1.
    Regards
    Sayeed

Follow the below step to schedule mapping
    1.Define the Scheduler
    2. Right Click on Schedule tab -> New and define the module say Sche_mod
    3.Right Clicvk on Sche_mod ->New
Filll all the details like when to run ther schedule say every sunday
2.Right click the mapping or process flow which ever to schedule
under Configure > Refered Calendar select the schedular name.
    3 Deloy the mapping .
4.Deploy the Sechdular then run the scheduler.
then every sunday the mapping/process flow will be executed.

  • OWB Error: Connection lost when assign a schedule to a process flow

    I have:
    - OWB 11Gr2
    - Oracle DB 10Gr2 Source/Target
I have created a schedule module and set the location to be one of the target DB locations.
Create a one of schedule and scheduled for daily execution.
Open configuration of a process flow and assign with the schedule.
After this, i tried to save the repository, and occurred the error message:
"Repository Connection Error: The connection to the repository was lost, because of the following database error: Closed Connection
    Exit OWB without committing."
The connection with the repository was lost and i can´t do more anything.
I tried to create a separate location for the schedule, but it don´t make difference
    What´s happening?

  • Mapping is not run after adding to existing Process Flow

    I am about to scream.
I have a process flow that has been running fine.
I added a mapping to the existing process flow, deployed the process flow, and now when I run the process flow it will not run the new added mapping.
What gives? I am going to recreate the process flow, but I will not recreate a new process flow everytime I add a mapping to it.
    What am I doing wrong.
    thanks for any help.
    greG

    Oleg,
Thanks so much for all the help. I read the other posts and checked my mapping but nothing helped.
I had to put a transition line directly from the fork to my new process and it worked.
I think it was kind of a logic error on my part.
I forgot had all my maps that were called from the Fork just going straight to either Error Warning or Success endpoints.
I tried to add another process after one of the mappings.
I forgot that to do that I would have to "OR" up all the transitions coming from the forked maps.
    Then proceed from there.

  • EMail and SQLPLUS activity in process flow

    Hi Guys,
I am struggling to get the email activity working. I entered all the details but no email is sent?
Secondly, I had an easy sql plus script that I pasted into the script property box
But the sqlplus just does not execute?
    truncate table xxx;
    quit
    Any ideas?

Make sure there are no spaces after you have replaced DISABLED with NATIVE_JAVA.
Any space after the NATIVE_JAVA will not work.
Can you give details like what are you using Script or Parameter list etc ?
Did you configure the deployed location for the SQLPLus parameter ??
    Regarding Your EMAIL -
Is your process flow showing any error regarding email ??
Create a simple process flow with email activity only.
    Set FROM_EMAIL , TO_EMAIL , SUBJECT ,MESSAGE_BODY, SMTP_SERVER , PORT
SMTP_SERVER and PORT values are very important.
Check connection to SMTP_SERVER by running the following command on dos prompt
    telnet smtp_server_name port
If this works this means your smtp server is working. Now just deploy and run your processs flow.
If it still doen't send you email, check whats in the log.
The log should give you any errors regarding email like ORA-06512: at "SYS.UTL_TCP", line 17 ,etc (if any).
    Thanks,
    Sam.

  • Restart logic and looping logic in process flow

The answer is NO. The curent version does not have restartable functionality. You have to have your own design for this.

  • Return Status Message Query results in PowerShell

    Hi everyone,
I'd like to know if there's a way to run a Status message query from PowerShell and have the results return as an array of objects. In other words, I'd like to be able to view the results from the Status Message Viewer in  PowerShell so I can monitor
the deployment of a task sequence.
Is this at all possible? It's basically a WMI query so I should be able to do someting like this:
    $Site = Get-CMSite
    $SiteCode = $Site.SiteCode
    $SiteServer = $Site.ServerName
    $Namespace = "root\sms\site_$SiteCode"
    $DeviceName = 'SRV-DEV-01'
    $Time = Get-date -UFormat '%Y/%m/%d %T.000'
    $Query = "select stat.*, ins.*, att1.*, stat.Time from SMS_StatusMessage as stat left join SMS_StatMsgInsStrings as ins on stat.RecordID = ins.RecordID left join SMS_StatMsgAttributes as att1 on stat.RecordID = att1.RecordID where stat.MachineName = `"$DeviceName`" and stat.Time >= '$Time' order by stat.Time desc"
    Get-WMIObject -Computername $SiteServer -Class SMS_StatusMessage -Namespace $NameSpace -Filter $Query
This code however throws a 'Generic failure' (not very helpful). Does anyone know if this is the correct approach and how to fix it?
    Thanks in advance,

To get description info use the SMS_StatMsgWithInsStrings instead of SMS_StatusMessage:
    $SiteCode = 'ABC'
    $SiteServer = 'my-site-server'
    $ComputerName = 'my-device-name'
Get-WmiObject -Namespace "root\SMS\site_$($SiteCode)" -Class SMS_StatMsgWithInsStrings -ComputerName $SiteServer -Filter "(Component like 'Task Sequence Engine') AND (MachineName like '$($ComputerName)')"
You will need to parse out your desired properties. I am using InsString3 and 2. It's not perfect but it's at least more informative.

  • Problem Experts OWB 10gR2 - Mapping with OMB - Give a name to the flat file

I'm trying to create a mapping in OWB by using the Experts (OMB),
where the data source is a database table and the target is a flat file (to transform a table to a flat file).
The tasks of my Experts :
This task create a mapping, and add a existing table on it.
         OMBCC '$thepath'
         catch {OMBDROP MAPPING 'M1'}
         OMBCREATE MAPPING 'M1'
         OMBALTER MAPPING 'M1' \
         ADD $INITIAL_LAUNCH_CONTEXT_TYPE OPERATOR '$thetable' \
         BOUND TO $INITIAL_LAUNCH_CONTEXT_TYPE \ '$INITIAL_LAUNCH_CONTEXT' \
This task change the context and create a flat file
         OMBCC '/PRJ_LABO_PHARMA/SRC_FILE'
         catch {OMBDROP FLAT_FILE 'NEW_FILE'}
         OMBCREATE FLAT_FILE 'NEW_FILE' \
         SET PROPERTIES (DATA_FILE_NAME) VALUES('fichier_genere.txt')
This task add the flat file to the mapping, and create a connection between the source (table) and the target (flat file)
         OMBCC '/PRJ_LABO_PHARMA/MOD_SRC_LABO'
         OMBALTER MAPPING 'M1' \
         ADD FLAT_FILE OPERATOR 'NEW_FILE'\
         BOUND TO FLAT_FILE '/PRJ_LABO_PHARMA/SRC_FILE/NEW_FILE' \
         OMBALTER MAPPING 'M1' \
ADD CONNECTION FROM GROUP 'INOUTGRP1' OF OPERATOR '$thetable' \
TO GROUP 'NEW_FILE' OF OPERATOR 'NEW_FILE' COPY ALL
This task update the flat file structure
         OMBRECONCILE MAPPING 'M1' OPERATOR 'NEW_FILE' \
         TO FLAT_FILE '/PRJ_LABO_PHARMA/SRC_FILE/NEW_FILE' \
         USE (RECONCILE_STRATEGY 'REPLACE', MATCHING_STRATEGY 'MATCH_BY_OBJECT_ID')
Then I have a task which execute this mapping.
Everything is good, but during the execution I have a error VLD-2357 : The target file's name is not indicated for the file NEW_FILE.
I don't know how to give a name to the flat file in OMB.
    Help me please.
    Best regards
    Samy

Just like if you built this in the UI where you would have to configure the flat file operator and define a target data file name and possibly the location these properties should be set in scripting.
Set the property TARGET_DATA_FILE_NAME to the name of the data file.
    Something like....
    OMBALTER MAPPING 'M1' \
    MODIFY FLAT_FILE OPERATOR 'NEW_FILE' SET PROPERTIES (TARGET_DATA_FILE_NAME) VALUES ('my_datafile.csv')
    Cheers
    David

  • How can I completely and totally destroy these processes?

Once a minute these two processes (one for Boxee and one for Glims) will run. Both have been uninstalled as completely as I can see how (ran the uninstaller for Glims, nothing in Application Support, all related .plist files), but launchd apparently is still looking for them. I know it doesn't seem like much but this poor G4 sometimes needs all the help it can get so I am trying to eliminate all errant processes...
Here is what the system log is reporting:
    May 21 15:17:56 richard-bensons-powerbook-g4-15 com.apple.launchd[98] (com.machangout.glims.agent[46635]): Exited with exit code: 1
    May 21 15:17:56 richard-bensons-powerbook-g4-15 com.apple.launchd[98] (com.machangout.glims.agent): Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds
    May 21 15:18:03 richard-bensons-powerbook-g4-15 com.apple.launchd[98] (tv.boxee.helper[46636]): posix_spawnp("/Applications/Boxee.app/Contents/Resources/Boxee/bin/boxeeservice ", ...): No such file or directory

    May 21 15:18:03 richard-bensons-powerbook-g4-15 com.apple.launchd[98] (tv.boxee.helper): Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds
Any help would be greatly appreciated! TIA!

    Hi,
    May 21 15:17:56 richard-bensons-powerbook-g4-15 com.apple.launchd98 (com.machangout.glims.agent):
    May 21 15:18:03 richard-bensons-powerbook-g4-15 com.apple.launchd98 (tv.boxee.helper)
Is there a launchd plist that I can delete?
There might be. Remember though, that the .plist extension means the file is a "property list," which refers to the file's format, not it's function. Many .plist files are not "preferences" and are not found in Preferences folders. The files used by launchd to create launch daemons and launch agents are in property list format and so have .plist extensions.
Your log report above suggests the existence of two such files:
    com.machangout.glims.agent.plist
    and
    tv.boxee.helper.plist
After some Googling, it looks as if com.machangout.glims.agent.plist normally gets installed in
    HD>Library>LaunchAgents
and that tv.boxee.helper.plist normally gets installed in
    HD>Users>username>Library>LaunchAgents
So if you haven't already looked in those two places, I would do so. If you find those files, delete them and reboot.

  • Persistence Layer return convention issue and question - null vs. exception

I'm writing a position paper on persistence layer query returns. It deals with querying for a single object or a collection of objects and what to do if the object or collection of objects are not found in the database. I've googled many different search terms and have not come up with any authoritative references for this scenario. Do any of you know of any sources that have discussed this before?
My current logic is that when searching for a single object in a persistence layer that the persistence layer should return a simple null if the object isn't found. If searching for a collection of objects then the PL should return an empty collection object.
    1.
/** Returns a list of objects that match the non-null fields in the provided example object.
This will return an empty Collection if no matching objects are found */
public Collection retrieveByExample(MyBO example);2. /** Returns a business object.  This will return a null if no matching object is found */
public MyBusObject retrieveById(int aMyBusObjectId);These two methods would not return a "checked or unchecked" exception if the object(s) are not found. I think that they are the simplest to implement and do not break the convention of not using exceptions in non exceptional situations. I don't feel that it is the persistence layer's responsibility to make a business decision on an object's existence being an exception. There are many times where applications search for an object to see if it exists or not and then proceed to create the object or use the object if it exists or doesn't. These two methods also don't force using application layers to catch or throw any declared exceptions.
Notes on scenario 1: program control flow is simple by using an iterator and hasNext(), if the collection is empty then any code that needs the objects can be skipped.
Notes on scenario 2: program control flow is simple in this case with a " != null or == null check. If the method returned an uninitialized object instead of null then the calling application would have to have additional business logic to tell whether the object was truly uninitialized or not. I can see the method having a UnexpectedMultipleBusinessObjectsFoundException if more than 1 object is found since the method is looking by primary key, but would this ever happen if searching by primary key. However in a similiar method that searches on non primary key then the UMBOFE would be warrented. Any thoughts?
Others have brought up some additional scenarios.
    3. /** Returns one and only one business object from persistence with a matching primary id.
If one and only one match is not found, null is returned if isLenient is true, otherwise an exception is thrown. */
public MyBusObject retrieveById(int aMyBusObjectId, boolean isLenient) throws BusinessObjectNotFoundException;I feel this option is bad in that it forces the calling or using application layer to still declare the BusinessObjectNotFoundException. It adds bulk and unneeded complexity to the the code.
While looking at it I can see that since a caller is searching for exactly 1 object then if the query finds more than one object then a UnexpectedMultipleBusinessObjectsFoundException could be thrown. But I don't believe an NotFoundException is warranted. What are your thoughts?

Hibernate (for example) actually does both.
public Object get(Class clazz, Serializable id) throws HibernateException - "Return the persistent instance of the given entity class with the given identifier, or null if there is no such persistent instance. (If the instance, or a proxy for the instance, is already associated with the session, return that instance or proxy.)"
public Object load(Class theClass, Serializable id) throws HibernateException: "Return the persistent instance of the given entity class with the given identifier, assuming that the instance exists. You should not use this method to determine if an instance exists (use get() instead). Use this only to retrieve an instance that you assume exists, where non-existence would be an actual error."
Certainly get is the more commonly used of these methods.
If you are returning something like an array I believe it is always preferable to return a zero length array rather than null to save the extra client code.
