Empty soap message

I use abapProxy to invoke an external webservice via SOAP adapter but i get an error "invalid http response: null" in sxmb_moni so i thought that there might be an mistake in request SOAP message and I installed TCPGateway to see logs about sending and coming message.
When i invoke the proxy, sending part of TCPGateway is empty but as you guess , coming part of it shows an error "java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out : connect"
What maybe the reason for that SOAP adapter sends an empty SOAP message?
Thanks

Hi Abhishek;
As i mentioned , i used TCPGateway program on XI server to see going message to external webservice..this gateway program takes request and forwards it but it still comes as empty SOAP message from XI adapter to this TCPGateway program.
as you guess, when you send empty soap message , external webservice doesnt respond to this request so it gets timeout error.
ps: i tried to invoke this webservice via another third-party tool, it works properly.
What would another reason except firewall settings for this issue ? because i do all of these control on XI server, namely before empty soap message goes.
Thanks

• Message Envelope not found. Probably empty soap message. Error while testing web service

Hi Gurus,
I'm new to web service.
I have created an RFC and a web service to create a pdf. When I try to test the web service, I'm getting an error : "Message Envelope not found. Probably empty soap message." I have tried all the links available in google, but i'm unable to resolve the issue.
Can anyone help me to solve this.
Many thanks in advance.

Which version/platform are you using?
The thing you need to consider here is that the JDev proxy settings do not affect the BPEL server.
So if the BPEL server cannot connect to your webservice, it will not be because of any Jdev setting.
Check the proxy settings on your BPEL server (on 10.1.2 developer install it will be in obsetenv.bat, on 10.1.3 it will be a commandline property of the JVM - see AS Control administration page for the JVM)

• SRT 031 Empty SOAP Message received

Hello,
I have an external Web service wich it works under SOAPui, but when I generate a Proxy and a port in SAP using the WSDL file , and then i try to test it I have this error message.
SOAP:1 031 SRT: Empty SOAP message received
How can I solve this problem?
Thanks in Advance.

Hi Jitendra,
We are having similar problems, we're getting the SRT 031 Empty SOAP Message received error but the RFC destination is set up OK.
Running the same webservice from other tools gets a response OK, so the issue must be on the ABAP/SOAManager side of things
Do you have any more ideas of how to troubleshoot this?
Thanks in advance
Tony

• SOAP messages not visible in RWB - Message Monitoring - Adapter Engine

Hi,
following scenario:
ERP is sending IDocs to PI.
Within PI an integration process sends the IDoc data through a SOAP (WS) receiver channel to a system far far away.
In RWB -> Communication Channel Monitoring I can see all delivered messages selecting my SOAP channel.
But:
I can´t see the SOAP messages in RWB -> Message Monitoring -> Messages of Adapter Engine.
In RWB -> Message Monitoring -> Messages of Integration Engine I only see SOAP messages with status "Error".
Successful column is empty.
Do I have to adjust some system / monitoring parameters also seeing SOAP messages in RWB->Message Monitoring?
Thanks in advance,
André

Hi Ravi,
thanks.
But there are thousands of successful messages delivered to the receiver.
These successful messages can only be seen in the Channel Monitoring.
I can´t find these successful messages in Message Monitoring.
Only some with status "Error" are displayed.
Strange...
Cheers,
André

• Posting XML via HTTP post returns "Envelope missing in SOAP message header"

Hi,
I am trying to post a simple XML message directly to the integration server using an html document, where the form that contains the XML message is a simple

So, I add my xml message like this:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8">
<ns:PlantMaintenanceMessageType xmlns:ns="http://sap.com/demo/plantmaintenance">
<EquipmentID>SLIEQUIP5</EquipmentID>
<FunctionalLocation>KB</FunctionalLocation>
<Date/>

</ns:PlantMaintenanceMessageType>
but I get a message back from the Integration Server as:
<SAP:Error xmlns:SAP="http://sap.com/xi/XI/Message/30" xmlns:SOAP="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" SOAP:mustUnderstand="1">
<SAP:Category>XIProtocol</SAP:Category>
<SAP:Code area="PARSER">ITEM_MISSING</SAP:Code>
<SAP:P1>Envelope</SAP:P1>
<SAP:P2 />
<SAP:P3 />
<SAP:P4 />
<SAP:AdditionalText />
<SAP:ApplicationFaultMessage namespace="" />
<SAP:Stack>XML tag Envelope missing in SOAP message header (SAP XI Extension)</SAP:Stack>
</SAP:Error>
Seems like I am missing the Envelope so my Integration Server can understand my post. What does the Envelope look like or should conatain so that the Integration Server accepts my XML file ?
Thanks !

• Non-Blocking SOAP-Message WITHOUT Messaging Provider?

Hi there!
Is there any possibility of sending a non-blocking SOAP-Message WITHOUT using a MessagingProvider?
Im thinking about a Service which doesnt need to give any Feedback!
Thanks alot!
Eric Sommer

I believe that JAXM does not support a non-blocking send without a messaging provider. However, the receiver can simply return an empty message and the sender can ignore the reply:
public SOAPMessage onMessage(SOAPMessage msg) {
// process message
return messageFactory.createMessage();
}In fact, the receiver may be able to return the same message it received. I've tried this and it works but I didn't dig into the JAXM spec to be sure it's legal.

• Printing formatted Soap Message in conole

Hello,
I have written one service and one SOAPMessageHandler, in this class i need to print formatted soap message,but how i dont know
here is my code:
SOAPMessage soapMessage = context.getMessage();
SOAPEnvelope soapEnv = soapMessage.getSOAPPart().getEnvelope();
SOAPHeader soapHeader = soapEnv.getHeader();
if (soapHeader == null) {
System.out.println(" Adding Empty Header [" + this.getClass().getSimpleName() + "]");
soapHeader = soapEnv.addHeader();
QName qIdName =.....
SOAPHeaderElement soapHeaderElem = soapHeader.addHeaderElement(qIdName);
soapHeaderElem.setActor(SOAPConstants.URI_SOAP_ACTOR_NEXT);
soapHeaderElem.addTextNode("some id name");
soapMessage.writeTo(System.out);Can anyone tell me how to do that? is there some parameter set needed (As it is JAXB_FORMATTED_OUTPUT )?

Hi,
Can you try using ByteArrayOutputStream to print soap message
here is the snippet of code
=================
SOAPMessage soapMessage = messageContext.getMessage()
dumpSOAPMessage(soapMessage);
============================
private void dumpSOAPMessage(SOAPMessage msg) {
if (msg == null) {
System.out.println("SOAP Message is null");
return;
System.out.println("");
System.out.println("--------------------");
System.out.println("DUMP OF SOAP MESSAGE");
System.out.println("--------------------");
try {
ByteArrayOutputStream baos = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
msg.writeTo(baos);
System.out.println(baos.toString(getMessageEncoding(msg)));
// show included values
String values = msg.getSOAPBody().getTextContent();
System.out.println("Included values:" + values);
} catch (Exception e) {
e.printStackTrace();
Hope that helps
Regards,
sunil

• How do i get soap message

Hi everyone.
I've generated a web service in netbeans 5.5 with SAAJ.
I've run my web service client. The incoming message (service soap response) is
empty.
The problem is, my soap message (payload) is not appearing in the soap response.
I expect to see....

<soapenv:Envelope xmlns:soapenv="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:ns1="http://mywork">

<telephone>555-12345<telephone>
</ns1:getMessageResponse>
</soapenv:Body>
</soapenv:Envelope>
But i receive the "return" element only, without payload.
<ns1:getMessageResponse>
<return/>
</ns1:getMessageResponse>
My service and client method is listed below.
Service....

I'd suggest you post this in the workshop newsgroup.
I don't believe Workshop supports SOAP w/attachments in the current
release, but you should ask in the workshop group for suggestions.

• [OSB] SOAP Message Body Deleted in Routing Process

Hello Folks,
I'm using Oracle Services Bus 11g and I have the following scenario:
A Business Services that is a client of a WebService. This WebService has an operation that return in its Soap Message a field with special characters (an encripted password).
So, I've created an Proxy Service that route the request message to above business service, but when the message returned by Business service is routing back to Proxy Service the body of the message is deleted.
Checking out the trace of the call, it says "Body was deleted" ! And so the message is returned by Proxy service without body !
I suspected that problem is something about encoding !
Someone could help me resolve this problem ?
Thanks in advanced!

Hi,
I am facing some similar issues with OSB 10gR3 where the Message body gets deleted and i get empty soap body as response when i make continuous calls to a business service without any time delay between the calls.
Though surprisingly i get the correct response from the business service for the first time but only on consecutive calls without any time delay between two calls i get empty soap body. Later if i try to call the business service leaving a gap of 15 sec after my first call, i get the correct response.
I initially thought it might be a problem with the business service itself but when i try to make continuous calls to the Business service without any timedelay directly from SOAPUI , I am getting correct response everytime.
Hence this seems to be a problem only when i invoke the business service via the OSB proxy and thsi deletes the response body wehn i make continuous calls.Not sure whether this is a bug with OSB or encoding issues.
Pls help me to know if this has anything to do with the caching or any setting in OSB server.
Thank you
Preetha

• Incoming soap message not parsed

From a BPEL process I invoke a web service deployed on the oc4j containers of JDev 9.0.4.
The SOAP message looks like this:
<soapenv:Envelope xmlns:soapenv="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
<soapenv:Body>
<ns1:invokeMethod soapenv:encodingStyle="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/"
xmlns:ns1="http://acm.org/samples">
<paramsXML xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
xsi:type="xsd:string">
<Parameters>x<ParameterName></ParameterName><ParameterValue>y</ParameterValue></Parameters>
</paramsXML>
</ns1:invokeMethod>
</soapenv:Body>
</soapenv:Envelope>
The java class that implements the web service (it expects a String argument) gets an empty String instead of the contents of paramsXML above. What is going wrong?

If you want to use raw XML using xsd:string with an RPC-Encoded service developed using a java String as a parameter, you will have to encode your XML on the sender side.
The request should looks like this:

<env:Envelope xmlns:env="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:ns0="http://acm.org/samples">
<env:Body>
<ns0:invokeMethod env:encodingStyle="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/">
<paramsXML xsi:type="xsd:string">
& l t ;Parameters>x& l t ;ParameterName>& l t ;/ParameterName>& l t ;ParameterValue>y& l t ;/ParameterValue>& l t ;/Parameters></paramsXML>
</ns0:invokeMethod>
</env:Body>
</env:Envelope>
note that the '<' are replaced by the '& l t ;' entity in the request {with extra space in the entity to render here}.

• 11g Mediator - force empty soap envelope to be returned

Integration Diagram
Exposed Service -> mediator (with transform and assign) -> Reference Service (Asynchronous one-way)
I have set up an 11g mediator project. The reference service calls an asynchrounous one-way operation. The referenced service has no return value. When called without the SOA Suite it returns HTTP 202 and no content (Content-Lenght = 0). Unfortunately the client which is calling the service exposed from the mediator project requires that when the service call is successful an empty soap envelope should be returned. I have no ability to change the way the caller's code is written.
My question is how can I force an empty soap envelope to be returned to the caller when the reference service has no return content as it is asynchronous one-way?
I have tried adding a reply element based on the SOAP schema. This has added an output element in the wsdl but there is never any content returned. I am open to either using a mediator or BPEL project.
Thanks,
Ryan

Hi,
The SAP Help for NetWeaver PI 7.1 EHP1 related to [Supported Standards |http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi711/helpdata/en/44/624479f7e608fae10000000a422035/frameset.htm]indicates that PI 7.1 supports the WS-I Basic Profile 1.1.
The WS-I Basic Profile 1.1 - [Section 4.7.9 One-Way Operations|http://www.ws-i.org/Profiles/BasicProfile-1.1.html#One-Way_Operations] says the following:
There are differing interpretations of how HTTP is to be used when performing one-way operations.
R2714 For one-way operations, an INSTANCE MUST NOT return a HTTP response that contains an envelope. Specifically, the HTTP response entity-body must be empty.
R2750 A CONSUMER MUST ignore an envelope carried in a HTTP response message in a one-way operation.
R2727 For one-way operations, a CONSUMER MUST NOT interpret a successful HTTP response status code (i.e., 2xx) to mean the message is valid or that the receiver would process it.
Based on this, I believe that returning an empty SOAP envelope is not in compliance with the WS-I Basic Profile 1.1 (R2714), and is therefore a bug in the PI implementation that should be corrected in order for SAP to comply.
Unfortunately for Gagan and myself, the .NET WCF implementation is also not compliant with the WS-I Basic Profile 1.1 (R2750) and as a result we get the error I mentioned above. The only solution I have found so far is to change the operation contract on the .NET proxy to be IsOneWay = false, in which case the proxy will accept the empty envelope. While this may be an acceptable workaround, I don't think it's a valid long term solution, particularly if you're not able to influence the consumer development.
I guess the next step is to raise a Customer Message related to the empty envelope, and see what the PI Development Team think.
Cheers,
Jon

• Writting attached file from SOAP message to a FTP folder

Hi everybody,
Our scenario is an interface which receives a SOAP message with a file attached. As we don't need to do any mapping into the attachment, we are supposed to deliver that file as it is into a FTP folder.
Our problem is that we cannot find how to configure File comm channel to write the attached file and no the SOAP XML message which is what we are getting now. Any help on this?
Thanks in advance.

Hi All,
I am using project server 2007 and WSS 3.0.
I have been facing a strange issue for couple of days. I am unable to open PWA in browser and MS Project Pro on application server.

When i try to connect to MSP on App server, i get the following errors in event viewer.

One more issue i am facing and i guess that is related to above issue. The Issue is, when i am creating a new project, It's workspace gets created but doesn't get linked to the project and i can't link it manually because it already exists for the project.

• How to get full SOAP message in WebService

hi,
Is it possible to get SOAP message while Request operation during transaction in WebService.
I tried with Handler, while retreiving message it is having a MessageContext. How to initilize that like example
public boolean handleRequest(MessageContext mc) {
SOAPMessageContext messageContext = (SOAPMessageContext) mc;
System.out.println("** Request: "+ messageContext.getMessage().toString());
return true;
}while i make a class called SoapHdlr i have implemented all methods including the above.
In that from my class if i want to call the above method i need to pass MessageContext how to give that MessageContext or any other ways to get SOAPMessage fully.
plz can any one guide me there
ThanKQ

I think, there are some concepts missunderstood. First if you use JAX-WS- Metro framework, this kind of handlers will work. Also you should identify your SOAPHandler for your web service. For ex: in Netbeans 6, you can right click on service and select configure handlers. Then you decide your handler.
Then automatically, Metro framework directs SOAPMessages to your SOAPHandler to handle full SOAPs. HandleMessage() method will work.
If you have problem again, just ask.

• Trying to parse a Soap Message

I'm working on creating webservices that will be consumed by
Director and working with the client programmer, we've come to
recognize the problem, but we don't know how to resolve it.
Problem: the XMLParser doesn't follow href parameters in tags
that refer to subobjects, which result in a #getProp Ref error.
I have a web service method that will return a list of names
and it returns the following XML response:
<?xml version="1.0"
encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<soapenv:Envelope xmlns:soapenv="
http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"
xmlns:xsd="
http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
xmlns:xsi="
http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
<soapenv:Body>
<getStudentsResponse soapenv:encodingStyle="
http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/">
<getStudentsReturn href="#id0"
/>
</getStudentsResponse>
<multiRef id="id0"
soapenc:root="0" soapenv:encodingStyle="
http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/"
soapenc:arrayType="xsd:anyType[6]"
xsi:type="soapenc:Array" xmlns:soapenc="
http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/">
<multiRef
xsi:type="soapenc:string">Bob B
Bobbly</multiRef>
<multiRef
xsi:type="soapenc:string">Andy A
Anderson</multiRef>
<multiRef
xsi:type="soapenc:string">Carl C
Carlson</multiRef>
</multiRef>
</soapenv:Body>
</soapenv:Envelope>
When it hits the getStudentsReturn element and tries to refer
to a child node, and obviously fails.
The server is Tomcat 5.5, using Axis 1.4 for web services. I
can post a wsdl if desired.
The web service is configured for rpc/encoded style.
What is the way to get out of this particular jam? Neither me
nor the client programmer have extensive knowledge of how Director
(or the relevant Xtra) handles SOAP messages or parse them. I've
stepped through the code and seen the XML parser object render the
response into an object tree, but it doesn't respect the href's.
I can provide follow up to any questions or comments about
this problem.
Regards,
Jeff Vandenberg

Hi Jeff,
While I don't have much experience with web services, I'm
about to
embark on something that involves extensive use of them, so
your post
caught my eye.
If I understand correctly, the href attribute associated with
the
getStudentsReturn node is supposed to "automatically" link to
the
following multiRef array. Is that correct?
Assuming it *did* link correctly, how would this manifest
itself? Is it
not a matter of you the parser watching for href tags and
resolving them
yourself? Why would you not simply provide the multiRef nodes
as
children of the getStudentsReturn node? Is there
documentation somewhere
for the href attribute and this form of linking?
Have you tried using the Flash Asset xtra for parsing, and
does it
behave "correctly"?
