Enable Commenting on Interactive Form

Hello,
I am a bit of a newbie in javascript programming but I have been using Livecycle to design basic forms.  On the basic forms I created, I had no problem allowing the user to attach a file.
Just recently, I created a dynamic interactive form that works great (I started the design on Livecycle 8.0 but just recently upgraded to version 8.2 that came packaged with the Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended).  I have opened the finished form on Adobe Acrobat, extended reader rights, however, in Reader, it is not allowing attachment of file (basically---not allowing commenting).  [NOTE: I am using reader version 9.1].  I went back to Acrobat to make sure I did the reader rights enabling correctly and copied the complete message below.  I don't know why under the Note below it says that security permissions already exist that do not allow commenting.  I looked at the properties of the form on Livecyle and under PDF Security, both boxes to restrict document opening with a password AND restrict printing and editing of document with a password are both unchecked.  So it does not seem that there are restrictions.  I don't know why it's behaving this way.  Can someone help me?
Thank you.
MESSAGE from Acrobat when extending Reader Rights:
The following features will become available for this document when opened in
the free Adobe Reader.
- Save form data (for a fillable PDF form only)
- Sign an existing signature field
- Digitally sign the document anywhere on the page (not available for XML
forms; only supported in Adobe Reader 8.0 or later)
Note: Security permissions already existing on this document do not allow
commenting or signing the document other than signing existing signature
fields. Once Reader Enabled, certain functions, such as editing document
content or inserting and deleting pages, will also be restricted.

Well, it's a bit more complex.
Acrobat Pro does allow forms to be reader extended for commenting.  In fact, the rights include form fillin and save, creation and modification of form fields (including adding digital signtures), applying a digital signature and adding comments.  But there are two other things that can be getting you:
You can't put comments on a dynamic form... only static or pdf artwork
You can attach files to a PDF in one of two ways.  The first is an attached file in a comment.  The second is as an embedded/attached file (this is the file support that is now called portfolios).  There is a Reader Extension right called "additions and changes to embedded files" that is needed for this.  It is only available through the server-based Reader Extensions and not in Acrobat.

  • Interactive form and web dynpro abap

    Hi All,
    I'm working on a web dynpro application that embeds an interactive forms.
    When I sent the property "enabled" of the interactive form to false , the form is displayd.
    When I sent the property "enabled" of the interactive form to true, the application dumps :
    "WebDynpro Exception: The ADS call has failed. You can find information about the cause in the error.pdf on the application server "
    Do you know where this comes from?
    Thanks,
    Archana

    It looks like the ADS (adobe document services) is not (properly) installed.
    There are some test reports to check this:

  • Reader-enabled form from Acrobat is retaining interactive form fields when user saves the form

    This is an issue that has only recently come up. In the past it was not a problem to take a pdf, add interactive form fields to it in LiveCycle, then open the form in Acrobat and enable usage rights for Reader users.
    This allowed Reader users to fill out the form and save the results. With the most recent versions of Acrobat and Reader the user saves the form and the data AND the interactive form fields are saved in the resulting file - meaning that the data is still there to be changed. Clearly not what we want and not what Acrobat and Reader were doing previously.
    The form does properly display "You can save data typed in this form" when opened in Reader.
    I have got no response to this issue in the LiveCycle forum, and nothing shows up in a search. I would very much like to fix this, as it is affecting our entire library of pdf forms.

    In most instances the form is linked on the website, so the original form will cannot be overwritten.
    In some cases we have to supply an interactive pdf for a department that they will then distribute by email to various groups who are expected to fill the form out on submit on an ongoing basis. That is what I was meaning by the user filling out the form, printing it, and then being prompted to save changes.
    The bigger issue is that most of our users expect to take a form hosted on the website, fill it out, and then save a pdf copy of their responses for reference. The reference copy is retaining the interactive fields rather than printing as a static pdf.
    If I could force the action of printing as a pdf (rather than saving as a pdf) on submission I think that would solve the issue. The script for most of the forms in the library is xfa.host.print(1, "0", (xfa.host.numPages -1).toString(), 0, 0, 0, 0, 0); and I am not aware of a way to force the print to only be to the pdf print driver.

  • Enable Track Changes on Interactive Form

    Hi,
    I have an interactive form that I designed in LiveCycle Designer 8. I've set the distribution rights using Acrobat Pro to enable my Reader users to fill out the form.
    When the completed form is returned I would like to add sticky notes and text edits using Pro, but Acrobat restricts the use of markup tools to static PDF documents.
    Does anyone know how to allow the use of markup tools on interactive documents?
    Thanks!
    Andi

    AFAIK, you can't.
    Sorry.

  • Do I need ACF on each client machine to enable Interactive forms within WDJ

    hello All,
    I want to integrate the Interactive Forms in some of my Web Dynpro JAVA Applications, which in turn will be run inside a Portal.
    Wanted to know if installing the ACF on each client machine is a pre-requisite to view the PDFs directly inside the EP screen.
    The EP version is 7.00 SP18. We do have the ADS configured in one of the server.
    I know ACF was required on each client machine for EP 6.0, not sure about the 7.0 version though.
    Where can I see the pre-requisites for using ADF forms within WDJ?
    Any pointer is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Sandip,
    Do refer [this|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/2c/241a427ff6db2ce10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm] link. It has the information you need. Short text from the same link
    "Interactive forms in the ISR framework are part of ZCI. They can be used as of SAP NetWeaver SPS 10 at runtime in Web Dynpro for ABAP based on Zero Client Installation (ZCI). To enable this, the forms must contain special scripting, which you insert when you create new forms in Form Builder.
    Until now, you needed to install Active Component Framework (ACF) on the front-end PC to use interactive forms. As of SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SPS10, ZCI enables you to use interactive forms in Adobe Reader without any additional plug-ins. ACF is therefore no longer required for interactive forms."
    So you can conclude that you wouldnt need the ACF plugin on each client PC.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    As far as i know when you use Adobe forms in a WD4A application, language is your "web" connection language.
    You can have a look at standard class CL_WD_ADOBE_SERVICE, it's used when generating an adobe forms from WD4A. , more particulary look at method DETERMINE_DOCPARAMS.

  • Web Service is not triggering  using Adobe Interactive Form

    Hello Experts,
      I know this is a common topic now , but the problem I am facing, no thread help me to solve that.
    Problem:--
    My requirement is to create an adobe form , in which
      -> an input field is needed,and some  description is needed.
    I used button to trigger my webservice.
    Here , I want to clear that , I have made a proper WEB SERVICE using Remote Enabled FM.
    My web service is working fine as I have tested from WS NAVIGATOR(Note:  http://<source>:<port>/wsnavigator).
    In Adobe Form (SFP), I have made a new Data connection using WebService WSDL.
    All Request and Response parameters are availabe in Data View palletes of Form.
    Button that is available from data connection is used.
    I  have used Button as  an Execute button , under execute tab in connection , I had given DATA CONNECTION name .
    But above things not worked so ,
    I also tried with Regular Button , and under click written Javascript/FormCalc  which is:--
    var cURL = 'http://x.y.com:8012/sap/bc/srt/rfc/sap/ZMATERIAL_DESCRIPTION?sap-client=800&wsdl=1.1';
    var service = SOAP.connect(cURL);
    xfa.connectionSet.DataConnection2.execute(0);
    But this also not worked .
    So, I think there can be a little issue may be , I am forgetting to click some special  atrributes in form .
    Please help me and let me know what can be probable reasons that webservice is not triggering
    Thanks a lot ,

  • How can user attach file to interactive form, and be read by abap program?

    Hello,
    I created an abap interactive form, sent to the user, then user fills out the form fields, then it is uploaded back to sap, then my program reads this data and process it.
    It works.
    Now I want users to be able to attach any file they want, and the abap program to extract this file out of the PDF, to put it into SAP (or anywhere).
    I succeeded in attaching a file, I can "see" it via function module get_annotations, but I get the file in compressed form by Adobe (filter="FlateDecode").
    Do you know how to unzip the file, or is there another way to attach files in adobe reader/extract them via abap?
    I use acrobat reader 8.1.2
    Thx a lot!
    sandra
    Below is the xml obtained by GET_ANNOTATIONS. We see that there are other text annotations, and that the attached file has {length="98005"}, though real file (before "attach file" to the PDF, and also after "detach file") has length 111 995 bytes. It's why I deduced that there is a compression (I also tried to extract it as-is and open it with adobe but it doesn't work.

    Hello everybody,
    I am sure you have an answer to my question above. It was :
    how is it possible for a user to ATTACH files to a PDF interactive form, and then be able to READ them via a program ? (I guess the solution to read them via ABAP or JAVA is quite the same?)
    Thx a lot !

  • Error message while clicking PDF Preview of a ADOBE interactive form

    Hi -
    I am creating an ADOBE interactive form having Tables, few text fields and E-mail submit button. The scripting language used is FormCalc.
    Whenever I am clicking on PDF Preview to see the form layout and to check other functionality, I am getting an error message:
    Error message -
    Error: syntax error near token '|' on line 1, column 14.
    Script failed (language is formcalc; context is xfa[0].form[0].data[0].Mainpage[0].Subform3[0].Table2[0].Row1[0].RATING[0])
    script=this.isnull || (this.rawvalue >= -32768 && this.rawvalue <= 32767
    I checked my scripts and there is no syntax error in that. My form is also working absolutely fine except getting this error message pop up whenever I try previewing my form.
    Can you please tell me, what can be the possible reason.

    I tried everything, but couldn't figure out the reason for error. I wrote the script again, but the error is still coming.
    Here is a part of my script. I have written this script on Email submit button in preSubmit event, to check if the RATING field value is less than or equal to 3. depending upon this condition, I am making the COMMENT field as mandatory. The same script is repeated for all the RATING & COMMENT fields.
    if (data.GyanMainBodyPage.Subform2.Table1.Row1.RATING1 <= 3)
    then
                  data.GyanMainBodyPage.Subform2.Table1.Row1.COMMENT1.mandatory = "error"
                  data.GyanMainBodyPage.Subform2.Table1.Row1.COMMENT1.mandatoryMessage = "Please fill corresponding comment"
    else
                  data.GyanMainBodyPage.Subform2.Table1.Row1.COMMENT1.mandatory = "disabled"
    endif

  • How do I enable a LiveCycle PDF form to be saved in Adobe Reader?

    I have an interactive PDF form that I created in LiveCycle. However, when it is opened with Adobe Reader, the user is unable to save it. They can only print from Reader. How do I enable the LiveCycle PDF form to be saved in Adobe Reader?

    You have to add save rights with Acrobat.
    Open you form in Acrobat and then save it via File > Save As Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools.

  • File Save As Other Reader Extended PDF Enable Commenting & Measuring GRAYED OUT

    I have an PDF form created in Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES 10.0.
    When I open in Reader, All the "Sign" options are grayed out.
    Under "Properties" Signing is allowed but Commenting is not.
    From all I have seen, I hope that allowing Commenting will allow me to use the sign features.
    The only solution I'm finding on the internet is below:
    File > Save As Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable Commenting & Measuring
    It is grayed out in my (latest version of) Acrobat pro.
    **Is there a way to make this option available?**
    **Will this even solve my problem?**
    **Is it possible that it is impossible to use these features on this document?**
    At this point, I've spent about two and a half hours on this issue and haven't been able to find a solution. Very frustrated.
    Thanks.

    Thanks. I'm not an IT person and needed that lead.
    In the end, I just printed to Adobe PDF and then was able to use the commenting options (once I had flattened it). For those who might come across this - this is one of the only ways to flatten a XFA PDF.

  • Adobe interactive form in wd abap

    hi,
    When i set the enabled property to true for the interactive form in WD ABAP, it either doesnt display the form or the form comes in display mode,
    Can you please tell me know if any,
    Thanks,
    Saujanya

    Hi Saujanya,
    The interface of the UI element InteractiveForm contains the method
    SET_LEGACY_EDITING_MODE, which in turn contains a Boolean parameter. The form is
    then ready for input when
    ● The parameter has the value X.
    ● The property enabled in the UI element InteractiveForm is selected.
    The following code fragment shows how this input readiness can be set up:
    method WDDOMODIFYVIEW.
    data: LR_INTERACTIVE_FORM type ref to CL_WD_INTERACTIVE_FORM,
    LR_METHOD_HANDLER type ref to IF_WD_IACTIVE_FORM_METHOD_HNDL.
    check first_time = abap_true.
    LR_INTERACTIVE_FORM ?= VIEW->GET_ELEMENT(u2018INTERACTIVE_FORM_1u2019).
    *Replace INTERACTIVE_FORM_1  with  Property 'ID' of your UI element InteractiveForm
    LR_METHOD_HANDLER ?= LR_INTERACTIVE_FORM->_METHOD_HANDLER.
    LR_METHOD_HANDLER->SET_LEGACY_EDITING_ENABLED( abap_true ).
    endmethod.
