End of html tag

Is it possible tohighlight
tag ?
For example: I write:
<div>
</div>
Click on '<div>' and it and its end '</div>' are highlighted.

If highlighting is important to you, file a feature request: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform.
Different IDEs have different ways of doing things. That's why they're different. If they all worked the same way, there would be no point in there being more than one IDE. Ask yourself which is more important: highlighting or the other features offered by Dreamweaver? If the other IDE suits your purposes better, use it. But also try Dreamweaver's way of doing things. You might end up liking it and realizing that highlighting isn't such a big deal after all.

    And that is a critical distinction to make. HTML parsing is horribly complex. XML is quite easy. For HTML you have to code your own parser in PL/SQL. XML can be parsed using the XMLTYPE class/data type in PL/SQL.
    So if you need to find a single specific tag in HTML - I would not try to treat it as XML. I may not even try to use regular expressions.
    I would do a basic substring search for the start of the tag. Read the data following the tag. Ensure that there are no nested or embedded tags in the data. Until the end tag is read. Because HTML is that much abused - and because that is an accepted norm as parsers used by browsers deals with that abuse without complaining.
    Proper HTML is mostly a myth in my experience of "screen scraping" web servers for data extraction as they do not have web services supplying the data.

  • How can I eliminate HTML tags from Oracle Text Snippet?

    I perform a search on many tables and on many columns of those tables.
    Some of those columns are VARCHAR2 and some CLOB.
    Also, some of the searchable data are HTML and some are plain text.
    My problem is that ctx_doc.snippet fetches the HTML tags.
    For example I get this, as a snippet result in one of my searches: Qual Germany n1 &lt;p&gt;Test Qual Germany n1&lt;/p&gt;
    I want the result to be fetched without the HTML tags.
    In my index configuration I have used NULL FILTER and HTML_SECTION_GROUP.With that configuration I managed to eliminate the HTML tags but not in all cases!
    For example:
    I search table CONTENTS columns TITLE(VARCHAR2) and MAIN_TEXT(CLOB)
    I created the following procedure that concatenates the two columns:
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE CONTENTS_PROC( p_id in rowid, p_lob IN OUT clob)
    IS
    BEGIN
    FOR c1 IN (SELECT main_text||' '||title data FROM contents WHERE ROWID = p_id)
    LOOP
    dbms_lob.copy( p_lob, c1.data,
    dbms_lob.getlength( c1.data ));
    END LOOP;
    END;
    I created a user Datastore:
    BEGIN
    ctx_ddl.create_preference( 'content_trans_datastore', 'user_datastore' );
    ctx_ddl.set_attribute( 'content_trans_datastore', 'procedure', 'CONTENTS_PROC' );
    END;
    and finally I create the index:
    CREATE INDEX content_trans_ot_idx ON contents(ORACLE_TEXT_COLUMN)
    INDEXTYPE IS ctxsys.CONTEXT PARAMETERS ('datastore content_trans_datastore SYNC(ON COMMIT) STORAGE INDEX_STORAGE filter ctxsys.null_filter section group ctxsys.html_section_group');
    When I perform the search on those data: &lt;p&gt; &lt;strong&gt;Test Doc-Test &lt;/strong&gt; &lt;/p&gt; the snippet I get is: Test Doc-Test.
    That's fine, the html tags are removed!
    In another case I search table NCP columns NAME(VARCHAR2) and BODY(VARCHAR2)
    I created the following procedure that concatenates the two columns:
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE NCP_PROC( p_id in rowid, p_lob IN OUT clob)
    IS
    BEGIN
    FOR c1 IN (SELECT name||' '||body data FROM ncp WHERE ROWID = p_id)
    LOOP
    dbms_lob.copy( p_lob, c1.data,
    dbms_lob.getlength( c1.data ));
    END LOOP;
    END;
    I created a user Datastore:
    BEGIN
    ctx_ddl.create_preference( 'ncp_trans_datastore', 'user_datastore' );
    ctx_ddl.set_attribute( 'ncp_trans_datastore', 'procedure', 'NCP_PROC' );
    END;
    and finally I create the index:
    CREATE INDEX ncp_trans_ot_idx ON ncp(ORACLE_TEXT_COLUMN)
    INDEXTYPE IS ctxsys.CONTEXT PARAMETERS('datastore ncp_trans_datastore SYNC(ON COMMIT) STORAGE INDEX_STORAGE filter ctxsys.null_filter section group ctxsys.html_section_group');
    When I perform the search on those data: test &lt;strong&gt; &lt;/strong&gt;http://deleteme.com the snippet I get is: test &lt;strong&gt; &lt;/strong&gt;http://deleteme.com!!!!!!!!!!
    How is this possible? Why in the first case the HTML tags are eliminated and in the second case they are not?
    Thanks,
    Margarita

    Doing various tests I found out that the problem is when I need to search in multiple columns of a table.
    That is when I create a user_datastore that uses a procedure that concatenates the columns.
    And especially when the data with the html tags is in a VARCHAR2 column.
    e.g
    --create the table*
    CREATE TABLE CONTENT_TRANS (content_trans_id NUMBER,
    main_text CLOB,
    title vARCHAR2(2000),
    oracle_text_column VARCHAR2(1));
    alter table "CONTENT_TRANS" add constraint CONTENT_PK primary key("CONTENT_TRANS_ID") ;
    --Insert dummy data*
    Insert into CONTENT_TRANS
    (CONTENT_TRANS_ID,MAIN_TEXT,TITLE)
    values
    (1,'lorem','lorem <p>qualification</p> 2.1 ');
    Insert into CONTENT_TRANS
    (CONTENT_TRANS_ID,MAIN_TEXT,TITLE)
    values
    (2,'lorem','lorem <br>qualification</br> 2.1 ');
    --CREATE THE procedure that concatenates main_text(CLOB) and title(VARCHAR2)*
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE CONTENT_TRANS_PROC( p_id in rowid, p_lob IN OUT clob)
    IS
    BEGIN
    FOR c1 IN (SELECT main_text||' '||title data FROM content_trans WHERE ROWID = p_id)
    LOOP
    dbms_lob.copy( p_lob, c1.data,
    dbms_lob.getlength( c1.data ));
    END LOOP;
    END;
    --Create the user datastore*
    BEGIN
    ctx_ddl.create_preference( 'content_trans_datastore', 'user_datastore' );
    ctx_ddl.set_attribute( 'content_trans_datastore', 'procedure', 'CONTENT_TRANS_PROC' );
    END;
    --Create the index*
    CREATE INDEX content_trans_ot_idx ON content_trans(ORACLE_TEXT_COLUMN)
    INDEXTYPE IS ctxsys.CONTEXT PARAMETERS ('datastore content_trans_datastore SYNC(ON COMMIT) filter ctxsys.null_filter section group ctxsys.html_section_group');
    exec ctx_doc.set_key_type('PRIMARY_KEY');
    --Perform the query
    SELECT SCORE(1),ct.content_trans_id, ctx_doc.snippet('content_trans_ot_idx', ct.content_trans_id, 'lorem') as snippet
    from content_trans ct
    where contains(ct.ORACLE_TEXT_COLUMN, 'lorem', 1) > 1;
    Results WITH NOT WANTED HTML TAGS:
    6     1     <b>lorem</b> <b>lorem</b> &lt;p&gt;qualification&lt;/p&gt; 2.1
    6     2     <b>lorem</b> <b>lorem</b> &lt;br&gt;qualification&lt;/br&gt; 2.1

  • How to include HTML tags in a success message?

    I have seen a few posts on this topic in the past, but have not seen a definitive response...apologies if this has been answered.
    I would like to have a dynamic process success message that includes some HTML tags in it - in this case an anchor tag that can jump the user back to the object he/she just edited.
    So, I build up a dynamic success message in a page variable - say P10_SUCCESS_MSG - and set the Process Success Message field in the relevant Process to &P10_SUCCESS_MSG.
    The problem is that when the page template substitutes in my message for #SUCCESS_MESSAGE# it looks like it also escapes any HTML tags, so the markup gets displayed literally on the page.
    Is there any recommended way to override or get around this behavior?
    Many thanks,
    Bill

    I just noticed that it looks like the success message is passed around on the URL - when I look at my URL after a successful form process, I see &success_msg=BIG_UGLY_ESCAPED_SUCCESS_MSG_HERE embedded in the URL. If this is the case, I can see why - technically - it ends up getting escaped. Looks like I may have to figure out my own hack for success message processing - maybe some weird post-processing of a placeholder success token that I replace in a page 0 process or something...

  • Need to copy Data from a specific Html Tag

    Hello,
    I am trying to use CF to access website and capture data from a specific tag to the end of that tag and store same in a csv file or database.
    The tag based search of an open file is where I am not able to get any head way. Any one has done this?

    You'll need to use a regular expression for that. CF supports regular expressions with the REFind, REFindNoCase and REReplace functions. Here's an example of using regular expressions to capture the value within an HTML tag:
    http://www.javamex.com/tutorials/regular_expressions/example_scraping_html.shtml
    It's in Java, but the syntax for regular expressions is the same in CF.

    Hi,
    it took me some time to understand what the code should do.
    First of all please let me say, that wiring trough the error cluster is immanent for debugging. One problem I see is that the refnum from the document element is zero, so that all other calls for childs are failing. You will only notice this by debugging or execution highlighting (see James hint). You will also see a hint for a problem in this region of the code when you look at your indicator loadXml. This once was always False.
    I have changed two things:
    LoadXml.vi -> Read from Text File instead of binary
    Main.vi -> Using the read text for input of the LoadXml invoke method and not the pretty printed one.
    Now LoadXml performs the action and your 2D array is filling in some stuff. My advice would be to carefully debug your code and look, where references get lost and where errors occur.

    Don't do this via the SQL selection as hardcoded HTML??
    I think the following 2 approaches far superior.
    If you need the actual SQL projection to contain HTML, implement user functions for data transformation. E.g.
    SQL> create or replace function MakeDiv(
      2          divBody varchar2,
      3          fontColor varchar2 default 'black',
      4          tooltip varchar2 default null )
      5  return varchar2 is
      6          DIV_TEMPLATE constant varchar2(4000) :=
      7          '<div style="color:$COLOR" title="$TOOLTIP"> $BODY </div>';
      8
      9          htmlDiv varchar2(4000);
    10  begin
    11          htmlDiv := replace( DIV_TEMPLATE, '$BODY', divBody );
    12          htmlDiv := replace( htmlDiv, '$COLOR', fontColor );
    13          htmlDiv := replace( htmlDiv, '$TOOLTIP', tooltip );
    14          return( htmlDiv );
    15  end;
    16  /
    Function created.
    SQL>
    SQL> select MakeDiv( ename, 'blue', 'Employee '||empno ) from emp;
    MAKEDIV(ENAME,'BLUE','EMPLOYEE'||EMPNO)
    <div style="color:blue" title="Employee 7369"> SMITH </div>

    SQL> An even better approach is not to do this in the SQL projection - but instead have a PL/SQL framework that accepts a SQL, and turns the SQL projection of that SQL into a HTML report. Where this framework can use different templates to generate different types of HTML reports.
    This approach is very successfully used by Oracle Apex.

  • Best way to format text: HTML tags or CSS?

    Probably a silly question, but...  I can format the text within a div using CSS Styles (Font-size, Font-Style, Font-Weight, etc.) or by applying an HTML tag, such as <H1>. (Or, I guess a combination where I use CSS to format the tag, but let's skip that one for now.)
    In general, is one approach better than the other? Thanks!

    +1 Nancy. The specific tags exist today simply because of the meaning it adds to your site at the backend - especially for search engines to understand what's going on with your site. And since search engines dont 'see' your page, but 'read' your code, these tags are the only hope for them to figure out what your site contains and how to place it on their results.
    On a sidenote, the first method of using inline styles is time-consuming and results in larger filesizes since you'll end up doing it for each div tag. The second method is much simpler as you can style each individual tag in CSS and re-use them anywhere you want on your site.

  • HTML tags in Dynamic Text

    I am planning on building a website in flash with 90 percent
    of the site in dynamic text. Will flash read the html tags in a
    text file as text or html and code it as a browser would.

    yes, Flash will accept HTML tags, and there are a couple of
    different methods to make this work. But in my limited experience,
    it's a little tricky, and both require a little extra Actionscript
    to make them function. I read some info about this in some of the
    tutorials, but I can't point to them at the moment.
    First, one can use use the ' yourtext_txt.htmlText =
    yoursource_txt; ' method to read a plain text line that contains
    HTML tags. However there are some parameters that need to be set up
    before it will function properly, and there are several optionals
    to choose from, but it seems most importantly to set the HTML
    property to true as in ' yourtext_txt.html = true; ' but there
    still are several different things requried, especially if your
    looking for dynamic on-the-fly changes to different sections of
    text. here's a snipit I'd been working on that uses a similar
    system with arrays:
    did that work, huh? thought I was adding code.
    Another method is to use a CSS or by defining your own
    stylesheet tags within Flash Actionscript. This method seems to
    work better when using LoadVars, where you would define the
    ContentStyle. First you define the StyleSheet, then apply it to the
    dynamic text area (I'll try this again), here's a snipit: (OK I
    think i get it the code will attach to the end of this post, so I
    post the second set in a following post)
    These are just some examples though, from my own
    experimentations, and of course onw would define thier own
    variables. I'm no expert, but I hope this gets you going, just a
    few ideas.

  • Displaying content in JSP page, want BR but not other Html tags

    I have a page and am reading files and displaying the contents of the files onto the page in a <div> Oneissue is that in the file the end of line are \n or \r\n whichever operation system. I replaced those with <BR> no problem. Now my issue is that I display that in the JSP page:
    <c:out value="${filecontents}" escapeXml="false" />I use escapeXml so that <BR> will add the line breaks. Now my issue is that the file might contains other HTML tags that I want to display simply as text - I don't want the browser to render the other HTML tags.
    Is there a way to do that? Would I have to replace HTML tags with something special?

    Hmm... your file contains HTML tags, but you don't want the browser to interpret them as HTML tags, right? So the way to do that is to use escapeXml="true" in your c:out element.
    But then that also escapes the <BR> tags that you carefully put in there. And you don't want that. You want the browser to interpret those as HTML tags.
    I guess you can't have it both ways. Can you do something like outputting one line of the file at a time with <c:out ... escapeXml="true"> followed by <br>?

  • How to display html tags content in flex

    hi all,
    It would be great if any one can lead me to a tutorial of
    integrating html tags content in flex. Actulay i have to insert and
    series to table in flex
    thanks

    The Flash Player has a very limited number of HTML tags it
    can handle - table is not one of them. Since Flex is just a way to
    build Flash Player content you are limited by what the Flash Player
    can do.
    We don't supply a full browser/HTML rendering engine in the
    Flash Player because it would make the Flash Player a
    multi-megabyte download (eg, 11-12 MBytes); right now the Player
    has a small footprint which enables it to be downloaded by
    virtually everyone.
    The Adobe AIR player (see labs.adobe.com) does have a full
    HTML component and can run Flex programs. The caveat is that the
    apps are not run in the browser, but on the local machine. The
    end-user has to download the AIR player in order to use it.
    You can also check out Alex's blog (
