Enterprise Manager Exceeding Max Processes Parameter
We have a new install of 11.2.0.2 on OEL 5. We have the processes parameter set to 500 and sessions parameter set to over 700. We have EM database control setup and for some reason, it was using all of the processes making us unable to connect to the database. As soon as we shutdown dbconsole, the number of active processes went back down to less than 40. There were only 3 active users on the system. Anyone know why EM was making so many connections? Is this a bug?
There were various bugs in earlier versions (one says "This bug would have been fixed in old 11GC line which has been decommisioned."), look at the emagent.trc and see if has large numbers of uninformative errors. Do an SR, they'll probably uncaringly make you recreate everything and it will magically transform into different errors.

I am having ora-0020 max processes issue, but my max processes is set to 550, and I have a highwater mark of 132 processes

ORA-0020 does seem to be a problem at the instance level, not the underlying O/S.

Can not view audit trail of BPMN Process instance in Enterprise Manager
I can not view the audit trail of BPMN Process instance in Enterprise Manager. When I try to click on BPMN process link inside process instance flow trace a NoClassDefFoundError error occurs. How can I fix this?

Till you get exact answer, try indirect approach. I did view page source and could not find the details in the source code. Then I clicked on image to show in new browser and thats when I got this link: You can dig into this imageRenderer.jsp file that can be found in one of the WAR files shown below. Look into EARs also that my have WARs with this jsp. Mostly there should be some sort of Servlet also to display the audit trail. I just checked from bpm/workspace Process Tracking Tab. I did not looked from EM Console tracking tabs though.
beaHome\Oracle_SOA1\soa\applications\OracleBPMWorkspace.ear has a OracleBPMWorkspace.war file. See if this direction helps

BPEL processes not showing up in the Enterprise Manager
We're having a serious problem with our BPEL processes. When we click on the initiate tab in the BPELConsole for each of them they give us the error message:
An Error Occured :
Failed to read WSDL from http://testserver:8888/orabpel/mydomain/TestProcess/1.1/TestProcess?wsdl:WSDL not found
When we look in the Enterprise Manager and go to the Web Services tab for the "orabpel" application we don't see any of our processes like we used to. When we deploy new processes the same thing happens -- their wsdls are unreachable. When we type the wsdl location into browser bar it gives us this error message:
there is no WSDL associated with the provider: BPEL_OC4J_SOAP_Provider
Any help would be greatly appreciated.I ran into a BPEL_OC4J_SOAP_Provider error today and it was related to my proxy. The proxy on my local machine with JDeveloper would allow a WSDL with an unqualified name through. For instance, the machine kronos:7779 would validate, compile, and deploy from my machine. But looking up the WSDL on the server would produce the above described error. When I changed the name of the server to kronos.whatever.com:7779 it worked as expected on the server.

Oracle Enterprise Manager executable failed on restart: nmeo.exe process
Hi all
I installed Oracle 10.2.0.1 on Windows Server 2003 with default options but a fatal error occurs daily and just after a restart. The error described hereunder occurs each day at the same time that the last restart was done. It seems the Oracle Enterprise Manager failed due to the NetWorker Module process.
The displayed error is a general bug report window, which aims to send data to Microsoft. The title of this crash window is "Oracle Enterprise Manager executable" but the process, which seems to be crashed is "nmeo.exe".
I've tryed to re-install Oracle with several Windows accounts (admin,...) in vain.
This error appears daily two or three times at the same time. How could I fix this issue ?

Enterprise Manager is not able to connect to the database instance....
Hi all,
Currently i'm facing a big issue here.
I have install the Oracle 10g on Window 2003 SE.
And currently the Enterprise manager is not be able to conenct to the database and my database is still running.With my listener is up.
But from the Enterprise manager's it show that everythg is down.
and when i try to restart it,i ask for os id and password and dbuser and dbpassword.
frm the SQL plus,i can easily startup and shutdown the database.
So i would like to know i can rectify this problem.

Please kindly assist me on this.Looking at the error message "The Network Adapter could not establish the connection" , It appears hostname and port may be incorrect. Review the targets.xml under E:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\SAP_solman_SDB\emd and
emoms.properties under E:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\SAP_solman_SDB\config folder to make sure host ( sap_solman) and port (1527) are correct.
As far as setting the environment variables goes, you can go to control panel -> system -> advanced -> environment variables and set the ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID

Failed to install enterprise manager under linux
When I installed Oracle 10g(10.2.0.1) under linux, I got an error when running
/ora01/db/oracle/product/10.2.0.1/bin/emca within oracle universal installer.

So I have to run emca after the oracle installation. I am new to this tool. I modified both tnsnames.ora and listener.ora file to set port to 1521. And then I run emca -config all db,
but now I cannot pass "entering the password for SYS user" (I already set SYS user's password to oracle, and it works when using sqlplus.) .
I am totally confused. What should I run emca to set up the enterprise manager's website? Now I can use localhost:5560/isqlplus and localhost:5560/isqlplus/dba.

I just installed Wily Introscope for the first time. I have successfully installed it from the log below:

I also confirm that the Introscope Enterprise Manager is started as a service.
However, when i try to launch enterprise by following the path All Programs > CA Wily > Introscope 8.2.3.5 > Introscope Enterprise Manager....
I get the error below:

Cannot connect to Enterprise Manager
Hi,
I am using Oracle 10.2g for our database, which is growing regularly on a daily basis. Today, the database ran out of table space (which happened before too and I have resolved it by adding another table from EM).
So, when I tried connecting to Enterprise Manager (EM), i was unable to connect to it.

I did some research and found some tips for the same:
1) Resize the table-space by using .. "alter database datafile" .. command. It did not work.
2) Restarted the computer but it did not work too.
The surprising part is that I can connect to the database using SQL/Toad but I simply cannot login to Oracle EM. Can anyone please help me?
Or can anyone help me on how to add another table (because the one I am using currently is maxed out) from SQL+?

Enterprise Manager 10g and DBCA
I created a new database called "roundie" using dbca. The database created successfully and here's my information:

Now, when i go to the Enterprise Manager via the URL above, it asks me for a Username and Password for my Database: roundie. I don't ever recall specifying a username during my DBCA wizard process. I do recall the wizard asking me for a password though. What is my username? I can't login into my database. Did i miss a step somewhere along the dbca process?Hi,
During Database creation by DBCA would prompted you a gloabl password or password for sys, system,sysman etc.
So if u have provided the password then login to OEM as a sysman or sys/system user.

I have installed An Oracle Database 12c and further planning to install Enterprise Manager 12c CC on top of this,
Since occassionally my system IP changes due to dhcp configuration, hence i prefer using hostnames instead of IP address and further update hosts.properties file iwthin C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\
further in case if i have to change the hostname of my machine, is there any utility that will help to update the hostname across properties files of all the Enterprise Manager components ?
Also when installing 12c EMCC, i understand there is a pre-requisite to deconfig dbcontrol.
In my case when i run from on Oracle 12c Database home, - emca -deconfig dbcontrol db -repos drop,
I get unkown command error.

I tried Starting the agent and it started successfully. But pingOMS failed and also in agent status,, it shows OMS unreachable

The trace/log file excerpts show that the agent stopped collecting metrics due to one of the following limits, which are set in the <agent_home>/sysman/config/emd.properties file, had been reached:
- The total size of the of pending upload files in MB (UploadMaxBytesXML)
- The number of files pending upload (UploadMaxNumberXML)
- The percentage disk space used (UploadMaxDiskUsedPct)
I suggest that you check the above parameters (in parentheses) in the emd.properties file and, if possible, increase their values to allow the agent to resume collecting metrics. Note that you may have to change to value of the parameter UploadMaxDiskUsedPctFloor if the disk used percentage of filesystem where the agent home resides has exceeded the limit set by the parameter. Bounce the agent or reload it (using the "emctl reload agent" command) for any agent parameter change to take effect. To find the agent home, issue command "emctl getemhome".
After the agent resumes metric collection, investigate what caused the file backlog and take corrective actions. Log an SR to Support if you need help.

we are using oracle 10gR2
we have created database with default parameters...
so earlier porcesses and sessions value were 150 and 170 respectively..
after some time we got an eorror that max no. of processes exceeded...
so i have increase both parametes to 300 and 320 respectively...
after creating some more schema i again got this error so i again increase both parametes to 400 and 420 respectively..
after some time some new schema created and because of the same error i have finaly made it 500 and 520.
i have never analyze why this error frequently comming.. because i only know that whenever max processes or max sessions exceeds u have to increase the current value...
is there there any problem on database if i m keep on increasing this value..

You can set higher value for processes, sessions and transactions in your system depending upon how much RAM you got on your machine and how much you can afford to give Oracle processes. So what will be happen if you keep increasing these parameter, eventually you will run out memory for very higher number of connection and either application will stall and database. So I recommend make sure your time out idle connections (over 30 Mins) to release memory. Also analyze your application which making connection and not releasing them but keep in mind you have to plan for future as well, so analyze connection growth over past month or so and alllocate accordingly.

I see nothing inherently wrong with them. Out of 150 processes, a maximum of 40 can be allocated to Parallel Slaves. It all depends how well you're managing/using parallel option on your workload. -
Memory Requirements for Wily Enterprise Manager

I am using Wily 8.0 and we are seeing slowness in SOLMAN JAVA stack and in Wily EM. Before throwing memory I am trying to understand following points. I have already gone through installation documents which does not cover following points
1> I understand Wily EM requires heap memory. Does Wily EM heap memory is same as JAVA heap, I mean both JAVA node and Wily EM access same assigned part of memory OR both JAVA node and Wily EM needs seperate memory? As per this I will throw more memory at box.
2> Installation guide say "Increase the heap size (u2013Xmx) of the Enterprise Manager if you have more than
~10 agents" but how much? I did not see any formula for this.
3> I am observing Wily EM process at O.S level is keep running continuously since I restarted it last time (which is weeks now). Is it normal?

Question 1.
Wily needs JVM Heap memory, which would be different from J2EE Instance HEAP. Adding additional physical RAM to your server will definitely help.
Question 2.
Set the Heap Size parameters to a minimum of 1024 MB
Initial Java Heap Size (in MB)
wrapper.java.initmemory=1024
Maximum Java Heap Size (in MB)
wrapper.java.maxmemory=1024 ((higher the better....)
Set the Java VM parameter u2013Djava.awt.headless=true for all platforms.
Otherwise, the Enterprise Manager will need an X server, i.e., the DISPLAY
environment variable must point to a valid X Windows server.
The file to maintain the parameterization is EMService.conf available in the
standard insttallation path /usr/sap/ccms/wilyintroscope
