Epson 9880 printer drivers not displaying

Hi. I'm using LR4 current version on a Lion machine (also current version) - IMAC 27"  (also current version) with an Epson 9880 printer. Currently trying this with the Lion driver and version 6.1.2 Epson profiles. I've also tried this with the most recent Snow Leopard driver with the same results. The profiles are not showing up in the "other" dialog within LR4. They do show up in printer setup. I also have a 4800 here and that is working fine. I notice that the Color Sync utility is not displaying them. I've tried downloading and reinstalling, restarting, etc. - no change. I don't recall this being a problem with LR3.
I have been using the Snow Leopard profiles because of the problems associated with the shaded color/BW print dialog in the Lion printer dialogs, for what that's worth, and I thought everything was fine but now, this problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Thanks
Chris Hutcheson

I discovered the solution to the problem in the Photoshop forum, here - http://forums.adobe.com/message/4477066 - same results in Lightroom - problem solved. I'm wondering, though, whether there is any advantage going to the Epson Lion printer driver as opposed to the Snow Leopard one. It seems the Snow Leopard one has more functionality as far as selection of accucolour vs. B& W, but then again, wouldn't it make as much sense to simply print my black and white documents managed by Lightroom, without paying attention the print dialog settings (in Lion, that is, where I can't do anything unless I let the printer manage colours)? Particularly since I use non Epson paper a lot of the time?
Thanks for any advice...
Cheers
Chris

I would imagine the drivers supplied with the printer will not be compatible with your existing operating system.
Download the older drivers for your OS here, and then try the install again.

Epson 777i Printer will not print
I am using an imac with the Epson Stylus Color 777i printer,Gutenprint v5.2.3 and also the Epson 580 printer.
Yesterday the 777i stopped printing.  It is in the paused mode. I have replaced the ink cartridges and have tried to
perform troubleshooting but, the printer will not respond to any commands.  The green light is on, neither of the
    other two lights are on.
The 580 printer is working with no problems.
I need some assistance to get the printer back on line if at all possible.  I am not too tech smart, but can follow
    directions well.

  • Printer Properties not displaying all settings.

The Printer properties in Adobe Reader for Linux do not display all the available preferences for a given printer driver- and you are unable to edit the Printer Command in the Printer Properties window to get around this. This combo of limitations renders it useless in our environment.
We have a Savin C6055 printer in a multi-tenant facility. Each print job needs User Code associated with it for accounting purposes. The CUPS drivers for Savin support this quite nicely and other Linux apps (Evince, OpenOffice, etc.) allow you to access this setting in the print dialog. Adobe Reader does not.
    This is a problem.

    Hi Patrick,
This is something we're planning to fix in our upcoming major release of the Reader. To know about upcoming releases of the reader on Unix, stay tuned to the reader blog at http://blogs.adobe.com/acroread

  • Print drivers not working

My new MacBook will not print on my Canon Pixma MP620 printer.
Not finding the exact printer in the drivers list, I tried various similar printers. The print queue shows my job for a few seconds, appears to be loading, then reverts to "printer ready." Nothing prints.
I have downloaded the driver from canon and installed it, but it never shows up in the drivers list (even after restart). I even downloaded the most recent version of Gutenprint, but the exact printer never shows up in the list.
I find it strange that nothing I do seems to install the correct driver, but even a similar driver should work. I can't print anything.

    gymnopedie wrote:
The problem is that the drivers I installed are not showing up in the "Print Using..." menu of available drivers.
For a large number of Canon inkjet printers, due to the way in which the software has been written, the model never appears in the Print Using menu. This is normal and not something you can change.
When you have the printer connected via USB, it should automatically add to your printers list. When this doesn't occur, then it generally indicates that there is a problem with the physical connection, such as a faulty USB cable or USB port, or the Canon driver software didn't install correctly.
To check if the USB cable is okay, open System Profiler and click on the USB entry in the left column under the Hardware heading. This will show all the USB connected devices. If the cable is okay the MP620 should be shown under one of the USB High-Speed Bus entries. If you don't see the MP620, then purchase a new USB printer cable.
If the MP620 is listed, then the software may not have installed correctly. In this case, use the following procedure.
    1. Open System Preferences > Print & Fax. Hold Control key and click in the empty Printers list. Click on Reset Printing System.
    2. Close Print & Fax
    3. Go to Library > Printers > Canon and delete the contents of the BJPrinter folder.
    4. Go to Library > Receipts and delete the Canon driver package file, if one exists. The file name will show Canon MP620 xxx.pkg (where x represents the version).
    5. Go to Library > Preferences and delete the Canon folder.
    6. Empty the Trash
    7. Turn off the MP620 and unplug the USB cable connecting the printer
    8. Restart the Mac.
    9. Install version 7.12.2 of the Canon driver.
    10. Once the driver installation is complete, go to Applications > Utilities and open Disk Utility. Run the Repair Disk Permissions option.
    11. Reconnect the USB cable and turn the MP620 back on. Then open Print & Fax and see if the Canon printer is listed. If it is, try a test print.
    12. If the printer is not listed, click the plus ( + ) button.
    13. Select the Default view and select the Canon printer connected via the USB port. The Print Using menu should automatically change to Canon IJ Printer.
    14. Click Add to add the printer.
Where do my drivers go when I install them, anyway?
./Library/Printers/Canon/BJPrinter (where ./ stands for the hard drive - root)
Note that you cannot browse to this folder to add the printer. You have to rely on the driver software detecting the printer.

  • Kodak AIO Printer Drivers not allowing sleep

I recently started noticing that my MacMini isn't sleeping at the specified interval set in the System Pref's.
After extensive testing, I've narrowed it down to the Kodak AIO printer drivers (and/or associated software) that's keeping it awake. This occurs across all user profiles and resolves itself immediately upon removal of the Kodak AIO software and drivers.
Looking at the console log going back as far as last night the following sequence is repeated every 30 seconds.

I'm going to contact Kodak but any suggestions? Seems to be happening with recent versions of the driver, but I've not been able to determine at what point or update the Kodak printer drivers/software started exhibiting this behavior.

This is a Kodak problem, not an Apple one. AIO printers often cause the computer to stay awake; sometimes it is due to poor programming and other times it is user error. An AIO printer that includes a FAX that is set to receive faxes must keep the computer awake otherwise the computer cannot receive an unscheduled fax. Well written drivers will allow the user to turn this feature off but that means faxes can only be received when you are expecting them. Even if the AIO doesn't include a fax it is  often the cause of computer insomnia.
The solution: (1) before buying an AIO printer check reviews of Mac owners to see if there are reports of insomniac computers with that model. (2) there are shareware and freeware programs that can put a computer to sleep even when the built in energy saver won't. Go to macupdate and search on insomnia

  • Epson R2880 printer does not work under 10.6 - how to install 10.5?

Similar to the many problems reported here, my brand new still in production mid-to-high-end printer from Epson does not work. I set aside my Epson 1270 when I realized that they would never support anything that old, but to not support a current expensive model!?!? I would never have bought it except that their web site claims 10.6 compatible drivers. Not true. I can use it as a text printer, but have none of the photo print options that I paid for.
Running on an iMac which I bought just before 10.5 came out. I never loaded 10.5. I paid the big bucks for a full upgrade from 10.4 to 10.6. I have found a 10.5 retail package. Once it arrives, what do I need to do to write 10.5 over the newer 10.6? Do I need to backup and erase everything, reinstall 10.4 and then 10.5? Or is there a reasonably reliable way to just load 10.5?

The easiest fix to this issue that I've found is to just use Sierra's software.
It means you don't get the nice built-in WWAN integration of 10.6, but whatever--it works!

  • My epson sx525wd printer will not install/add to printer list on osx lion

I have recently installed osx lion on my macbook and imac and have had a few issues.  the most frustrating one is using a new printer i bought, Epson sx525wd which i bought several months ago but hadnt got round to playing with it yet.  Maybe my downfall in not installing on Snow Leopard prior to Lion intall.
Anyhow, When trying to add the printer in the printer system preferences panel, both usb connected or wifi, the message that appears is, this printer software is available to download from apple wound you like to download it, i click yes and it says there is not software to download and then wont let me add the printer.
So, i tried downloading the software/drivers and so on from epson, successfully and installed but add printer system preferences panel still asks me to download from software update and again says there isnt any software to download.
So, i tried doing a software update from the apple icon, software update. again no software updates available.  Finally i found the CD installation disc that came with the printer thinking i had fool it.  to my disappointment i found that the installation software on the disc was not working and said i needed to install rosetta.  and to my further disappointment i discovered that lion has discontinued the use of rosetta.....?  is this true.
I am unsure what to do...
would it be safe to say that i might have to revert back to snow leopard to install the printer then upgrade to lion again?
can anyone help or at least give suggestions?
    Many thanks
    Andy

Delete the /Library/Printers/Epson folder. Then try installing the software that you downloaded again. If that doesn't help, you can try downloading the full package of Epson drivers from http://support.apple.com/kb/DL900.
It shouldn't be necessary to go back to SL and then to Lion to get this working.
    Hope this helps.

  • HP Printer Drivers Not installing

Hi, Im currently running a iMac as my desktop computer downstairs. We recently replaced our 7 year old printer that we had hooked up to the computer because it randomly decided to stop working on us. The new printer that we hooked up to the computer was an HP Photosmart C5180 All-in-One printer. We tried installing the drivers for the computer by downloading them from the HP website but when we did that we would get 1/2 way through the install process and finally get to the "install" screen and when we hit the install button, nothing would happen. I then found the CD for the printer and tried installing the drivers via this method. This didn't work also because "we needed administrator privileges". I am the administrator on this computer and there is one other account on the computer that is also an administrator and I have tried installing it on that user also but not to any luck.
Any ideas on how to get this to work would be greatly appreciated.

  • Installed Yosemite on  Macbook Pro  Epson 840 printer will not print. Uninstalled and now will NOT re-install.

I installed Yosemite last night. Today I needed to print a lot of papers. When I tried to print - nothing happened. Would not even print a test page. Looked it up and found information that said to uninstall printer and re-install. After searching a long time for the CD - I have been trying to reinstall and it only installed a tiny bit and stopped. It has been trying for the last hour and refuses to install the drivers! Why don't they tell you this ahead of time. This is such a problem. Can anyone help? Thanks

  • Printer does not display in System Preferences

I've got a simple setup, which is still in testing (no production clients yet).
Server: Mac OS 10.9.1 with Server 3.0.2 . Self signed trust certificate and enrollment certificates. 3rd party SSL cert for web. I've tried this with 10.8.5/2.2.1 as well with no success there either.
    Client: Mac OS 10.9.1
I configured a printer on my server through System Preferences with these settings:
    Printer Type : IP
    address: servername.mydomain.edu
    Queue: MyPrinter2000
    Name: MyPrinter2000
First of all, Profile Manager 2 was horrendous. I would not recommend using it at all. I could not get consistent profile deployments at all. Moving on...
I add a profile in Profile Manager that is associated to my client. I add some settings to try out including energy savings, login items, login window and some others. For the printer setting, I add the printer that is installed on my server. I allow users to manage the printer list, allow local printers, and save the setting.
The profile deploys right away, and on my test machine, I can see that the printer should be installed when reading the profile in System Preferences. In the Print & Scan menu, however, no printers are displayed whatsoever. I navigate to http://localhost:631 on this same client, and can see the printer there with the correct servername, queue, and driver. I am able to print a test page via that interface successfully.
I have tried installing the printer on the server as shared and not shared. I've removed all profiles and started from scratch with just one profile with just one printer added. Still nothing. I can't figure out why the printer seems to get deployed when I look at the web CUPS interface on the test machine, but System Preferences doesn't show anything.

Are you deploying the profile at user or machine level? I know you may know this but others may not but Apple began the deprecation of WorkGroup Manager with 10.7. FWIW those of us who've been using these technologies since 10.2 and earlier learnt to adapt and used a combination of many applications (some 3rd-party) as well as other techniques which over time worked consistently well. I suppose what I'm trying to say is don't pin all your hopes on PM because it's still not 'enterprise-ready' for OS X yet IMO. I think other veterans and professionals in my field may agree? Having said that I did make it work at some installations/deployments since its first release. Yet at other installations I saw exactly the same behaviour as you do. No logical reason as to why as the network contractor was the same for all those sites. For me this effectively ruled out the network topology and infrastructure as a potential source of the problem. Interestingly I noticed it occasionally worked if the printers were in the same subnet as the macs but even this was not conclusive.

  • I have lost my Silverfast scanning software since downloading Lion. Lion is proving a nightmare - particularly as I was originally told it would work with Silverfast. I also cannot use my Epson 2100 printer. Not a very pro ufgrade Apple. Anyone help?

Can not use Silverfast scanning technology or my Epson 2100 Colour Stylus printer since upgrading to Mac OS X Lion. I had been assured that Silverfast would work and had no idea the printer would become redundent! Not Good information from Apple!! Anyone out there help?

    Hi, Peter;
    The culprit is Silverfast.
The company went as far as telling owners and new customers back in March that their software would work with Lion ("buy Silverfast version 6.6 now, and get a free upgrade to Version 8 when it we release it in late August!").  Days after Lion came out, the German software maker issued a statement that their current version is NOT compatible with Lion (knocking all of their Mac customers out of the scanning business until the newer, functional Silverfast version is ready.)
On the company's owners-only discussion groups, Mac customers have expressed outrage that manufacturer Lasersoft was not clearer on this meltdown in the making.  Users have either had to re-install Snow Leopard, stop scanning for the next several weeks, or buy, install and learn different scanning software.
Lasersoft has even "re-written history"; pulling earlier press coverage (which claimed their software would work with Lion) and "clarifying" that the Version 8 software (which they say will work with Lion) will be available for purchase sometime next month.  The moderator has actually censored or deleted entries offering the name of rival VueSoft (which is Lion compatible), and has removed posts from dissatisfied customers.
Lasersoft discussion groups are amusingly Orwellian right now, with counter accusations hurled at customers who are just trying to get their software to work. Company spokesmen are issuing clumsily-worded taunts instead of apologies or simple damage control language.  UPDATE: the company has now removed some of their own more uncaring responses to users, but there is still some funny reading there.
The whole episode begs the question of what Lasersoft was doing between spring and fall of this year when they should have been preparing a more seamless transition to Lion.  New customers who purchased the pricey Silverfast software in March are doubly out of luck-- the “free upgrade”  to Lion-compatible version 8 only applies to purchases made after June first.
