Equium A60-173 - After BIOS update no boot

Hi, I have a Toshiba Equium A60-173 running Windows XP.
I just attempted to update the BIOS and all was going well until it shut down and did not switch itself back on. I waited and waited then powered it up myself. Result was a black screen or maybe even screen did not power on. I left it like this for about 5 mins then thought it had crashed so tried to switch it off to restart. The power button would not respond so I left it a little longer then removed the battery (<<<idiot I know)
Now the laptop will not boot, I press the power button and get: beeeep beep beeeep beep then it shuts off :S
I am lost and hope I haven't just destroyed my girlfriends laptop!
Any help/steps/advice very much appreciated!
Thanks

Hi
Unfortunately if BIOS update fails you can do nothing because the ROM module must be reflashed from a notebook technician
So you must contact a service partner in your country and ask for help. The guys can help you to get rid of this.

  • Equium A210-1AS - After BIOS update it becomes hot

Hey, wondering if anyone can help here ...
Currently have a Toshiba Equium A210-1AS with BIOS version 1.80 ver 1.00PARTTBL 4/8/2008.
Since the BIOS was updated some time ago to this version 1.80 the computer has become hot very quickly and therefore performance of the laptop has decreased.
I looked on the Toshiba support site and the only version upgrade to 2.00 was not compatible with this notebook.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. The short model number is PSAFJE
    Thankyou

    Hi
I have checked the Toshiba website and I didnt see any BIOS update for the Equium A210 PSAFJE. That means a BIOS update was never released for this notebook normally.
For me it sounds like that you have updated the BIOS with a version for another Equium A210. So you should go to an authorized service provider. The technicians can install the right BIOS version for you (downgrade).

  • After bios update, doesnt boot up...

Hi I went throught that bios update from live update deal. It works great most of the time but this time the computer wont display. I mean I can hear the drives going and all as if its ok, but no display comes up. I have an athlon 3400 with Mushkin memory (one gig total) RADEON AIW 9800 pro and an SATA controller card with a raptor 36 gig, so, what should I do? I reset the bios, that didnt do anything.

    Hi,
You will not be able to run board without a HDD and a floppy or CD. Once you have these fitted what does d bracket show?  Let me know if the rig beeps, and how often
Don't muck about with battery, Ram and things on the off chance it might do something, more likely get a spike of static and blow the system.
What PSU are you using, what amps does it give on the 3.3v the +5v and the +12v lines
This is most likely a bad connection, short,  missing component or inadequate PSU.
May be RAM, have you made sure you earthed yourels to case before touching inside case, especially Ram or CPU.
    Cheers

    Thanks: vladi

    Hi buddy,
the only thing you could do is to bring your machine to an ASP (authorized service partner) for a hardware checkup or BIOS repair because you in your situation cannot do anything.
Please, contact a service partner and send your machine to them, its the only way to solve your problems.
Heres a link to find the nearest ASP in your country:

  • After BIOS Update cannot boot Satellite C640 using USB Stick

After upgrading my Toshiba Satellite C640-10E (PSC02E) bios to 2.00 WIN, I cannot boot the laptop using USB Stick, When I checked the BIOS using F2 I was stunned because the USB connected to laptop was labeled as FLOPPY drive. Is there any option to downgrade the BIOS?
    Thanks

From my experience the BIOS is able to boot from
    - USB FDD (floppy disk)
    - Primary HDD,
    - USB Memory stick
    - Network (LAN)
So I dont think that your USB memory is recognized as a USB FDD but the USB FDD appears as a separate boot device.
It would be interesting to know if another USB flash memory would act as your old USB flash stick.
PS: as Tonny suggested: you cannot downgrade because you dont have previous BIOS version only Toshiba service agents are able to downgrade the BIOS using traditional BIOS.

  • Equium A60 does not start after BIOS update

I have an Equium A60. After being caught with some very nasty malware and a trojan I made the disiccion to reformat the machine and reinstall the o.s..
All went well until I updated the bios. Machine crashed and now I cannot get it to reboot. Press the power button and the machine will start for 3-4 seconds and then shuts down.
I know this is due to the bios and want to know if there is any way that i can reset this back to it original settings?
thanks in advance for your help

    Hi Rob.
The model of my laptop is EA60-152 / PSA67E.
Yes i did upgrade from the Toshiba website.
I should have never done this it was working after the reinstall of the o.s and so i should not have tried anything else(never fix something that aint broke).
The only place i have found for a new motherboard is Toshiba. But the price is nasty. Talk about what a fool am i.
Never mind though i keep on thinking that there may be an answer or a scrap one that i can rob a bios chip from. Other than that a very nice paperweight me thinks..!!!!
If i get an answer than i will post it here..

  • Satellite Pro L300: BSOD after BIOS update

    Hi
after update the Bios of Satellite Pro L300, the windows not start!
Its show the blue dead screen!
    What can i do?

    Hi
Are you able to access the BIOS settings?
Im not quite sure why this BSOD appears but possibly the SATA mode settings have been changed after BIOS update
Usually the SATA mode should be set to AHCI if the SATA drivers are installed.
But if the SATA drivers are not included the SATA mode should be set to compatible.
    Please check this!
Furthermore you could set the BIOS to the default settings and could try to boot the machine again.

  • HP p6230a runs slow after bios update - Getting error BIODHD-8 on Diagnostic Tools

After bios update my desktop runs so painfully slow it is unworkable.  Disk drive seems to be constantly hammered by processes that don't appear on task manager.  Running 64 bit windows 7 (sp1).  Running the diagnostic tools prior to boot up comes up with error code BIOHD-8 - A SMART test failed on the drive - please contact HP Support.  Ideally would like to get previous version of bios as machine was running well before update.

I will ask my HP Employee Expert colleagues about this internally. It will take a while for them to respond.
the BIODHD-8 error code means your harddrive is failing and must be replaced.
Back up everything that you possibly can before it fails and no longer boots up into Windows .

  • I can't activate windows 8.1 pre-installed on my Toshiba E45-B4200 after BIOS Update

I bought Toshiba laptop Model E45-B4200, at first time I could activate windows 8.1 like a charm.
Few months later Windows 8.1 has crashed, so I did clean install of pre-installed windows, no problem so far. Toshiba Application installer app has downloaded BIOS update, so I ran it.
I tried to activate windows after BIOS update, but it didn`t work. No error message, but Change PC settings window just got minimized every time that I tried to click on Activate Windows option. I thought that I did some mistake, so I repeated windows reinstallation, and same problem occurred again.
Now I can`t update Windows, Office 2013, and so on.
I`ve tried SLUI 4 command to force activation by phone, but it didn`t work as well.
I read on MS blogs that windows 8.1 stores product key on MSDM table, windows should be activated normally. Now I got no options now, can you help me?

It shouldn't need to be activated it. Everything should be automatic. Because it's asking you, that's already indicative of a problem. You might want to call customer support.

  • Need To Turn Off Touch Pad Tapping on Equium A60-173

Ok so I bought my father a laptop a few years back and now he has passed it on to me. I am wanting to turn off the tapping on the touch pad but I just can't find an option to do so.
I have installed a fresh copy of Windows XP Pro so there could be some drivers missing that come on the recovery CD.
I have tried to track down any drivers but I can't find my Laptop anywhere. I ran the Toshiba program which is supposed to detect which laptop you have but it came up with nothing when I ran it and I also searched in the drivers section on the Toshiba site but my laptop doesn't even appear in the choices of laptops.
It is a Toshiba Equium and on the back it says Equium A60-173 and the model number is PSA67E-00700C8J.
So if someone can please tell me how to turn off the tapping on the touch pad that would be great. I can't turn the touch pad off completely because obviously I use it to control the mouse pointer.
I saw a post that said to press Fn and F9 but that did nothing, probably because I don't have the correct drivers installed.
    Any help would be great.

    Hi buddy,
The tapping function of touchpad can be disabled in touchpad driver options. FN+F9 key combination will disable the whole touchpad so its another function.
The tapping function can only be disabled if the touchpad drivers are installed. If you install Windows from a normal Microsoft disk no drivers are installed and everything you have to install yourself. If you use the Toshiba recovery disk all drivers and tools will be installed automatically because it contains an image of factory settings. So recovery disk is more comfortable.
All drivers and tools that you need now can be downloaded here:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers
    *Archive* > Equium > Equium A60 > PSA67E
As you can see you must only search in Archive to find the drivers ;)

"It was stopped for reason not to damage the Computer" - blue schreen.
How can I downgrade the bios again? Or - what have I to change in the bios-settings?

    Hi schuwe,
Im a little bit confused about your posting. How do you tell your BIOS not to restart?
Anyway, after BIOS update you should load the default settings in BIOS.
Did you choose the right BIOS especially for your model?

  • After BIOS update DVD driver do not read DVDs anymore - Sat A80

    Hi,
I have a Satellite A80-131 and after bios update (last version 2.5) by windows procedure update, my DVD drive do not read DVD medias anymore. It is possible to read CD medias, but not DVD one.
Can I reinstall the old bios? Can I reinstall the firmware?
    Thanks
    Ronai Lisboa

    Hi Ronai
Like Jimi has said in the posting above. It's very unusual that after BIOS updating the DVD drive hasn't read the DVDs.
Furthermore it's not advisable to use any 3rd party applications to DOWNGRADE the BIOS. Usually only the ASP can downgrade the BIOS. Such procedures are very serious and the wrong procedure can damage the motherboard.
However, it's nice that you have solved the problem and that the drive works properly.
    Thanks for the feedback.

  • Satellite A100-590 PSAA9E freezes on Toshiba welcome screen after BIOS update

    Hi.
Yesterday I did a BIOS update on my Satellite A100-590 PSAA9E-03Z00QGR with the appropriate flash:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_driver_details.jsp?service=EU&selCategory =2&selFamily=2&selSeries=153&selProduct=624&langua ge=17&selOS=10&selType=all&yearupload=&monthupload =&dayupload=&useDate=null&mode=userMachines&search =&action=search&macId=&country=all&selectedLanguag e=17&type=all&page=1&ID=58477&OSID=-1&driverLanguage=42
    bios-20070709111839.zip
After the flashing procedure the machine rebooted automatically, but unfortunately it now keeps hanging at the Thoshiba welcome screen. Also pressing F2 or F12 won't change anything. It seems like the BIOS is corrupt.
I saw, that in the BIOS package are delivered two flash files (s10gm590.rom and s10pm590.rom). But just executing the SanAntonion10 BIOS590MP.exe a .vbs script is started that decides automatically chooses and loads a flash file. Maybe it chose the wrong one?
What shall I do now? Is there a way to restore the BIOS, or do I have to send my notebook in?
    Thanks in advance
    MAT

    > Satellite A100-590 PSAA9E freezes on Toshiba welcome screen after BIOS update
What to say Marc. It looks like you have used a wrong BIOS version or you have updated the BIOS in wrong way.
You could try to access the BIOS and try to set the settings to default.
Dont forget to save the settings if you will exit the BIOS.
But if this procedure does not help, you will have to contact the ASP in your country.
Possibly the guys will try to flash the BIOS again with other special version.
    Good luck
